I won't blame number 10 that much but he did a tremendous job by occupying one end, due to this he and Sakeel added 90-ish runs. His score was in single digits but it's alright as his partner was regularly ticking the scoreboard.

Spinners will play the crucial role but the ball is still 4 overs old so Afridi and Naseem must do the damage early as both of them are attacking bowlers.

I don't know how anyone can blame Naseem Shah. He was the one who rescued Pakistan. Along with Shakeel, Naseem added 94 runs for the 9th wicket and handed Pakistan such a big lead. Else the lead would have been less than 50 runs and Pakistan would have been unable to exert any sort of psychological pressure on the Sri Lankans. And not just Naseem Shah, Abrar Ahmed at no.11 also scored crucial runs and helped Saud Shakeel to get to his double century. Lankan bowlers looked perplexed about what to do.

Associate teams are having a tough outing at the ongoing ACC Men's Emerging Cup. Nepal failed to win any of the matches against full members (India and Pakistan) in their group, and suffered heavy defeats. Oman was bowled out for just 42 runs yesterday, with just Kashyap Prajapati and Suraj Kumar making double digit scores. United Arab Emirates have also lost all of their matches till now. Full member nations have dominated this tournament, and the only question is who will qualify from Group A, with 3 teams having equal points.

Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson exit was allways a shit in  the trade markets, in both ends, in players who brougth and their performance and also in their exchange, always having net loses in every window of transfer.

And we are like 10 years of this, its not so unpredictable they sell the club.
Manchester United is lagging behind in terms of improvement; the Red Devils are working hard to return the club to its stronghold home of won victories. The Alex Ferguson era was extremely different from what we are experiencing presently at Old Trafford; everything changes with time, but United's success is entirely and exclusively dependent on their past achievements when it comes to ratings, which are very complex. The club should be sold quickly; the Glazers family has messed up the club, and it's time for them to depart and be replaced by a more promising and ambitious individual who can take the club to new heights.

I could agree when you say that the Glazer family have messed up with the club. But they don't have any intention to sell the ownership, at least in the near future. Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar and Jim Ratcliffe of INEOS were interested in purchasing the club, but in the last few days both of them have come out with statements accusing the Glazer family of arrogance. Qataris are claiming that Glazers have asked a price that is manytimes the fair valuation, while Glazers are adamant that they will not transfer the ownership cheaply. Let's see who blinks first.

I have never seen a player like Shakib Al Hasan before. Shakib Al Hasan is a great hero in Bangladesh team. Shakib Al Hasan is good in bowling as well as he performs well in batting. Bangladesh team is much ahead by having an all rounder like Shakib Al Hasan. If Bangladesh team had some more players like Shakib Al Hasan then Bangladesh team would have played much better than all the teams. Bangladesh can do well with the interest to play among the players of Bangladesh team.

Well.. there is no doubt that Shakib al Hasan has been the backbone of Bangladesh cricket for more than one decade now. Manytimes he acted like a one man army to rescue the team from difficult situations. But then, the relationship between Shakib and the BCB management have been stormy. I don't know who is to blame, but the infighting has prevented Shakib from performing well at international level. Anyway, he is 36 years now and is close to retirement age. And Bangladesh has failed to find a suitable replacement for him so far.

... Online casinos are assuming that despite leading in opinion polls, the GOP candidate will not win (as a result of infighting?).

It would imply that "soft Republicans" or moderate Republicans would rather not to vote for Trump or even vote for Biden if Trump gets the nomination, which is reasonable, sometimes people forget that there are voters which change their political views depending on what the candidate offers in the campaign, they are closer to the political centers than the extremes.

Though, if Trump does not won the nomination (which as this point sound unlikely) I would expect him to further divide the party and encourage his supporters not to vote or even going third party, destroying the chances of DeSantis or whoever ends up getting the nomination in that case. Trump is so self-centered he would not be able to personally endorse someone onto a position of power bigger than the one he his currently holding.

Agreed with the second part. Trump is just too selfish. He will not allow anyone apart from him to become the GOP nominee. We saw this during the second round of senate elections for Georgia in 2020. Trump refused to campaign for the GOP, after he lost the presidential election. And as a result, GOP lost both the senate seats from that state, despite having an advantage in the first round. Perhaps this is the reason why the casinos are giving such low odds to GOP candidates for the 2024 elections, despite having a lead in many of the opinion polls.

^^^ More than one-third of the people are betting on Donald Trump, but that isn't reflected in the odds. The odds are still very attractive. If by any chance Trump gets elected as the president in 2024, then all these online casinos are going to suffer massive losses. Because out of every 100 bets, 34 bets are for Trump. And for every $100 placed on Trump, the gambler will receive $300 in case he becomes POTUS in 2024. So 34 bets would mean $10,200, which is more than the value of the revenue that the casinos will get from this particular bet (100 x $100 = $10,000).

From 101/5 to 461
Indeed a remarkable fightback! Saud Shakeel delivered an absolutely brilliant performance, also become the first Pakistani batter to score a double hundred in Sri Lanka. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Saud Shakeel's innings, he played exceptionally well under pressure. From executing sweeping shots effectively utilizing the tail, he batted with great determination. As a result, Pakistan is now firmly back in the game with a lead of 149 runs. Having a great chance to win this game, but the outcome of this match now dependent on the Pakistani bowlers.

Sri Lankan captain looked out of sorts after Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman dug in. The captain persisted with Ramesh Mendis and Prabath Jayasuriya, rather than sharing the workload with Vishwa Fernando and Kasun Rajitha. Even after Agha Salman got out, the Lankans struggled against the Pakistani lower order batsmen. Naseem Shah was a thorn in their flesh, adding an invaluable 94 runs along with Saud Shakeel. And out of 94 runs, he made just 6 runs (after facing 78 balls). That partnership was the turning point in today's play.

^^^ Afghanistan managed to put up a tough fight, although they lost by 21 runs in the end. They were in a winning position, with 116/1 at one stage and 218/3 in another. But the middle and lower order batsmen failed to keep up with the climbing required rate. Bangladeshi bowler Ripon Mondol was extremely expensive today, and had figures of 10-0-93-1. Anyway, Bangladesh has now overtaken Afghanistan in the points table, as a result of better run rate. The match between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka will decide which team will qualify for the semi-final.

Pakistan has announced their calendar up to mid-2025, and they have given a lot of importance to T20Is (probably in preparation for the 2024 T20I World Cup, which is scheduled to be hosted by USA and West Indies). As per the calendar, the T20I series to be played by Pakistan are as follows:

2024:

January: New Zealand (five T20Is) in NZ
April: New Zealand (five T20Is) in Pak
May: Netherlands (3 T20Is), Ireland (2 T20Is), England (4 T20Is)
June: T20 World Cup
November: Australia (3 T20Is)
December: Zimbabwe (3 T20Is)

2025:

January: South Africa (3 T20Is)
April: New Zealand (five T20Is) in NZ
May: Bangladesh (3 T20Is)
2830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 18, 2023, 12:21:17 PM
Saud Shakeel got his test double ton, and at this point his batting average stands at 98.25 (786 runs from 6 matches). Naseem Shah got out to the bowling of Ramesh Mendis, but the no.11 batsman Abrar Ahmed has so far batted quite sensibly. Pakistan is leading by 148 runs at this point, and they clearly have an upper hand. Even avoiding the innings defeat is going to be a tough challenge for the Sri Lankan batsmen, because they will be up against the raw pace of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah. Note: Finally Pakistan got bowled out for 461. Lead is 149 runs.
2831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 18, 2023, 12:11:06 PM
Bangladesh team has given a huge target of 309 runs. I thought Bangladesh's innings would not cross 300 runs. But the Bangladeshi batsmen batted very well. Especially Zakir, Joy, Soumya, and Mahedi played brilliantly. It was a difficult task for Bangladesh to collect more than 300 runs on such a pitch. However, they have provided a fairly large target. After giving a huge target of 309 runs, I don't think there is any chance of defeat for Bangladesh. Bangladesh A team bowlers are very talented.

Afghanistan needs another 154 runs, at almost 10 per over. It looks like Bangladesh is going to win this one. But then, Afghanistan has already qualified for the semi-finals, so they don't have much to worry even if they lose this one. On the other hand, Bangladesh lost the first match against Sri Lanka and it is going to be very difficult for them to qualify for the next phase. Group B looks quite predictable BTW. India and Pakistan both have 4 points each and both the teams have already qualified for the semi-finals. We will get some clarity on semi-final lineup in the next couple of days.
2832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 18, 2023, 11:19:39 AM
Lol Sri Lanka really lost the plot, Saud Shakeel turned out to be a trump card for Pakistan and a big party pooper for the Lankans.

You need talent and a good cricketing brain to build partnerships with the tailenders and Shakeel did exactly the same. Mathews must be kicking himself for dropping Shakeel and he's punishing them with a possibly match winning knock, hard for SL to make a comeback here.

At least on paper, Pakistan is much superior to Sri Lanka (who, like West Indies is on the decline). Saud Shakeel is batting on 189 n.o, and he may get to a double ton in the next few overs. Only two wickets remain for Pakistan now, and Naseem is at the crease along with Saud. And after him, it's going to be the tailenders Abrar Ahmed. Saud needs to be careful and take as much of the strike as possible. Sri Lankan spinners (Prabath Jayasuriya and Ramesh Mendis) are looking quite ordinary, after picking up crucial wickets yesterday.
2833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: July 18, 2023, 11:11:01 AM
If we look at the graph, it is clear that Threads cannot compete with the popularity of Twitter, which has been online for a long time. And Mark should have realized that before he set out to create Threads. And it should be again, Mark did not steal ideas from other people but developed something else, like when he developed Facebook for the first time when there was no social media like Facebook that could offer a variety of features.

Mark's popularity seems to decline if he cannot have creative ideas to compete with Elon or other people. Everything has to be updated to get people's attention so they want to use the platform he just created.

Threads was doomed to fail from the start. The reason is that it was not offering anything better than Twitter. Zuckerberg was just hoping to attract people who were not happy with the ownership change and censorship rules in Twitter. And in the end, it turned out that only a small fraction of Twitter users were open to Threads. And although Threads managed to enroll hundreds of millions of new users, the quality was missing. Most of these users were existing Instagram customers who just wanted to try out the new feature. And very soon they lost their interest in Threads.
2834  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and the fall of Twitter on: July 18, 2023, 02:32:09 AM
Personally I have always despised twitter.  Mainly I disliked it because anytime I got on, I felt like it was just complete disarray. It's very poorly set up.  It's hard to find things, and I just can't stand the layout.
✂✂✂✂

Well... if you never liked Twitter, then it doesn't matter what you think about it. I guess Elon would be more worried about the existing users. I can understand the current hype being made around the pullout by certain advertisers. These guys are mad that Elon put an end to censorship by the far-left and then implemented freedom of speech. As Elon mentioned, $44 billion that was spent on Twitter was necessary to restore freedom of speech in one of the most popular social media platforms. Advertisers will return in future, or else they will be replaced with others.
2835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: July 18, 2023, 02:22:35 AM
I think by now we have clear results:

Threads will end up like a lot many of the stupid ideas that Mark Zuckerberg had and it will face the same face as the Libracoin (does anyone even remember about it now?). All Zuckerberg can do is to steal ideas from others and then try to profit out of it. He stole the idea of cryptocurrency from Satoshi Nakamoto and then came up with Libra. Stole the idea of micro-blogging platform from Twitter and then came up with Threads. But what he forgets is that he needs to offer something extra to the users rather than a cheap copycat to stay ahead in the business.
2836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: July 18, 2023, 02:12:23 AM
I completely agree with this.
The teams that were the most disappointing in the last major world and European competitions, such as France, Brazil or Germany, have great individual players but lack team spirit and unity.
It is not enough to gather great individuals and expect that the national team will only win and win trophies by inertia.
At the last EURO, when France lost sensationally, it seems to me to Switzerland, and dropped out of the competition early, it was said that the relations between the players in the French team were very bad.
At the world championship in Qatar, they had a serious problem because of Benzema, who the key players of the team did not want, and this reflected on the team's spirit. It is difficult to say whether they would have become world cus again with Benzema, but the damage has certainly been done.

Just watch these two teams play (Argentina and France), and it is very evident. I have never noticed anyone in Argentine squad playing selfishly. They readily pass the ball, depending on the situation and circumstances. But with France, I have noticed several times that their players waste golden opportunities to score, just because they don't want to pass the ball and try to score the goal by themselves. France maybe having some of the best players in the world. But nothing can be done if the players don't trust each other.

In summary when you have everything you need to survive and you don't need money, are you poor?

In today's world, if you don't have money then you will be at a lot of disadvantage.

Let me give you one example. You maybe having everything that you need for your daily existence. But what will happen, if you need to deal with some emergency situation? For example, a natural catastrophe occurred and your house was destroyed. Without money, how you are going to rebuild your house? Or let's take the example of some medical issues. Suppose you got diagnosed with stage II cancer. Without the money, how you are going to afford the medicines, and complicated medical procedures such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy?
2838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: July 18, 2023, 01:52:42 AM
If we talk about Ukraine and Donald Trump, we must mention the fact Trump seems to be quite friendly towards the Russian government and also he has said that if is elected to be president of USA he would end the war very quicky. I think he mentioned 24 hours or some during one of his surreal interviews.

Assuming he is serious about it, ending the invasion on Ukraine would imply to grand Ukraine terrory to Russia in exchange for peace. It is something I would totally see Trump being capable of.

Trump's inclination for Russia is certainly one of the reasons he does not appeal to moderates.

GOP is definitely not in favor of spending hundreds of billions on Ukraine without getting anything in return. And Trump is more adamant on this topic, compared to some of the other GOP politicians such as Lindsey Graham. Democrats don't have an issue in spending such huge amounts, because they always believe in printing unlimited amounts of money. For them, there is no limit in spending any amount on any purpose. Anyway, the next elections are 18 months away. By then, in all probability the war will end (someone will broker a deal, and most likely it is going to be Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Disappointing thing is that, i could not find the match live in any OTT platform Roll Eyes.

OTT platforms were not interested in broadcasting the match, and therefore the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) streamed it live on their YouTube channel. I checked their channel, and the match is still there:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QmzROl98i8

The quality is not something that you would expect from OTT platforms such as SONY LIV or Hotstar. But I would say that it was OK. The second ODI match will be played tomorrow, at the same venue (Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur).
2840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: July 18, 2023, 01:32:25 AM
It is not a shock that Biden would have better odds, I think unless something major changes like he gets sick or something, we will probably see him be the higher favorite until the campaign period starts, and there we need to see him change something if possible in order to actually have an issue or not.

Looking at the situation I am guessing that it's going to be hard for sure. Sitting presidents usually have a higher chance to win and that is why they are voting it like this. In any case I am guessing that they are going to have a hard time one way or another. Not saying it's going to be easy but at the very least there is going to be a bit of a trouble here and there. We may end up with this situation until the election itself.

Not that simple. In most of the opinion polls, Biden is trailing his opponent from the GOP (irrespective of whether it is Trump or DeSantis) by a healthy margin. How can he have better odds, given this? The most recent opinion poll from Economist/YouGov puts the 2024 POTUS Elections at a tie between Trump and Biden (42% vs 42%). Still, given the electoral college system, Trump should have the advantage (he won in 2016, despite securing less votes when compared to Hillary). Online casinos are assuming that despite leading in opinion polls, the GOP candidate will not win (as a result of infighting?).
