2821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can players bet on their own games on: January 11, 2023, 09:34:56 PM
Professional athletes or players aren't allowed to bet on their games. Even their family members and the members of their team aren't allowed too. There's a strict code of conduct on these players that they should abide by all the time, else it's a huge scandal and no one wants that to happen. Ever wonder why when there's such a thing that happens like this, it almost makes it to the news even if the one who made the bet is a cousin or some other distant family member? It's frowned upon by sports organizations, and gives the impression that whoever in the side of the players made the bet must know something is up (fixed match).

I also think that Mercedes know what they are doing with not copying the other biggest teams. They still have great engineers and we all know how successful they have been until this new era in F1. They just weren't well prepared for the previous season and it was quite late when they started to catch up with Ferrari and Red Bull.

However at least we saw some really good signals in the latest races last season. We are likely to see a much stronger Mercedes this time but let's see how competitive they will be for the championship. It'd be lovely to see Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes all fighting for the championship for a long time.

Kinda missed seeing Mercedes dominate the F1 scene but I guess it's also better to see that other teams get the better of them right now. Their car is still powerful, but not as powerful as it was back a few years ago, plus they had some issues with their car a few races back that forced Hamilton and Russel to drive differently than what they're used to. They cannot push the car and themselves to the limits because of that porpoising issues but as far as reports go, Mercedes engineers are currently doing their best to get the new designs out that solves this problem. Also, the budget ceiling probably hurt them a lot too considering that it pushed back a lot of R&D for the cars and designs that they are putting out there. It might take a while before Mercedes can be as competitive again as they did just a few years ago.
2823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman won $43million but was offered a steak dinner instead of her winnings on: January 11, 2023, 07:00:09 PM
The casino could have offered that woman a more valuable reward as an apology for the system failure. But a steak dinner is ridiculous! By the way, the woman found a slot machine bug. Perhaps she prevented more serious consequences for the casino. The representatives of this casino are too greedy.

If the woman found out this bug then she should be properly compensated but no. The casino operators just want to really add a lot of salt to the wound by them offering a steak dinner to the woman. They could have just issued an apology and some form of compensation/reward by funding the bug but it really has to be a dinner. It's as if the casino is subtly admitting that the woman has indeed won something but the best that they can give is a steak dinner. That's just so wrong in so many levels.

If the Gambling Commission has been involved in this obvious act of denying the woman her win, then it's almost a certain that the case is already lost. It's hard to win against a government entity with this kind of case even though the circumstances on how she was denied the win is absolute clownery. No matter how long this case gets, if the Gambling Commission already put out their decision, that will surely be what the courts will always follow.

Imagine seeing on the screen you win that amount, only for the casino to tell you that the machine is broken and that all they can do is offer you a steak dinner. That must have hurt, and I will surely hurt somebody if I were the woman that won that amount.

if the woman is not happy with the casino's decision, she can hire a lawyer and request the casino to produce the valid audit done or how they verified that the machine had a problem during the time of her game. because if they can't provide the validation done, then, it means, the admin just talked about not giving her winnings. also if the machine was indeed faulty, all the previous players had been screwed by that same machine and just eating their money because of the faulty machine. they can actually make a case towards the casino if she finds those people who lost without a battle by using such machine.

The machine was surely audited and checked for bugs and possible malfunctions because the New York State Gaming Commission has already sided with the casino. Whatever the findings may be, it appears to have been in favor of the casino. It would have been best if they used a third-party auditor in court proceedings that will support the defendant's claim (casino) just to make sure that there isn't any corruption happening between the two parties.
2824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streamer and Crypto Guru Gambles Away Investor Funds on: January 11, 2023, 05:09:04 PM
He doesn't deserve to hold any funds after this. He clearly has no self-control at all and is easily tempted by the amount of money that he has on his disposal. Clearly he has some problems, and he admitted that he indeed won big amounts, but those weren't enough to satiate his hunger in gambling. Even if he changed for the better, I think that he should be kept away from money that is not his and just make do with what he has. It's good that he realized that he's into deep, but not until it's too late. For sure he will be sued by the investors that entrusted money to him although he can easily evade jail time if he promised to pay back whatever he lost in his gambling spree.

This is why it's hard to trust in crypto projects maintained by a select few people. The money will always tempt them to do bad things for their own benefit and this is a clear example of just that.

Team Secret has a rough start this DPC season. Nisha's replacement, BOOM, is not sitting well with Team Secret. I think he is still at loss on how to play with his new team. OG run them down easily in their match today. OG won an easy 2-0 against them. Team Secret is now 0-4 to start the DPC Winter tour. They had a rough start last season too but got to end TI in second place.

They were lucky last season when they picked up Reso because he fits perfectly how team Secret plays. They are not so lucky this season replacing Nisha with BOOM. Hopefully, they will recover and get synch up. It is still a long season.

Just as I thought, Secret will really struggle with Boom as the kid doesn't really have any experience outside of the Russian teams that he has for all of his professional career. He's a great pubstar and he really knows his stuff, but I think he's getting a little bit of starstruck with Puppey as his captain and Resolut1on as one of the legends in the CIS region. Eventually though I know this kid will fit in just right in the team and bring back his great plays in mid that made him known in the international team during his stay at Gaimin Gladiators.

That PSG.LGD loss was unexpected and Knights drafted really well throughout the series, taking advantage of the first pick Lina in the first map, and then in the second map they went with a lineup that had a lot of control.
That loss of PSG.LGD might not be valid as the Team Knights are allegedly cheating with a map vision hack.

https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/1093ku7/knights_accused_of_cheating_in_cn_dpc_div_1/

A division 1 team that has resorted in cheating deserves to be banned for life by all Dota 2 organizers and mainly by Valve. Why these players don't think for the betterment of their careers?

Dude, these are DPC games and not just pub games.

Damn, I also read that earlier. Match fixing is one thing, but straight up applying cheats and joining an event that is sponsored by the developer that you used your cheat on should really warrant a lifetime ban. If they had the balls to do this on DPC, how about the minor tournaments that they also participate in? For sure this isn't the only instance that they used this cheat on games and tournaments.

Its more of a dumb bet after all and I should have gone for the traditional 'safe' bet which is over 2.5 maps. Well in fact all games in EEU region ended up over 2.5 maps on all 3 games, someone would have made decent amount of profit just by betting on that single 'safe' option.

There are teams that you should avoid betting over 2.5 maps at this time such as Team Secret. Their new player Boom is having a hard time trying to fit in with the current roster, and look as if he's not really a perfect fit for the team. Against Div 2 teams, perhaps you can bet on Secret or even over 2.5 maps, but against Div 1, better to go against them just to be safe.

Nigma vs Tundra tomorrow, Im going for Tundra -1.5 maps on this. Totally Nigma fan boy right here but I just dont think that the current Nigma has what it takes to win against the TI winner

Tundra is a safer bet. Nigma with ATF as carry doesn't seem right, although we have seen the guy in OG transition from being an offlaner to a second carry which works most of the time so there's that.
2828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: January 10, 2023, 11:06:44 AM
Anyone bet on Secret vs Liquid? mICKE is a different beast in the starting of this 2023 DPC season, and it shows how well he has improved in his farm rotations and his decision-making as to whether he should join the fights or not. Also, it's weird seeing Nisha not being in Team Secret lol. His first match really has to be against his former teammates and he just flexed on them with his Batrider. Secret seems to have a hard time synchronizing their moves with BOOM, but hopefully the man finds his footing in this tier 1 team lead by Puppey.

Good thing I did not bet on this match. If I bet, I should have lost because I thought this series will go the distance. My over 2.5 maps should have lost.

I was not able to watch fully the game, but I saw that Team Liquid won 2-0 against Team Secret. It looks like Nisha is blending better with team Liquid than Boom with Team Secret. Nisha is a good player; it is a shame that Team Secret has to let him go.

Puppan has other plans unfortunately, and it appears that Nisha also wants to be transferred somewhere else. He's playing with Secret for almost 4 years and achieved 2 Major wins with the team, but the International championship remained elusive as ever to the Polish player. Hopefully with Team Liquid he gets what he's chasing for years.

I like mICKE being carry than Nisha. Nisha previously played carry and he's just not that good on that role as he struggles to find farm unless his supports do their thing flawlessly on the map. Whereas mICKE just knows how to play the map and when to move around even without crucial core items that he needs. I think iNSaNiA is also doing pretty good as a captain because his teammates feel very confident when moving around the map with him and making plays, pushing Secret to take a fight and forcing a mistake to get gold and reduce their map control. That 2 games showed how well Team Liquid played the map, without relying that much on meta heroes.

Good thing they adapted quickly to their new roles in the team. They have been playing for quite some time now so maybe that helped them adjust faster and better.

mICKE has the experience of a mid laner and he's applying it being the carry of the team. He knows how to move around the map when needed and farm when needed. Nisha on the other hand, only has to be in sync with his new team, and seeing that first game I can say that he's confident around Team Liquid as he made a lot of awesome plays with that Batrider and is often the initiator instead of just dishing out damage with flamebreak as is the meta currently.
2829  Economy / Economics / Re: Ant Group founder Jack Ma to give up control in key revamp on: January 09, 2023, 11:59:28 PM
It appears that the rumors are true. Jack Ma has given up most of his control of everything he built after being persuaded by the Chinese government. It only started when Ma seemed to have taken a liking in collaborating with the west in expanding his business empire. Of course this was not taken by the Chinese government in a good way. I think that's better for him since he won't have to worry about the continuous pressure anymore and his words will no longer be guarded by the CCP since he has foregone control of Ant group.

Pretty sure the control will be transferred to the friends of the CCP. It's only a matter of time.
2830  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving one third what you earn monthly is not that hard, isn't it ? on: January 09, 2023, 11:38:44 PM
It isn't hard if you're living alone, but it becomes a problem when you have a lot if mouths to feed and bills to pay. Saving isn't for everyone obviously, and before you can start to save you need to have some form of safety net in the event that your salary won't allow you to pay all the bills and put some food on the table. This is why a lot of people nowadays opt to take two jobs just to get by. After everything is paid for, there still wouldn't be enough to keep as a decent savings. Just imagine getting $4000 a month, and $2500 already goes to bills and rent/mortgage, how can you live off of $1500 for food and transportation with a family of 4? That's not including education funds too.

If wages can br increased then perhaps we can encourage a lot of people to save. But in reality, even single people cannot live off of minimum wage and still have some decent money left for anything that they want nowadays.
2831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your opinion on the future of Decentralised exchanges on: January 09, 2023, 11:08:40 PM
DEXs are too complex for an average person to get ahold of, so don't expect CEXs to go anywhere soon. People will just be more careful when depositing their coins in a centralized exchange. I'd expect CEXs to be required to disclose their reserves by law (Proof of Reserves) to gain investors' and traders' confidence. It seems to me that CEXs will be treated more like financial institutions (banks) after what happened with FTX lately. This means tighter regulations that will make both the exchange company and the customer's life impossible. There's nothing we can do about it, especially when we let Wall Street take over the industry for quite some time. Crypto/Blockchain tech will be driven away from its core principles of decentralization because of this.

DEXs will still exist in the future, but the number of people using them will be very small compared to CEXs. They will have a future as long as developers continue to improve them. Long-term speaking, DEXs will be able to live alongside CEXs allowing people to choose which platform to trade based on their needs. No one can predict the future, so we can only hope for the best. Just my thoughts Grin

I agree. I don't think most people can catch up with DEX that easily. In this day and age wherein a lot of minor inconveniences are considered as 'problems' by a lot of people, you wouldn't expect them to try and go learn about DEX themselves. It's quite ironic when information is readily available, but people still stay uninformed. CEX provides that easy access and an overall smooth transaction for the average Joe, and DEX is for those who seek added security and anonymity in dealing with cryptocurrencies. It will remain as a separate niche for a long time, and CEX will surely eat the bigger share of the pie until then - though that doesn't mean that DEXs would be gone. They're just not going to be hosting a lot of volumes that's for sure.

i didn't bet on Secret vs Liquid match, looks like i missed that match.
Nisha is now not on Team Secret anymore after the player transfer and it's like it's a loss for Team Secret to let Nisha go to Team Liquid. if I'm not mistaken in the Secret vs Liquid match with a score of 0:2 and Liquid won this match.
it looks like there has been a change in the roster composition of the Liquid team after Nisha joined the Liquid team. now miCKe becomes Carry and Nisha becomes Midlaner.
to be honest I missed this match very sad because I support team Liquid. because I really like the way Team Liquid plays quickly without beating around the bush when they have the opportunity to finish off the opponent in front of them very quickly.
in this it will be hard work for Puppey as the star of team Secret to accept defeat.

I like mICKE being carry than Nisha. Nisha previously played carry and he's just not that good on that role as he struggles to find farm unless his supports do their thing flawlessly on the map. 2833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stealing from the IRS- Talk about a Gamble! Regulatory scrutiny for crypto mixer on: January 09, 2023, 09:50:03 PM
I think this should belong to Bitcoin Discussion more than Gambling Discussion.

But to answer your question, mixers generally work by accepting coins from those who wanted to use the service and pile them up in one big heap (mixer's own addresses). Afterwards, they would then send out the original input from one user to their new address using funds from a completely different address to obfuscate the trail. Think of it like a big box accepting one type of object, then giving another person the same object but with a slightly different quirk, but completely different from what he previously has before the mix. That's just it basically.

Mixers might have some embedded casino games in the platform itself but usually it is just a separate feature. Maintenance might be a pain the ass. Maintaining a mixer in itself is already a pretty daunting task, why add more complexity to your site when you can just create another website dedicated to gambling instead.

Why are people trying to revive anything related to LUNA and Do Kwon? Haven't they got enough of that scam that they are still planning to revive it? Should it get the traction once more and boom, I'm pretty sure those who stayed loyal to this coin will also get burned. The man himself is in hiding and cannot appear in public in fear of being deported and arrested by the authorities. Why do people still want to do something with this coin?  Cheesy It's best to speculate on other altcoins that have been pumped and dumped to hell than this one IMO.
2835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 09, 2023, 08:18:44 PM
Right now here are my picks for today's game,

Washington Wizards VS New Orleans Pelicans

The stake odds for this game are 1.85 for the Wizards and 2.00 for the Pelicans, right now Bradley Beal and Johnny Davis can not play for the Wizards, while E.J. Liddell, Brandon Ingram, and Zion Williamson can not play for the Pelicans, and Larry Nance Jr. is questionable if he can play For this For me because Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson can not play I will go with the Washington Wizards,

New York Knicks VS Milwaukee Bucks

The stake odds for this game are 1.96 for the Knicks and 1.89 for the Bucks, right now R.J. Barrett is questionable if he can play for the Knicks, while Khris Middleton, and Serge Ibaka can not play for the Bucks but tomorrow they can because they expect to return on Jan. 11, because of this I am still be going with the Milwaukee Bucks I think even without Ibaka and Middleton they can overpower with Giannis Antetokounmpo,

Boston Celtics VS Chicago Bulls

The stake odds for this game are 1.28 for the Celtics and 3.85 for the Bulls, right now Danilo Gallinari, and Marcus Smart can not play for the Celtics while Lonzo Ball and Tony Bradley can not play for the Bulls and Alex Caruso, Javonte Green, is questionable if they can play for the Bulls, for this match I will go with the team near the top and that is non-other than the Boston Celtics,

Sacramento Kings VS Orlando Magic

The stake odds for this game are 1.43 for the Kings and 2.95 for the Magic, right now Sacramento Kings is fully healthy while Chuma Okeke and Jonathan Isaac both are injured and can not play for the Magic and Bol Bol is positive for Covid-19 and can not play aswell, because of the players that can not play for the Magic, I seen this as an slight advantage over the Magic so I will go with he Sacramento Kings,

Out of these 4, I'm liking the Bucks pick the most. There is a lot of juice in this pick and Giannis is on fire lately even if they lost that Hornets game. Middleton has been out for quite some time now and I think it's not really affecting the team that much, although a helping hand in crucial matches would be appreciated but the Bucks' proved that it's not a necessity. On Wizards vs Pelicans, it's best to bet on the Wizards early on before the odds shift later when Nance Jr's status becomes confirmed. Williamson being out is like the Pelicans losing a leg, whereas in Wizards they still have all the key players that can make easy work of the Pelicans' handicapped state.
2836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A lottery's defense to not paying a huge winning. on: January 09, 2023, 07:07:02 PM
The question is ?
What do you really think of the lottery company and is there any chance for them to winning the case and not paying the winner?
Some countries lottery/gambling is legal and some countries lottery/gambling is illegal, if you talk about laws, it depends.

I mean, there are lottery companies that are illegal and there are legal ones, if the user wins the lottery the lottery dealer doesn't pay, let's say the lottery company is legal, if the winning user has enough proof of his winnings that user will get the lottery and vice versa it is illegal to have no hope for that user.

In the case as you mentioned, it seems legal, it is marked that the user is likely to get the lottery.

But mostly this kind of case is illegal and for sure what you've expected on this?  If legal as long as you have the winning ticket then the case will end, and you'll be sure that you can get the money but if it is illegal it is more likely the lottery will close and not open or they will keep blind that you didn't win even if you have that ticket. I heard this rumours around our neighbourhood when I was a child that a lottery closed because someone won big and they didn't pay him so he can't chase them as he doesn't know them.

This is why you only bet on government-accredited agents for your lottery bets. You should only bet on the national lottery so that you can always chase them and sue them if they refuse to pay. Those lotteries you speak off are small-town lotteries usually run by some rich local or some corrupt politicians. You won't have any shot in getting these guys into jail because they know so well that no matter how hard you try to get them pay you, you'll have to provide legal proof that they really owe you money. If what they're doing is already illegal, then obviously you don't want to pursue them because that might even put you in hot water.

I have heard similar stories here in our locality too. Instead of going after the operator (which they never know who that is), they just let it go because even the agent doesn't even know who he's working for.

This is just the late 2016 TNC roster with the addition of Karl. They already have the chemistry and they already know how each other plays but perhaps the time they spent not playing as a team together really hurt that chemistry. They just need familiarity with each other's current plays but they can get this up to speed if they spend a lot of time playing scrims and joining minor tournaments. This team has a future in the SEA DPC, and a strong contender at that considering that a lot of SEA teams have reshuffled too.

That is a very long time ago. I do not even know if they are still up to date with the current meta. SEA is a weaker region, but the competition is still going to be tough. If they want to qualify for TI this year, it will be a lot of work.

But they still rocked with each other though, and to an extent knows how each one plays. The meta changes, but when you played with someone for quite some time, you'll learn to adapt with them and 'get inside their heads' when they're playing. But yeah, the meta they know won't work anymore and they have to dust their strategies because for sure, they are in for a treat with a lot of stronger teams in the region. SEA is just not that strong compared to other regions, but there are tons of individual talents out here that can belong to a top tier team.
2839  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Basically All Small Cap Staking Coins Had this problem on: January 08, 2023, 07:19:41 PM
You can't expect people to be virtuous in a money-making space. It's a dog-eat-dog world out here and everyone is just trying to make money, mostly at the expense of others. Be it low marketcap staking coins or huge cryptos, there will always be deep pockets that will try and use their position and capacity to make more money whenever possible. The reason they're in the crypto scene is because they want to make more money, why would they care about other people that they don't know about anyway?

One way of making money in crypto is by being selfish and emotionless. If you push your virtues 100% of the time in this space, you'll just lose money in the long run.

I don't know where you read that news, but I've never heard of it, bitcoin and exchanges like currencies and banks. A failed bank doesn't mean the currency collapses and neither does bitcoin. I remember we also had a topic about the correlation between bitcoin and exchanges and honestly, bitcoin can work fine even without an exchange, so saying that the collapse of exchanges will drag bitcoin to collapse is the dumbest statement I've ever heard.

Exchanges hold bitcoin and crypto, and if one exchange gets hacked, guess where some of those coins will go?

That's right. It will get sold, leading to collapse in price plus the uncertainty of investors on the severity of the hack. There's also that false impression that the public—and also the uninformed investors—has built over the years that when an exchange gets hacked, bitcoin may also 'be' hacked, which then causes panic sells that affect the price.

You're correct that bitcoin can function without exchanges, but traders and investors cannot really do their thing without exchanges. Bitcoin is only dragged on the issue because it's what's being traded on the exchanges, and it's mainly the target of hacks. Bitcoin doesn't share any of these faults and insecurities of exchanges, but it may seem like it because the price of bitcoin afterwards is what's getting affected unfortunately.
