2821  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Lauda, MinerJones, Blazed | Missing escrow funds on: August 23, 2018, 01:43:37 AM
I haven't had a lot of time to look through the details of this specific case, however I cannot say I am surprised money is missing from an escrow being handled by MinerJones and Lauda.

This is not the first time Lauda and MJ have been involved in shady escrow business, in fact I called them out on shady escrow dealings over a year ago when they refused to cover losses due to their alleged incompetence.

Lauda, MJ and blazed were also advertising (more proof) for something that was almost certainly a scam, being run by a then brand new account.

I am however very surprised that they were trusted with 3000 BTC of other people's money, even at My 2017 prices.

In case anyone needs help earning money:

There many ways to earn money, but you have to search internet

You can earn money from airdrops, bounty , bitcoin talk signature campaign etc without investment.
But it's very difficult to earn money without investment. Be patient is very important to earn money without investment.
There is steemit.com, there are bounties, airdrops too. Just open your mind to new stuffs and you'll be good.
for me i think trading is very profitable if you know the basic knowledge with some experience. in addition you can do electronic marketing which i highly recommend to make money online

Some people have really big plans

What are your plans for the future, in 5 years, 10 years etc.? What do you intend to do and what interests do you intend to pursue?
I really want to be successful in the next   5 to 10 years. Not a joke am already 27 years. However here are some of the things i would want in next 5 to 10 years. I would like to be tagged as Crypto multi billionaire, found in magazines. I want my speech to change the financial markets . I would want to give birth to 5 kids. 3 boys and 2 girls. And name that as.... i would like to pause on that . However, not forgeting about my lovely wife . Making her much happy would always be my greatest priority . I would want to be the best father in the world at that time
i intend to save as much as 100 BTC for generations to come, having the hope that btc will increase in price by 98%.
My plan is to have my own formal business. I will not stop spending my time in crypto industry and also I will do part time job aside from crypto.

I don't think the Trump election, nor Brexit was anything close to right-wing extremism. Putin and Erdogan are both dictators (or at the very least, de-facto dictators), and are not elected, and as such do not reflect the will of the people.

Both the US and Europe have been ruled by very liberal leaders since the 2008 financial crisis and recession, and these liberal leaders are responsible for the subsequent weak economic recovery. I think Brexit was the 1st sign that the masses are rejecting liberalism, and it could have even been a sign of the death of liberalism.

From the looks of it, mainstream liberals are moving far to the left, including embracing radical ideas such as socialism (that has killed over 100 million people), and open borders (which basically removes any sense of sovereignty, or any possible rule of law). I would predict that liberalism will be pushed farther to the fringes of society.

Russia isn’t run by a bunch of liberal idiots, it is run by Putin who is to the right and doesn’t care about political correctness. He also doesn’t care if you say stupid things as long as you are not criticizing him.

Look at the amount of criticism of Putin, real criticism about major issues. You just don’t see it in the press. Look at the number of anti-Putin protests — they simply don’t happen. Compare that to the US. There is a lot of dissent in the US, even to presidents that win reelection and these people are not arrested or otherwise harmed.
Tell you what, he doesn't even care about stupid forms of criticism. Unless you are Khodorkovsky who wants to squeeze the budget dry and to lobby laws allowing to drain capital straight to Cyprus.
He (oh blasphemy!) cares about Navalny much less than Navalny's supporters think, and Sobchak Junior sat in his lap when she was little.

You want us to bash Putin, that is quite understandable. But we don't obey you.
It is normal for a politician to be the subject of criticism.

You don’t have to bash Putin if you agree with his policies, however you are naive if you think there is no major opposition to his policies. The amount of public protests and public opposition to Putin suggests everyone agrees with him.
2825  Other / Politics & Society / Re: RT news propaganda news station yes or no? on: August 19, 2018, 05:30:38 PM
I believe RT is financed in large part by and through the Russian government. Also there is no free speech in Russia and dissenters are often jailed and killed under suspicious circumstances, so ignoring the financing issue journalists are likely afraid to criticize the Russian government.
No free speech in Russia?
Just look at what people write here in Russian-language section.
The same zoological russophobia (spread by Russians who often don't speak any other language!) you can find in any social media, and nobody bans them, like in some other countries.

There are more than enough dissenting voices which RT is positioned to offset internationally.
And the main motiff of the dissent boils down to: Mr Putin owes us money - on the scale Mr Qaddafi used to pay everyone in Lybia, until Mr Qaddafi was killed by the beneficiaries, who used those money to buy up armaments.
Why don't we get oil revenues like in Saudi Arabia? Why do we have to work? and so on.

In Russia you can talk complete and utter bullshit in public, without any Political Correctness, or even basic decency limiting you - and a lot of people do talk. Admittedly some miniscule percent get jailed for that (unfortunately usually not the worst offenders, just some random small guys), but any freedom comes with a small chance of responsibility.

2828  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do governments lose taxes with cryptocurrencies? on: August 18, 2018, 05:19:59 AM
I think there is decent evidence that many people have not disclosed all their crypto related income.

There is also anecdotes implying that some people are hiding assets/income (via crypto) in order to maintain eligibility for welfare programs.
2829  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Myth of American Inequality on: August 18, 2018, 05:11:01 AM
In general, the WSJ will report the facts in their news articles and they do not leave out pertinent facts. In general I would say that a WSJ article will contain the “whole truth”, while it may have a slight bias to the right. This compares to other mainstream publications, such as the Washington post, which frequently publishes news articles with outright bias, and often contain opinions and often important facts are omitted or downplayed.

The editorial section will have a strong bias to the right unless a Democrat congressman/senator/president submits a piece, in which case they will publish it.
2830  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Trump Be Re-elected? on: August 18, 2018, 05:04:49 AM
He ran against a very weak candidate in 2016, so weak that she had to cheat to “win” the nomination. On the other hand, Obama very much had his thumb on the scale for Hillary, including weaponizing spying powers. Further Trump has done a very good job of getting his message out via Twitter and has probably improved since the election. He has also done a lot for the economy and the middle class.

If I had to bet, I would say he will serve another term.
2831  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Myth of American Inequality on: August 18, 2018, 04:46:39 AM
What you read was actually an opt-ed (an editorial published in the opinion section). It is important to make this distinction as it will disclose bias in the piece.

I agreed with what was written though. Our current system has a lot of disincentives to work via transfer payments and this results in the lower class receiving payments, when adjusting for taxes income very near those in the middle class.

The tax code is also very progressive, more so than the various tax brackets would imply, due in large part to the earned income tax credit, and similar programs.

2833  Economy / Services / [WTS] signature space - high merited poster (73rd highest merit) on: August 17, 2018, 06:46:59 AM
I am looking to sell my signature space.

I am flexible as to how long of a term you can buy my signature for, although I would want to lock in at least a monthly deal.

Any deal must be time based, and I will not make any guarantees in regards to the number of posts, although I have no plans on decreasing the volume of my posts.

We can value the price of my signature in USD, BTC or ETH, and payment can be in BTC, or major altcoins.

Advertisements must not directly compete with the business advertised in my avatar.

You can PM me to negotiate an agreement -- if you make what I perceive to be a fair offer to advertise a reputable business, I will likely accept --  and I will PGP sign the payment address and the specific terms of our agreement.

Payment must be made up front.
2834  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What would the top coins be if people were sane? on: August 17, 2018, 06:38:32 AM
The valuation of all crypto is currently grossly inflated by rampant financial speculation. For example, a few weeks ago, the price of bitcoin was increasing due to speculation that a bitcoin ETF would be approved in the near future. In other words, people were speculating that the masses would have the ability to speculate on the future price of bitcoin.

If various cryptos were valued not on speculation, but on actual volume of financial transactions, bitcoin would likely be first, followed by bitcoin cash and ether. Most other altcoins would be more or less worthless if they were valued by actual financial transactions.

Financial speculation is not all bad (although I would argue current levels are excessive and otherwise bad), as it will lead to innovation. In the future, I can see both EOS and IOTA financial transaction volume increasing, although the alleged weaknesses in cryptography in IOTA will need to be addressed (if real), and financial transactions in EOS will be very different than the financial transactions in most other coins.

Are there any updates as to this actually being implemented? Badges can be given out today, and if necessary, the icons can be later changed...
2836  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should UBI Replace all Welfare Systems? on: August 17, 2018, 06:23:42 AM

I'm not sure if standards of living would be the right way to put it. I think it's just a culture of of needless consumerism. I remember really an article of a family of 4 that comfortable lives on $25,000 per year (though they make more) compared with a family of 4 where the father is a doctor and the mother is a dentist. I think the latter family was making over $350,000/year. Of course the latter family was also that it just wasn't enough to finish building their million dollar home and pay for their kid's private schools and nannies etc. It's just ridiculous how people don't even think twice to spend more than they earn.

When you go around telling people how much they can spend, and on what, you are very close to socialism, especially if you are pushing people to live off of very small amounts of money.

People should be able to spend and save whatever amounts of money they want, including borrowing what others perceive to be recklessly to spend what they wish to spend. Obviously this will be limited by the amount of money they have in the bank (and other assets), and various lenders' willingness to lend to these people.

I've just added Lauda to my trust network. Lets see how this do.

I have a very different opinion of how the trust system works than Lauda. Lauda has annoyed the hell out of me on a number of occasions about trust related settings, to the point where I've considered adding them as the first and only person to my PM ignore list. I find them overly nosy and a bit abrasive.

That said, I do think they fill a valuable role on DT. My biggest problem with Lauda's trust ratings are their inclusion of merit related issues resulting in negative feedback, however, at least Lauda always leaves a good description of why they have received their negative feedback, people can ignore those if they are inclined the same way as me. In addition, I have every belief that once the merit system and whats acceptable about its use calms down, Lauda will abide by the community's decision on whats acceptable to leave negative feedback for.

I don't think its worth losing the most active feedback giver over that.

There are not any *actual* victims of people selling forum accounts.
Yes, there are.
The existence of a market for accounts makes "hacking" accounts profitable.
Therefore, a certain percentage of the people whose accounts have been "hacked" are victims of people selling forum accounts.
I don’t think selling accounts makes hacking accounts profitable. If you were to hack my account, and it was not possible to sell my account, you could scam someone with my account
Your argument seems to be "there are other ways to make money from a hacked account, not only selling it".
I can agree to that, but it doesn't really counter my point.
That's basically the same as saying "there are other ways to make money from shooting people, not only contract killing"... Tongue
I disagree. I view your argument to be that the sale of accounts makes hacking accounts profitable, and is therefore the reason accounts are hacked. My counter is that hacking of accounts would still be profitable if the sale of accounts was somehow prohibited.

When it comes to "Violating a contract", that's just nonsense.
You should read up on contract law.
