It's called fraud. Intentional deception made for personal gain.

What deception do you intend to prove, and who deceived you ? Be precise.

Reality check; what laws did these people break? Labcoin doesnt even exist as a legal entity, and there is no contract that binds anyone. Its even not obvious to prove involvement of the Alessi's, Ive not seen their signature on any document, all we have is hearsay.

The only way I see to get to them is by reporting them to security and exchange commissions for selling unregistered securities. If you are in the US, just contact the SEC. If you are in Hong Kong, contact the SFC. Ive only glanced over HK law, but selling unregistered company shares appears  just as illegal there as it is in almost all  other countries:

Apparently someone is lying.

Nah, "communication problems".

4.5 sounds too good to be true. Do you accept escrow? WHere are you shipping from (and to) ?

60C sounds quite good to me. Most of those VRMs should have no problem operating at 100C and more.

I was convinced it was a scam but that they had some chips nonetheless (albeit 180nm and possibly non fuctional). As it turns out, they dont have any chips at all, neither the 180 nor the 130nm design taped out.
Really? I just thought they did an order for the unfinished work, and with mistakes on the packaging.
What makes you think they didn't even bother?

Thats what howard wang said. The 180nm straight fpga port was too bad to even bother with, the 130nm design was never finished. No tape out, no chips.

So that the stupid will still say "but it's legit they have some chips".

I was convinced it was a scam but that they had some chips nonetheless (albeit 180nm and possibly non fuctional). As it turns out, they dont have any chips at all, neither the 180 nor the 130nm design taped out.

But yeah, some  people will still say its legit, and claim statements such as hashing with 2TH with non existing chips is just a communication problem Smiley.
2849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 07, 2013, 11:22:50 AM
My point is that the asics themselves may be adequately cooled, so upgrading those fans wont help. But the VRMs may be overheating. On 5870 videocards it was also a lot more tricky to keep VRM temps under control than the GPU itself. Pointing a fan on them or gluing some heatsinks on them may help.

ANyway, that is if this is a heat problem, it could be overcurrent too. Can someone with a KNC measure the temperatures of those VRMs? Or carefully feel with your finger?
2850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 07, 2013, 11:13:57 AM
I dont think replacing those artic cooler fans is going to do anything for preventing those caps or VRMs from burning out. Maybe adding or reorienting case fans may help if those components are overheating (are they?)
2851  Economy / Securities / Re: CoinTerra IPO [PicoStocks] *Scam* on: October 07, 2013, 08:21:31 AM
They are seriously overpriced with a market cap of 20m USD and their projected network share of 30% is doubtful.

I'll just put this here:

tl;dr - 251.9519 BTC payout from Just-Dice hot wallet to the above mentioned Labcoin wallet used for the IPO.

Nice catch. Wonder if this could be labcoin too:

2853  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 07, 2013, 06:42:18 AM
So labcoin has been looking to replace him for over a month?! No tapeout for the 130nm chip?!  WTF!

Not even a tapeout of the 180nm chip; they dont have anything, and thats even less than I was willing to believe.

On the bright side, no tapeouts and no chips means they had virtually zero expenses. If you are gullible enough to believe serial liars and scammers routinely return their loot to their victims, labcoin should still have almost all of the IPO coins.
2854  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Monarch butterfly prototype on: October 02, 2013, 10:30:09 PM
cooling those single's is positively childsplay compared to that Monarch. The fact they managed to botch that is telling.
2855  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Monarch butterfly prototype on: October 02, 2013, 10:23:32 PM
They are stock and the base appears (eyeballing the board and heatsink photos larger than the package size.

According to the drawings on arctic's site:
http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/cpu/473/freezer-a30.html
(click on compatibility, then scroll down)
it looks like the contact base front to back is no deeper than ~21mm, maybe 25mm if you include the aluminium bracket which Im not sure is supposed to make contact; thats considerably less than the 41mm of the KnC heatspeader. What picture are you looking at?

That wasn't my claim either.  Smaller chip, higher power consumption, constrained device size combined create a significant thermal "challenge".  Not impossible but BFL has had difficulty properly cooling devices with much lower power densities and much more "open" form factors.

BFL is no AMD and even AMD had issues (and 7 month delay) cooling the 7990 and the 7990 still uses less power than BFL design is simulated to use.  If BFL is even over moderately it could go from insanely difficult to (economically) impossible.

I think we are largely in agreement there.
2856  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 02, 2013, 10:08:55 PM
As far as i read its only the package that is faulty. So simply use another package with the next production run and you can reuse the chipdesign. He did not say that the chipdesign is faulty.

Yeah "only". The "only" problem with that is that the packaging is some sort of epoxy plastic, its not like you can change it after they have been packaged. That means you can throw them away, all of them. So you are left with that next production run, which usually takes at least 2 months for the wafer processing alone, assuming you planned this beforehand or the fab has spare capacity. Add the time for planning the wafer run,  packaging, mounting, assembly,  deploying. How much do you think those 130nm chips are going to be worth if they only start hashing in February?

According to TGB's optimistic scenario, and using labcoins most optimistic specs, they would mine $5 per chip in February, $2.5 in March and the total barely exceeds $8. Asics are cheap, but good luck having those chips produced at that price, including the PCBs, powersupplies and other overhead and somehow make a profit.

Its a loser.
2857  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Monarch butterfly prototype on: October 02, 2013, 09:43:27 PM
All things being the same the higher the heat flux the more complex the cooling to remove the same amount of energy (watts) from a smaller space.  Baring some exotic tech that means larger heat sinks, more efficient (heat pipes) heat sinks, and more airflow.   With the constraint of a dual slot cooler that puts some boundaries on what is possible in the airflow and size parameters.

My point is that BFL isnt going to struggle with hotspots on that chip and that its a smaller chip than KnC isnt their problem. Putting a 1000mm² heatspreader on a 300 mm² die (or set of dies) isnt going to work miraculously better than a 300mm³ heatspreader with a similar sized cooler. In fact, most overclockers will tell you you get better results by removing the CPU heatspreader and putting the cooler directly on the much smaller die (which is the case with most GPU's). The more important reason for that heatspreader is not miraculous heat conductivity, but making it less likely that you crack the chip or misalign the cooler..

Anyway, removing the 350+W of heat in a dual slot GPU sized package will be a stiff challenge, no question about that. Putting more than 2 in a case probably damn near impossible.  But I dont think it would be considerably easier with a monster size chip like KnC. In fact, and slightly OT,  Im looking forward to seeing some close ups of their cooling solution, AFAIk those  intel and amd coolers from Artic dont have a base surface area large enough to cover their entire heatspreader. Did they order a custom batch; or is part of their heatspreader not covered?

I what world would you expect a company with a few hundred dollar in total revenue to date and looking at at the very least at $100K's in expenses, to pay its shareholders a dividend?

Because thats what the contract says....

I know. But its telling isnt it?
2859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SilkRoad domain Seized? on: October 02, 2013, 06:10:25 PM
BTW, tip for anyone with BTC but without exchange.. start shopping on bitmit.net. Most retailers there use 24hr average from bitcoinaverage.
2860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SilkRoad domain Seized? on: October 02, 2013, 06:03:29 PM
Truly pathetic, if you think about it. BTC price was held up by addicts and perverts of SR.

Nope, it was held up by dreams of future value. What you see now is panic, its not drug users pulling out.
What bitcoin is worth without  silkroad will only be clear in a few months IMO. Between then and now, I wouldnt be shocked to see $20 before it starts climbing again.
