It's better to will the funds to some other person a relative or spouse that knows about bitcoin because a newbie in this niche may not understand that they need to hodl the coin or invest it back to make more money that will enable them to buy more bitcoins.

Although, they are a lot of bitcoin wallet filled with funds that cannot be accessed because the owners don't exist anymore. It's just a lost to the world and to the market as well. The idea is good when you have a learned lawyer.
2862  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CAN YOU EARN IN THIS FORUM? on: December 16, 2021, 03:36:40 AM

Welcome to Bitcointalk indeed it's a complex forum especially for new members. The best way to navigate here is to select some sections where contents shared there interests you. Not every section here talks about bitcoin and merits are awarded in those sections as well.

Don't invest much of your thought on earnings because it may seem tiring. Consider replying positively to those threads that you understand and believe that your comments will add to what the OP is saying. They are enough room for people to learn here without commenting or even creating an account but people that want to rank up and sell services on this forum need to add value to the forum and make enough engagements on topics shared on this forum.

2863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitmart to reimburse $200 million to customer on: December 13, 2021, 10:34:17 PM
Their Private Key got hacked. Exchanges are not safe considering the fact that all the funds deposited by customers to their address is stored on a hot wallet. So, it's very simple to recover all the funds once the private key is accessed. The company need to restructure the way they secure funds. I think paper wallet would be the best wallet for exchanges, and traders should be cautious about keeping huge funds on exchanges.
2864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 11 years without Satoshi on: December 13, 2021, 10:17:48 PM
In spite of his absence he knew that his bitcointalk forum disciples will break records. Alot have been achieved with the disappearance of Satoshi. The cryptocurrency market generally accolades Satoshi Nakamoto because he is inaccessible. If Satoshi was available to answer a bunch of questions in press conferences he will get alot of critics that may hinder the progress of bitcoin.

He made bitcoin but today we are all co-owners of bitcoin and millions of traders and investors are impressed with the technology that have made more millionaires than the entertainment industry within 10 years of existence.
2865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I bought $271 worth of Bitcoin in late 2009 on: December 13, 2021, 10:05:55 PM
OP the answers here states that you are framing a story because your thread is not clear. This forum was created in 2009 by Satoshi and Bitcoin was worth $0 as of 2009. Could it be that a member of this forum sold his own bitcoins to OP. Because, this is the only website he is able to remember and is asking for help here as well.

Op have you been in this forum in the past? If yes then make some detailed write up about your dispute and the development team can help you. Although your reward is too much and can sponsor a signature campaign for everyone in this forum as a vote of thanks to the forum.

If only your thread is clear the forum will be able to grant you help.
2866  Other / Off-topic / Brain Teasing Story, Your Opinions are Needed on: December 12, 2021, 09:24:11 AM

Hello Bitcoiners share your thoughts in this fascinating but funny story about a company.n

Bryan worked for KoJO and Co as a Warehouse Supervisor. His main duties were to supervise the delivery of goods (primarily raw materials for the manufacturing operations) into the warehouse and to deliver the goods, as requested, to the manufacturing lines. He was also responsible for the accurate recording of all items in the warehouse. He had a team of two warehouse operatives reporting to him. KoJO and Co made a range of parts for the motor industry. They employed 1000 people on an old manufacturing site in Cyprus. The site was in a rough area, so there was 24-hour security.

There had been complaints that the security staff (security is sub-contracted to a local security firm) were not vigilant, and there had been a number of thefts from the site over recent months. One Saturday morning in December the manufacturing part of the business was working overtime. Bryan and his team were also on-site, providing raw materials to the manufacturing lines as usual. At 10.30 am three men drew up to the site in an old van and did not stop when the Security Officer waved at them to pull over. The van went straight down to the warehouse. The three men got out of the van and approached Bryan asking him if he was responsible for the scrap metal. Bryan was responsible for it – scrap metal was stored in the warehouse until it was assessed, weighed, and bought by a local dealer. Some of the scrap metal was sold for large sums of money. Bryan agreed that he was responsible for the scrap metal and the three men gestured to a skip full of scrap stainless steel and said that they wanted to buy it for $200. Bryan did not know how much the scrap stainless steel was worth but knew that he did not have the authority to sell it. What happened next is unclear – but it is a fact that the three men loaded up the stainless steel onto their van and drove off.

The Security Officer arrived at the warehouse just in time to see the van driving off. He asked Bryan what had happened – and Bryan recounted the story. Whilst telling the Security Officer, Bryan pointed at the skip of scrap stainless steel and the Security Officer realized that it was empty. The Security Officer immediately decided to search Bryan – and found $200 in cash in the top pocket of his overalls. Bryan become upset and claimed that he knew nothing about the $200. He said that the three men had become aggressive with him when he refused to sell them the scrap – and they did ‘brush by him’. He said that they must have put the $200 in his pocket without him knowing it. The Security Officer was unclear about what to do because no management was on site. He contacted the Manufacturing Supervisor for advice who, in turn, phoned you.

The Security Officer and the two Warehouse Operatives had actually seen very little of the incident and knew nothing that really helped to explain what had happened. There is a CCTV footage which, unfortunately, did not show the actual meeting between Bryan and the three men. The Manufacturing Manager has informed you that the scrap that had been in the skip was actually worth about $1000. Bryan was still unable to explain how he had ended up with $200 in his pocket, and he could not explain how the three men were able to load the scrap metal onto their van without him noticing. He just keeps protesting his innocence. Bryan had worked for KOJO and Co for 32 years. He was the treasurer of the organization’s cooperative club. He was well respected and liked by everyone – management, peers, and subordinates. He had a clean disciplinary record. The organization had always operated a ‘no tolerance policy towards any theft. As the People and Admin Officer, how would you handle this case?
2867  Other / Beginners & Help / My network is not your network, crosscheck before sending funds! on: December 07, 2021, 07:11:44 AM
People's experience are shared here all the time. But, this thread is what i experienced about different networks, how they operate, how to recover a missing fund sent to the wrong network, how some funds can get stuck in a network and the work of network bridges.

Last few days, I sent 0.01Eth to my metamask wallet using a KCC network and the transaction ticked completed on the exchange but for 24 hours I was not able to see the funds on my wallet.

Luckily metamask supports the KCC network. If not I would be compelled to import my private key to a wallet that supports KCC network. So, I integrated the KCC network into my metamask network using these instructions.

Code:
Network Name: KCC-MAINNET

New RPC URL: https://rpc-mainnet.kcc.network

Chain ID: 321

Currency Symbol: KCS

Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.kcc.io/

NOTE: This is applicable to any other network you can find out their configuration settings. For metamask, go to settings and select network then input the configuration code and the network will be integrated into your wallet.

After this step my funds didn't appear. So, I had to import ethereum token into the KCC MAINNET network on my wallet using this format.

Code:
Token Contract address: 0xf55af137a98607f7ed2efefa4cd2dfe70e4253b1

Token symbol: ETH

Token Decimal: 18

After importing the tokens my funds appeared. But one other issue was finding who makes use of the KCC network. (So, I have to make use of network bridges).

     How to restore funds sent to the wrong network?

Please verify that the receiving wallets shares same network as yours before sending your money. But, the mistake can get corrected. Funds may get lost if the right steps are not taken.

You need the mnemonic code converter to get started

Follow this link for the proper instructions that will get your funds recovered = https://community.trustwallet.com/t/how-to-recover-funds-sent-to-a-wrong-public-address/145

      List of some Networks and their exchanges.

Some exchanges may not require you to use network bridges because they already support some other networks on their site. This link below will help guide you better as well. Whether you need a Bridge or not.

Network Bridges: Read definition

To complete my experience, I found a reputable member on this forum (@cryptoprenuerbrainboss) that shares same network as mine and sent the funds to him and he helped me exchange the fund.

My next step would have been sending the funds back to the exchange and then resend to my wallet using erc-20 as the appropriate network.

This thread will guide newbies to be careful before forwarding funds to other wallet address. The steps I took to restore my missing eth can be applicable to any coin, wallet or network. But, the instruction will differ. Please check this thread for replies that will be of help or visit your wallet community for guide if you make such a mistake in future or have done such a mistake and don't know how to recover your funds.

Cheers!

I would say that OP is wrong. People should do what they hate! This is the only way they will remain consistent in the field they are into. Doing what you like shows that millions of people in the world love the work too. So, you will find so many competitors which is a red flag for anybody that is starting a business.

Doing things you hate keeps you on the job for long trying to love it in the first place. Moreover the orientation has changed. Stop doing what you love because the journey will get boring on the long run.
2869  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you make money online right now? on: November 30, 2021, 08:27:36 PM
Well, I make money through marketing but not anybody's product. I spend most of my time promoting my product. But, it's a bit difficult to promote my products because the sales i get for now is low. However, it's part of the journey, soon I will be making enough profit when I have done enough promotion for myself. Good, to see you are a promoter as well. Good luck.

2871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: School Students learning bitcoin basics in Slovakia.. on: November 30, 2021, 05:48:31 PM
The weird thing is that there is no backstory alongside the image. I’ve looked through the whole Twitter thread and sought through www, but alas came back empty handed. The image unfortunately does not tell us if the book was used for promotional purposes within the classroom, whether this is a one-off or a regular presence in that school/more schools, whether is down to a nerdy teacher’s interest, or whatever. Context matters ...

The author may have chosen to use the word bitcoin to sell the book. A book cannot be judged by it's cover. I saw this thread on twitter too. But, could find nothing but hypes of bitcoin and the country that took such a step. It could be a business study book, c'mon how will kids go about bitcoin, what exactly is in the book for them to understand.

I ask myself, where exactly is the book centered so as to cement it's contents on the brain of these kids, could it be blockchain technology, trading, mining, development etc, every niche attached to bitcoin is complex for kids to understand.

What if the school concealed her intention just to trend on the internet at large.
2872  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to build Libsecp256k1 when running Electrum from a cloned repository. on: November 30, 2021, 05:31:53 PM
It's highly necessary to write your own code (optimized assembly) to improve the performance of your program. Using Gcc-03

Actually, this is something you do not want to do with any cryptography library or any other encryption library, because sometimes, -O3 introduces side-channel attacks that are difficult to find because they are not in the code.

A classic example is removing no-op codes that don't appear to do anything, but stall execution so that someone can't hook up an oscilloscope to your computer to make a graph of the heat coming out of your processor (indicates when an operation is doing a slow operation instead of a fast one e.g. multiply instead of add).

Since the encryption algorithms go through a lot of loops, the same procedure can be used to discover the computational operations done in each loop.

It is better to not build with any optimization at all, and pass these flags to the build process:

Code:
CFLAGS="-fPIE -fstack-protector-all -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2"
LDFLAGS="-Wl,-z,now -Wl,-z,relro"

Turns on ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization), and protects you from buffer overflows and stacks belonging to random functions from being overwritten by bad code.

If you do want faster performance for these kind of programs then you must buy a faster processor, there's no way around it.

Thank you for schooling me about the implementation attack attached to using Gcc-03.

Focusing on speed, the march option -march=cpu-type helps so much. For instance, -malign-double is compatible to *86-64. When a double variable is arranged with a two word boundaries the speed of the code sets to run faster on a Pentium and takes much memory.

At the level of my understanding, Image affects the speed of a program using gcc. So, my question is, are you condemning gcc entirely on this kind of program or just for the side channel attack disadvantage that it comes with?
2873  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Growing Bitcoin demand among people.... on: November 30, 2021, 04:18:57 PM
Talented artists have the idea that they won't remain in the music mainstream for long. A time will come, up and coming talented musicians will hijack the industry from them. So, now is the best time to invest their income. Learning from their predecessors that spent their wealth lavishly on expensive cars and chain necklaces which led a lot of them in-debts. Some faced tax invasion case in court which ruined their career the more.

Bitcoin is the best idea for trending artists right now. However, they need to plan ahead of time. So, when they retire they will have a legit wealth to fall back to. But, hope they are all aware that bitcoin is a two edged sword it could turn out to be profitable or may be a catastrophe.

IT WILL BE  ;DFUN TO HAVE CELEBRITIES RUNNING TO THIS FORUM TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT BITCOIN.

I was thinking that OP was talking about malicious information relating to members details. But, I don't see any sense in what he just wrote. In my understanding maybe Newbies give information a kind of asking questions, while members share information inform of answers. OP should make us to comprehend what we just read.
2875  Bitcoin / Electrum / How to build Libsecp256k1 when running Electrum from a cloned repository. on: November 30, 2021, 10:54:42 AM
Lib; is a library for cryptography on the secp256k1 made available for the public.

Electrum we know is a python program. They are different methods of running an electrum like TAR.gz which the installation code for electrum is made available on github to be.

Code:
sudo apt-get install python3-setuptools python3-pip
python3 -m pip install --user .

This thread shows the implementation details of Libsecp256K1 when running Electrum alternatively.

Below is a script provided to build Libsecp256k1

Code:
sudo apt-get install automake libtool
./contrib/make_libsecp256k1.sh

How to Build Libsecp256k1

It's highly necessary to write your own code (optimized assembly) to improve the performance of your program. Using Gcc-03

Requirement = Autotool

Code:
$ ./autogen.sh
$ ./configure
$ make
$ make check
$ sudo make install  # optional

Checking for Bugs

Code:
$ ./exhaustive_tests

Memory debugging using Valgrind

Code:
$ valgrind --max-stackframe=2500000 ./exhaustive_tests

CREATE A TEST COVERAGE USING GCC WITH
Quote
--enable-coverage

Code:
$ ./configure --enable-coverage

Execute the test

Code:
$ make check

Open a report using gcovr

Code:
$ gcovr --exclude 'src/bench*' --print-summary

Open a HTML report with colored and annotated source code

Code:
$ mkdir -p coverage
$ gcovr --exclude 'src/bench*' --html --html-details -o coverage/coverage.html

These codes were shared on github. I decided to share on this forum to reduce the hassle of looking for them on github.

My source: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum .

The link above consists of the code required to run Electrum.

Would appreciate if you contribute to this thread, I seek knowledge on this aswell. cheers.
2876  Other / Serious discussion / Re: We need new ideologies on: November 29, 2021, 12:03:44 PM
The ideology of Robot was not to take away jobs from humans but to assist us to handle some repetitive jobs without distractions. On the other hand, alot of people will get employed to operate the machine. But, what is more important in this era is to keep exploring and learning new skills because the world keeps changes in technology.

AI brings forth perfection to any task assigned to it. And, they will be reduction of workplace accidents. Like Op, it's a welcomed development. Although they must be disadvantages because people in that position occupied by a robot will lose their jobs.
2877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to Ethereum after the release of ETH2.0? on: November 29, 2021, 09:01:46 AM
Eth 2.0 has been long-awaited. I know the version will come along with a speed capable of competing with the Bitcoin Lightning network. Hopefully, the transaction fees of Ethereum will be affected positively. The price of Ethereum will increase as well because of the high number of people who have invested in the Ethereum 2.0 version. I hold to the motion that ethereum will make a good change after the launch of the new version. But it's taking a long time though.
2878  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to identify some scam websites. on: November 29, 2021, 08:47:46 AM
A good platform that is not intending to scam its investors will not guarantee a huge return of investment within a short period. Avoid random projects you see on telegram. They're not recommended unless you've done due research. Another criterion is to know the blockchain they hosted the coin. If they claim to have their blockchain other than ERC20 or Blockchain, then move away from the platform cause it won't help as they may be a scam project

2880  Other / Archival / Re: Newbies, don't be naive on: November 29, 2021, 08:22:14 AM
The best knowledge is that which you garnered on your sweat. However, recalling that cryptocurrency is accessible through the internet. Where you can get a piece of free information for 50 bucks or more from another marketer that wants to make quick money like you. Almost all the selling methods are compiled from free information shared on forums.

These marketers know how to play with your fantasies with captions like earn 500 dollars in one week. You've heard it's possible to make much money or more in cryptocurrency but you don't care how. All matter is, you've found the super E-book that made the seller such amount weekly. Why is he selling the cow? He replies that he wants to give back to the community. Then you fall for the same scam as the others.

He just made $50 out of you (like OP said) with the same information which you could get free of charge if you had the patience to scout the web for every information you need.

Learn to ask questions, a lot of people here have the correct answers to any question related to cryptocurrency. Even before paying for any service. Ask a question here.
