It will be difficult for casinos to implement such rule as to only allow the good players to play, those who can afford to lose as they have no way of knowing it.The banks who usually give out loans do not care for what the loan is used as long as the person is able to pay them back including the asked percentage of interest.

What should be done is to create some sort of program in gambling rehab centers that borrowing money is never a good way to be spent in gambling. Also if these people happen to read good books like "Rich dad, poor dad" they will learn that the best thing to do with borrowed money is to invest them in a side business.

It will not be that difficult. The casinos can just ask the players to get a statement from any of the banks to prove that they are in good financial health. But doing so would nullify the anonymity and also a lot of the players who don't want to go through this tedious process would rather rely on underground and illegal casinos instead. Also, the casinos know that a large fraction of their clients are those with poor financial background, or having addiction issues. Obviously they don't want to lose too many customers by being ethical.

There are reasons for everything that happens. Both the growth of Brand oil and the fall of the ruble Smiley
There is no reason to talk about Urals trade at 60 dollars with India, when settlements are made with discounts, in rupees and in addition a significant part of the money from these supplies is simply frozen ! Don't hesitate to read Russian news, even there they write about "unfriendly behavior of Indian partners" Smiley

Care to explain this?

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/russian-oil-discount-shrinks-87-to-4/barrel-as-sellers-game-shipping-insurance-to-skirt-g7-price-cap/articleshow/101619068.cms?from=mdr

As per Indian sources, the discount on Russian crude has decreased to almost nothing. Average discounts are now around $4 per barrel, compared to sharp markdowns of $25 to $30 per barrel that the Indian traders enjoyed a few months ago.

Also, this:

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/07/13/energy/russian-oil-price-cap-breached/index.html

The price of Urals crude has gone past $60 per barrel, which was the limit set by Western countries while implementing their price cap. And I think it will go up even further, as the Brent crude prices have gone past $80 per barrel. In the market there is a shortage of supply as a result of production cuts from Russia and Saudi Arabia.

~
Today's match was full of twists, when Sultana Khatun and Shamima Sultana got out consecutively, I was 100% confirmed that Bangladesh will lose today's match as well. But Bangladesh did not lose any more wickets after that and Bangladesh avoided a whitewash in T20 by defeating India by 4 wickets.
Two surprising matches in the women's game, the first one was the dominating performance by Sri Lanka Women winning the match chasing 140 set by New Zealand, i was expecting New Zealand to defend the total but Sri Lanka won by 10 wickets. And then Bangladesh restricting India for 102 runs and Bangladesh avoiding the whitewash and winning the final match.

I guess the win by Bangladesh against India is more significant. In men's cricket we almost never get such results. To their defense, India seems to be struggling as a result of their main pacer (Renuka Singh Thakur) being unavailable. Anyway, staying competitive in the ODIs will be much more difficult. The first match in the ODI series will start on 16th July, and the Bangladeshi women have a tough job in their hand. It is a three-match series and ideally they should look forward to use the home conditions and win the series.

Among the Indian batsmen, Shubman Gill is the only one who missed out, as he was dismissed for just 6 runs by Jomel Warrican. Everyone else got a good boost to their career batting stats, including the debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal. Rohit Sharma badly needed this boost after a few ordinary performances in the recent past. And let's not forget those players who got the opportunity to boost their career bowling stats, such as Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. I guess that is the only purpose of this series. BTW, it was a good opportunity for the selectors to test some of the younger players (apart from Jaiswal).

Despite the fact that this particular thread is very active with the users, the tournament itself hasn't taken off in a big way. Ticket sales have been lukewarm, and yesterday it was announced that the organizers will be giving out 20,000 tickets for free in New Zealand. This was despite an appeal from Jacinda Ardern (former Prime Minister) to the general public, to show more interest in the tournament. 5,000 tickets each will be handed out in cities of Wellington, Hamilton, Auckland and Dunedin. Hopefully this will ensure that the stands are not empty during the matches.

Let's see how it will be going on. I saw the latest update from him. Henderson already agreed in verbal agreement with ettifaq. His salary gonna be increase 5 times compared with his salary in liverpool. He has told klopp regarding his decision and klopp has been approving his hope to leave from the club and join in the ettifaq to play under steven gerrard. Just because he was captain of liverpool and it doesn't mean his movement to the ettifaq is inevitable.

I think that fabinho is gonna try to follow his movement to leave from liverpool and join in saudi club. Saudi's offer is very lucrative, and it's very hard to reject it. I will never pay Henderson 5 times more compared with his salary in liverpool.
Good luck to henderson in ettifaq. Saudi clubs are aiming more players from liverpool.

Saudi Professional League is moving in the right direction. During the last 2-3 months they have signed a number of quality players from various European leagues. There were a few let downs, like Messi moving to Inter Miami after rejecting the offer from Al Hilal, but in general they are moving in the right direction. And I can see that a lot of people are unhappy. Not just the management of the European clubs, but also many of the fans. I was going through the Daily Mail article regarding the move by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The comments section was full of hate filled posts by English football fans.

As a Bangladeshi I can't agree with you just because Afghanistan is a worthy contender in the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh series doesn't mean you should mock Bangladesh. Yes they lost two matches in a row against Afghanistan by a huge margin of runs, it is definitely a humiliating loss for the team in Bangladesh. By changing three players in the third match, they won with a lot of power, although the Bangladesh team did not win the series. However, after two bad matches, they tried to turn around in match number three. I think the current World Cup will definitely play with big teams keeping in mind their loss against Afghanistan. All the best for Bangladesh team, may they give better game to cricket fans in future.

I was mentioning about the disparity in funding. The funding from ICC should be proportional to the performance of the team. And Bangladesh should be at the bottom, since they have been performing poorly for the last two decades. How can you justify the fact that fund allocation for Bangladesh is more than that of South Africa? And it's not like they were playing with a second string squad. Most of their regular players were available for Bangladesh. And also they had the home advantage, although it was neutralized by the fact that Afghanistan do have some good spinners.
2868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 14, 2023, 01:40:05 AM
I do not understand why the Indian team is playing test cricket against WI. The WI team is in such bad shape that it is worthless to even play against them. All I am able to foresee is that the ongoing series will only help India's ranking on the ICC table. I am not going to see the test match as I know India would easily win the match. BCCI should have canceled this bilateral and any in the future until the WI side is good enough to play against India.

This is one of the reasons why test cricket is dying. I don't have any issues in India playing against West Indies in T20I or ODI formats. The matches will still be one sided, but not as much as the clown show that is going on right now. It looks like India will get to a total of 600 or 700, and may then bowl out West Indies for somewhere around 150 to win the test by an innings and 300 runs. And let's not forget the fact that West Indies is playing in their own backyard. The ICC doesn't want to do anything regarding this, because WICB wants revenue from TV rights.

Watching the match between Texas Super Kings and Los Angeles Knight Riders right now, which is the inaugural match of the Major League Cricket. There seems to be a lot of support from the fans, as the stands are looking quite full. But at the same time, I couldn't notice any natives among the attendees. Seems to be entirely comprised of expats from South Asia, with a sprinkling from the West Indies. For now, Texas Super Kings has the advantage with the partnership between Devon Conway and David Miller taking them to 101/2 after 12 overs.
2870  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: July 13, 2023, 10:36:23 AM
^^^ OK.. so Jordan Henderson is the next big signing. I just hope that Saudis are planning this for the long term. If they sign all these top players and then refuse to renew their contract after 2 years, then it won't be in good taste. BTW, Liverpool is reportedly demanding around £17 million to release Henderson (his current salary is around £7,280,000 per year). So Al Ettifaq need to reach a deal with them as well. So it is going to be a tough three-way negotiation between Al Ettifaq guys, Henderson and Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool manager).
2871  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 13, 2023, 10:26:23 AM
As of now, the match is more or less evenly posed, with India at a slight advantage. For their credit, the Indian women put up a respectable total of 102/9 after a decent partnership between Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues. None of the other batters scored more than 15, as Bangladeshi bowlers were well disciplined. And the third wicket partnership between Shamima Sultana and Nigar Sultana has so far added 37 runs for the third wicket. If Bangladesh want to win, then these two need to stay there for at least 4-5 overs more.
2872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 13, 2023, 10:16:54 AM
Doubt that...

Because most of the time none of Windies batters picked up Ashwin and Jadeja that well, they both bagged 8 wickets. Particularly Ashwin was doing all sorts of things and at times it felt like he was toying with the batters with his variations.

The hype around Jaiswal seems promising but let's see where he stands after the 10+test match.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is someone with a first class batting average of 80.21. But considering the quality of first-class cricket in India (it can't be compared with the county championship of England or Sheffield Shield of Australia). But yesterday he started quite solidly against a quality bowling attack, that had Kemar Roach, Alzarri Joseph and Jason Holder. There was no undue haste and he batted rather cautiously. But the problem for Indian selectors is over-availability of talent and not the scarcity of quality players. If Jaiswal needs to be included, then either Gill or Kishan needs to be dropped. And what will happen once Pant is back?
2873  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: July 13, 2023, 07:40:32 AM
^^^^ The next season of Saudi Professional League will be a blockbuster one. They are signing so many star players who are currently playing in the European leagues. The contract with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is worth £34 million, which will work to £17 million per season. And this time Lazio wanted to keep him at any cost, but in the end they could not compete with the Saudi Arabian money power. His current salary at Lazio is just around £3,900,000 per year, so that means that he will be getting more than 4x increase from Al Hilal.

The Saudi Arabian pro league was nothing compared to European football until now, they started to make impressive signings. When it comes to paying big sums for players, Saudi clubs are untouchable; they always get the best alternatives. They always remain willing to make substantial proposals for players, and European clubs have no match against these clubs. Saudi clubs are coming forth key players, and we are expecting an entirely different league. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is a quality player, and after Lazio failed to sign him, he most likely triggered his departure to a club that valued his career.

Al Hilal is already having an impressive roster. Apart from Kalidou Koulibaly and Rúben Neves, they have local star Nasser Al-Dawsari. And then there is André Carrillo and Moussa Marega. Addition of Sergej Milinković-Savić will further strengthen their squad. And let's not forget the fact that Al-Hilal finished at the 3rd place in this year's Saudi Professional League. They were far behind the champions Al-Ittihad, but Al Hilal had an impressive run this time with 17 wins from a total of 30 matches. They lost just 5 matches and had a goal difference of +25.

^^^ OK... I was generalizing. I was hinting that Lankan women have a number of players who take part in franchise T20 leagues around the world. Chamari Athapaththu has represented Perth Scorchers Women and Melbourne Renegades Women in the WBBL, as well as Guyana Amazon Warriors Women in the WCPL. She also represented the Super Women in WPSL exhibition matches. Don't know much about the other players though. I remember Udeshika Prabodhani participating in the FairBreak Invitational Tournament a few months back.

I noticed two things in the last few months. First of all, the price of Brent crude has rocketed past $80 per barrel, and this level was achieved after many months. The supply cuts announced and implemented by Russia and Saudi Arabia seems to be having the desired impact on the market. Urals crude is trading at close to $60 per barrel, as per Indian importers. Including freight and insurance, EXW cost is around $80 per barrel (still around $10 per barrel cheaper than Saudi crude). Second thing is that the RUR has been devalued at an alarming rate. In 12 months, it has lost 50% of its value against the USD.
2876  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: July 13, 2023, 05:49:10 AM
Do they though? I get that their goalkeeper had some great saves, but would you consider him one of the best? I wouldn't. Look at their defense, do you really consider any of them as one of the best defenders? They are not top 5 in their position, none of them. They do have a decent midfield, and without Messi that midfield looks like it's just good, not great, not best, just good.

I feel like Argentina doesn't really have a great roster, they do have one of the best team chemistries in the world right now and with world cup that went up even more, they are literally a family at this point but I do not think that they are more talented than others. In any case, Messi will be there, and when you have Messi, you may end up getting a win anyway.

Well. Argentina do have the most valuable player (Lionel Messi) right now. And now coming to other players, I agree that they don't get included if we create a list of top-5 for each position (Emi Martinez IMO is one of the top-5 keepers though). But they work together fantastically as a team. At this point, Argentina has the best team bonding for any of the teams. This is something that is sorely lacking with UEFA teams like France and England. Don't get me started on the fight between Adrien Rabiot on one side and Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe on the other, in which some of the family members got involved.
2877  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 13, 2023, 05:29:47 AM
I don't know what is the point in having these sort of test matches. In all probability, West Indies is going to lose this match by an innings and ~300 runs. West Indies is a team that failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup in 2023, after losing to both Scotland and Netherlands. Their performance in test format is even worse than that in limited overs. What was the need for India to tour them and play so many matches against them (well, I know that the calendar from ICC mandates such matches). In the end the WICB don't care and they will be happy as long as they gets money from media rights deals.
India has been out of the game for a long time after losing the Test Championship. I agree with you that there is no point in playing such matches. But India pays more to ICC so maybe they have a bit more priority. India tour West Indies to burn themselves. For this they always pick weak team. West Indies failed to qualify for their ODI World Cup which is disappointing for West Indies. India will win blindly with this disappointing team. India has come to West Indies to get their players back in form. You will see that the Asia Cup will start after the West Indies tour. So this tour of India is a plus point to prepare themselves.

I have been saying this for a long time. We need to have more divisions in test cricket. Maybe, there should be 15 teams divided in to 3 divisions, with each division having 5 teams. In a given cycle, teams within the same division need to play against each other once, and there should be one series per cycle between any one team from the first division with any one team from second and third divisions. So in total, there would be 6 series (4 in the same division, and one each with other divisions). My proposal to divide teams are as follows:

Division 1: India, Australia, New Zealand, England and Pakistan
Division 2: South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan
Division 3: Ireland, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal
2878  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 13, 2023, 04:56:03 AM
Bangladesh was always favorite against Afghanistan in this series especially in ODI series but cricket is a game of uncertainty which team will win in advance. If the six-ball batsmen play a wrong shot or the six-ball bowlers play too well within 50 overs, the turn of the match can change at any moment. Although Bangladesh is the favorite of this series in the ledger, Afghanistan has shown very well on the field, as a result of which Afghanistan was able to win the series against Bangladesh in the first two matches. I won't blame Bangladesh for this series loss because they still have many opportunities in front of them but not to praise Afghanistan they came to Bangladesh and lost the ODI series to Bangladesh, Afghanistan really deserves praise.

Afghanistan deserves praise and Bangladesh deserves ridicule. As simple as that. Losing at home, that too against a team like Afghanistan is inexcusable. And they have been performing like this for the last 2.5 decades. The ICC needs to take note of this and make necessary changes to the annual fund allocation. As per the new fund allocation cycle, Bangladesh is about to get $26.74 million per year, compared to $16.82 million for Afghanistan. How can you justify this big difference for the two teams? And the biggest joke is that South Africa is supposed to receive a smaller amount when compared to Bangladesh.
2879  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 13, 2023, 04:36:57 AM
I would say it was an incredible result. The Sri Lankan women's team was relatively weak. However, they put up a good fight against New Zealand in this series. Sri Lankan players have performed very well in every match. A huge target of 141 in the last match for Sri Lanka to win without losing a wicket was a completely unexpected result. Sri Lanka Women's team is slowly improving. It is hoped that if this continues, this group will become stronger in the next few years. And will challenge teams like Australia/England.

Nothing sort of incredible.

Sri Lanka had the home advantage and several of their players are participating in the WPL and other franchise leagues around the world. They won the third match after losing the first two, which means that New Zealand women had an away series win by a margin of 2-1. And in the third match also, New Zealand women put up a good total. Sri Lanka won the match only due to the good opening partnership. Anyway, the ODI series was won by Sri Lanka with a margin of 2-1. So it is not all doom and gloom for the Lankan women.
2880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 13, 2023, 04:18:59 AM
West Indies might be having a bad time right now. But a renowned team in cricket history is West Indies. This group was quite strong a few days ago. But now they are a very weak team. They could not qualify for the ODI World Cup. Such a poor performance in the Test series against India was not expected. The team lost all the wickets to collect only 150 runs. Aswin took 5 wickets and Jadeja 3 wickets. I wouldn't even say the pitch is completely bowling-friendly. Because India scored 80 runs without losing any wickets.

When was the last time that West Indies played competitively against the pig-4? They have been playing like this for sometime. There are two main reasons. First of all, they have a very biased selection policy, which discriminates against players from certain races and religions. Players like Ravindranath Rampaul have spoken against this. And secondly, their players are more interested in participating in franchise leagues around the world, rather than playing for the national team. And also, let's not forget the fact that West Indies is an amalgam of different island countries.
