Memorizing the seed phrase will be okay if the person is really good in memorization.
What you thought you have memorized and knew for years can still be forgotten. Haven't that happened to you before? It has happened to me. I was surprised that I forgot my highschool anthem after many years that I finished from the school. That is just one example, there are many. If you check my posts on this thread, the memorization I am talking about should be the fourth backup while not depending on it. The best are offline backups.
2862  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What will be the future of Binance till 2025? on: October 02, 2022, 06:17:41 PM
The question can just be that 'can Binance be hacked'? Exchanges can be hacked. But I do not know if it is going to be to the extent that Binance would fold up and stop providing crypto exchanges services. It is not good to leave your coins on exchanges, not only Binance but all exchanges. Save you coins on a good noncustodial wallet and never too much be bothered about if Binance can fold up. Crypto self custody is the best. If trading, leave just little amount on exchanges.
2863  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paper can easily get ruined, fast. on: October 02, 2022, 01:18:47 PM
Yea, paper can destroy and happen anything. If you have just one copy then you would lose your funds. Your device and paper that you wrote seed destroyed for any reason mean everything is gone. I don't think we memorize seed phrases anyway. The best practice is to keep it in safe places and not only a single copy. All the important seeds should have multiple copies, so all shouldn't be destroyed at once.
But what about natural disasters? It can affect large areas in a way even if the seed phrase is backup in different locations, the whole house and many other houses can be distroyed and everything is lost. It is not good to depend on memory, but there can be sometimes that it can be helpful. Have offline backups on papers in different locations is advisable, that is true, but what can be done if natural disasters like earthquake or flooding occur in a way someone's home is affected, property destroyed and the three seed phrase in different locations all got lost?

Assuming someone is in Pakistan when that flooding began?

A third of Pakistan is underwater amid its worst floods in history. Here’s what you need to know

More than 1,100 people have died from the floods since mid-June, nearly 400 of them children, while millions have been displaced, according to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

Floods have impacted 2 million acres of crops and killed more than 794,000 heads of livestock across Pakistan

I'll recommend that you find one secure location or means and save it, your mind will always be there and you will not lose it.
People from the Christian background will know this statement "Where ever your wealth is, there will your mind be"
Mistake can happen in a way the one seed phrase backup would be lost? At least, have two backups or three. The second or third can even be inside the wall of your house to be the last thing to do if the first seed phrase is lost. Another one can be inside your mattress in a way you can loose the mattress cloth, cut the mattress foam with a blade and insert the seed phrase paper backup, gum the mattress foam back with glue in a way the seed phrase is not affected and sole back the cloth. Another is a paper at your backyard buried under the sand in a very small metallic box. There are many ways you can think to backup seed phrase differently that it would be difficult for anyone to see it. But which may not resist natural disaster.
2864  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paper can easily get ruined, fast. on: October 01, 2022, 06:53:49 PM
To avoid natural disasters like earthquake, landslide, flooding or many others like that, it is good to have your seed phrase offhand. This is not advisable at all, it is good to backup your seed phrase in different places instead, but after that, you can have it offhand, but do not depend on your memory at all, but it may be helpful.
2865  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your information Diet on: October 01, 2022, 01:56:28 PM
In all of this, What information diet are you receiving about crypto? Are you watching your information diet about cryptocurrency? Or you are just following random opinions
If you have seen some lies on crypto news sites, you will not want to follow people's opinions, you will highly prefer your own opinions. Today, person A would say something, tomorrow person B will say another that is contrasting to what person A said yesterday about the recent trends and . Plenty misconceptions are online.

I prefer to follow my own ideas and I use different approaches.
2866  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you change your mind on gambling ? on: October 01, 2022, 08:12:34 AM
I think you should know that your ISP can track your online activities and they know if you are visiting gambling sites on your cell phone and computer. They can give this data to the government anytime if they feel like or if the government demands it. So i hope you are using a paid VPN and you know all the tips and tricks to hide your identity online. It's still not safe to play gambling online if the government had banned it already.
If someone do not have money for paid VPN, he can just use the ones like ProtonVPN, there are free part of it that people can enjoy, but the servers available can be congested at times, but with no ads. But most free VPN are not advisable because of ads and they are not secure and safe at all.

Before using a VPN for a gambling site, better to check it on the gambling site terms and conditions before using it. As for me, I can not use VPN for gambling, but gambling is legal in my country.
2867  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman Abandons 4-year-old Child In Gambling Shop As Collateral After Huge Losses on: October 01, 2022, 08:06:34 AM
It just demonstrates how gambing is an extremely dangerous addiction for some people!
This type of situation is worrying and delicate, and this woman needs to be punished for it and also undergo some kind of treatment, because this type of attitude is not normal.
If you read the news, the police and the journalist have not yet known what actually happened, if this is truly totally related to gambling or not.

Also it can remain the fact that only the woman can be able to answer the question.

That is Nigeria, people are frustrated in Nigeria with increasing poverty and low standard of living. We do not know what that woman is going through that led to that. People in a developed country may see it as another thing, but it may be lack of money and poverty that caused it. It is good to have money, but Nigeria is just one of the worst country that people are living below the poverty line.

What kind of mother is she and what kind of casino that accept a kid as collateral?
Maybe someone borrowed her money in agreement that if she did not pay back, he will collect his child.
2868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Parents And Their Children In Gambling.. on: October 01, 2022, 07:59:28 AM
Here it is about the wealthy father who have allowed his son to enjoy what he have earned. Parenting needs to show the kids what is right and what is wrong. Some feel gambling to be entertaining, because they've got money to have fun. But the same doesn't suit all levels of people. Look at the thread Woman Abandons 4-year-old Child In Gambling Shop As Collateral After Huge Losses which is kind of an addiction that the rich ones won't experience because money isn't a concern.
Everyone has their own mistakes to learn from, people like to try something out. I have a friend, he gambled for the first time, he lost and he never gambled again as he has been saying after the lost, that is his experience. The Money my friend used could be small to us, but not small to the poor. He is not rich like Micheal Jordan's son but the money used was small to him. That means the money Michael Jordan's used is small to him too and he learned his lessons. That is just life. That does not mean the guy won't be successful or that he is not taught well. Try check the other part of a person's life before making conclusion.
2869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nuclear and gas fastest growing energy sources for Bitcoin mining: Data on: October 01, 2022, 07:50:24 AM
Mining is gonna get unbearable if something isn't done about the contrary changes.
If Coal for just an annual mining has sniped itself that high, then they'll have to be some rejuvenations towards the mempools itself.

I have learnt that it's not even that profitable these days; even when they're running with GPU. The worst part of the story is that it's now becoming unnecessarily disastrous. I just hope something is done about the whole thing cus the world might take the chance to complain and/ refuse it resentments due to the recent pollutions.
Miners are using more clean energy than before is what this thread is all about, it is not about misconception that we are trying to let people know, but you are posting just supporting the misconception. Did you read the OP at all?

Bitcoin miners are most using ASIC to mine bitcoin, the days of GPU has been around 2020.

Bitcoin mining is still profitable, that is why the mining hashrates has been increasing. Check the hashrate chart of when bitcoin has been created to this present day in the diagram below:

https://www.blockchain.com/charts/hash-rate

The increasing hashrates means miners are getting profit from mining, if no profit is there, some miners will not mine again which will reduce the hashrates.
2870  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you change your mind on gambling ? on: September 30, 2022, 08:38:18 AM
Illegal is illegal, you might escape that for a while but expect to experience worst if you get caught. I don't want to be on this position at all cost, I will avoid or stop doing such illegal things. If the government suddenly ban gambling in your area, then I believe you still have time to withdraw your money on a gambling site and for now better to forget about gambling and focus in other things. Your government might revise that decision so by that time, you can gamble again legally.
Gambling is fun to some people. If the government ban gambling, some people will look for ways to avoid the ban and continue to gamble. That is people for you. I will not like if the government in my country ban gambling, but why they legalized it before and later suddenly ban it? They supposed to have banned it from the beginning, but not when many people has already liked it. There would be effective means to avoid the ban.

I can never call what supposed to be human freedom that the government are againsting humans for to be seen as illegal, the government too can do something wrong, making their citizens to more succumb to their ways of not given citizens the freedom that they want.

It is seems that your country does not support the gambling if they make this as a law I guess it is just good you will follow these because for sure there's a section for those people does not obey the rules and next is if you really urge to play it is more ideal to do is make a non detected device like use of the VPN because you are the responsible with your actions.
Some gambling sites do not accept VPN in a way it would be blocked, some will accept it for bypassing but against the gambling site rules. Some gambling sites can block the account of a gambler because of VPN. The best that I think is that the government should allow gambling. This would protect their citizens from a lot of things that might arise if the gambling site wants to cheat them rather than staying mute when they were cheated by the gambling site. There is more risk involved if the citizens are not allowed to gamble.

It is also good to read the ToS of a gambling site cornering the use of VPN before you make use of the gambling site. But VPN is not advisable.

2872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Next Bitcoin Bull Run To Be Half Story, Half Utility: Mike Novogratz At Token204 on: September 29, 2022, 07:44:08 AM
https://cryptodirectories.com/news/next-bitcoin-bull-run-to-be-half-story-half-utility-mike-novogratz-at-token2049/

Quote
The next Bitcoin (BTC) bull run will have to be much different from historical cryptocurrency rallies in terms of story and utility, Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz believes.

Compared to previous bull runs, the next Bitcoin rally will have to be more focused on utility and less on the story, Novogratz predicted at a panel at the Token2049 crypto event on Wednesday. One of the biggest historical rallies, the Bitcoin bull run of 2017, was mostly about the story, the CEO said, referring to the cryptocurrency’s run from about $1,000 to $20,000 within one year.

According to Novogratz, the 2017 bull run was mostly about the story of people not trusting the government and wanting more privacy and decentralization. “It was a Gen Z millennial revolution. And it was global. That’s a powerful story,” the CEO noted.

Another big rally, with Bitcoin hitting all-time highs above $69,000 in November 2021, was “really generated” by the COVID-19 pandemic, Novogratz said. He suggested that the price action in 2020 and 2021 was “probably 80% of the story and 20% of utility,” referring to the growing utility use case of digitalization amid the pandemic.

Mike Novogratz has made a prediction in the past which was correct, but people that understand bitcoin price history would have predicted in 2020 that the price of bitcoin would significantly increase after halving and it was like that. But some people still always use something happening in the world to be the cause of bitcoin price increase, some are true but not all the cause. When COVID-19 started to affect the world in March 2020, the price of bitcoin decreased from $10500 to $3800, it was said that COVID-19 caused it. Bitcoin price later increased and reach $63500 or so in 2020, it was said that COVID-19 caused it. I believe halving is the main cause, but people like to link what is not to something relevant at times.

What I will not agree about here is the indirect statement that story like halving will not have effect on the next all-time-high. People should not believe this. After 2024 halving, be expecting all-time-high again. It is best to hold now.

Bitcoin is highly utilized already and the utility is increasing which is part of the adoption and price increase, but the story part has never gone too which is halving.
2873  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Need bitcointalk higher rand account... on: September 28, 2022, 06:16:34 AM
Business purpose cannot be an excuse for account trading. We have copper membership and this wonderful community (for topic designing or for any similar services) which means even a newbie account can do business here comfortably; they just need patience to learn about all the opportunities here like what to do and what not to do.

Why do you need to buy a bitcointalk account? You can contribute good and let your newly created account to just rank up. It is better that way.

There are 2 reasons people buy accounts here.
One is they want to earn money posting, which is why he wants Sr+ because full members are rarely picked by signature managers.
The other reason is they want to look more legit to run their own thread, usually scams. Like when they launch an altcoin or an NFT, they want a high rank account backing them.

It really doesn't matter if the account is being bought for the first or the second reason. If we say that it's ok if they want to buy an account to make money from signatures who's to stop people from buying 4 accounts and shitposting all over the forum with them, because he won't consistently make 100 good posts a week. At least half of them will be complete garbage.

There is no reason most people buy account than to earn money. I asked the question to only suggest him to buy a copper membership and nothing more. But he did not reply.

Why do you need to buy a bitcointalk account? You can contribute good and let your newly created account to just rank up. It is better that way.

Know that account sales can lead to scam. Also know that you can buy an account that has plagiarized before which may later be banned.

Or you need an account for business reasons?
2875  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Parents And Their Children In Gambling.. on: September 27, 2022, 10:23:49 AM
I don't think that this topic is about Gambling. It's more about being humble and have some decency, while you are living an easy life in God-mode and you have everything served on a silver platter. Angry
This topic is not about being humble. Because you are gambling, that does snot mean you are not decent. Gamblers with the right mind can be decent too. There are people that are not gambling and not decent.

Life always comes back and bites you in the a$$, it doesn't matter how rich you are.
I don't have children, but if I had any children, I would never give them money for gambling and strip clubs. Even if I was a millionaire or billionaire, I would never do such thing.
That does not mean Micheal Jordan did such a thing too. His child is 19 years old, still at teen age but an adult because he is above 18 years. His father may not know what he did until it became news . We can not know all what our children are doing. Because you did not give your children money for gambling, that does not mean they do not have money to gamble with as long as you are a millionaire.
2876  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About Casino Licenses on: September 27, 2022, 10:05:07 AM
It is not good to go for unlicensed casino because they may misuse your KYC, they may not be qualified enough to pay the amount you win. But there are unlicensed casinos.

I see unlicensed casinos not to be legal because if the risks their customers are exposed to. A licensed casino would have been checked to have ability to operate a casino, but which unlicensed casino may not have.

License can be a good advantage for other casinos, this only means that you are operating legally and serious about providing quality service and platform for the gamblers.
But people should know that a licensed casino may not have good reputation. After checking a casino to be licensed, it is good to also go for trustworthy ones among them.
2877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Nuclear and gas fastest growing energy sources for Bitcoin mining: Data on: September 27, 2022, 07:38:58 AM
https://cointelegraph.com/news/nuclear-and-gas-fastest-growing-energy-sources-for-bitcoin-mining-data

According to the report, coal alone accounts for 37% of total bitcoin mining electricity consumption in 2022. Among sustainable energy source, hydroelectric power accounts for 15%. In the report, clean energy generation for mining bitcoin has increased if compared to 2021.

Quote
Despite Bitcoin mining significantly relying on coal and hydropower, the shares of these energy sources in the total BTC energy mix have been dropping over the past several years. In 2020, coal power powered 40% of global BTC mining. Hydropower’s share has more than halved from 2020 to 2021, tumbling from 34% to 15%.

We can see on the images how fossil fuel energy production is decreasing, while clean energy production like natural gas and nuclear energy are increasing.
2878  Economy / Economics / Re: GPU price in China drop to their lowest level in histor after the ethereum merge on: September 26, 2022, 08:46:59 PM
In a Bitcoiner's perspective, isn't Ethereum moving to PoS a good thing? Not sure about mining hardware compatibility, but wouldn't it be a safe assumption that some of the Ethereum PoW miners would transition to mining BTC? Bitcoin's mining hashrate is doing really well despite markets being quite bearish. https://coin.dance/blocks/hashrate
I am not talking about PoS, I am talking about how people are criticizing PoW while it is also helping people and economy, that people are looking into just one thing about PoW and criticizing it while not looking about the means electricity is generated and how PoW is helping people and economy. Electricity generation in the sense that miners can use clean electricity.

So the reasoning with PoW producing an increase in employment doesn’t make any sense because PoS could still have some monitoring and incentivize something like that. I think it’s still better to focus on the environment before anything else because that’s where we all live in.
Yes, that is true, I will assume that PoS would also reward people, but not like PoW. I see PoS reward not to be more than the mining reward, but PoW is more than that. But you people are getting me wrong, do not see the OP as a means of attacking PoS. No one says PoS is not good, but how if all crypto move to PoS, that it may not favour in some ways.

You have some weird thought processes and come to some very strange conclusions. Taking your electricity "argument" nonsense for example, that's simply not how it works. An efficient market works on supply and demand - if miners were the productive source of revenue generation that you suggest, then they would still be using and driving up energy prices. However they are simply not profitable any more, so any potential addition to the electricity grid that was spurred by the cryptocurrency trend will either be utilized by other industry or retired if it is not economical. The labor market is changing constantly, but you seem to suggest that electricity has no demand just because a few miners drop out, it's simply untrue.
Weird thought like? Do not change this forum into a place of abuses by trying to add up to your weekly posts. Who is arguing? Did you see me posting yet after the opening post? Probably you are out of your substance while posting this. The last part of your post let me understood that you do not get me rightly and just want to argue, read the OP very well without rushing it the way you did.
2879  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Reputation on: September 26, 2022, 04:37:23 PM
There are famous basketball player and other golfers who had dip into gambling addiction but that doesn't really ruined their reputation. It should be the same thing with lawyers if his gambling activity doesn't obstruct his profession, it should just be fine.
Basketball players, golfers and other players are not the same as teachers, the field are very different. What if teachers to be gambling is against the law of the school? But if not, you are not also wrong, anyone can decide to gamble or not as long that gambling is not illegal in that country. What should make someone not to gamble is if gambling is not legal in the country or if the organization you are working for against it. But to be sincere, I have not seen any company before that has it in law or rule that their worker should not gamble, that should remain to individual's personality.
2880  Economy / Economics / GPU price in China drop to their lowest level in history after the ethereu merge on: September 26, 2022, 02:28:51 PM
This life is not balanced at all, but humans make it more to be not balanced. Humans can turn blind us on something and be full of blatant misconceptions. A good instance of this is the bitcoin proof of work (PoW). What did some people said about it? They said bitcoin mining should be banned. Bitcoin miner are working more to the side of using clean energy to mine bitcoin, like waste gasses of the by-product in crude oil refineries and the use of others like hydroelectric power generation and solar energy.

After the Ethereum merge from PoW to PoS, some organizations wanted bitcoin to change to PoS too, but that is never going to happen for now. Instead of people to focus more on how the world can stay away from the use of fossil fuels to generate energy, which are releasing high amount of carbon, all they know is to focus on bitcoin PoW. Is bitcoin PoW the problem? No. Most problem are the countries that have no other alternatives than to use fossil fuels to produce energy.

When crypto mining was banned in China, GPU price dropped significantly. Recently after Ethereum merge, the price of GPU has fallen again, but to its lowest in history.

GPU prices in China drop to their lowest levels in history after the ethereum merge

If no electricity is produced, no labour in electricity sector. The more electricity that is produced, more labour, more employment. Companies that are manufacturing GPU, ASIC and other miners are employing workers. It means more employment.

PoW has resulted to increase in employment, but people do not want to understand than saying it is deteriorating the environment. But the deterioratiion caused by PoW is far less than the one caused by other activities like gold and other mineral mining, other industrial activities and many others that is leading to global warming.
