2861  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin survived the Christmas market pressure on: January 08, 2023, 11:36:36 PM
Now, we are free and clear to go up. I know it's not going to be easy to handle, it's going to be very very difficult to make sure you go up, but it's not going to be that much of an easy task to handle neither, it's going to be pretty tough to handle.
So far so good. Bitcoin entered the year of 2023 in a good mood. Fluctuations are considerably stable and I have the impression that it's trying to push ahead in some moments, like right now as we have just crossed the 17,000$ line for the first time since December 15, 2022. Now I want to see if bitcoin will be able to keep this position or if it's going to crash down to 15,000$ price range as a signal of strong correction. On the other hand, if it remains 1 month where it is now, there are serious chances market's sentiment is already changing to a more optimistic one. Better to not say yet, or it's not going to happen. Cheesy

~Are there any consequences to this?
In every action there is always a reaction, definitely, there will be consequences to their action, one of example is BIR pursuing them for crypto taxes, possible huge money lost if Bitcoin fail. ( But it is doing great atm)
Bitcoin whales must be more careful with their money than the rest of investors, because they are the preferential target of hackers. That is not an exclusivity of bitcoin whales, though. Every individuals who hold large sums of money or properties become an easy target for thieves. In crypto environment it's just worse, because people here have easy anonymous access to anyone, doesn't matter their location. Days ago it was an early bitcoin developer who had his btc wallets hacked. It's a clear example of clever hackers watching whales and early devs/adopters' steps.

Fun token, no doubt is runned and managed by a legitimate team, I am deeply hungry to buy it, but i just cant bring myself to making that decision of buying, and this is probably because I've not seen any spectacular use case for the token other than staking and unlocking some bonuses on freebitco casino, and it also doesnt seem like the team has any plans of building and finding more use case for the token, and my fear now is that, if things concerning Fun token remain as they currently are, even if a major bull run comes, the price might never reach its previous all time high, not to talk of achieving a new all time high again.
To say the truth, you won't find any spectacular use cases for any altcoins disponible in crypto market. Most altcoins are more of the same. FUN token at least have these additional features which allow us to earn from premium program and staking, besides being attached to the oldest btc faucet alive since 2013. Compared to 99% of cryptocurrencies, I think it has its advantages.

About development, they had plans of integrating more games on their FUN casino website by the end of 2022, as it says on their roadmap, but so far I haven't heard any news.

2864  Economy / Economics / Re: If your passive income beats inflation rate, deposit might be a better choice. on: January 08, 2023, 10:03:55 PM
The annual interest from the $100,000 is $3000, which means $250 per month.
Basic financial planning says 3% APY on $100,000 earns less than 7% inflation. Resulting in wealth declining 4% annually.
And that is only the offcial inflation. Real life inflation is used to be superior to the official rates announced by the government. It's common to compare prices of a same product in the supermarket in a year time period and conclude it has been raised in 10%, 15%, 20% or even more... They will say there are another factors influencing this besides inflation, like rainy or dry seasons, but the fact is that prices never go back to original prices. So I guess besides inflation there is also some greediness from retailers and producers, especially when there is a government transition.

And if you invest in bitcoin from December 2021 and hold till now, your assets will decrease by 80% in value, i.e. just add another 20%, your assets will be zero. Investing or depositing has its pros and cons, don't just look at the bad side of something that evaluates. Investing is also risky and will sometimes make your money disappear forever if you invest in the wrong place.
That is why the investment in bitcoin shouldn't be made thinking on short term. Investors must keep in mind it may be necessary to hold for few years until seeing some financial progress on their holdings. Remember there were also people who bought bitcoin during the ATH of 2017 (19,000$), saw their investments melting to 3000$ in 2018, but the profit finally came in 2020 for those who were patient.

In this case I think it's more about waiting the right time than investing in the wrong place.
2865  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 08, 2023, 09:56:13 PM
I didn't know much about this topic, but I thought it was very relevant to discuss this great event that will occur in 2026!

Guys, i have a question... do you believe that in the next World Cup we will have several other unforeseen events!!?
I think so. The tendency is that each new World Cup results become more and more unpredictable, as national teams improve and seek for foreigner help from the top strategists and coaches of the world. Even Brazil which is a traditional favorite team is looking for an european coach to replace Tite, so they can have access to the best techniques the soccer industry has to offer right now.

The whole soccer industry is being guided and ruled by european soccer playstyle and techniques. That is the price countries of every corners of the world have to pay to stay competitive. But it has been working anyway.
2866  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time for me to buy on: January 08, 2023, 07:45:03 PM
Though it is a proven strategy to wait for the market to fall before you invest but the volatile nature of this investment will not be that friendly . You can assume but there's no accurate and exact patterns that will state the market will go to a particular direction, you need to keep being aware that everything will be depend from how you see and how you anticipate the market both long and short trade time frame.
Bitcoin is an investment of risk, but the chances of potential profit on long term make the risk worth, as we have been watching bitcoin evolvement along the years. For now we still don't see where the market is going to lead us, although it can happen at anytime. So it's important investors are prepared with their investments for the special moment. Many people were caught by surprise in 2020, when the market suddenly decided to rise again, and there wasn't nothing else they could do, since they weren't expecting for that. Consequently many lost another opportunity to profit from bitcoin. So better that they don't act like this once again next time.
2867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Failure of Exchnages can never be that of Bitcoin. on: January 08, 2023, 06:13:51 PM
It really doesn't make sense to say bitcoin is guilty for the failure of exchanges. Their failure is totally related to their own mistakes when operating their businesses poorly. Sometimes it's due to lack of security and professionalism, which put customers' funds under risk of hacks, and sometimes it's due to the bad intentions of the CEOs themselves, who simply want to play with customers' funds without caring if they will lose it or not, as they know if lost, they can claim the company went bankrupt and still keep the money left through Chapter 11, which works as a legitimation of the scam by the law.
2868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the future of digital currencies? on: January 08, 2023, 05:35:09 PM
There has been a lot of amazing development with blockchain and cryptocurrencies in general in the past decade. But I wonder if there's anyone working on other ideas or technologies that could also be promising. I'm not talking about altcoins. I mean real breakthrough ideas, similar to what happened when Bitcoin was originally introduced. It would be really exciting to witness the birth of something completely new in the next years/decades. I'm sure we have other brilliant "Satoshis" out there.
There is nothing like this yet. Bitcoin is still reference in the universe of decentralized finances and it seems it will remain like this for a long time yet, besides being the basic layer for any other projects' concepts to start being imagined and developed. Even the altcoins chains you don't want people to mention had their original source on bitcoin. So it's impossible to talk about the future of digital currencies without mentioning, thinking or using bitcoin as reference. Maybe in some decades from now we will heard about something really new. Until there bitcoin does all the job. Cheesy
2869  Economy / Speculation / Re: what If Bitcoin Price never comes up on: January 08, 2023, 05:03:25 PM
please explain me why bitcoin will make another all time high
Potential ATH should happen due to next Bitcoin halving in 2024. When this happens, the number of btc per block mined decreases by the half, so new bitcoin entering the market becomes more scarce and valuable, theoretically. By looking the history, halvings have never disappointed investors previsouly. That is why there are is a strong belief it's not going to be different next time...

or explain some circumstances in that bitcoin's price  will go more low and never or after long times later comes up
The market is composed by cycles called bull and bear markets. Bull represents the prosperous cycle of rising and the bear represents the cycle of stagnation and crashes in prices. We can never be on a same cycle forever, so they are constantly following each other, like the seasons of the year.

2871  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A superstitious strategy? on: January 08, 2023, 04:07:20 PM
This superstition thing doesn't work, I myself, who have lived in Africa since I was born, see many people here in my country going to a healer because at night they had a dream in which they were raising money because they won the lottery, so the healer would interpret their dream and for that the healer asks for chicken to be kept, he also asks for a shirt and then the healer asks for large amounts of money and after the ritual people are really thinking that they will win the lottery, and guess what? they don't win the lottery, so why don't they complain to the healer? because the healer will always claim that those who are doing bad things for them not to win the lottery are the relatives of these people, and for that reason they need to do another ritual and have to pay more money, this supertication thing should not be taken seriously because has very big consequences
Oh, there is always an excuse to explain why something they foresaw didn't happen as expected. This kind of cleverness is quite familiar to me, as I've also seen people being fooled with such excuses, although not exactly by healers, rather by religious authorities from traditional Christian religions. It's unbelievable that even after facing such excuses people don't see the reality in front of their eyes. They keep believing and trusting their lives to charlatans who saw in religion and human's weaknesses a money making method.

Most gamblers must have went through this, sometimes luck appears to be your side specially in games like casino war or dice.

Today, morning I was playing casino war, I just use martingale - I know it's lame strategy. But I won most of time.

I wouldn't call it lame strategy though, it if works for you then it's as effective strategy as it is it.
It works until it doesn't. Cheesy

And that is for everyone, unfortunatelly. Moreover, it is what happened to OP later on that same day. Superstition won't prevent him from losing, because he is never able to predict if it's going to be his luck day or not, until he loses or win money during a gambling session.

2873  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some Gambling Slang and Terms that Beginners Should be Aware of on: January 08, 2023, 06:28:56 AM
Most of those terms are already well known by gamblers on this forum, but the initiative was good for newbies who are still taking their first steps in gambling world. Few of those expressions looked formal to me, to say the truth. The "Money Back Bets" one, for an example, I have never seen anyone using that. Usually people just say a "safe bet", what really looks more a slang than that one mentioned before.

Others are used less frequently, but very useful for gamblers betting specifically during a certain moment of a sports' match. These are: "First half bet" and "Half time bet".

Maybe you could add the one called "Parlay", as well, as mentioned above by @Baofeng and @acroman08:

Quote
A parlay in sports betting is when a bettor makes multiple wagers (at least two) and ties them together into the same bet. If any of the bets in the parlay loses, then the entire parlay loses. However, if all wagers win, then the bettor gets a bigger payout.
2874  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: investment in bitcoin should be short term or long term. on: January 08, 2023, 05:40:21 AM
All other investments, especially Bitcoin, should be considered long-term. Your psychology will also be safe.

Most investors prefer this kind of method because they don't want to check the crypto market every hour. Rather they just keep buying when the bitcoins price is low and keep holding it until it reaches the amount of price they want to sell their bitcoins. this works for others but it depends on their situations as well because some investors don't have enough patience for long especially when they see the price rising a little bit, most of them prefer to sell their bitcoins once they see a small profit can be earned.
Actually investors have no choice. They have to wait the market behave positively, so they can finally claim their profit. If an investor is constantly checking prices, really impatient to sell, he is probably going to get rid of his coins before the right time. That is what happens quite often with the called weak hands, who are so desperate for fast profits, that they end losing confidence in the market for any reasons and selling their holdings for a much inferior price than they should. Then, when they want to start a new bitcoin investment, they can't, because prices are already too high and a new bull run has already started...
2875  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Are Players Going To Trust Casinos If They Don't Show Solid Evidence on: January 08, 2023, 03:29:44 AM
If a casino adds many accusations on their history without properly addressing each of them, you should avoid that casino at all costs, because it's a clear signal they are a shady service provider. On long run casinos which cheat on their players to not pay them the won prizes properly don't survive on this industry, because with so many different platforms available, gamblers are just going to put them aside and move to a more reputable casino where users give positive feedbacks and have positive experiences. So don't worry too much about this issue. There will be always legit and scammy services, all you have to do is to check where you are going to deposit your money before doing so.
2876  Economy / Economics / Re: Will central banks ultimately fail in their goal of lowering down inflation? on: January 08, 2023, 02:55:35 AM
I don't understand why this measure adopted by central banks reduce inflation, because what they do is to pay more money to investors through raised interest rates, what will consequently demand governments to print more money to fulfill with their obligations, resulting in more inflation and decreasement in purchasing power. As I see there is solution for the economy on these measures.

Or am I missing anything on this whole process?

When the Federal reserve or central banks increase the interest rate to decrease or de-accelerate inflation, they do not mean the interest they pay to the investors or the holder of national debt.

They mean interests of loans. Basically, what they do is to make loans more expensive for people and companies, so they cannot access money so easily to buy goods and services, this increases the demand for money and decreases the demand for goods.

For example, if you wanted to buy a new phone using credit, you would not do it if the interest of the credit is high, so you choose not to buy the phone. With less people buying and needing cash, the inflation goes slower.

If everyone had access to loans at 0% interest, all people would rush to apply for credit to buy all the want/can at the same time, increasing the demand for goods and increasing inflation.
Understood, thanks for the explanation.

But isn't it bad for business, since people are consuming less, therefore retailers are making less profit and there is less money circulating among everyone's hands? Won't it lead companies to look abroad for countries with more encouraging consuming economical policies?

Isn't it better for the economy when people are acquiring goods frequently, so there is a constant flux of money circulating and feeding every parts involved on the process? And with accessible credit lines, it should be more profitable for banks to earn with quantity over quality.

2878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you change your name to bitcoin for 2000BTC? on: January 07, 2023, 11:47:57 PM
Although a very curious case, I think I wouldn't be confortable in changing my name in any circumstances, doesn't matter the size of the offer. I believe our names are part of our personal history, identity and legacy. Names, like identities and personalities can't be purchased, they are inherited.

However, that is just me. I'm sure other people would see no issues in earning 2000 btcs so easily like that. That would be a life changing.
2879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to identify next bitcoin or FANG on: January 07, 2023, 10:12:21 PM
I think the reason why people think that there are other crypto that will become the next Bitcoin is because of Bitcoin. Many people didn't take Bitcoin seriously because it doesn't have real value before until it has a value and those people who didn't take Bitcoin seriously didn't have the chance to earn lots of money. Some people have decent amount of BTC on their wallet but lost the important information needed to recover the wallet when BTC reached a new ATH.
Anyway, they shouldn't think bitcoin is going to be overcome soon by an altcoin just because they have lost the opportunity of purchasing it in previous years, when the price was more accessible. Instead, they should see the currently scenario as an opportunity to buy bitcoin and hold for the future, as it's still the cryptocurrency with biggest potential allied to positive long term results and safety for the adopter. I fear OP isn't going to find all these benefits in any other investment right now inside this industry. His eyes may shine with the possibility of making huge profit percentage with some risky altcoins, but they won't have bitcoin's history and reputation.
2880  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: More Regulation Incoming! on: January 07, 2023, 09:26:43 PM
After what we saw last year it was expected. I don't know if it will be bad like many think it's going to be, from the adoption point of view. I think it actually can have a very positive impact, because investors are looking for guarantees and safety when investing their money. If they see cases like FTX and Celsius without the industry addressing the issues and preventing it from happening again futurely, of course they will stay away from crypto market. But if they see regulations are coming to prevent new scams from happening, I believe it's very likely they will start investing again. Anyway, since regulations are a double edge sword, it's necessary to follow closely how they are being introduced, who is going to be benefited and what are their consequences for real.
