2861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Suggest a promising project at an early stage? on: September 20, 2022, 11:28:19 PM

Just go for a project that is old enough already but has not killed itself despite the long bear market. You'd rather prefer them than the new project that possibly could just be a scam one day. The early stage of the project may be attractive but there's no assurance of its success.

We are in bear market, there are plenty of them with cheaper prices than what its prices back in the peak of 2021.
2862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Choices: Gamble or Help the poor ? on: September 20, 2022, 02:57:34 AM
In order to understand the psychology of gamblers, i have decided to come up few questions for discussions, and here is the first one.

Suppose that you are a responsible gambler who have allocated a certain portion of money to gamble each month. Now you came across a poor person/family who is in urgent need of money. Will you quit the gambling for that month and give the allocated money to the poor family or will you prefer to gamble as you can't live without gambling ?

I don't understand what part of that situation will help us understand the psychology of gamblers.

I always lend a hand to those who are in need. No need for me to sacrifice my gambling activity as I can do that at the same time. Close people around me know me well and how I assist them with financial problems. What's more, if it's about charity.

Does stopping for 1-month of gambling will change everything?

"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.”

That's right because we don't have any obligation to anyone since we have freedom what we like to do. And helping anyone is not mandatory. Maybe its good for anyone to stop having this mindset because it will just promote laziness since for sure people who are lazy will just rely on people who give them money. So those gamblers will just extend there helping hand to those people then the result may turn worse.

Helping other people is an act of kindness and it is done wholeheartedly. It is no way an obligation because anything you've done against your will and to your conscience is not a form of help anymore. It isn't compulsory or mandatory, rather it is an act of service given even to those people who don't deserve it, but need it. Gamblers do not have responsibility over other people's need because they have their set of needs to fulfill too. We don't know for sure what kind of gambler they are. Whether if they are gambling for entertainment or for profit so we are not in the position to tell them and dictate them what to do such as helping others. Because they might need help too and they aren't just asking.

You see, we have different approach in helping and we have different levels of empathy. To some people, helping in kind is what they preferred the most, while others prefer to help via monetary value. Whatever it is, we must only give what we can willingly to avoid conflicts and of course, so that you won't feel any burden or heavy feeling.

Gambling involves money that's why this is interpreted as whether to gamble or give the money intended to be gambled to help. You can cheer up the man in need of money regardless of where he will use the money also. It's human nature to help someone in need but you have to really tell the man to stand up and get a job otherwise he'd be dependent on the help of others. It will fall into the begging category.
2863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm seriously considering starting a website to stop Greenpeace's bitcoin FUD. on: September 20, 2022, 02:25:13 AM
Do it!  I'm sure you know how to make people understand howall these works.

Although if the developers will just ignore this Greenpeace POS, it will die down. The question is how far will they go and enforce devs to change the code. They don't understand as Energy is currency. Once POS wins. There will never be a chance for BTC to dominate. It will be like ETH which is now under SEC jurisdiction.

A lot of us will likely share that website you make. SEO will be a problem for google may just de index the site but sharing will make it.
2864  Economy / Exchanges / Re: UK Regulator Warns Exchange FTX Is Providing Services Without Authorization on: September 20, 2022, 01:41:08 AM

FTX probably expected this sort of attack from authorities as they saw Binance get entangled with such pressure. They wouldn't call it extortion but its the same that they have to be regulated also not just in UK but also by the regulators of other countries because they need to comply in order to operate legally.

These are centralized exchanges, for now, dealing with DEX will be more disturbing I guess.
2865  Economy / Economics / Re: Are Spare Change Investment Apps A Good Option on: September 20, 2022, 01:23:49 AM
When it automatically rounds up the numbers to invest your spare change automatically, it already sounds like you have no choice. They are stealing from their users automatically.

While I totally agree that as early as possible, teens have to really start learning to invest and making money from it. It might just be good for the Acorn app to give an option for its users to pick which kind of assets to invest in. A list of crypto coins will be a good idea.
2866  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Twitch gambling problem and Sliker issue on: September 20, 2022, 01:04:49 AM

Too early for Twitch to be something that the government will interfere to this issue.  This is not like Twitter where almost everyone is there. Too bad for gamblers to fall for what the streamers are saying and scamming them.

The Twitch CEO I think can do something to stop these streamers but they might be afraid they'd also lose users for censoring this early. That's the dilemma to face.
2867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH might be classified as a security after switching to POS on: September 19, 2022, 01:18:50 AM
By switching to POS, the investors who believed in decentralization as the most important in crypto recognized ETH as compromised. Gensler considers all cryptocurrencies to be securities and are operating illegally if they are not registered with SEC. Except for BTC.

Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler said Thursday that cryptocurrencies and intermediaries that allow holders to “stake” their coins might pass a key test used by courts to determine whether an asset is a security. Known as the Howey test, it examines whether investors expect to earn a return from the work of third parties.

“From the coin’s perspective…that’s another indicia that under the Howey test, the investing public is anticipating profits based on the efforts of others,” Mr. Gensler told reporters after a congressional hearing. He said he wasn’t referring to any specific cryptocurrency.

Howey test is a test you wanna fail if you don't wanna be regulated by SEC.
2868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it right time to invest in Cardano? on: September 19, 2022, 12:56:12 AM

Just don't forget to sell when it goes ATH because Cardano is a project that isn't really developed yet. They need more than another 5 years to probably fully developed and you look at thier roadmap where they planned to fork many times.

You can already see the pattern it made since the past bull run which could plunge to -80% every bear market. Most project on ADA is Defi as well. There ain't something worth it.
2869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will "De-Fi" platforms be subject to KYC/AML laws in the future? on: September 18, 2022, 06:43:30 AM

Government can regulate them because there is a way to regulate and if there is none, they can just ban them. It will happen if there isn't any innovation done to remove them from the way.

So many factors they can try to reach to make Defi comply like the CEO and the server of the defi platform.  What I think defi need is a platform that we can install as app on phones or computers to make it more decentralized.  But what will protect us from a platform that will likely scam us as well?
2870  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Choices: Gamble or Help the poor ? on: September 18, 2022, 04:41:07 AM
I will first gamble and when I win I will help and if I find out I have no luck, I might just give the rest to help. It would have been a big amount if I will win.

But seriously if it's an urgent need, there is no question I will hand in some funds as I always do to family and friends. Everyone has experienced the time when you have nothing and are helpless, it's the worse feeling.
2871  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Ukrainian supermarket chain to accept cryptocurrencies through binance pay on: September 18, 2022, 04:14:39 AM

^ So is with the Whitepay of Whitebit exchange. These are the kind of adoption that is like deceiving users to engage on thier platform. Binance Pay is also not a neutral app to start using, I'm guessing they are making users convert to BUSD to pay? But then anyway, this adoption still is going to expose users to cryptocurrency.
2872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why going for 1.02 odds and below on: September 18, 2022, 03:13:54 AM
~snip~

What is your opinion?

The odds really tend to be "ridiculously" low when there are very high probabilities of a certain outcome occurring.
I usually place my bets well in advance of the start of the game, and I rarely change them as the game progresses.
Betting systems will always try to protect themselves from losses when they notice that there are high chances of a certain outcome happening.
Something that may seem little to us (punters) is a voluminous value multiplied by the thousands of bets made.

Obviously, there is a mismatch in the game. It's like the fight of Canelo vs GGG today's odds. Something tells a bettor to simply bet on the odds or what the bookmakers are telling you because it's a safe bet. Only a fluke to end an upset is the chance of winning to go for the other fighter. And it's usually true also to which an example is the Chimaev vs Holland fight.
2873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto regulation in the EU and the USA on: September 18, 2022, 03:05:47 AM

They've already pinned down ETH to comply, I think there will just be tight regulations, the threat could just be banning BTC mining and then they will regulate BTC mining which they will release BTC mining license. I don't think they could kill crypto. It's unstoppable if that is what you are worrying about, markets will exist even if they will heavily regulate exchanges.

2874  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why going for 1.02 odds and below on: September 17, 2022, 06:30:12 PM

It's a low-risk bet. Having that kind of ratio obviously, you are almost sure to win going for that team. I have once tried it and won just $40 for a $300 bet. I'd be regretting if I lost it, fortunately, I won.

I try not to bet with such low odds as I see no point in risking for 2% income. That's why I, just like TS, don't understand people who are willing to risk their bets for such a low profit percentage, because there is always a chance that your bet will be lost. Personally, I think the minimum possible winnings should be at least 10-15% of one bet.

It's not worth it if you have doubts that the team may lose but you may want to look at the options. I'm not into football but in boxing, you can bet on how the fighter will win like by TKO or by the decision which has good odds than just a win.
2875  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When betting becomes to high on: September 17, 2022, 05:22:41 AM
~

That's where gambling addiction enters especially when we chase over our losses. We're at risk of being tempted when we're having good winnings and I think that's a trap that we shouldn't fall for. There's a chance that we aim for higher gains but we should keep in mind that greed could possibly take everything away from us so we should always know when to stop and when to continue and not when we have already lost our funds.

The desire to get back the lost amount and win is hard to fight, however. Some are just willing to bet 90% more to win back a 10% loss. I don't see it as an addiction but as an impulsive decision which every personality differs. You may find one person who doesn't really do this sort of martingale strategy but just keep going to the casino still.  One gambler may see it as time spent in a casino will be worth it if they win big amounts too.

2876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: In your opinion is this the end for Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency? on: September 17, 2022, 05:13:54 AM

Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency is here to stay. You see China had already banned the mining of BTC but so far they have not actually wiped them all out from China. Hash remains to have come from China still.

The issue was that mining affects the climate of course this has been proven to be just propaganda for Climate change advocates. Whoever gives rights to this mining council to dictate rules. Bitcoin will still exist and so is mining if they use renewable energy, I guess some are going to keep following the rules and lesser fees to energy bills. Bitcoin will still be here.
2877  Economy / Economics / Re: Germans are looking to firewood for energy as natural gas prices soar on: September 17, 2022, 04:06:13 AM

Russia invaded Ukraine, of course, not at all because it lacks land. And not even in order to protect the Russian-speaking residents of Donbass, although this is stated as one of the main goals of the military special operation. Ukraine relied on anti-Russia in search of its self-identity after the collapse of the USSR, a continuous and growing existential threat has emanated and is emanating from Ukraine for Russia. Look at the emblem of the military intelligence of Ukraine - it depicts a sword stuck in a map of Russia. It is not very pleasant to have such an aggressive neighbor at hand, especially when this neighbor declares a plan to join NATO at the level of his constitution. Why this conversation when you ask about the meaning of life? Moreover, it does not matter what your standard of living is, if you do not have sovereignty, if you are not free. Russia has sovereignty, but Germany does not. Germany is occupied by the USA. If you have a better quality of life than in Russia, then you are just a prosperous slave. For Russians, freedom is not an empty phrase and definitely not a bargaining chip to buy access to spotify with it. Think about it at your leisure.
I agree - many of the EU countries has placed themselves in trouble but following the direction of USA and not they have ended up in more troublesome condition.
All the countries were imposing sanctions - thinking that Russia will be kneel down infront of them but Russia emerged as more power sovereign state.
What's even more painful is at times like this, western countries rely on gas and oil from Russia as fuel to support their economy, on the other hand Russia is fully sovereign and self-sufficient, here it looks as if it wakes up a sleeping tiger, and after that where lies the responsibility superpowers that seem to regulate them, and finally the energy crisis and inflation are soaring, if this situation continues then the solution is to find alternative energy.

They kind of shooting themselves in the foot.
It must be one of the dumb strategies to corner a country that is not just equipped with nukes but also its source of energy, why they did not think Putin will cut the gas supply is just a bad calculation. The war started and they all sanction each other.

But don't you think freezing Germans to death is murder?

2878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin becomes second largest PoW cryptocurrency on: September 17, 2022, 03:45:31 AM

Why is RVN not listed there?

The ETHW will soon emerge on this list. Currently listed on a few exchanges yet with a price of $9.28. Everyone should take advantage of this opportunity to make some huge money when this price spikes to the ATH. It does need to be listed on binance and maybe it will happen soon. So far its already on Kraken, Gate and Bitfinex so get your bags ready for it.
2879  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save as food inflation jumps more than 11% in a year on: September 16, 2022, 09:16:11 PM

Supply of the products I think is still flowing there is just inflation where we find the price too much. To save I guess you can just take 2 meals a day like a Brunch at 10:00 AM, that is like fasting. Or just do some diet at least this is good for your health. But still, stock up on some food before the price goes way higher than the last time you check.
2880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When betting becomes to high on: September 16, 2022, 02:04:52 PM
Have you ever had an experience betting in which you knew that you were going over the limits of you finances and still continued? I have one playing a game, it was absorbing plenty of my time and despite me knowing it, I was kind of hooked on it. It was not a financial problem, but left me wondering how easy is to actually fall into a bad habit and how difficult is to break it.

I have also experienced the same if you mean betting $300 just to win $40 because of the odds given by the bookmakers. This is more than what I can afford to lose but I've tried because I'm almost sure the favored fighter is well-fit and confident to win the match.  If I did lose the bet, I'd probably think of not doing it again. As taking most of my time, I think hobby usually consumes your time.
