2881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dont stay in crypto too long on: April 13, 2021, 05:18:14 PM
Bitcoin surges past $62k despite ban in Nigeria and other countries. It's amazing that bans on Bitcoin seems to have little or no megative effect in the price of bitcoin rather it seems to get more people talking about Bitcoin... Its more like advertising in a odd way. Nigerians are pouring in the crypto  space regardless of the information being put out  by the government. A lot more people in my neighborhood are talking about crypto,  maybe for the wrong reasons because I hear them talking about xrp shooting up and they are excited about it

Mou will be under pressure from both team and club supporters who have witnessed this humiliating 3-1 defeat to Man Utd at their home stadium.

Man Utd today showed a lot of team spirit and team work, they dominated possession and showed that they really wanted the win and it was evident in that Fred's second goal for the club. Pogba was particularly instrumental in that midfield area and deserves a thumbs up for his performance. Cavani as well has been fire this season and is really doing wonders and scoring goals with that his head.

I really hope Man Utd can sustain this form till the end of the season, they might just win the league.
Anyone who sincerely believes that Manchester United can win the league this season or even next season must be a really optimistic person. Manchester United is proven several times this season that it is barely the sum of its individual players and not a properly built team structured on a particular philosophy and style. They have taken full advantage of their individaul stars (Pogba, Fernandes, Cavani, Rashford). The rest of the squad are simply filling the numbers and the fact of the matter is, you cant win a league with that system. OGS simply sends the team out and hopes for the best.
2883  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does companies get money on: April 13, 2021, 10:47:44 AM
How does companies that hire participants for signature Campaign to their money to pay participants, since we are no seeing them and the place of their site, ok, does it means as many as companies that is here get the same amount of capital or finance to pay their workers or their is another source money come on their way to payup the participants that work on their name.

Campaigns are about advertising, it can be a product or a service that a company is offering. They make money when people buy or pay for their products and services. The power of advertising in marketing cannot be overemphasized. Companies value advertising and are willing to pay for it. In summary Advertising ( Signature Campaigns) + Sales = Profit
2884  Economy / Speculation / Institutional buyers are not backing down. More Pump? on: April 12, 2021, 12:22:17 PM

Institutional investors are getting more interested in bitcoin. This move by MicroStrategy is a big step. Will other companies follow this path? How would employees react to this? Since btc is volatile and can dump at any minute. I can understand if they are excited about it now as Bitcoin is bullish but what happens when there is a massive dip? Love your hear thoughts on this none
2885  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoiners Show Me Your Scars!! on: April 12, 2021, 11:27:21 AM
Since i can't bother to write it all over again, I will quote part of my post from the interview few months ago. It was pretty traumatic experience as i was never hacked before, that almost made me quit crypto all together. To be honest, I was more angry at myself than I was at the scammers. But as you can see, I didn't quit crypto and in the end that is probably  the main reason why I am active on scam busting scene
I like your fighting spirit. Your contributions to the community in exposing scams is very much appreciated. I hope to see a healthy and scam free community in the crypto space especially in telegram. Most of us who have had encounters with scammers would agree that it was some random dude/girl from a telegram group that came up with a testimony story.

By @Pokapoka124 definition, I guess i fall into "scarred" group.

Yeah, I'm glad you're better for it. Like mk4 said the scammers created a batman not a victim
2886  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the Best Time to sell ? on: April 12, 2021, 04:30:28 AM
At the beginning of the year people expected bitcoin to crash like it did in 2017. Ironically we had a bull run, institutional buyers pouring in. This is not like 2017, today you have major players in the financial institutions legitimizing or buying into bitcoin. Goldman Sachs, Blackrock, MicroStrategy e.t.c have huge stacks of bitcoin. The downside of having institutional buyers in the market is that we have more whales and they can decide to manipulate the market in their favor.
2887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: April 12, 2021, 03:55:33 AM
I look at the EPL table now and I'm shocked to see West Ham United in 4th place. How? Just how is this happening in the EPL because I don't get it. The league has become very controversial and unpredicted through out this season. It amazes me still. They had a good game today though, played over 4.5 for the gamblers in there West Ham United 3-2 Leicester City win this afternoon.
Every underdog dreams of doing what West Ham is doing right now..taking the fight to the top. They assembled a squad that can take the fight to the big dogs. West Ham were near the bottom, look at them now. Only thing that builds that is team chemistry and consistency. West Ham really impressed me this season.

Every time we see this kind of robbery on smaller clubs. It will not deter me from continuously supporting the Peacocks.
Referees get far too much protection. Bad officiating, we always see this from Barcelona, I was thinking it ended with the La Liga clubs.
Bielsa, you have done your best.
We still love the club's direction.
EPL and VAR are just too corrupt!!!... Guiding and petting the oil merchants to another trophy!

Every time these refs mess up, the EPL seem to try to shade them from the discussion. Before VAR, referees were given more slack with challenges and contact. But no anymore you cant afford to be wrong these days. Every time a call goes to VAR you're just tossing a coin, you never know what to expect. My issue is how can they get it wrong so often. VAR was supposed to make the game easier to officiate but in reality it has done more harm than good.
2889  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bull Run; FOMO on: April 11, 2021, 07:10:00 PM
I definitely agree with your statement.

The problem with most of the newbie investors is that they only invest depending on the trend on social media and about the current news without even reading the reason behind the surge. Now assuming that they indeed invested then the price dropped, they are also the ones who complain about bitcoin being a 'scam' and a 'fraud' investment. Instead of blindly investing into bitcoin, supply yourself with sufficient knowledge and tools to know the reason behind the surge.

Again, bitcoin is a volatile currency and its price may suddenly increase/decrease without any warning. So in order to at least save your investments, learn to be smart and capitalize on your role as an investor and not as a rider who follows trends.
Yep, FOMO and FUD are some of the reasons people get involved in pump and dump scams, or panic sell when the market experiences a dip. FOMO is time, money, and stress. One could have a heart attack reading tweets. Its difficult not to fomo, it takes time and understanding of the market. And more importantly it takes discipline

2891  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the Best Time to sell ? on: April 11, 2021, 06:25:02 PM
You don't need to think much when you are buying something but when you want to sell there is always a fear that what if the price increases?
As a boy belonging to middle-class family, I don't have a large share BTC hodling and now I am unable to figure out what should I do? Here are my few questions......
Should I hold for more time?
Should I buy some more now only or wait if the price dips a bit?

As a rule of thumb, cash out as soon as you see a decent bit of profit, then buy back in later when it dips. Repeat the routine and you will mostly be fine. One popular advice you will always hear is  "buy the dip" but what happens when your "dip" dips even more? Everyone thinks they'll be able to time the market right. But remember the market is very volatile and even the best of us lose trades. DYOR and be responsible for whatsoever the result might be. FOMO is real
2892  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My crypto journey so far on: April 11, 2021, 04:59:08 PM
All altcoins are highly correlated to bitcoin price, and if bitcoin fall all of them will (some coins will hold better for specific reasons, but they will also suffer)

I agree the price of altcoins is dependent on bitcoin but there is a better chance of making more profits trading alts than btc. From the image you shared, we can see significant loss in alts when bitcoin dipped but same happens when bitcoin pumps, the alts pump even harder, thrice or four times as high as Bitcoin. Of course of not all alts are profitable some are just shit coins
2893  Other / Beginners & Help / My crypto journey so far on: April 11, 2021, 04:04:33 PM
My  crypto journey has been a long and murky one. I got interested in bitcoin in 2018 at the peak of bitcoin. I didn't know much about alt coins. I was only interested in bitcoin. I knew nothing about trading, I just knew I had to stack some bitcoin. I registered on blockchain.com as it was the only wallet I knew at the time. I created an account and tried to buy Bitcoin but was restricted because of my country. I was shattered. But that didn't stop me, I was lucky to meet someone who was willing to sell his bitcoin.
Within a month I made some profit but didn't sell. I have more of a hodler mentality. So when then the market eventually dumped it was devastating to watch. I didn’t put in more than I could lose, but I put enough in where it really hurt to watch it go down the drain. There were several times I thought about selling and cutting my losses. But I hedl!
Fast forward to the now, I have more knowledge of crypto and have a more diversified portfolio. Strangely, I come to find I own more alts than Bitcoin. I learnt to trade on binance and doing quite well. The market is going nuts at the moment, no one knows for certain what to expect next.
Will the bull run end soon? Who the hell knows.

What's your tale?
2894  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoiners Show Me Your Scars!! on: April 11, 2021, 12:29:09 PM
Most times, what we hear about bitcoin is usually the good stuff, especially in an environment such as this, I mean its hard to say anything other than. Every time there is a bull run the media suddenly changes its opinion about bitcoin and are in favor but as soon as there is a correction, there comes the attacks. But truth be told we have all had good/bad experiences in our journey in the crypto space.
There are two categories of people in the crypto space; the wounded and the "scarred";
The "wounded" are those people who have had it rough, probably got scammed during their first bitcoin trial or lost a significant amount trading and are bitter about it. Some are unfortunate to have invested in fake ICOs..others are those who bought bitcoin and somehow forgot their password. These are "wounded" people. And now that's the only world about bitcoin that they know and they fall back to fiat and traditional traditional currencies because it makes them. If you are interested in bitcoin don't ask a "wounded" person for advice. They most likely will shut your idea down.
The "scarred" are those who also have been cheated, scammed and share similar experiences with the wounded but refuse to let that stop them. They are relentless and constantly improve themselves after experiencing setbacks. As a newbie, this is the category of people you want to be acquainted with. They will guide you through the right path.

The difference between the wounded and scarred is simple. The wounded tell a tale of pain and are still hurt by the experience, this blinds them to see anything good from it. On the other hand, the "scarred" have seen two sides of the coin and learned to better for it. They share their wisdom with younger investors, wisdom got from the good and bad experiences they've had. So bitcoiners show me your scars.

Liverpool had a hard time today. I'm sure all Liverpool fans will be frustrated and angry with VAR for denying Liverpool a crucial goal.
VAR is having a lot of controversies and is being misused. I think sometimes VAR does not stick by the rule books, the interpretation by the referees is what matters. Today the margin was so close, without VAR that would have been a goal any day any time. And this is not me being sympathetic I am just being logical...things would not always be a hundred percent and we should stop looking for perfection. VAR is mocking the game we all love.  I'm glad Liverpool broke their losing streak and got a win against Aston Villa despite the challenges of the game
2896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: April 11, 2021, 04:18:48 AM
I can't believe Manchester City, the leaders of the table in the EPL lost to Leeds. It was unexpected...never in my wildest dreams would I imagine that. After coming back from a win against Dortmund 2-1 in the Champions League. I don't know who/what to blame for City's loss. Was it fatigue? International breaks may have worn the oalyers out but I doubt that. After the international break, they won against the Leicester side. Even today they played well and had control of the game. Today was just plain bad luck.
2897  Other / Beginners & Help / For OTC Traders: Beware of "Flash bitcoin" or Fake Bitcoin Transaction on: April 10, 2021, 12:57:18 PM
Internet scam is on the rampage and is evolving everyday. It's hard to keep up with them these days. I recently started OTC trading, even with the government ban on bitcoin there is even a more higher demand now. With the good things also come the bad, scammers have found a way to con traders of their money.
A client supposedly sent me bitcoin and was pressuring me to pay up even when the coin had not confirmed yet on the blockchain network. I told the client to wait for at least one confirmation. Turned out it that it was a fake transaction. The coin didn't confirm and disappeared after 48 hours

The Big question is how are scammers able to do this?
My Advice

1. Please wait for at least 1 confirmation before paying your clients.

2. You're 100% responsible for all coins you trade. Only pay trusted partners before confirmation.

3. Ask your clients to send hash after coin is sent, it helps in tracing coin.

4. Don’t just buy coins.... Study blockchain technology

Thumbs up to all great guys taking full responsibility.

P.S: I call such coins "flash coins" because it appears and disappears after a while

2898  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quality of a post on: April 10, 2021, 08:22:49 AM
making a quality post
Making a quality post does not required long paragraph, it's based on how meaningful the work is, so write a post especially newbie like me, I think we have to pass through processes, which is adequate research, observation and something that are different from the work of others.
From my observation I foun that most of the topic in Bitcointalk community we discuss today has already been treated, discussed for long time. People framed or interchange the words in a modern form.

Making a post without involving mistakes.
This issue disturbed me alot, and I have to let my fellow beginner know that to overcome posting error, we have to pick correction by cross check our works before posting, because post are meant to read like twice before posting, I noticed this pinned post I read.

Newbies are banned every month
when I registered I started reading comments discussion and I found out that why people are ban especially newbies is because of copying already made articles online in place of their work. so through numerous reading it have  to come  to my skull that copying works online with prove of evidence like link that is connected to the work will not lead to ban , I have seen several posts with link.

All these I have stated are my observation noted for the form since I found myself, as registered  member and I will like to learn from the people here to upgrade the level of interaction.

This problem is not new or particular to crypto or bitcoin. The same applies to fiat. Although bitcoin was created to solve financial problems I'm afraid this one hasn't been discovered yet.
OP gave a story about a blind man and a boy. In my head, the blind man represents the nay sayers, those that doubt and don't believe in bitcoin. The handicap are those that believe in bitcoin but do not possess the funds to buy and are constantly procrastinating buying bitcoin for one reason or the other. The little boy represents the bitcoin enthusiasts like us who are constantly trying to lead others into the new world of crypto and share our knowledge with the rest of the world.
Ah!! The way my mind works
