2881  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 04, 2023, 06:58:43 PM
I very rarely bet on sports. I bet more on casino games, and lately slots more than anything else. I hadn't played slots for years and I see that there is a great variety of them to enjoy.
You should be playing Candy crush and Temple run games 🤣. What part of these games do you enjoy? The background music? I used to love Mario although that was a skilled game not like the slots available on the casinos.

By any chance are you a woman/girl? 😉

To be honest roulette is addictive, knowing that I am going to lose I used to be triggered to chase the lose.

I enjoy casino games too, and played a lot of dice even though the concept is pretty basic and everything is redundant. No background or anything, just straight up numbers on the screen and me trying to rely on my luck heavily hoping to get some small victories. You'll be surprised that people like us exist that happens to enjoy these things, and we still get excited about it even if the only thing that's changing on these games most of the time are the themes and the music. At its core, we know that it's still dice or slots, but perhaps the different visuals seem to alter our brains and we start thinking that it's a different game all of a sudden Cheesy

Sports betting relies more on analysis than luck to win.  Because if you have a good knowledge of the game then you can predict which team is playing well and which team is most likely to win.  And it is very easy to do and if you have good knowledge about the sports then surely your prediction will work very well here.  And you will win your bet very easily. And because of this I love sports betting the most and feel more comfortable betting here.

Which is why not everyone can hop on to this type of betting because it involves some in-depth knowledge of the sport and of the teams playing the said sport. If you're a regular fan of the sport, perhaps you can get some head start. But if you want to win consistently and enjoy reaping the rewards, you will first have to learn more about numbers and the analysis of the teams' and players' stats and performances in order to pick the winning team/player. That doesn't sound like a fun thing to do but hey, winning is fun!
2882  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco on: January 04, 2023, 12:22:12 PM
I believe Lomachenko can take on Devin Haney, only if his form is not the same as his last fight against Ortiz. You can see the guy slowing down and losing stamina real quick, whereas Haney's last fight against Kambosos showed how dominant, quick, and overall healthy he is albeit being the one always on the offense in the ring.

Haney will be the favorite given his overall stats and his physical attributes, but they cannot discount Lomachenko because the Ukrainian can certainly have punches that pack a lot of power. The problem is, this fight is yet to be official, and there might be a lot of hurdles along the way, especially the pay that each of them might receive. This will probably be a very anticipated fight that Bob Arum should help make a reality.

I have biases because I don't like the way Haney fights. He's a good and talented boxer, of course, in the same way that Mayweather or Hopkins are also good boxers. He probably deserves that undisputed title, but I guess I am more inclined to be awed by the fighters of Mexico or the Philippines.

The fighters of USA use defense, dexterity, and their speed to dodge blows and jabs to not give a point, not unlike Mexican or Filipino fighters that have the guts to go head-to-head against their opponents looking to finish the bout in a flurry of punches. Mayweather Jr. popularized this way of fighting and almost all of the lightweights seem to have adopted this technique, and there's nothing wrong with it if you want to win via decisions. It's just not that impressive to look at unless they do it at the level that you can see on anime or fighting games Grin

I strongly believe that Loma still has what it takes to defeat Haney. This is a battle of scorecards most probably. I think Loma can manage to outpoint Haney. It's best if before the sun sets for this legend, he'll become an undisputed champion.

He can still score a knockout if he wants to, it's just that it's difficult to catch Haney due to his speed and agility. Points-wise, Haney has the edge since his reach is quite longer than Loma. It would be interesting how Lomachenko could work around these hurdles, but I believe he can take on Haney and still come out ahead.

2883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 04, 2023, 10:18:22 AM
I picked the wrong option but yeah, I play rarely - only if the jackpot reaches up to an absurd amount. I haven't picked up the affinity of my family members in betting for the lottery, but there are times that I want to give it a try and take a chance on my luck hoping to get something out of that chance that I take. Besides, tickets only cost less than a dollar in here, and a chance to get millions out of that few cents is too hard to pass. The only problem that I have with betting on our national lottery is that it's too inconvenient to bet because there are no online outlets unlike what they have in other countries. You really need to go out and bet physically on one of their authorized agents and sometimes, it takes too much of your time just to get one bet going.
2884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Gambling 2022 - How was it for you? + - <> on: January 04, 2023, 09:19:27 AM
Looking at my checking account, all I see is a long streak of $22 weekly withdraws. No unscheduled deposits whatsoever meaning I haven't made any money apart from what I'm making in my job and business. This 2023, I'm trying to make some changes on my gambling habits and focus more in sports betting and slowly leave casino games behind. I like slots and roulette still because they have fancy multipliers and bonuses across the board, but for dice? I think it's time to say goodbye to it.

Hopefully 2023 brings a fruitful year to our gambling activities. The first 3 days of gambling brought forth some greens in my initial bankroll. A good opening for the year but it can be better.
2885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 04, 2023, 09:06:18 AM
3 games but all great games.

I'm leaning on the Thunder +8.5 and Jazz -2.5, they should break their losing streak.
It looks like we have the same point of view about avoiding the Bucks vs Wizards game. This is where most of us in this thread were trapped days ago when suddenly they reported Giannis was unable to play 2 hours before the game starts.
We will be better off waiting for the roster to be announced before we take our bets.  Cheesy Although the spreads seem to mean that he will play, just to be sure.

I'm still salty about that last minute injury report for Giannis, that is why I pick Wizards +7.5 for Tuesday's game even if Hill, Antetokounmpo, and Holiday are reported to be playing. The Wizards managed to get close to the points of Bucks even without Bradley Beal. Hachimura is also on fire as of late so I don't think they'll have a problem covering the spread even if the Greek Freak (fuck that man) will be playing.

I checked why the Jazz was the favorite instead of the Kings, so Malik Monk and Huerter are in questionable status.
But, I do want to try my luck for the Kings ML.
I want to pass on the other two games for an early bet. Will try it live.

Jazz -2.5 as stated by Hypnosis00 is also a pick I'm currently interested on. A lot more juice and a relatively safer bet given the uncertainty whether Monk and Huerter will play. If Monk and Huerter would be out, they will have a hard time defending and getting the ball around. Jazz already confirmed Collin Sexton being out of Tuesday's game, and I think that wouldn't make much of a difference really given that Clarkson will be there.

Live bets would also be great. Haven't really got the time to watched games live but perhaps I'll do it just for the Bucks vs Wizards game Cheesy

Welp, 0-2 for this day. Didn't expect that Bucks will be on fire and Hachimura will be mediocre in this game. Giannis just sank 55 points for Bucks which is impressive considering that he let down a lot of people just a few days ago. Oh well, the next time I will have to bet on Bucks, I will wait an hour before I lock my bets. Though unfortunately not a lot of bookies have their lines open that late.

As for Jazz and Kings, it was a close one. Didn't expect Kings to be performing that well and overtake Jazz at the last quarter and maintain their lead. Good ball rotations and excellent shooting from De'Aaron Fox.

Lots of games tomorrow. Will be closely looking at injury reports because I don't want another Giannis mistake to happen again Cheesy
2886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: January 03, 2023, 05:58:22 PM
What are your thoughts on Magnus winning the three (3) coveted titles- Rapid, Blitz, and Classical Championships? I guess it pretty much sums up that he is indeed the GOAT of chess ever since the retirement of Kasparov. He won Rapid and Blitz respectively for three times now. He has indeed cemented himself as the best chess player to ever walk this Earth!

There's really not much to say about Magnus winning these world championships. We all know by now that this man is legendary in all things chess. I guess it will take a few years before he is bested by someone else. Nepo, Nakamura, and So are some of the players that I have in mind which can better Magnus one of these days, most especially So because Magnus acknowledged the guy's ability to turn a losing position to a very favorable one a few times now.

We're lucky to witness one of the greats of chess in the flesh. And while he may be the world champion, there are a lot of things that he does that a lot of normal people can relate, which is why this dude is a champion in all respects.

What are your thoughts on his retirement for over-the-board chess for one (1) year? He mentioned in an interview that he will not be active for a year BUT he will continue to participate in online tournaments.

Guess it's a shame that he no longer wants OTB tournaments, and I get him because online tournaments are a lot easier to hold, and tournament bodies can issue laptops/computers that are literally airgapped and connected only to one secure server for tournament proceeds. The issue of cheating in OTB tournaments has always been there, and it only made headlines because of the recent allegations against GM Hans Niemann. Lots of GMs have shared their experiences with OTB tournaments and the same theme can be extracted from each one of the testimonials: lack of actual security on the players themselves which can help facilitate cheating through small devices inserted in clothing or even the player's body themselves.
2887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chasing the big multipliers in soccer on: January 03, 2023, 04:27:50 PM
Sometimes I do "dumb" bets like this just to breakaway from my betting patterns. I tend to get bored doing the same stuffs over and over so it's quite fun to do something else. Win rate is low as well but it doesn't hurt since the amounts are within my limits. Of course I personally do not recommend anyone to follow this kind of style.

This is really relatable. I sometimes think that my betting patterns have become so dull and very predictable that luck itself is avoiding me. Every once in a while, I will go ham on one single bet, or create a 10-leg parlay just to see if it will hit, and to also "cleanse" my bad luck. I know that it doesn't work, and it's obvious that it's just to remove the redundancy of the "pattern" that I am doing, but it clears my frustrations somewhat—and if it wins, then it's a bonus that I'll gladly take.

But I think when in sports betting there is a team that has a percentage of multiples of profits with a large number, the team will experience defeat. There is very little chance of winning the match.
And vice versa, if there is a team that has a percentage of multiples of profits with a small or small amount, then it is clear that the team will experience victory.

This is the basics of how odds are generated by the oddsmaker. The one they think that is more probable to win will receive low profits, whereas the underdogs will always get juicy odds with high returns. You take your pick, and as bets come in, the odds will shift depending on who's getting the more bets.

If there is a team that has a small percentage, this happens because many gamblers have placed bets on that team and I think in a sports match if there is betting in it, the victory belongs to the team that gets the most bets.

How would a team getting the most bets win an event? Those events are not connected to the gambling platforms, and the bets coming in does not influence the games at all Huh

2889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 03, 2023, 11:31:46 AM

Yeah, another one for the books this season, when they thought that they have won the game, Mitchell find his zone and they closely chirp that lead and he was short of just 2 rebounds to make it a triple double and bested what Luka did.

This season is a whole bunch of surprises causes these young lads are doing great even when they've not yet reached the championship games. After all, it's all about the team and I think this is the new trend nowadays hopefully we see someone breaking those records in this same season as well. They are focusing on one single player and looks like it works very well nowadays Luka is proving it right where he scored 40+ points in his past few games this season. rather than making some incredible stats for every single player in the starting lineups, everyone focuses to give their star player the assists he deserves.

Mitchell had 71 points, that's extraordinary, he was like the Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers during Kobe's prime years. We will surely remember that, he has become more comfortable playing with the Cavaliers and just like the Warriors, they are good in defending their home.

I wouldn't go so far as to saying that he's like the Kobe Bryant of this era. If he can consistently do it against the big names in the league, then that is the time we can consider him as one of the greats. For now, it's a huge career achievement for him to attain 71 points in such a game wherein they were down so bad at the first half and they came back stronger. Not everyone can do it, and not everyone can be as calm and collected as he was while doing it.

Hopefully Mitchell can do these cool stuff and help carry his team towards the top 3 of the Eastern Conference. He's posting good stats every now and then but the team needs him to do more of these consistently.
2890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a lone Sports Bettor or a Team Sports Bettor? on: January 03, 2023, 09:27:36 AM
I sometimes tail people here in the forum, or use their analysis and judgment in creating my own. I am also fond of checking reddit every now and then for sports betting tips and some online predictions hub to learn more info that I may have missed in getting my picks. I don't follow blindly, and obviously don't fall into herd mentality, but I do use what I gained from them in order to make my own path. You can say that I'm a mix of both, though with a much more leaning towards being a lone sports bettor.

Does a discussion with a group of friends count as a team? Nothing fancy about the discussion, just a group of friends talking about their favorite teams as well as their past histories/matches. Most of my sports bets are usually decided after a small discussion like that (since it's much more fun imo), I wouldn't say that they don't influence me, that'd be absolutely bs, but I'd also say that they've never swayed me 100%, I still decide on the bets usually on my own. They're just a source of info so to speak.

I think it counts if it leads to you locking bets because you and your mates have discussed the sport. But if it's just a simple discussion then it's just another get together or just one of those conversations that you may have with your friends.
2891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 03, 2023, 08:48:03 AM
My 76ers pick was a win earlier and just hit the spread on Heat v Clippers. For tomorrow's game I'm looking at Milwaukee Bucks vs Washington Wizards +7.5 @ 2.03 odds. Unofficial sources say that three of the four Bucks key players (Hill, Antetokounmpo, and Holiday) is probable to return for their Tuesday game against the Wizards, with Khris Middleton still staying at the sidelines.

I'm confident that the Wizards will be able to cover this one despite the three big names for Bucks returning in the field. They have picked their momentum and are obviously on fire right now even without Bradley Beal on previous games, and now that the man is also set to return on Tuesday's game, it'll be quite an even matchup for the two teams come game day.

Donovan Mitchell!!
71 points, 8 rebounds, and 11 assists.  Shocked 7/15 - long-distance shots. My oh my, he took the game to overtime where it's almost a white flag game.
Then dominated the whole overtime and snatch the win away from the Bulls.

The highest point made since Kobe in 2006 was 81 points. Mitchell is now listed as the 8th most points in NBA history tied with David Robinson. Wilt still holds the highest at 100.
Absolutely a monster, he found his zone and the Bulls didn't expect that. They chased a 21-point lead and flipped the game.

It was an insane performance from Mitchell! Dude was a beast in forcing an overtime by missing the free throw and making that rebound with 3 seconds on the clock. The man certainly is all fired up and hyped up after playing Call of Duty with Kyrie Irving Cheesy That 21-point chase was phenomenal, and you can see that the Bulls lost their cool and their composure after they see that their lead was wiped out easily in 2 quarters almost single-handedly by Donovan Mitchell.

Also double overtime win by the Warriors against the Hawks, Klay scoring 54 big points as well.

This season is really one of the big one that we haven't seen for a while as players are elevating this game to the next level.

Klay worked hard on the court today as we see him sink 10 3-pointers flawlessly. The Hawks sure made it hard for the Warriors to take the win, dragging the game to a double overtime. Lots of surprises this season and hopefully they bring in the hype and all the grit once the playoffs starts.
2892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 02, 2023, 11:55:49 PM
I have bet on casinos more than in sports betting for the majority of my stint as a gambler. But recently I have stopped my weekly schedule for dice/roulette and switched to sports betting instead. I enjoy watching the games and learning more about the teams while also challenging myself whether I learned something or not by placing a bet on teams that I think should win. Also, before I am just focused in trying to entertain myself, but I think that's more of an excuse that I'm making because I always lose, and I want to turn that around. With sports betting, I can minimize the risks I'm taking while still potentially taking a reasonable win for my bet.

But casino games still have a place in my gambling activities, but perhaps that will not be my main priority anymore. Perhaps if I want to have a quick dip in gambling and just want to enjoy, I'll deposit a few dollars just to have my fill. But yeah, sports bet is where it's at currently. Easier to win on and profits can accrue.
2893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 02, 2023, 03:22:17 PM
-snip
This is the current NBA championship odds at the start of the year. GSW is still the 3rd team favorite to win the title. It is because once the current active roster can maintain at least a 50/50 or 40/60 win rate they are still very capable of earning a spot in the playoffs once Curry, Wiggins, and co are back into their regular roles.

Makes sense. The GSW's current ranking is still affected by the absence of some key players of the team, particularly Curry. Even still, Klay and Poole are doing good work by being solid at home, and obviously they need to do something about their on the road games because it's looking to bleak with their recent performances.

The odds also favored the teams that have deep playoff experience rather than the teams that are performing well in this regular season. Fair enough, the playoffs are a whole new level compared to the regular games where sometimes defense and hustle are not fully activated.

If playoff experience is what the odds are based heavily on, I'm surprised that the Clippers fared better than the Nuggets and 76ers. I think it's a mix of experience, current performance, and how well some key players are performing for the oddsmakers to come up with this current ranking.

And I agree that the playoffs is where most of their trump cards are activated. In the off season you'll see players pop off that are usually not that noisy, and then those same players disappear when it comes to the regular season. Usual high scoring games during the off season becomes not so common during the playoffs. Teams don't want to give too much information during the off season, they just want to condition themselves on the possible form of the enemy when the time comes.
2894  Economy / Economics / Re: The Taste of an Economic Downturn on: January 02, 2023, 01:43:58 PM
The chairperson of the senate committee on agriculture just brushed the issue off saying she can live without onions. This is the same old woman who just encouraged people to reduce their consumption on rice when its price soared intolerably high.

Such people have no sympathy for other people, and that is why her statements should be well remembered and everything should be done so that in the next elections she and her party get as few votes as possible. However, I hope that people will still learn from everything and realize how important self-sufficiency is, so even though it is unrealistic to expect that anyone can be 100% self-sufficient, anyone who has a little land can produce vegetables such as onions, potatoes, lettuce, carrots and parsley and many other cultures that do not require any special knowledge or too much effort.

Oh boy, I assure you people remember everything, but slap them with $$$ and suddenly they'll forget everything. That is why the Philippines is fucked. The current chairperson of the Seneate Committee on Agriculture  is a businesswoman whose ventures focus mainly on real estate and housing/subdivisions. There was even a comment from her that farmlands can easily be converted into subdivisions, and the sellers of those farmlands can buy land that is cheaper somewhere else and then plant crops. You see, the government here is like a legal mafia that plans to rape the resources of this country. Even if you have competent people at your disposal, if these people are your bosses, you will not have a voice and your expertise will be a waste.

There are tons of comments from the agriculture secretary that are just foul from an agriculture perspective. She treats everything as a business, and agriculture to her is nothing but a way to make money. She doesn't even know how to plant crops and that there are certain regions that can only grow a certain crop, and that it varies depending on the place.

I also think the prices of goods and services are somewhat increased during any festive season, perhaps due to the increased level of demand.

Except that we have been in this situation for months. The onion bulb situation has been going on for 3 months, whereas the rice import issue has been going on for years. Just imagine being one of the largest producers and exporters of rice for decades and suddenly, you fall off and has been overtaken by the likes of Vietnam and Thailand which has significantly lower fertile lands good for rice planting compared to you.
2895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: (Boxing) Kazuto Ioka vs Joshua Boxing Match Begins 31 December 2022 on: January 02, 2023, 12:31:08 PM
I haven't seen the fight nor did I do a review on the full replay yet. But I did read and heard from a lot of people on social media that Franco deserved the win. Today I reviewed the punch stats and I am surprised that Ioka seems to have edged Franco. Based on the unbiased per-round punch stats, I have it 115-113 or 7 to 5 in favor of Ioka. Although there are times that jabs can be as good or even better than power punches, I just considered that generally, power punches weigh more than jabs. So I gave Franco rounds 4, 6, 7, 11, and 12 for a total of 5 rounds only. I agree that a rematch should happen or if not, let them face the other champions and stars in their division like Chocolatito, Estrada, and Bam.

I just watched the replay and I must say that Ioka scored good points, but Franco just got around the ring better and delivered some power punches, and some that might be seen as a power punch from some perspectives but those didn't land. I guess the public's emotion is high and really tensioned which caused the opinion that the judging is biased for Ioka (although there have been a lot of professional opinion about this for a while now too).

Stats don't lie, and if Ioka delivered more jabs and punches that connected compared to Franco, then the Japanese deserves the win. I guess this could have been handled better by the judges and the organizers. Then again, if they responded to the accusations, they will just fan the flame even more.
2896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 02, 2023, 06:12:50 AM
Bucks losing at their home court, gonna be very hard to swallow at the start of the year. I didn't watch the game but when I look at the scores per player, it seems that Giannis take a rest as well? as they were lead by Bobby Portis. So no Giannis and no Middleton and Jrue Holiday equals big lost for them.

On the other big games, the Nuggets beat the Celtics as it is the battle of the top seed in both conference.

Jokic another triple double, Jamal Murray didn't play but MP Jr did and had a good contribution at 19 points.

Giannis updated his injury status I think an hour or two before the actual game, wherein a lot of people have already locked their bets and it's not really possible to change bets at that point. I was one of those people who got caught up in this very late announcement regarding his knee injury, because for one I believe that even without Holiday and Middleton, Portis and Giannis can make some great plays together and win against Nuggets, especially since they are on their home court.

Tomorrow's picks, I only have Philadelphia 76ers vs New Orleans Pelicans ML with a slight lean towards the 76ers at home. Haven't locked my bets yet but this one is a value pick for me given how close these two are in terms of defense, and the Pelicans beating them with the combined effort of CJ McCollum posting 42 points and Zion Williamson's 36 points just gives the Pelicans some more motivation to do what they have to do in order to maintain their streak. Of course, 76ers would surely heighten up their defenses for their home game and wouldn't want the Pelicans to just peck at them continuously for two in a row. Currently waiting for injury reports before locking my bet, but spreads and moneyline currently favors the home defenders 76ers.
2897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 02, 2023, 03:15:12 AM
To those loading up on the Bucks beware, Giannis is not playing either...

That's $20 down the drain. Last time I checked before locking the bet the guy hasn't reported any knee soreness. Right now the Wizards are pummelling Bucks and the latter can't seem to find any openings to take back the 20-point deficit. That's a rough loss because almost everyone thought the Greek Freak would be playing. Hachimura and Porzingis are just shooting from downtown freely, while Kuzma is just taking the rebounds necessary to convert to points. If only they could get out the information earlier...

As for my other bet, Celtics can still catch up and convert it to a win. Jokic has been putting a lot of work to bury the lead even further, with Porter and Hyland on the assist both with 17 points as of this writing. Tatum and Brown has been missing a lot of threes tonight that it didn't feel like they're on their form. Anyway, the game is stopped for some reason and hopefully they get the rest they needed and come back to win the game (Celtics).

Pi Network They have not officially launched any exchange. Some exchanges have started trading on their own platforms. Pi Network has officially banned trading with this Pi Coin. Their mainnet is not finished yet. Notices have been given to CMC and Coingecko for prohibition and they have recorded the same above.

It's funny but some circles and groups in our locality have been facilitating the buying and selling of Pi Coins. They are really great in deceiving a lot of people and making them believe that what they're buying is actually worth something, without realizing that they cannot dump Pi in the event that everyone wanted to throw the project overboard. It's been like 2 or 3 years since they announced this project and up to now, no mainnet can be seen and not even a testnet.

It's crazy how people still believe that the promises of the Pi Network will ever come to fruition. Come to think of it, how would exchanges and other entities make money facilitating the trades and exchange of this coin that doesn't even have its mainnet up yet? How can these entities move funds from wallets A to B with certainty that they aren't going to lose something in the process? Cheesy

If this was also a "why Africans are using crypto so much" I think information like this might go quite well to explain that: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1175891/distribution-of-credit-and-debit-cards-scheme-in-nigeria/

(from information about Nigeria that seems to be quite a popular place for these sorts of companies) About 28% of card holders have a mastercard and 18% hold visas while the majority of card owners hold cards from local transaction processors.

I can imagine that means there's places visa isn't accepted (I've been in shops in the UK where Amex isn't accepted and some places also used to not accept mastercard years ago when it was much less popular).

Since crypto was mentioned and not specifically bitcoin, I assume a sizable amount of usage is through stablecoins, right? Idunno, it just makes sense for the majority of the people to want to use USD instead of a volatile currency.

Right. Why go the obvious shaky path when you can always travel the already-paved road anyway? But I guess it also has something to do with the earning opportunities that bitcoin and crypto presents to the African people. There's not much opportunity for Africans to earn money due to a lot of corrupt leaders and public officials that hinder the economic growth of their countries. With bitcoin, you can easily buy those or work for those and keep it, and hope for the best—at least that's the way I see it.

Is it really common to use bitcoin in the everyday payment?

Bitcoin has 300k transactions per day. Africa has 1.2 billion people. If we imagine that all Bitcoin transactions are done by Africans, that would mean that every day 1 in 4000 Africans is making one Bitcoin transaction. That's 0.025% adoption. And the real adoption is a tiny fraction of this number.

Much, much less for sure. Most of these transactions don't even include payments too, as it's just traders and speculators, big exchanges, and other entities moving funds around trying to keep up with the market or just trying to get their money somewhere else.

I mean bitcoin was initially design as a micro payment scheme, so yeah it should be common to use it. The problem is that bitcoin is not treated to be one of the best assets but I will assume that it is still being using as payment method by some of us, or used LN for transactions. I guess the advantage is that it could be really big and so it will be adopted globally starting in Africa.

But if micropayments is what the Africans want, they can use their own currencies for that, or even USD if the value of their currency is really low. The state of bitcoin right now isn't really great for micropayments unfortunately, and obviously Africans know this. Given how bitcoin boomed a lot in the past years, I think the line of thinking is to be able to get as much bitcoin as possible before it booms again and make a fortune for these merchants. It's as if they're banking heavily on the possibility of bitcoin going off again in terms of its price.
2900  Economy / Gambling / Re: What sort of Weekly & Monthly Bonuses do Bitcointalk members want? on: January 01, 2023, 11:44:25 PM
For dice, a weekly tiered cashback promotion would be nice, even though I know that I'll only ever get so far considering the amount that I'm spending per session. This year, I would try to reach more of these bonuses that I have ignored in the past few years just to add some more thrill to my gambling experience. I purposely ignore bonuses back then because I believed it will only stray me away from the enjoyment as I will be a lot more focused in reaching the goal to unlock said bonus before actually enjoying.

For sports betting, some free bets every now and then would be very welcome. Not a lot of bookies offer free bets anymore, and it wouldn't hurt if a bet or two would be given to their patrons just to keep them engaged, or just to help new players build confidence on their bets before putting in a lot more money for the casino.
