karma is a very comforting theory and I can see why people are so attracted to it. It's really nice to assume good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people.  If only life was actually fair.

I can understand why you would think life is fair.  I'm assuming you grew up as a healthy sheltered kid in America and don't realize how lucky you are when you compare yourself to someone who was born with diseases in a North Korean labor camp sentenced to 5 generations of slavery and torture.

You haven't been hit by reality yet.  You're in for a rude awakening.

So you measure how much I love someone with volts?

Yup.  At the base level, all your emotions are the results of voltage flowing through your brain.

That doesn't cheapen it, but it is how your brain works.  Sorry you don't like that, but it is a solid fact.

As for your other question, at the moment, all we can capture is rough pictures, however, as the technology is refined, video will indeed be possible.

Now your turn, since you're suddenly interested in evidence.  What unit is this nebulous universal "energy" you're on about measured in?  How is it measured? And don't give me that "It can't be measured by science" shit.  If it influences this world, it can be quantifiably measured.

It's measured in reddit karma points ofc

I've got you one monster.  When I was sleeping on the beach, one night, I (we) had the realization that each grain of sand we touched would forever be in a different location than before.  Everything effects everything.

Ok Dank that's not really helping. I doubt Chaos Theory will be of any use to your Hookah Bar. Keep it real, yo.
It backs up karma though.
well that was disappointing. you were right. I don't understand.

How does the concept of the butterfly effect back up the karma theory?

If it's too complicated for my tiny brain to comprehend don't bother trying to explain it.

In my opinion, that is a terrible example of a learning experience. That was just a thought you had while at the beach. You could have had that thought while sitting on the toilet.  If you learned something relative to that experience such as (hypothetical): "when I woke up the next day on the beach my backpack was missing, so I learned there are thieves in that area of the beach."  That would be an example of a learning experience in my book.

Idk, i guess i just can't comprehend it.

The difference was: That kid went to a bank, not some online forum for computer geeks! What is the most ANYONE has been lent on here anyway? I mean, I can see lending someone maybe twenty bucks on a forum, if they were a friend or something. But $30,000+? C'mon, that's ridiculous, ain't it?

3000+ BTC are frequently raised for legitimate business concerns in this forum. Many savvy businesspeople lurk / take part.

OK then, point me to a thread (or two) in which 3,000+ BTC were lent and paid back. From whom and to whom? For how long? On what terms (interest per annum)? Were there signed contracts?
Let's keep this thread somewhat on topic.

Kentrolla, I don't have time to explain my past with the amount of detail needed for you to comprehend it.  Maybe some other day.

I'm not asking you to explain your past. Just one story about you having a learning experience. You don't have to go into detail for me to comprehend it. Don't worry about that. I don't care if I can comprehend it or not, I just want to hear it. I'm not posting this to try to discredit you. I'm genuinely interested.
2891  Economy / Lending / Re: 3000-6000 BTC loan - Hookah Lounge - 9/18/12 Update on: September 25, 2012, 12:05:00 AM

If I told you what I experienced, you wouldn't understand, so there's no point at explaining myself, again.  Maybe, you will find out what I experienced, one day.

I want to hear the story anyway. Even if I don't understand it, I think it will be entertaining nonetheless.

plz don't lock this thread. I find it very interesting and there's a lot of good information about running a business. It's also a good example of what not to do when looking for investors.

no thanks. if you won't admit that statement is false then there's really no point trying to explain something to you.

Good luck.

This kid is really good at sticking to his beliefs. I've never seen somebody so good at dismissing facts.  How can you be 18 years old and still believe that there is no such thing as mental disorders and you can cure cancer by wishful thinking?  That takes some serious dedication to your "religion." I think the key ingredient to remaining this ignorant is to believe that you are smarter than everyone else. Then you can dismiss all knowledge trying to be passed on to you because you think you already have it all figured out.

I'm starting to think dank might be brainwashed by some sort of cult that tells him to ignore science and anything that contradicts his beliefs as dismiss it as "negative thinking" coming from people of lower intelligence than himself.

OTOH, he could just be trolling.  If so, well done.  These threads bring back memories of when I was a kid.  It's very entertaining to read.
I'm not religious.  I do not dismiss facts.  You fail to realize things can happen from two perspectives.  I don't ignore science, I think of it from a spiritual perspective, since we are spiritual beings.
so how do you manage to stick to these beliefs without dismissing facts? Or were you never presented any facts?

Here's a fact: Some people are BORN with diseases and mental disorders. for example autism.
Do you think they are autistic because they were born believing they are autistic?

You have a really self centered view on reality. Reality doesn't come from what you perceive. a "thinkforyourselfist" is never going to be able to learn anything without experiencing it himself.  If you have to experience everything you learn you will remain uninformed.

If you really want to do the research to confirm your beliefs you will probably run into some cold hard facts that you're going to have to dismiss in order to preserve your credibility.  One of the hardest things to do is to admit that you were wrong about something.  You're one stubborn individual. I hope later in life you will be able to look back and read this thread and have a good laugh at yourself.  When I remember my "world view" as a teenager it makes me chuckle.
They're born with autism for a reason.  It's still a label for their mental patterns, but they became autistic because of their surrounding environment.  Nothing is random.

Reality is your perspective.  How can you judge what I have and haven't experienced?

What's even harder than admitting you're wrong is to admit you don't understand something.  All the cold hard facts and experiences in my life have done nothing but create and reinforce my beliefs.
Some of your beliefs questioned:

"Reality is your perspective"
This is the "self centered" thinking I was referring to. Reality is a collection of many perspectives, not just your own.

"There is no such thing as mental disorders"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_disorder
What is autism then? Saying it's a label doesn't make your belief true.  Next are you going to say there's no such thing as labels?

If you were trying to say that all mental disorders come from a belief like with your theory about PTSD.  Well, autism is a direct contradiction to that theory unless you believe they were born autistic because they believed they were.

As you start to learn more about the world you're going to have to add a lot of asterisks to your beliefs and eventually, if you have gained enough knowledge, you will have to scrap those statements in their entirety.
It's not self centered at all.  Every human makes their own reality based off their beliefs.  This does form a collective reality, which is far from the man made reality we live in.

I didn't say there are no such thing as mental disorders, I said they're not real.  They only exist because the person believes to perceive reality that way.  See what I said about autism.  The human starts developing in the womb, whatever surrounding environment that child was exposed to led to the autism or mental disorder.
I edited my post. Please try to make this statement true for autism:
It's not like you're born with a certain pattern of behavior that you cannot change yourself.

PTSD is a label for those that allow bad experiences in their past consume their present.  This includes anybody that's had hard times before, including me.  The only way to counteract that would be to let go of the past and move on.

Little boy, I'm pretty sure people with PTSD from rape, combat, and natural disasters far outstrip your pity party that Mommy and Daddy wouldn't buy you a PS3.

It's obvious you know as much about PTSD and mental health as you do about finance and business.
PTSD was a terrible example to use when you're trying to inform someone this stubborn.

A few weeks ago I dined at some franchise that's known for having spent peanut shells on the floor (its name eludes me).

could it be "the walrus" ??

i think the peanut shells are disgusting and make the place seem dirty. But, I probably just have unique taste because it's the most popular bar/club in town.  There is always a huge line to get in. Luckily I know the bouncers so I can pass all the people that are waiting in line like i'm some sort of celebrity. That's the only reason I would ever go there.  Bitches love passing people in line.
