2881  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 3.2.0: modular ASIC/FPGA, GBT, Strtm, RPC, Lnx/OpnWrt/PPA/W64, BE Blade on: August 30, 2013, 04:07:09 PM
Is there a way to get the current share difficulty from the API?  Would be useful for some monitoring tools.
2882  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: August 30, 2013, 03:53:36 PM
I, at least, would be interested if it was relatively inexpensive, but I think they are wanting an m-board adapter to eliminate the RPi...
You mean a board to interface to the current m-board ? That's basically only a RPi replacement, but less powerful, and at least as expensive.

I was thinking more of a small PCB with an edge connector, where you plug in a single H-CARD. This replaces both the big m-board and the RPi, and would be useful for people only interested in mining with 1 or 2 H-CARD attached to a PC.  For more H-CARDs, the m-board is the more practical solution.

If one H-card dies in the M-card chain (v1), the whole (400GH) miner is out, no?
With 1-2 H-card solution, they can pretty much operate independently.  8 "devices" attached to a PC for 400 GH rig.
Sort of like BFL mini rig (8 Singles attached to a hub, stuffed in one big box).  One dies, the rest keeps going.
2883  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon users: bitcoind and slush's/generalfaults mining pool setup on: August 30, 2013, 01:52:08 PM
tiktoc and other solo miners,

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask this question, but since there are many solo miners reading it, I'll ask anyway.

I've read somewhere that the optimal "share per minute" is 12/min when working with a pool.
I was wondering if that is true here in this solo setup.

I see VDIFF_TARGET in the config.py set to 30 (1 share every 30 seconds) which is 2 shares/min.

When I run my miners with this setup, some devices work, but don't submit any shares because the share difficulty has been increased to 3.84k
by the pool.  I don't know if this is optimal for solo mining.

VDIFF_TARGET=5

would be a better setting.

Or it does not matter for solo mining.

if you get:

ImportError: Entry point ('console_scripts', 'easy_install') not found

after running "sudo easy_install stratum"

You need to do the following:

sudo rm /usr/bin/easy_install*
sudo rm /usr/local/bin/easy_install*
curl -O http://python-distribute.org/distribute_setup.py
sudo python distribute_setup.py
sudo rm distribute_setup.py

Best software? CGMiner is by far the most popular.

Best Pool? That depends. I'd check Here to find a few pools that you would trust. Bitminter is a very good one. Ozcoin and Slush are also my favorites. BTCGuild and 50BTC are also big for a reason: they're pretty decent as well. I think everyone should choose at least 2-3 pools, rather than just 1.

I'm really liking bitminter since the client is so slick looking. Think I'll stick with it for awhile and see how it goes.

I like bfgminer with cgwatcher, very slick and provides a lot of info.

I've had good experience with eclipsemc.com, running bfgminer 3.1.4 (with akbash watching it)

i was just reading all the avalon cluster**** (pretty much every other thread here besides this one), i think you should all consider yourselves very lucky by choosing buzzdave/bitfury instead of avalon, as i understand pretty much nobody got their hardware, buyers are left with no hardware no refund, and board manufacturers are left with all the useless boards they purchased with no chips and angry buyers while the difficulty continues to gap higher by the day making the preorders irrelevant. What a mess.

I hope the bitfury oct delivery will also go as smoothly as august.

That is incorrect, Avalon users either have hardware or refunds - it was a script error. Chip buyers have either received chips or queued for refunds.

Bullshit.  Avalon trade-ins customers are in limbo since April.  Some paid at the beginning of July.  Nobody got a single email back from Avalon
team.  Zip, nada.

And you want to compare him with Dave?  You need to have your head examined.

The only reason Yifu started refunds (with mining profits I might add) is because of the number of people he pissed off.  He quickly realized he is not welcomed here.  If he is thinking gen2, he better do it in 2015 when most people forget what he has done.
No more rock star status for him.  So get over this "Avalon worship" BS.

Say what needs to be said.  They fucked a lot of customers; with a barb wire.

2889  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 28, 2013, 11:57:12 PM
let's hope in the future not doing any pre-sells would solve all these problems.

Or sales, customer service, answering support tickets, emails and PMs.  That would also solve your problems, no?

What happened to trade-ins?  Cancelled?

Or you'll just say you don't want to deal with this BS.

What happened?  Too busy or you just forgot about them

Which dialect of Chinese does Yifu speak?

Can anyone read? Friedcat sells them for 3.5BTC for orders of 100 or MORE = about $45,000

Friedcat DOES NOT sell them individually or in bundles of 19 or LESS.

So if you want to buy in bulk... buy from friedcat. Not rich? Buy from minersource.net.

as long as you tell this to people.  And not delete my posts.

+1
Most sensible list I've seen so far.

BUT, if you apply this to existing manufacturers/sellers/resellers on a handful would qualify to post in Custom Hardware section.
Avalon & BFL (IBM and GE of bitcoin) would have to be kicked out (3&5).

Let the free market sort things out.  Use Trust settings for any violators.
Other than that, let them post whatever they want.  The more they say the easier it will be to flush them out.
2899  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: {WTS} my 3x Jalapeno (In-Hand) on: August 28, 2013, 04:22:56 PM
make that BTC2.5  considering ASICMiner blades going on sale for BTC3.5
2900  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTB] 1 x Jalapeno - Reverse auction on: August 28, 2013, 05:06:37 AM
I have 3 for sale, here is a listing for one:

http://www.bitmit.net/en/user/warhawk187/?ref=19730

I have an ebay listing as well, but the 15% fees after everything is said and done sucks.

Thanks, I'm looking for something below BTC1/GH/s, preferably 5GH/s Jala for BTC4 or less.
