Letting Alberto Armandi run an exchange. Now there is a daft idea if I ever heard one.
2882  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 01, 2013, 11:04:15 PM
Yeah, I don't think it's right to be contacting people on fb, linkedin, etc or their family/friends/job. I know everyone here is freaking out, but there's a limit.

They should have been contacted even before the IPO. Either they are involved as mentioned in the prospectus, and  there is no harm. Or they are not, and their identities are stolen and they should know (as well as potential investors).

As for the theories; Alessi has admitted to an affair with Alberto. Its very likely then that her brother Fabrizio knew him too. They are both in HK. Its not hard to see who is the mastermind behind this. Fabrizio may just have been stupid enough to lend his name and company name for this to Alberto.

Which documents? It's on the ITEC PRO LTD. documents, but there is no direct connection to Labcoin.

He did sign for a TSMC order IIRC, and he confirmed that to me in a chat. Thats the only involvement he is admitting to.

You can carry it as hand baggage if you put it a thin plastic bag, but definitely not with the shipping box. But then no space for anything else.
But I have 2 boxes, so need to buy an Extra Item Seat as they call it.
Spoke with RyanAir 2 times about it to establish what are the dimensions allowance for it: 1st the lady on the phone was a little rude and said I can't take it as it will not fit in the seat and cannot put the belt around it. Not true.
2nd time the women on the line was more helpful and even put me on hold to confirm what I asked: so if I pass security they will let me take it on board, but will have to buy 2 extra item seats for each box. Or maybe just one and get the other one under my own hand baggage allowance.

I have to look at ticket prices again and see if its worth it (London - Stockholm) - 1 single on the way there and 2 or 3 singles on the back back.

Cant you get one thats not fully assembled? Or at least with the casing not bent, like on one of those pictures?
Or disassemble it, I know Id get creative Smiley

when knc is over with this hash attack the business model of maybe more than one competitor is history. hashfast, cointerra and all the others, that have no product to ship currently ----  you are screwed, arenīt you ?  Kiss

Not at all. First of all those companies all sold enough preorders that they have nothing to worry about no matter what happens.

Secondly, as difficulty shoots up, power consumption will become key again. Not exactly KnC's strong suit. If anything, a few months from here its KnC that will have put themselves out of business while the others, assuming they can deliver on their performance/w promises, will still have products that can be sold, even though obviously the margins wont be anywhere near where they are today.
2886  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 01, 2013, 02:05:49 PM
3.5k BTC is cloase to half a million US dollars. I think with that sort of readily available cash that Fabrizio could begin work on the 65nm chip while the 130 is being salvaged. If he can get the 65nm into production by the end of the year LabCoin could still be a big big player in the mining community.

Where to begin.. first of all, mask set for a 65nm chip alone would cost him ~$500K at a cheap chinese fab. No way that sort of money buys you working and deployed chips
Secondly, production takes 2-3 months, even he were to tape out today, chances of getting to market this year would be small. He is no where near tape out, no one is even working on it. Forget the 65nm chip.

AS for the 130nm chips, according tp "labcoin" they are all packaged in a plastic package which is simply inadequate for their power consumption. I cant see how you could possibly salvage them. You could perhaps run them at 10% of their specced speed to prevent overheating, but thats just not worth it. Doing another production run with the existing mask set, and using a more sensibe package would be possible, and not even very expensive,  but would cost 2-3 months. By that time, a 130nm asic is pointless.

None of this is really important, because this is scam. But even if it werent, there is no way to turn it around.

2888  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Bifury private pool now at 235TH on: October 01, 2013, 09:22:43 AM
Ive been keeping an eye on bitfury's pool here:
https://ghash.io/

Its been steadily but slowly growing from 175TH to 200TH over the past few weeks, it gave the impression they were adding hashrate to maintain a constant % of the nework. Now its accelerating, and fast. 235TH atm.

Has anyone made a chart of this?
2889  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 105 Gh/s ASIC miner: Redhash by TAV. IN STOCK NOW! on: October 01, 2013, 09:02:27 AM
We need a new shorthand for "bitcoin denominated positive return on investment".
How about,

BPI

Or

!BFL

?
2890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 01, 2013, 08:02:14 AM
Im still dying to find out of this is a single huge die or a multi die package. If knc wont tell us, who will be the hero to peel off the heatspreader first ? Cheesy
2891  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL - How about upping the Ghash/s on units to compensate for delays? on: October 01, 2013, 07:59:12 AM

Fun fact: (assuming prompt shipments and no other issues pop up), even though KnC delivered well above spec and pretty much on schedule (not gonna nag over a day or two), even though they are the first 28nm asic on the market, the investors that gambled on this best case scenario are still not sure of a [positive] bitcoin denominated ROI. They may or may not achieve it, depending how its competition and particularly Hashfast executes, but it looks like it will be a very, very close call. If hashfast is as successful as KnC, it seems likely no profit will be made.

Think about it, KnC is pretty much a best case asic preorder scenario and this best case still results in a relatively small chance of profit, and a small profit at that.

As for BFL customers; they got screwed a looong time ago. Dont expect BFL to suddenly begin caring about customers or promises or even FTC rules. The only thing they will offer is screwing you over even worse by "upgrading" your order to their next fiasco for just a few thousand dollar.
2892  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 105 Gh/s ASIC miner: Redhash by TAV. IN STOCK NOW! on: October 01, 2013, 07:19:47 AM
I'm not trolling, I'm genuinely irritated by the misuse of a well understood accounting term.

There are three ways that a hypothetical buyer would not make ROI on this.

1. The unit is DOA (which you have contingencies in place for.)
2. The buyer puts it in their trophy collection and never mines with it.
3. The buyer doesn't use it, gets a refund, and goes on their merry way.

ROI stands for Return ON Investment. Not Return OF Investment. If it mines at all, you make a ROI.

"a return" in this context is synonymous to benefit and to me at least, without qualification implies a non negative, non zero value. The context makes it quite clear and Im perfectly fine if people leave out unneeded words.

Compare it to discount. In theory a discount can also be zero or even negative, but when someone says they get a discount, a positive number is assumed.

I don't like your attiude.

You dont have to

Quote
Instead of attacking those who seemingly got sucked in, you should focus your energy on starting an investigation into the man behind - Alberto Armandi.

This thread is over a year old, there is nothing left to investigate, I think the facts about Alberto are pretty clear.

Quote
And I don't like your attitude quoting SEC texts. This whole gives us the chance to form something new, something better.

You dont like the law being quoted? You think its a better idea to pretend laws dont exist or dont apply - until someone ends up in jail? Personally Im getting very tired of people thinking and claiming that because something is related to bitcoin that its all legal and anything goes.

As for creating something better, Im all for better, and bitcoin certainly can make some things better, but Im very unconvinced by the bitcoin experiment showing just how much better a (perceived) regulatory vacuum is. To quote myself from another post:

OT, but I find it fascinating that time after time, this bitcoin experiment shows us the usefulness of so many existing regulations that die hard libertarians love to hate. Things like registering a security, so that potential investors know all the relevant facts about the people and the business they are investing in. Rules against insider trading and stock manipulation as hinted at above,  and disclosure requirements that would force labcoin to come clean about the actual status of their business making this more an investment than a lottery. The need for an organisation that verifies and enforces this, since you cant trust the exchanges, let alone the issuers.  We already learned what happens when you allow ponzi schemes (pirate) or known felons to play 'bank' (mybitcoin). BFL customers are finding out that FTC rules about shipping delays and refunds perhaps arent so daft. Heck, they are even learning that evil old Paypal has its uses too.

Many libertarians were or are convinced bitcoin would show just how good a totally free market can work. Its showing me the exact opposite: t doesnt work without some sensible regulation, it becomes a scammer's and gamblers paradise, not a functional economy.

Im sure many will disagree, and thats fine. But its hard to disagree with the legal realities. You may chose to ignore them, but that doesnt change them. If you are going to ignore them at least do it with your eyes open.
2894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 30, 2013, 10:41:26 PM
time to squirt out your agenda mate.. why the hate ?    Still just want no one to buy miners so you can mine easier?

that's been your mantra since the beginning

Hate? No hate. And I dont mine. Im still convinced precious few asic customers will make a BTC denominated profit.
2895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 30, 2013, 10:35:02 PM
I never believed they would pull it off on such tight timetable, I figured at least a few weeks delays was a given.  Im surprised, and impressed.

Now for the bad news for KnC customers: if KnC can do it, its at least plausible that Hashfast, Bitmine, Cointerra, ActM and what have you, can also do it (yeah, Im skipping BFL). I never thought their timetables where any more credible than KnC's, but thats changed now.  Now look up DnT's spreadsheet with the avalanche of chips coming, and the current ecstasy may not last very long. This could become an even more crazy autumn than I thought possible, and waaay crazier than thegenesisblock suggests.

Sorry for the ignorance but how would theymos be able to get the "uncloaked" IP of a user in IRC?

Labcoin account posted here during the QA when while he was disconnected from IRC. That post has meanwhile been deleted, not sure if anyone quoted it,  but I assume theymos could verify the IP used to post that.

Ah, that makes sense. So did theymos confirm that the IP was actually from Italy? That would be indeed very serious.

Ive not seen theymos confirm it. Dont know if anyone asked, be my guest.
If confirmed I still wonder how dvd guy would have found out.

No, I didn't make it up. theymos can confirm it for you.
Anyway you are free to carry on with your business, if you think this is a winner nobody can take that away from you  Kiss

I would like very much to see a confirmation of that. If confirmed, all the other discussions become moot, there can not be a shred of doubt this being a scam.
