Other than the Ricardian Contract capability,  what in OT would be useful of iXcoin?
2902  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: January 07, 2014, 09:17:51 PM
Well, here's a slight update on my situation. Jim contacted me today regarding my order of the 128GH machine. Still have yet to hear about the 1.2GH machine. Not sure if it was brought on by the rather nasty email I sent or not, but a response is a response nonetheless. Apologies all around to AMT if they read this, but surely they could understand where I was coming from.

Apparently he said he would send the tracking number as soon as he got to work this morning. That was at 9:30 AM. 3:30 PM and still no tracking number, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt anyway. If it was sent out yesterday, with the shipping method I used, I should get it by tomorrow afternoon.

Since the order was placed on December 1st (at least, according to their website), it should have shipped at the 29th. At the time, 128GH would not have been able to achieve a positive ROI by the end of the machine's lifetime. I have written to Jim asking about their Miner Protection Agreement, and will be waiting on a response to the upgrade inquiry. Not the biggest issue in the world in my mind - at least I'm getting my miner soon - but it would be nice to see they're willing to back up their own agreements.

I'll post again once I receive my miner with pictures as well as some actual performance details. I'll also update once I hear about the MPA. Hopefully things check out.

Why don't they hire someone to be on the phone (or email) all day?

Code is supposedly a mess....

Is it or isn't it?

From what I have read, it is pretty brilliant and I see a lot of fingers being pointed but no one presenting anything better.

I call that creating FUD.

I say put up or shut up to the naysayers.

Look if you use a 64 bit java long to represent addresses rather than the standard bitcoin 160 bit token, then you are just begging to be cracked.

2905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 07, 2014, 04:36:15 PM
I contacted asking to add IXC to coinpayments.net

The answer says a lot of how much this coin has been left uncared.

Coinpayments.net answered:

"Hello Dexter,

Because nobody requested it, at least until now Smiley
The coin request list is 100% coins people requested.

-CoinPayments"

From now if IXC is almost unused, unknown or not even considered, the person you should blame, probably, is the one you see every day in the mirror.

Rome was not built in a day.

Have you looked at coinmarketcap.com?

iXcoin is holding up very well in this down turn.  One of the few coins that's positive on the day.

That's because iXcoin is just bouncing at the bottom, with really just a few people who are aware of it.   Yet,  despite this,  it is still #25 in the list.  If IXC doubles from 13 cents to 26 cents, it hits #16.

Anyway,  give it time.   Many of the coins ahead of IXC in the list are just there because they are new and have a ridiculous # of coins printed... give those coin 2 1/2 year and the'll trend to zero.

Look at the coins ahead of iXcoin in cap:

#2 Ripples  99,999,998,202 XRP*
#7 Nxt 999,997,986 NXT*
#10 WDC 39,004,513 WDC
#11 Quark 247,101,745 QRK
#13 FTC 28,989,100 FTC
#15 Infinite 89,507,643,917 IFC
#16 DOGE 22,912,826,283 DOGE
#18 Zeta 159,505,875 ZET
#21 Netcoin 196,577,530 NET
#22 Tickets 66,876,281,414
#27 Earth 639,986,572 EAC

A majority of these coins aren't less than 6 months old.   What price will these coins be 2 1/2 years from now?  Some of these coins print like 1 million coins per block.  These are mostly pump and dump coins that the unsuspecting consumer thinks it is cheap beacuse of the price.

iXcon is genuinely cheap.... most of these coins are pumps.

I don't worry about the new flood of altcoins, simply because none of them really has any real differentiator from the others.   iXcoin is unique because it is #3 in hash rate.
2906  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm dumping Nxt and here's why you should too on: January 07, 2014, 04:09:31 PM
I took one look at the source code and realized that is was a complete joke.

At least the eMunie developer took at least 6 months to develop his coin.  These guys probably took a weekend.

You can't have immature software that you fix on the fly while you have a ton of investors wondering what your next bandaid would mean.   It is just insane!

I've seen this kind of denial behavior with some of those fraudulent chinese stocks that were listed in U.S. exchanges.   Its crazy how people are so steadfast with their beliefs just because they have an invested.

Anyway,  let's see how this will all end.

Hello, I bought my own coin on coingen.io. I have gotten all the files but not sure on how to mine it. The owner did not provide any information except "hashcoin"-qt. He does not respond to support emails with answers. Please help me out.

Client: http://hashcoins.org

Mods: Im sorry if i put this in the wrong place.

If you are the only node on the network then you can't mine it.

How do i add nodes? Im confused. THey need to provide instruction for 0.05 btc

I don't know how these clones are structured, but typically they just your an IRC channel to communicate.  So all you have to do is start more than one instance of this on the the public internet.
2908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: January 07, 2014, 03:58:43 PM
I'll try to ask OP some serious questions instead of "reserved" or trolling.

We noticed Bitcoin supports multi-sig and contracts but no one uses it. Mastercoin takes the prospective of "put everything on the block chain" but maybe contracts should not be on the block chain at all. For distributed exchanges and other types of assets, it appears to be more flexible to keep them off the blockchain.

+1

Let me know when you have source code ready to go!

ChromaWallet Beta has been released.

We will be investigating this development to see how we can incorporate the wallet natively within iXcoin.

The objective is for iXcoin by default support ChromaWallet.

So, if Namecoin provides Name registration capability, the iXcoin provides Smart Property capabilities.

IXCoin

Ranked #2 In Alt-Coin Network Hash Rate at 5 Peta Hashes
Time tested, been around for 2 1/2 years
Very limited coins, 17 million total.
Up to date with latest Bitcoin 0.8.6 release
International focus
First coin to support 'native' smart currencies.
2913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 07, 2014, 10:40:46 AM
A final bit of trivia.

Among the 3 major merged mined coins, Namecoin, Devcoin and iXcoin,  iXcoin has the first and only fully working version of the Bitcoin 0.8.6 client.

Namecoin has not performed the port and is still back at 0.3.7
Devcoin, some folks have performed the port but are having issues with some calculations.

So in terms of the innovation race,  iXcoin is in a *very* good position.

2914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 07, 2014, 10:33:45 AM

I am still at a bit of a loss as to why you don't use IOCOIN, it has a good hash 1/5th of IXC and no premine  cloud, scam hanging over it.

We have a cooperative relationship right now with I0Coin, in fact I've sent their lead developer some of the bounties for his contributions toward the IXcoin 0.8.6 client.

Three things

(1)  IXcoin has a much higher hash rate that I0coin, IXcoin is right behind Namecoin in hashrate.
(2)  I really don't know what I0coin means.  It needs a rebranding.  At least I can say "iExchangeCoin" or "International eXchange Coin".
(3)  I0coin in market cap is really languishing with the rest of the riff-raff coins.  IXcoin is constantly just right at the edge and a little push will take it into serious territory.
2915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 07, 2014, 01:07:22 AM

I agree and many still think ixCoin is either dead or a scam.  The whole scam thing has got to go and just that alone would take us much higher.  For that we need something which adds real credibility and such an upgrade to the .7 code may go a long way toward that goal.

So what exactly would be required if a non-techie person would make the long trip to Miami?  Are we talking a presentation or just to be there to answer basic questions?

Probably its a bit late, so we won't be able to have like a booth or anything.   I will need to check the schedule to see if there's any opportunity to talk.

Well maybe we should plan instead for another conference.  I don't think there's enough time, which is unfortunate since it is a missed opportunity.

I mean, we still get ourselves organized.

The website and the code still need to get worked on.

What really upsets me is that the original developer had a very good opportunity, but he just botched it up.   I mean, he had the coin listed on BTC-E way back in 2012 and he did absolutely nothing.  Zero announcement.

Anyway,  I'm not one of the early adopters.  I paid for my IXC with hard earned BTC.  I do all this work for free because it is ridiculous obvious that iXcoin is in a very unique position relative to other coins.

The scam accusations are really an exaggeration,  the original dev pre-mined 500k, but spent like 250k on costs. 500k is like 2.5% of all the coins.   Meanwhile, Mastercoin is 100% pre-mined.  Other coins like FTC and PPC are massively instamined.  Anyway,  people recognize that now.

2916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 07, 2014, 12:55:24 AM
I wonder if its a bit too late to get some presence in the North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami?

This is on January 25-26th?

Anyone can make the trip to represent iXcoin?

I think the benefits of such an association are broad and deep.  Digital cash is all about cash and contracts seamlessly wrapped into one so we definitely want to go that way.  I'm a bit shocked that Bitcoin isn't doing it more extensively.  The only thing I can think about is the bureaucratic, bloated nature of its foundation which could prove to be its undoing if they fail to innovate quickly enough.  Too many rich people on that foundation with too much to lose making all the wrong choices.

As for the conference - what do you mean by representing?  I'm an Architect and the only other loud mouth here is Vlad and I believe he's an Economist so I'm not sure how non-techie guys can represent iXcoin which is why I'm asking what level of representation you're suggesting.

Otherwise I think it's a great idea and we should definitely have someone there to represent iXCoin.  Do you think you can roll out the .7 code with the colored coins upgrades by then, Jan 25th?  It would be nice to have something real and not just promises like most alt coins in this world.

With all the money that is on the line with Bitcoin, they need to take a very conservative approach to any core changes.  By contrast iXcoin can be a little bit more nimble and aggressive.

If we compare the 3 other competitors:

Mastercoin - rides on top of the Block chain but unfortunately there are serious concerns about its scalability.
Invictus - they have a basic clone (Protoshares) than is used as a way to raise funds for yet undelivered new kinds of coins.
ColoredCoins - an add on to Bitcoin, however no changes are made to Bitcoin to support it.

Presence in Miami would give up more exposure to people interested in crypto currencies.  I think a lot of folks have never heard of iXcoin simply because the coin has been neglected for so long by the original developer.

2917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING : iXcoin price up 100%! Network Hash Rate exceeds 1.5 PETA Hashes/Sec on: January 07, 2014, 12:47:17 AM
Vircurex is showing IXCoin as having less difficulty, but more hash rate, than DeVCoin.

Likely we are just seeing variance, it is not estimating the hash rate of one or both coins quite right, maybe because one or both changed difficulty and it has not had enoguh blocks to average out to discover approximate actual hash rate.

-MarkM-

Yes, is appears to be the case for the longest time, DVC has higher difficulty but hash rate between IXC and DVC are around the same.

I haven't seen DVC code, but like the difficulty adjustment algorithm is different.

Actually, you can see at coinwarz.com that DVC difficulty changes differently for IXC difficulty.

2919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 07, 2014, 12:20:47 AM

Very interesting angle you're taking.  But what makes you think they want ixCoin to join?  I mean, they don't want any competition - who would?  Why would they offer to join a competing coin or to help iXcoin out given iXcoin has some clear advantages, like its similarity to Bitcoin, its age and its massive hashrate?  iXcoin would instantly become the top favored coin in that group for numerous obvious reasons.

Can you clarify any further and when can we expect this to become real on any level?

Thanks you.

Well, I'm not sure yet if they want iXcoin to join, but usually these kind of organizations are interesting in getting more members and are more cooperative by nature.   Also note,  the members of this group are competitors to each other.  So there is a high probability that iXcoin can join.

I contacted them today.  Hopefully the requirements for joining aren't that high.

But I hope you all can see the benefits of the association.

2920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 06, 2014, 10:54:42 PM
I plan on iXcoin Development Team to join this organization:

http://www.coda.co

Members of this organization include Mastercoin,  Invictus and ColoredCoins.

The vision is to have iXcoin support a "native" implmentation of ColoredCoins.

We will be investigating the minimum necessary tweaks that are necessary for Bitcoin 0.8.6 and hope to release a release version when Bitcoin 0.8.7 is released.

Please stay tuned.

Please, can you explain your expectations in join this group?
Thankx

The idea is to position iXcoin as as the top platform for developing smart properties.  This group includes the top 3 most well known participants.  By associating with this group, we benefit from the association.  Furthermore, I hope to receive technical feedback from the group as we implement this in iXcoin.

Note also that MasterCoin and Protoshares (Invictus) have market caps that are at least 10 times iXcoin simply based on the 'hype' that these new kind of tehcnology will bring.

I will update the website to reflect the new strategy.
