I confirm that gabit has contacted me about this transaction, and I will be the escrow for this tx.
PS: 0.6-2.1% is the average tipping amount, but any amount will do.

OK, thanks john and TF, I am doing a re-stream after a full format now, using another computer ATM,
Is there a way to stop this again? Something better than gmail?
Also reading up on "rootkit" virus, I learned it can be placed in mobo bios?
Is this correct? how do I know if this has happned?
don't bios need to be signed? Dont know, I never mess with BIOS, I just read that it's possible to kernell dump a rootkit in the bios? on a side note, I just 2FA'd my e-mail, Anyway of doing that here? Or a trusted 3rd party software that will do this to anything I set it up for? I don't mind a small fee for this, Its much safer. The forum does not have any 2FA auth in place, although I would like to see it too. For the time being, only PGP can confirm my identity in a more secure way.

If you're using gmail, please take notice that it's one of the better free offerings for webmail both security and feature wise. Just enable GAuth, or the SMS 2FA to be 99% safe even your password is compromised. I cannot stress this part enough.

We welcome him?
But what are the implications for Bitcoin? For a start we are made aware that he is alive, and has access to a large amount of BTC. Some users here have BTC holdings amounting to 'a lot', but we're doing fine as ever. There's no reason to believe that he will implicate BTC in a negative way at all, especially when the project is open source and decentralized. But we'll get more complaints anyway. This is the nature of humans.

DPony13 are you going to pay me back?
If he's still owing you, please post at the scamming accusation subforum.

Has there been anything in the news? My best guess is that someone with large volumes needed to secure cash. Or perhaps a manupulative sell out and buy in?
It's the weekend dip again.

Somehow I'm totally not surprised about who that was. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Yeah - he even PM'ed me to beg too. Guess he did PM enough people to be banned by theymos.

Uh, I just see this a perfect opportunity to get coins below $60.

Just a quick note: I change my passwords regular, but as another precaution, anyone with my email address please don't make any contact with me through it, I will be setting up a new one. Thanks everyone for your advice. Regards, Squall1066
Start using PGP for sensitive transactions too. That's harder to compromise.

Change password, use 2FA, reformat your probably-rooted computer...
Hiya, what does rooted computer mean? Thanks squall1066 Means a keylogger/trojan infested computer, where anything you type on it and your wallets are open for the taking. A hack of emails usually means such a case, although it might mean that you're reusing passwords or using weak passwords. Get a 2FA device now.

My review on the experience using a gift code: I received the gift code via PM (unfortunately not via those neat-looking cards ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) ) and proceeded to redeem it at https://www.giftcoins.me/ . The site is straightforward, clean and pretty much self-explanatory. I even ticked the 'I want to receive an email confirmation of this transaction' part just to see the receipt, and a sleek email came in with the details of my TX. Everything is indeed as speedy as OP promised, with the coins hitting the blockchain in less then a minute after the confirmation. THANK YOU AND ENJOY SPENDING Redeemed amount: $15 Bitcoin amount: 0.18138083 Wallet ID: 1NB1KFnFqnP3WSDZQrWV3pfmph5fWRyadz 22.03.2013. 18:03 That works out to about $82.6989 per BTC when the Bitstamp price was around $71.19, so the cut for the site should be around 15% if I'm not wrong. The site had a hiccup initially when I used it, but giftcoins assured me it's a problem with Bitstamp and proceeded to clear the problem up a few minutes later. I suspect that it's only due to the API permissions and it's an one off problem - so no worries there. In a nutshell, this is a quick way to buy BTC, especially in a hurry.

Too long!
Elevator pitch must be 2-3 minutes max.
Yep - more than that and it's a FAQ. Try concentrating on the value, ease of transactions (and low fees), legality (yes that's important for most laymen), and probably try to equate it to something familiar like shares/gold etc.

I'm willing to "sacrifice" 2 $15 Giftcoins cards in return for your experience redeeming those cards for bitcoins

Design looks nice, but the card value should be denominated in BTC, not dollars.
+1. Design is beautiful, but unless you're preparing a system where the cards are essentially prepaid cards to deposit money in an exchange, denominating in BTC is much easier for the end user. Whitelisted to post elsewhere. *hint - Project Dev / Marketplace / Bitcoin Discussion depending on what kind of thread you want to make* that's a scratch-off card, code is at the back... card can be redeemed for bitcoins at giftcoins.me if you have $200 card for example it will always worth $200, bitcoins value depends on the day you decide to redeem it First reseller will start selling codes online today, I'll keep you posted Payment with credit cards ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) And this will be the fastest way to get bitcoins, 15sec to make card purchase and then 2-3min for bitcoins to show up in your wallet Figured - quite an innovative method here. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

thanks for your fast reply!
so this does not seem such a big problem to me because as franky1 wrote in the original thread, after importing the printed private key into an "electronic" wallet the paper address gets kind of compromised and part of the set of addresses in the electronic wallet. no use for the paper anymore.
IMO keeping this in mind (and also with common sense) there is no need to worry about change addresses.
Just make sure you back up the entire wallet.dat file regularly, especially if you have a lot of outgoing transactions as the change addresses might not be backed adequately. I still prefer using Armory/Electrum with the change option turned off though, just to ease the accounting and backups.

If my fiat wasn't tied up in BTC, and international wires are such a pain, I would be depositing in here for the rates. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
