2901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will be running in your mind if Bitcoin reaches $1000 again on: August 18, 2022, 11:29:55 PM
~snip~
Another fact is that people who's been here for quite a long time would quickly fill their bags when that happens. I have remembered there were still a lot of people who risks their money in hopes for Luna to pump back, but nah that's a no brainer as that alt died the moment it collapsed. However, Btc is most probably not going to drop that far. Number one reason would be the same reason as I have stated above.
In fact, right before Btc hits $10k, it would most probably bounce back  because just like what you said, DCAing is by far the most effective way in investing to Bitcoin.

The thing is that if you understand Bitcoin, and for some external reason the price is somehow very low for today's standards, then you would realize that it's a great opportunity to buy Bitcoin for cheap.

Bitcoin will continue to work as expected, yet there are constant attacks against it, and some of those attacks will include trying to manipulate its price.

At the end of the day, Bitcoin is simply the best money ever invented. If it's being sold at $1000 then that's just a sale.
2902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: August 18, 2022, 11:23:58 PM
~snip~
are you not wrong, I don't remember Qatar ever beating Ecuador in the 2018 world cup, even Ecuador was not plain at the 2018 World Cup which was held in Russia, as well as Qatar.
even qatar qualify automatically because they are the host of the 2022 world cup.
but ok.
this match is the opening match for the 2022 world cup. I think this match will be highly anticipated by the Qatari home fans themselves. Even so, Qatar will not easily beat Ecuador even though they benefit from competing in front of their own public, statistically Ecuador is better than Qatar.

The opening ceremony is probably going to be spectacular, the crowds are going to be there supporting their local team, but honestly, I don't think Qatar has any chances of winning against Ecuador.

In my mind the best result they can get would be a draw, probably 0 - 0.
2903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I Missed Out of a 10 Year Bitcoin Investment Plan on: August 18, 2022, 12:47:19 AM
my advice:

stop thinking what you would have done in the past, the past is gone, think about the present, bitcoin price will always be high and low, so buy low and sell high. thinking that I had to buy it in the past is a big mistake, what if the price never went up? if bitcoin was a failure? how could anyone imagine that the price would reach $40,000? there's just no way to have a crystal ball to guess this

I think that's a pretty good advice.

Thinking about the past only helps you to not make the same mistakes again, and can help you to shape your future goals.

But after that's done, then there's no point in continuing thinking about the past, it will just waste your time, and make you lose other opportunities in the present.

Argentina can go far, they need one more additional striker who can convert those chances and show up. I think that can be Julian Alvarez depending on what Pep does with him between July and November. And I am sure, they will give it their all to reach the finals and win the World Cup. At the end of the day, anything is really possible nowadays in this sport, especially after Madrid winning the Champions league, the best team doesn’t always win it all, so yeah Argentina definitely have a good shot, just like England, France, Brazil, Spain etc

Yeah, I agree. I would say there are about 4-6 teams that are very strong and will definitely clash between each other to get the world cup.

In my mind I'm thinking that it would be so great to see The Netherlands as the champions this time around, because they're so good but they've never actually won it, just 2nd place a few times.

You never know with football, they might just get lucky this time around.

Mate, these both teams were not in 2018 world cup, but they play a friendly match which won by Qatar due to few red cards which bring Ecuador play with nine men, and they were not able to handle this all and lost match by score of 4 - 3, and now we are talking about World Cup match which is going to play in Qatar after three months right now things are much different for both teams even many feeling Ecuador is very strong team still it is not easy match for anyone because we have all best teams from world and these all are here for win.

With Senegal is also very good, and they also can go through for next round because they outclass Poland in last world cup and play draw with Japan like this, we can expect good performance from them in this world cup as well.

Absolutely agree. There's no question in my mind that Ecuador will end up winning against Qatar in the inaugural match.

It won't be great for the hosts, but at the end of the day it's football and Ecuador is a better team, so they will probably end up winning.

The pre-game show is going to be spectacular it seems though...
2906  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Problem Gambler Feels After Losing on: August 17, 2022, 11:55:23 PM
Maybe problem gamblers will feel it less in the long run. if you're a problem gambler it means you've lost significant amounts of money many times before, I think you'll eventually learn to deal with that, although of course you'll continue to feel it every time you lose money. Often there are immediate intentions to stop once and for all, but if you feel like gambling again the next few days, that promise is gone like snow in the sun. That is how it goes usually.

When money problems start to appear then I don't see how the gambler will feel less bad after losing money gambling, which, in the long run will always happen.

It's basically the same as any other addiction. It's a downwards spiral, every time it gets a bit worse.
2907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you own 1 Bitcoin? (2022 edition) on: August 17, 2022, 11:48:32 PM
Isn't it normal that we live in a world where people may not be able to earn 20k dollars to invest? I mean, even in the USA the median wage was something like 60k to 80k I believe, that means quarter of a year's salary for many, and there are millions who earn less than that, and this is world's biggest economy as well, so even they can't.

And we are talking about billions upon billions of people, mostly in Asia, who do not earn 20k in a year, and probably earn more like 5-10k max, some who earn less than 5k a year. So, it is normal that people in the world may not have enough to get 1 bitcoin, doesn't sound like the reasonable thing to do at this point at all.

There are infinite ways of getting to own 1 bitcoin.

You're assuming only one of those, which is buying 1 bitcoin with fiat today, in 2022.

In 2009-2010 if you had a PC you could get 50 bitcoins for the cost of the electricity to power your PC for some hours/days.

Around that time also there were bitcoin fountains which gave multiple bitcoins just to play around with it. So you could have gotten it even for free.

But the thing is that the value of Bitcoin will continue to go up in the long term, so maybe we will see a similar question in the future phrased as "Do you own a million sats?", that is 1/100 of a Bitcoin.
2908  Economy / Speculation / Re: I do believe that Bitcoin will be more scarce than gold on: August 17, 2022, 11:38:04 PM
currently there are only about 2 million Bitcoins that have not been mined which means that very little is left of the 21 million supply and of course it will be increasingly difficult to mine it with a very small number of reward blocks, that's why bitcoins are rarer but unfortunately the price touched $20k is a very cheap price bitcoin should have remained at $60k as the lowest price figure

Bitcoin continues to work as expected though, more than a decade after genesis.

The price swings are just caused by many external factors, but fundamentally Bitcoin has never been stronger. And it will continue to get stronger every block.

The price in the long term will continue to rise, both because it's priced in fiat which loses purchasing power over time, and also because more and more people will want to get access to Bitcoin over the decades, but there's only a finite amount of it.
2909  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Collection Thread] Series and films in which Bitcoin (or Altcoins) appear on: August 17, 2022, 11:33:23 PM
In The Simpsons, episode 18 of season 32 titled “Burguer Kings”, we can see an interesting quick visual joke on the bottom of the screen: the price of Bitcoin will be “infinite”. Will this new Simpsons prediction be as accurate as the others?  Wink

https://www.ibtimes.com/simpsons-predicts-future-price-bitcoin-will-it-be-accurate-3180756

Nice catch. Here it is:

This is similar to what Saylor said: "It's going up forever, Laura."

It basically makes sense. Bitcoin is a scarce and valuable asset, priced in fiat, which loses purchasing power over time. Double whammy.
2910  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Profitable are Gambling Bots? on: August 17, 2022, 11:26:29 PM
~snip~
A bot playing a gambling game with a negative expected value will never produce any kind of profits regardless of the strategy used by the bot, the only bots which may have a chance of turning a profit are those which play a game which can be beaten, poker bots have been around for a long time however this goes against the TOS of most casinos so you risk getting your account banned, and not only that most of those bots come without a coded strategy, which means you have to code the bot yourself, so unless you can obtain profits out of poker and you know how to code you have no chance at all to make profits anyway with those bots.

Interesting, because it's known that in certain games you can maximize your chances of winning, let's say poker, based on tricks like counting cards, etc.

In a normal casino it's almost impossible to use any kind of device to help you with that, but in an online casino you could have any number of devices at home helping you.

I wonder how that works in the online casinos. Are the games rules there exactly the same as in a regular casino?
2911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's preventing bitcoin from worldwide adoption? on: August 17, 2022, 11:22:30 PM
Mostly it is lack of education of Bitcoin. People have heard about Bitcoin, but never know it. They don't know what it is. They don't know how to read a smart contract, and how to get Bitcoins. Thanks to trading platform people are now buying Bitcoins, if not mining them. But yes it's a long way to go before Bitcoin can actually become a true digital currency for common people

Yeah, I absolutely agree with that.

I would argue that the vast majority of people in the world that are somehow involved in Bitcoin are basically simply Bitcoin buyers. They just create an account in an exchange, and buy Bitcoin that stays there, like an index fund for example.

There's only a small fraction of those people who actually know a bit more about Bitcoin, have their own wallets, keep it secure, and use it for buying goods and services, as well as a savings mechanism.

But I believe that small number is increasing every year, and it will continue, accelerated by the new ATHs we will continue to see.

2913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's preventing bitcoin from worldwide adoption? on: August 17, 2022, 01:52:15 AM
There is one barrier is that the government does not want to allow it. Because they cannot take any tax on it nor has yet determined how to accomplish it. However, I personally think that such a policy by the government will be difficult to implement, which will hinder the development of cryptocurrencies. Government in India has legalized cryptocurrency investment but not yet legalized as a legal tender. Hopefully when the government of each country gives a positive opinion on it, all the obstacles of BTC will be over.

A government cannot stop the use of Bitcoin basically. And most western countries do tax Bitcoin in the sense that they consider it an asset, similar to having shares, or an index fund for example. You need to pay capital gains tax on Bitcoin in many countries. Also if you're paid in Bitcoin you have to pay income tax. Basically they treat it the same as any other financial instrument.

At the end of the day you could live your life with just Bitcoin if you sell goods and services and get paid in Bitcoin and you pay your bills in Bitcoin (which would be other people offering goods and services for Bitcoin). And there's nothing the government could do to stop that.
2914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What your ideas about bitcoin adoption in the future? on: August 17, 2022, 01:48:14 AM
~snip~
I believe, we will not see yet the stability of price of bitcoin in the next years to come.
However, the adoption will more than likely increase as years go by.
But we can't expect all to join this market, as many will still prefer fiat or other traditional payment method.
Just be grateful if this will expand its market. The more demand, the better for the price of btc.

The thing is that we'll start to see more and more services built on top of Bitcoin.

So, even if someone is doing an international transfer in fiat, most probably there will be a Bitcoin transaction under the hood to make it happen.

In the same way that the Internet is now pervasive, in the future Bitcoin will be everywhere as well.

Easier said than done mate, it really takes enough amount of courage to outsmart your habits and sometimes, getting professional help will be needed if you're that already deep because that habit becomes an addiction that you cannot turn your back into as you're already so accustomed to gambling and you cannot weigh down the things which is right or wrong.

But you're also right, we just have to take that step in-order to leave those kind of things.
Yeah, absolutely right. It is a very difficult thing to do.

It's the same with everything. The things you need to do to have a great life are each one simple. Exercise, simple. Eat healthy, simple. Etc. Those things are not complicated, but it's difficult to simply do them consistently. And that's why most people are fat and unhealthy, because it's easier to do the wrong things. But doing the right things is actually simple, it's just that it takes a lot of effort initially.

But you can simply do it one day at a time.
2916  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Profitable are Gambling Bots? on: August 17, 2022, 01:40:20 AM

Well somehow its good to have bots because you can maximize your bets as a whale and you can do what task you want to input in your bots. But sometimes many people have misconception towards this because sometimes they think that using bots can increase their chances to win that's why they waste their money buying it and soon they realize that they are just wasting their money for this especially if they are not whales.

The people making money are probably the sellers of the bots and the casino owners. I haven't seen any bot that can actually generate more money, independent of the amount of money that you use with them.

The gambler himself is the one losing money in the end, even though there might be an illusion that he's doing well.
2917  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: August 17, 2022, 01:37:55 AM
No matter that Qatar is the host country on this first game against Ecuador there is money to be made and I think Ecuador odds will be really low as the difference in quality between the two teams is noticeable. We have seen quite some big surprises in the last World Cup but I doubt Qatar is able to achieve a surprise result against Ecuador.I think Ecuador needs to win this game at all costs in order to have a chance to qualify further,if they don't win against Qatar then against who will they win?
There is no doubt we have good history of early upsets, but this need something special and Qatar is surely not capable of giving any type upset in this world cup because their most players are playing leagues at home, and they have not good enough structure and quality in their league just money invested by few rich peoples for their sack is working in Gulf soccer leagues.

They have no enough quality to compete with top class teams right now in this group Ecuador and Senegal both are having good results in last few matches and most chances they are going to be tough for Qatar to give them tough time or having any upset against them as both are going to fight for place into next round.

Let's see. First match will be Qatar - Ecuador. I reckon Ecuador will win by one or two goals. Then Qatar - Senegal... I'm not really sure about this one. Maybe a draw. Then we'll have The Netherlands - Qatar, which of course the dutch will win. So, overall I can see Qatar ending with 1 point, and not going through the next stage. My guess is that The Netherlands and Ecuador will advance in that group.
2918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you stop gamble if your girl friend insists ? on: August 17, 2022, 01:27:08 AM
Gambling can get over hand and difficult to handle, so whoever does so is actually doing to his/her own peril. A girlfriend has no right to stop her man from gambling, even if she's chiefly responsible for the day to day up keep of the family she should know she has boundaries and stick to them.
Men also should know when to stop gambling, set limit's to alsls of this funds used. And to avoid beef's and quarrels in the relationship one has to stay clear gambling of your partner does tolerates it.

I would argue that if the situation is so that there's someone close to you that is worried about your behavior then it means that it has probably gone too far and things are not under control any more.

It's basically a red flag that you should pay attention to and assess the situation. Everyone is responsible of their own actions, not other people.
2919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: August 16, 2022, 03:10:49 AM

Along with talent, luck also matters a lot. Qatar 2022 is the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup. Brazil managed to win the trophy a total of 5 times out of 21. Given their strength and dominance in world football, we would expect them to win a lot more, right? But this is football and it is very unpredictable. After the first phase, it depends on results from the knockout matches. There will be no second chances and a single mistake from any team can see the exit from the tournament. The same happened to France during Euro 2020.

Absolutely.

Italy for example, one of the best teams in the world, didn't get to even qualify for this World Cup.

In football even though in general you see stronger teams winning against weaker teams, it's always full of surprises. As you said, a single mistake can remove a team from the competition. For example an own goal at the last minute. A failed penalty, etc. There are so many ways in which a match can go wrong. That's partly why football is so fascinating.
2920  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Problem Gambler Feels After Losing on: August 16, 2022, 01:10:38 AM

Gambling is a way to get rich in a short time.  So it attracts more people age of 20-40 years.  Because people of this age are more inclined towards money.  Then they get greedy and waste their hard-earned money by gamble. And they lose gambling and go into depression.  Which creates turmoil in their family.
We can't commonly term gambling as a way to get rich. It needs to be very specific, which means gambling is way to get rich for the luckiest. The age group between 20-40 have big commitments and the same makes people risk their hard earned money. Many people have made fortune out of gambling, for the same we should not believe it to come with is.

I would say that the people that have made a fortune in gambling are basically the owners and stock holders of the casinos.

The math is pretty clear, and it's in favor of the casino.

A gambler can get lucky here and there, but if they continue gambling, they will end up losing the money to the casino eventually. The math is all you need to understand this.
