2921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [May 2021] Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: May 29, 2021, 05:17:23 AM
-snip-
I noticed that in April this year there was a large increase in transactions with less than 1 Sat/vByte showing on https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,6m,weight,0

Did something change to allow that to happen? I'm curious to see if any pool mines them if/when we get there.
That site doesn't represent the majority of the node's mempool and there's no related changes in the code after April 2021: https://github.com/jhoenicke/mempool/commits/master
So maybe he just started accepting <1sat/B transactions or lower his previous setting (minrelaytxfee=n BTC/kB) and for some reason, they never left his mempool since.

Or a bug perhaps?
Maybe it has something to do with the changes he did in the default fee level: https://github.com/jhoenicke/mempool/commit/cffef45b49fc233664d2e735b9f30b1c0016b7c6
Forcing it to zero might have resulted with that graph.

Guys many thanks for explanation & advices.

BTW sorry for complete offtopic in here if some mod would decide to make a separate section about freebitco.in issues, kindly go ahead. I am just truly reader and once I faced this I just had to reply  Cool
No problem.

Custodial service-related issues can be posted in this board: Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Marketplace > Service Discussion
If you got further concerns or updates, you can create a thread there.
They've also got their own thread in Gambling board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=320959.17000 (link to the current last page)
2923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v15.0 (Windows/Linux) on: May 27, 2021, 03:37:34 AM
MEGA download link isn't working. Please update.
This thread is dead and and OP hasn't logged-in since November 12, 2019.
If you found other direct links to Claymore Ethereum GPU Miner, that's most likely a malware.
2924  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to sign a message?! on: May 27, 2021, 03:30:04 AM
-snip-
well then that's truly sad, I've got an issue with suddenly no receiving emails - contacted provider, contacted support here, I got same advice:
"Sign a message from the Bitcoin address in the profile or an address you previously deposited from requesting the email change."

So there is truly NO FURTHER OPTIONS right?
The problem I described is if you haven't changed the default withdrawal address in your profile.

Otherwise, you can follow the second option in their instruction which I believe any address you've used to deposit bitcoins to your account.
I can't quite figure out "or an address you previously deposited from" but it seems like the address you've used in your previous deposits, there's no other addresses a user can sign anyways.

Anyways, if you've deposited before and can't recall the address used, you can open their deposit page:
"Profile->Deposit" and there's a list of "old deposit addresses" below that window.
You can paste them to a blockexplorer to check for a transaction that looks like your previous deposit and take note on the input(s).
If it belongs to the wallet you used to deposit and it's non-custodial, you can try to sign a message using that address.
2925  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Location of CoPay private keys on iOS on: May 26, 2021, 03:48:09 AM
Can you still open Copay when you restore a backup of the iPhone? It's okay even if it can't connect to servers.
It's old and these might not be accurate but try to export an offline backup:
  • Tap settings icon and then tap the wallet name to open wallet options.
  • Tap "More options" and then "Export Wallet"
  • Type your password and your backup phrase should show up or exported into a text file depending on your selection.

If Copay isn't accessible, I can't help any further.
2926  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Location of CoPay private keys on iOS on: May 26, 2021, 02:55:12 AM
The backup should be your "recovery phrase",
I don't how many words BitPay used when it was CoPay but it should look like a random set of words consisting of 12 or 24 for standard phrases, sometimes more or less.

The average mempool size is quite low right now and you may be able to send a priority txn (1mb from tip) with <10sat/B fee rate.
So would you recommend this option? How likely is it to ever arrive when I go cheap with Fee rate 2.7 or 1.3 sat/B?
I'd rather not answer with an estimated time of arrival since mempool is unpredictable, but I'd say 2.7 or 1.3 sat/B are a bit low even for a normal priority fee.
If more transactions are added, it may take days or weeks, if vice versa, the next hour or so.

With the current standing, you can go as low as 7sat/B and it will still be cheap as long as your transaction isn't large in size (not the amount to be sent).
The (virtual) size of the transaction heavily depends on the number of inputs it spend and their (script) address types, quite affected by the number of outputs.
I believe that's already explained in the OP of this thread.
2928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will the fees come down? Fees wallet dependend? on: May 25, 2021, 04:56:09 AM
I've replied to your post to LoyceV's thread.
Just for additional info: If you don't know how to change the Fee slider into "mempool", just tap "Within x blocks" and it will switch from the three available sliders: ETA, mempool and static.

The average mempool size is quite low right now and you may be able to send a priority txn (1mb from tip) with <10sat/B fee rate.

That's Electrum (right?), the problem is your selected target fee algorithm,
you can change "ETA" into "Mempool" and you'll see that even "1mb from tip" will suggest lower fee rate than the minimum of ETA.

-edit-
My reply from your own thread:

2930  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: problem with address to receive bitcoin with expiration time of 1 day on: May 25, 2021, 02:48:46 AM
Hello everybody. I am a newbie to bitcoins. -snip-
The transaction that you posted and description of the issue doesn't seem to match.

Is your Electrum new?
Because I don't see any bech32 address (starts with bc1) in the outputs that's still unspent.
(Electrum versions starting March 30, 2021 will only create native SegWit wallets by default)

If it's created before version 4.1.0 when legacy address can be created:
The address is from Electrum's receive tab, so the address must be "unused" without a history, but every unspent output from that transaction have previous transaction history.

My conclusion is: You must have pasted the wrong address when you redeemed your voucher or you're using a fake Electrum.

Let's go hope. If possible, you can try to recover your bitnovo wallet to electrum.

Quote
The Bitnovo Wallet is equipped with a Security Seed and is compatible with the BIP39 protocol
That will work if he pasted his address from Bitnovo wallet instead of Electrum's,
The service where users redeem their vouchers is separate to the wallet, they can paste any coin/address there.
2931  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: VanitySearch (Yet another address prefix finder) on: May 24, 2021, 03:11:36 AM
Any idea what kind of gpu i need and how difficult/custom i can get ? how long with one 3080 for address like 1Bitcoin.... ? Thanks
There's a link in the OP of benchmarks reported by some users, here's the link: /index.php?topic=5112311.msg50823897#msg50823897
But it also depends on your luck, it may be faster or slower than the displayed ETA.

For reference, a GPU with 1000 MK/s would roughly search 50% of the search-space of "1Bitcoin....." in 10hours.
That's an average of 5-15± hours.
2932  Economy / Exchanges / Re: CoinbasePRO Question on: May 24, 2021, 03:01:39 AM
Have you deposited some USD from your linked bank account to your Pro account before setting-up the limit orders?

If not, you should read this FAQ page of Coinbase pro:
2933  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Urgent Help. recover stuck transaction from phishing attack?? on: May 24, 2021, 02:18:57 AM
Hi hope i can help, here is a video you can follow watch the whole video and follow steps. You may need your wallet phrase or key. You can thank me later then if it worked.
-snip-
That's a quite old video.
With the current rules, it wont work because most nodes wont accept the replacement transaction if the it has no RBF flag.
Secondly, localbitcoins (if there was something special with their push service) now uses Blockstream's esplora to push transaction that wont also accept the replacement txn.
2934  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Need to change Email address on: May 23, 2021, 08:14:31 AM
Users in Bitcointalk wont be able to do something about it as well.

You should be patient on their customer support.
Depending on the service, it may take days or weeks before they reply.

By the way, can you tell the name of the wallet/exchange? There may be a user here who's affiliated with them.
2935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: btcrecover token.txt file on: May 23, 2021, 02:53:40 AM
Even only having that simple token in, it max's out the run time, before its able to actually run the attack. what would you reccomend?
You need to have a very huge RAM in order to preload all of the combinations,
with that "simple" all-characters/symbols 7-character password token, a 32GB RAM wont still be enough (increasing page file would help).
Anyways, bruteforce without any clue of the password is a total waste of time, recovery services wont even accept it if you'll say that you don't have a clue on the password.

Just look for notes and papers that may contain the password for his wallet.dat, Bitcoin core doesn't have a recovery phrase BTW.
2936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core wallet.dat restore shows wrong amount. on: May 23, 2021, 02:04:52 AM
As it looks like there is no way to update the unencrypted version of the wallet. I'd like to know how to simply verify the amount in the encrypted wallet so I can maybe try to work with Dave at http://walletrecoveryservices.com/.
If that's the case, get all of your addresses with balance from the result of:
Quote from: listaddressgroupings
Lists groups of addresses which have had their common ownership
made public by common use as inputs or as the resulting change
in past transactions

Open the console (Window->Console) and type that command:
Code:
listaddressgroupings
All of your used addresses including change will show up there, the associated balance will display below each addresses.
2937  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Learning Newb trying to retrieve BTC on: May 21, 2021, 04:01:56 AM
So a few years back I created an Armory Wallet with the Secureprint code and root key thru exploration of crypto at the time.  I printed the paper backup and had lost it for a few years but found it recently.  I downloaded the software on a Windows machine and input all the information.  It requested and I input a new passphrase which I did and it shows offline.  I readily admit I was new then and still am now but trying to get access to the 2 BTC's I gained back then and is in there.

I read some other threads about downloading Bitcoin Core which seems daunting.  Do I following the instructions on the Bitcoin Core website for Windows in conjunction with Armory Wallet and that will give me online access to what is stored in there or is there another process I must follow?
-snip-
2BTC is worthy enough to not meddle with the private keys, I'd suggest you to let Bitcoin core sync in order for Armory to be online.

If you have enough disk space and internet bandwidth, leave Bitcoin core's setting as it is.
Just normally launch Bitcoin Core (bitcoin-qt) 'till it's fully synced (check settings->options if "prune blockchain" is enabled) it must be disabled.
Add server=1 to your bitcoin.conf file, create one in the default data directory or use this tool if you don't have one: https://jlopp.github.io/bitcoin-core-config-generator

After it sync, launch Armory without changing the settings so it'll use all default directories and it will build the database and scan your wallet's balance.
After that you should be able to spend your balance.

If you really can't sync the wallet and need to dump the private keys, there are a few more steps to display all the keys aside from the explained by the post above:
Click "Wallet Properties" then, "Backup This Wallet".
Check "Export Key Lists", then the button with the same name below, type your password and a window will open.
Check "Include Unused (Address Pool)", check "Omit spaces in key data" (below) and find your address from the list and copy its private key WIF (PrivBase58).

Download Electrum from the official site: electrum.org
Use, "Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys" when creating a new wallet, and paste your private key there.
2938  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed paper wallets sweep, "unconfirmed parent" afterwards ... on: May 21, 2021, 02:48:31 AM
-snip- (i guess i was wondering what the difference is between vbyte and byte there, i mean, if 828sat/vbyte is the "same" as sat/byte, but i guess i’ll have time to google and educate myself in the upcoming nervewrecking days.) :-)
Take note that Electrum shows the fee rate in sat/byte but technically, it's sat/vbyte.
The developers' reason AFAIK is: its "misleading newbies" which IMO not mostly the case.
2939  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: P2PKH hex to address on: May 20, 2021, 05:44:27 AM

-snip-
The input that you're looking at isn't P2PKH thus, shouldn't be converted into an address, it's a non-standard script which translates into:
Code:
OP_PUSHBYTES_8 04678afd04678afd OP_DROP OP_SHA256 OP_PUSHBYTES_32 894eeb82f9a851f5d1cb1be3249f58bc8d259963832c5e7474a76f7a859ee95c OP_EQUAL

I believe it's the output of the mentioned txn in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=52378.msg625507#msg625507
Thread has some guesses on how to spend it.
2940  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Qt_5_PRIVATE_API not defined in libQt5Gui.so.5 with 4.1.2-x86_64.AppImage on: May 20, 2021, 03:23:25 AM
As said nc50lc :
Quote
Electrum has its own script to build libsecp256k1, the version for your OS might have a missing module.
Try to use:
Code:
$ ./Electrum-4.1.2/contrib/make_libsecp256k1.sh
So I should rebuild libsecp256k1 and tell mageia team to build it properly, or more, to include it in its repository.
That's good, AFAIK older versions of Ubuntu had the same issue with libsecp256k1 that had been causing the same error in Electrum.
The Appimage however has it already, pre-compiled.
