2921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russian Law Would Send Bitcoin Users to Jail as Cybercriminals on: April 28, 2016, 10:18:10 PM

I have no access to actual numbers, but some article quoted a Russian official claiming bitcoin use by criminals in Russia went up x12 in the past year. Have no idea how such stats are gathered/what they even mean, but if bitcoin is really becoming a problem, then the hardships of a few legit bitcoiners will be outweighed by the overall win for Russia as a whole. Pragmatic.

I guess it can be about the mafia use from Cryptolockers.

This. I may be mistaken, but I thought the majority of cyber crime originated from Russia, China, and North Korea. With the overwhelming majority actually coming from Russia. It seems cogent they would at least take steps to regulate cryptos (esp with the ruble doing the cool jerk) but this seems a little heavy handed. With that being said, media is state controlled/influenced and I'm pretty sure this is part of the propaganda machine that was born when Putin's name came up in the Panama Papers.

"We're huuuuuuge into not being shady, see?"
2922  Economy / Economics / Re: Is gold better than Bitcoin? on: April 22, 2016, 11:14:20 PM
If the shit hits the fan, gold might buy you ammunition, food or services. Bitcoin, while cool as fuck, will get you starving and defenseless.

Trust long term value storage with long term, established assets. Anything else isn't storage; its speculation.
2923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where on Google Maps is the crypto bagholders cemetery? on: April 06, 2016, 03:50:16 AM
Just for the sake of addressing the thought, has anyone considered the possibility that so few people have lost more than they've gained here that there's just not enough stories to have a cemetary at all?

Sure, lots of people have lost out on a trade here or there .. sometimes pretty big. But, over the length of their time here could more people than we think have netted a larger overall gain?

Interesting perspective. I feel as though the lack of investor disciple in this space, which is a result of lack of investor education, means that the majority of people are most likely losing. Hell, I lost huuuge on NeoBee myself. And that's on exchanges, I'm not speaking to the known ponzis and transparent scams folks like to chuck money at around here. The fact that the majority of the securities and alts of the past went ass up means that if you invested in a certain timeframe, about 3 years ago, you probably got burned at some point.
2924  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How can we encourage local businesses to accept BTC? on: April 05, 2016, 02:54:31 AM
I have found that food truck operators that have the ability (and familiarity) to use an electronic payment system, are often really eager to hear about bitcoin. I'm guessing those guys aren't too picky about their customer base, but we got a snowball stand and a cupcake truck to accept btc after kicking it with the owners a bit. To be fair, they were hipster (not saying this as a slight, but a indication they are familiar with current consumer technology) but hey, adoption is adoption.
2925  Economy / Securities / Re: What is the best storage place for bitcoin? on: April 05, 2016, 02:47:58 AM
I'd suggest a hardware wallet , although expensive. Otherwise, I think a laminated paper wallet printed with a uv resistant ink. Or make a bracelet of the private key with alphanumeric plastic  beads. Use a different color for the capital characters. I'd use the hardware wallet for a deposit box solution, the other two for something I would bury in the yard, or put in a filing cabinet.
2926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 15 consecutive losses and counting - FORTUNEJACK ! on: April 03, 2016, 05:23:51 AM
sorry to hear this bro  Sad smaller bets next time, and try betting on binaries like events, decent return and you can actually apply organization stats to influence your winningness. Better than 50/50 at least.
2927  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spanish League Prediction Thread (La Liga) on: April 03, 2016, 05:17:58 AM
Woot on Real's win, I only watched this after seeing the bet on bitcasino's promos. Lucky for me, monster match, and that flying goal..

2928  Economy / Securities / Re: BetKing.io Investment pitch - Established and profitable Bitcoin casino on: April 03, 2016, 04:43:02 AM
I'm curious to see more data on this, and the development as far as the legality of on-platform issued shares. Would said shares be xferable between users, to facilitate liquidity?

I'd stay away from issuing a coin. The exchanges are manipulated to all hell, don't subject your asset's valuation to unnatural market forces. Depending on the coin algorithm, you would also be at the whim of your miners.

Just a suggestion Grin
2929  Economy / Securities / Re: Invest in Apple with Bitcoin! on: April 03, 2016, 04:33:15 AM
As stated, it doesn't really make a ton of sense to buy Apple with btc. If you are using btc to purchase a fractional share, which is the only reason I would even consider using bitcoin (and it still makes little sense).

Better to use Motif, it's more like investing in a mutual fund, but since you can make your own basket, you can make a fractional purchase of one of the blue chips with minimal commissions.

And you are only offering whole shares, this isn't even a pass through. What the hell is this? Huh Grin
2930  Economy / Securities / Re: Bitcoin Treasury Bonds -- Yields up to 6.75% on: April 03, 2016, 04:22:57 AM
Thank you for your interest. With our experience in the financial industry, we are one of the most trusted bitcoin entities and are looking forward to raising money through Bitcoin Treasury Bonds.

We have already sold 154 units (154 BTC) of bonds privately prior to announcing here.

Who are 'we'? Since you are experienced in the financial industry, surely you have a proven track record as either individuals or a firm. Provide a LinkedIn or resume.

Will this be listed on an exchange for shareholder liquidity?

Also, how is the value generated that will provide the profit on these "bonds" after they reach maturity?
2931  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best place to get a free dog on: April 03, 2016, 04:15:11 AM
This is off topic as fuck, I suspect this is a troll, and please, please don't get a dog. That's the wrong attitude for anything that will need to be actively cared for. Stick with a plant, preferably, Chia or cactus. If you get mad at the cactus, or bored, punch or kick it repeatedly . Instant cure  Grin
2932  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any safe way to grow my bitcoins ? on: April 03, 2016, 03:58:00 AM
Poloniex's lending section is alright at the moment for a low but relatively risk free investment. You will have to deposit your funds for a minimum of 2 days. Just-dice is also pretty decent, again a low rate or return, and you are holding CLAMS (and subsequently are subject to price swings), but the staking function on invested funds is pretty damned neat.

Also, don't forget to dig the CLAMS from addresses you controlled that may posses them, if you have any.
2933  Economy / Securities / Re: Neo & Bee talk (spam free thread) on: April 03, 2016, 03:48:32 AM
I'm gauth locked out of my Havelock account until I send in docs, is there a share listing anywhere that anyone saved? Lmb holdings is defunct to the best of my knowledge  Huh Was the share allocation per btc address thing ever published?
2934  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Asks Users for LinkedIn Info on: April 01, 2016, 04:37:39 PM
They already tie you to a phone number, bank account and physical address for their verification process. LinkedIn as well? That just seems invasive, not only is there absolutely no need for integration or association between these two services (I don't think people routinely transact on LinkedIn, but I could be wrong). Also, LinkedIn is non verified, user submitted info, why is it even useful? If they were gonna offer this maybe it would have been better with Facebook, or Google +
2935  Economy / Services / Re: YoBit.Net - Signature Campaign - Realtime Payouts (daily) on: April 01, 2016, 08:08:15 AM
its funny, i see more vitrol here toward newbies and the uninformed than in off topic. the signature campaign thing really brings out the worst in some. lighten up people. i have been on this thread for only a few days now, and its quite obvious this thread gets alot of redundancy. just like most threads frequented by new users. hell, this is new to me, and the button worked just fine when I clicked it a few days ago. so pardon my ignorance.

i will make sure to pm one of you guys should i have a query. god forbid i expend one of these what must be golden posts in a semblance of normal communication.
2936  Economy / Services / Re: YoBit.Net - Signature Campaign - Realtime Payouts (daily) on: April 01, 2016, 03:47:29 AM
signature send to balance button not working on my side but it is working on a friend in our local thread. anyone here can verify if its working or not?

I'm experiencing some of the same right now, the button doesn't work on both Opera and Chrome browsers, and Chrome mobile.
2937  Economy / Services / Re: BitSupra Signature Campaign on: April 01, 2016, 02:23:43 AM
Lets keep the useless hating towards each other in pms guys. This thread is meant for the bitsupra campaign, not off topic trash talking. BTW Lutpin is a respected member of this community, no offense towards you sir but hes just stating the obvious. Easiest way to resolve that is delete 1 of the posts

I will delete my posts, all of them, from this thread, save my objections to being maligned. I feel I have just as much respect here as Lutpin, I have done nothing to sully my name in this community, and I have contributed without asking. Account longevity does not indicate superiority. I am going to have to lose my damned religion because I was a few seconds too late submitting my post.

Good day sirs, God bless you, and good luck with your ad campaign.

And to restate, I'm offended because of the insinuation that I need to abuse an affiliate program to generate income for my home.

Thank you again for your time, and I sincerely apologize to everyone that had to see that. I know you just got this campaign and I have no wish to make your job any harder than it is.
2938  Economy / Services / Re: BitSupra Signature Campaign on: April 01, 2016, 01:30:32 AM
lol look at the above 5 posts ,typical YoBit Sig Spamming hierarchy ,even before the campaign is opened ,shit posting is initiated by the YoBit Army.

Since my post is in the above five, I'm going to assume you were talking to me. Please do not question my motivations if you are not aware of them. I stand beside my contributions to this community, and invite you to publically review the quality of my post via my posting history. You have offended me with this. There are a bunch of shill and spam bastards on this forum; I am plainly not one of them.

I apologize if this came off over the top, and I apologize for taking your thread off the rails. Please continue.
2939  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: March 31, 2016, 10:16:17 PM
Did we ever hear what the big surprise was?  Or was it just coupons being issued?  Seems like a silly thing to take the exchange offline for, for a couple of days...

To be fair, I think they may have done a little background style updatery, but that was the most anticlimactic announcement ever. I suspect they were gonna say something else, that may have fell through, and threw that up (discount) so their wasn't an awkward silence. I'm not complaining, I'm just confused  Grin
2940  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Platoon Game - Web Based Multiplayer Strategy Game for Real Bitcoin on: March 31, 2016, 10:03:15 PM
This was a great game, and I'm going to miss this. Sad I like long running games like this and zandagort that rely on decent gameplay and mechanics instead of flashy graphics. This was well coded, and we appreciate your time on this project. If you ever reboot this, let us know, and if you guys haven't, look into real cash economy games, those guys would have eaten this up. And if you guys want an awesome idea for a bitcoin economy mud (I can't code for shit) send me a pm, I have some ideas I'd like to bounce around.
