Overall, MMA markets are the best for finding value in underdogs these days imo. And that's even after the books got sharper through the years.
Perfect opportunity to bet on underdogs is upcoming UFC event, with Mackenzie Dern vs Xiaonan Yan. I know Dern is a favorite to win but odds are very low on her, and there is amazing value betting on Yan despite she lost her last two fights. Even better chance is for events like Oliveira vs Makhachev and Adesanya vs Pereira, and I can't wait to see that one. |

Actually Delboni is the new challenger and DeCoursey is the old one  Sorry but his is not true, when I said old I meant current old champion. Jessica Delboni is current atomweight champion in Invicta from January 12 of this year so she can't be challenger in the same time.  Jillian DeCoursey is the only challenger and I don't think she was ever Invicta champion. Anyway, I think I heard the name Bo Nickal before. Isn't he the same guy who already fought in the Contender Series? I heard he's good and if it's him I wonder why he wasn't given a UFC contract.
Contender Series is starting in few hours, and I also remember Dana White was impressed with Bo Nickal last time and he told him he will sign a contract if he wins one more fight. He is just starting his MMA carrier but he is coming from American Top Team and he has good grappling background. Bellator doesn't really make that possible, due to the matchmaking they seem to do. At least with the UFC, there's only the occasional landslide. For example, like the Nate vs Chimaev fight that got cancelled. I wasn't all that interested in that fight due to the matchmaking, but also the odds didn't make it exciting at all.
I know what you are saying but it's always interesting to watch Yoel Romero, unless he is fighting with Israel Adesanya  UFC has much bigger budget, maybe because they pay fighter less, and they sign new fighters all the time with Dana White Contender Series. Last Bellator event have had a fair share of underdogs getting the W. Huge underdogs too... I'm pretty sure a lot of parlays were busted. Lol.

The hype is because he is 17 and he is in UFC ? Or that 17 years old kid compete with adults? I dont understand that. He is allowed to his people in the face, get paid for that, but is not allowed to buy an alcohol - lol I remember Mike Tyson started boxing very early and he had his first official fight with 18 years old, but I would say that MMA is much more dangerous. Someone even said that Tyson had to lie in one of his fights because he was underage but he didn't look that young. Manny Pacquiao was age 16 when he started fighting inside the ring with adult boxers, but back then the age limit was very strict so he used fake age when he fights inside the ring, they say that he is already willing to fight a guy with 10 years gap to him, but you can never be young or old to get what you wanted, or to be who you wanted to be, It just that in a young age he is early to look for things that could make him money for his family,

Yeah, although Izzy did move up a weight class, and was significantly under weight, since that division allows a larger amount of weight difference, obviously. So, it's understandable how he was taken to the ground a lot. The most surprising thing to me was due to that ground threat he was actually losing on the stand up exchanges. I'd expect him to be a lot better if he were to go up again though.
I won't compare Pereira with Błachowicz this is what happens when you start to think you are invincible so much that you can move category with same weight. Izzy is going to be much better against Pereira, but people are demanding to see more action in his fights so he must take more risks in this fight. He can't go on with his safe attitude for long as a champion his division. As far as weaknesses go, Adesanya is no match vs Blachowicz. In hind sight because the match was at 205, Adesanya showed that he couldn't bulk up enough to make the full weight... And Blachowicz turned out to be yuuuge. Adesanya almost didn't change his standard weight and any other top light-heavyweight would won that fight, not just Blachowicz. Same thing would happen if Blachowicz would go to heavyweight category to fight Francis Ngannou. |

It's also worth noting that Izzy pretty much dominated until getting knocked out. So, while Alex is definitely a good knockout artist, he probably does get beat convincingly without getting that knockout. Obviously, it doesn't matter if he can continue to find that knock out, but I'm not convinced he can.
We are going to see if Izzy has Achilles' heel or not, but he showed weakness not just against Alex Pereira but also in fight with Jan Błachowicz. His game is great but far from perfect and I think that mental condition will be the key in fight against Pereira. As much as I like Adesanya I think that he can be little cocky sometimes and he can pay the price for this.
