From what I see in the market for now where the price of Bitcoin itself is already in the range of $43K, then in general I can give a little view where the Bitcoin price at the end of this month will be at $45K again and for the beginning of next month it is unlikely that it will straight away at $50K although the potential to go to $50K is very open.  what about the news of rising US interest rates? it happens in the next month, and will most likely have an impact on the crypto market especially bitcoin. even though the technical analysis of the graph shows it will go up, but also pay attention to the supporting fundamental factors. so most likely bitcoin will react the other way around. FED is likely to announce 0.50% interest rate increase in Mid march as per expectations of most of Financial analyst but I think market has already discounted this news and anything above 0.50% or lower may affect stocks and Bitcoin markets. The supporting factor for Bitcoin will be Russian troops pull out from Ukraine which is not likely to happen so soon so Bitcoin will continue trading in a very narrow range. |

I am planning on staking an altcoin to earn kind of an additional income to my salary.
Since I will be putting lots of money to earn a worthwhile return, I'm worried I'll put it in a crypto that won't be relevant in 3-5 years. The safest bet of course is to stake ethereum, but I don't like the indefinite lockup period they got right now. I like the Atom coin, but I'm not sure how to evaluate whether it has strong fundamentals and if it will be relevant in a few years (the top 10 cryptos now are very different from the top 10 a few years ago). Same with MATIC and a few other apparently strong cryptos at the moment.
I know it's impossible to predict the future but what would you folks advise someone in my position?

My expectation for the month of February is quite good and hope monthly closing will be above 47,624 K which is is R2 on weekly chart of Support and resistance, if we don't hear any bad news from Ukraine during the next 2 weeks. I think Avalanche has the potential to be next Ethereum but it might take long time to be immediate competitor of ETH. Although SOLANA is not mentioned in your list but the way its team is putting in hard work to make it a leading chain of crypto space, it can give tough time to Ethereum in coming months. Though its network still faces some technical issues during the congestion which team will certainly resolve soon and once all these issues are resolved, we will not only see it breaking previous ATH but also going much beyond it. Although later the price will drop occasionally and that is only natural because crypto prices often experience rapid increases and decreases. Therefore it seems that the next bitcoin price target will be around $48k within this week.
There will be a lot of ups and downs before we can get to $48,000 at least. It seems that the market has stagnated to $43,000 for this week. Maybe the bulls doesn't have the final push or the market is on a wait and see basis. Usually this happens if we go and try to break a big barrier like $45,000 and then we fail. So we will see if the bullish trend will continue, but I wouldn't be surprised if we are going on a sideways pattern. True. We are used to witness volatility in Bitcoin market that I consider an opportunity to make money by proper risk management and avoiding impulsive decisions. last week Bitcoin was down because of negative news coming from Ukraine but this weeks seems good and most likely we will see closing of weekly candle above 46K. I think it is still $45,000 to broken first, and then we can talk about $46,000 and higher. The Ukraine news seems to be fading away as the market perform very good the start of the week. Hopefully we can close this week with a good rebound and who knows, there could be another shock for us this week. Because as far as TA (RSI strength) is concern, this could be another bull run for us. You are absolutely right that first Bitcoin has to break 45K then we talk about any further upside. My optimistic view is based on positive news coming from Russia about troops pull out from Ukraine. How can Bitcoin's share of emissions can be higher than its share of energy consumption if energy production is just a part of global emissions?
I wouldn't say that Bitcoin mining is exactly harmless for environment, but there's nothing about it inherently harmful, unlike with agriculture or construction - it's just a problem that electricity is still quite dirty, but this is changing quite fast.

The real issue is the use of fossil fuel to produce electricity not the mining of Bitcoin but as you said it is changing quite fast in many countries not only Industries are switching to green energy but also people are using Solar panels for their domestic use and it substantially reduces energy bill. I also got solar panels installed on my roof top of my house and it really helps a lot. I am also thinking to use my solar panels for mining purpose. |

Though Ripple ecosystem is a very fast and it is favorite crypto of bankers becuase transactions are executed within seconds but its performance in the market has been very disappointing. I invested in Ripple back in 2017 and since then it never hit $5 despite strong Bullish market in 2021. It has grossly disappointed its investors and now it is under Lawsuit from SEC and desisted from many big exchanges like Coinbase. I think there is no Alt coin which is totally safe and risk free. Risk is associated with every investment so is with crypto.
