2922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-E hacked - still unfolding on: July 31, 2012, 04:51:57 PM
To be fair, Bitcoinica was never hacked due to a coding error. It seemed to be management and VPS on every occasion.
Probably bitcoinica was never hacked altogether, bitcoinica to me looks like a scam (especially after the "no backup" and the last "money that was on mtgox lost" news) Cheesy
2923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting write up on M-Disc - the DVD that lasts forever on: July 31, 2012, 04:48:08 PM
Yes, i have heard about them but my question is, who will have a dvd reader in 20-30 years?
2924  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HOLY SHIT BTC-E.COM hit $40 per BTC! on: July 31, 2012, 01:11:06 PM
I agree too.

Btw, they had backups, they reverted the trades and they will pay everything, to me it seems BTC-E is facing the problem in the best way. Not like the idiots/scammers of bitcoinica
2925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-E hacked - still unfolding on: July 31, 2012, 01:09:36 PM
Well, BTC-E is doing everything in the correct way. They had backups, they reverted the trades and they will pay for everything.

Hello!
2927  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you do coin transfers as a newbie? on: July 31, 2012, 09:21:24 AM
Mmhh... it seems the guy is a bit confused. To me it seems he think Bitcoin is related to this forum and maybe it's like "you register an account here and you manage bitcoins here"
Well, it's not like that.

Bitcoins are NOT related to this website (they are related to NO website at all), you manage them via the bitcoin client (either the one on bitcoin.org wich will also download the whole blockchain or a light one wich connect to a server instead of getting the whole blockchain)

dev: we do rollback right now
Nice

That's why you make backup, so in case of problems you do a rollback and problem solved. Not like the scammers of bitcoinica that "we have no backups lol"
2929  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happens when you load an old .dat? on: July 30, 2012, 10:52:49 PM
useless keys? spent keys?

no key is "useless" and it will never automatically delete a key! An empty key can still be used as a receiving address, so if you delete it and someone you previously gave that address send you bitcoins to that address, bad bad thing, you don't have the key to use them...

If you have a chest and empty it, you don't trash it, or trash its key  Cheesy it can still be useful...
2930  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New demonstration CPU miner available on: July 30, 2012, 10:28:14 PM
Then it work in the correct way: cpu mining today is useless  Cheesy
2931  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happens when you load an old .dat? on: July 30, 2012, 09:14:40 PM
Wallet.dat just contain your private keys, then the client check the blockchain and check how many bitcoins do these keys have.

(yes it contains more info than that, but what matter are the private keys, the rest are useful things to speed up things if i'm right)
2932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Jackalope Freedom Festival on: July 30, 2012, 03:59:37 PM
Yeah, it's perfectly legit

I'm unsure about how to judge the antivirus, i appreciate that it block that cause it's an automatically started thing wich put my cpu at 100% when i go on that website but... well it isn't a virus or a malware...
2933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "All cryptography is breakable" criticism on: July 30, 2012, 03:56:24 PM
SHA-256 is used by all the world, banks, governments, companies etcetc. If it get broke...well we can easily switch to something else with a client update. Meanwhile the entire world would collapse  Cheesy

2937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your cryptocoins were stolen and you called the police? WTF? Are you serious? on: July 29, 2012, 02:34:32 PM
This article is from more than a year ago lol. Bitcoin is not illegal.
2938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your cryptocoins were stolen and you called the police? WTF? Are you serious? on: July 29, 2012, 02:10:47 PM
People still don't completely understand what cryptocoins are. They were created out of any government control (even against it) but ex-owners of stolen coins expect to get support of a government. But it has no sense!

I wasn't happy to read about recent Bitcoinica hack. Of coz, victims should ask the police for help to return money, but ONLY FIAT MONEY. Noone ought to mention bitcoins, coz every user of cryptocoins should understand that they outside the law. I pay taxes and I don't want them to be spent for salary of a police officer who investigates a case related to cryptocoins.

I don't know English good enough to explain very sophisticated ideas, but I hope u got me.
Nonsense

We pay TAXES wich also serve for the police service. So yes, if someone steal something from you, you should call the police because you know, you pay TAXES for that.

Bitcoins outside the law. Would u call the police if someone stole ur marijuana?
Again, nonsense
marijuana is illegal

bitcoin is NOT illegal
