2921  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2700 GH] BTC Guild - Pure PPS Merged Mining + Stratum Mining + Variable Diff on: October 03, 2012, 01:38:22 AM
Everything is still running smooth.  I am encouraging all users to switch to Stratum still.  The server has been rock solid and hasn't even needed a restart since it was moved to the primary pool.

I will when my mining software supports it.  Not really interested in using the proxy at the moment, although I can see some advantages to it.
2922  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3700 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: October 03, 2012, 01:35:05 AM
Hrm. I`ve got 2 ips - on both lines i can get to the page, but i can only connect my miners from one ip...

Pool rate: 781 Gh/s... i guess it`ll come back to normal again soon.

It's not just me I'm sure. Every time someone gets assigned a new IP they can't use deepbit for 24 hours and that's ok?!

EDIT: now you removed the 46 IP... Why are you adding and removing round robin IP's from the DNS all the time?

I've not had any problems.

Maybe he's changing IP because of being DDoS'd?
2923  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Pool Hopping on: October 03, 2012, 01:31:27 AM
I remember the days when one could go to the pools forum and actually get useful information and status of your pool(s).  Those were the good ol day's.

Maybe this forum should be renamed to something like "misc crap".

I'm not complaining about this particular thread, just griping in general.

version 12.Cool

Does CGMiner support a version with sunglasses?

Now that would make an interesting animated profile pic.

Am I the only one who thinks these "polls" which your "vote" has absolutely no bearing on anything are just plain silly?
2927  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: HELP!!! on: October 01, 2012, 09:51:30 PM
I run one of my hopping proxies on windows - you'll run into the 1024-port limit for any individual process under server 2008 before long.

Server 2008 has a 1024 port limit per process?

How could it be used for a server for any web site in that case?
2928  Other / Off-topic / Re: Getting ready for Jalapeno's on: October 01, 2012, 11:26:34 AM
Most likely BFL will ship the dual USB cable with the unit.

Hopefully it'll have a power jack as well, just in case it's needed.  Kind of like USB hub's, they have a power jack and sometimes a power supply.  Most of the time you don't need it, but sometimes you do.
2929  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Questions about BFL - BitForce Jalapeno on: October 01, 2012, 10:41:13 AM
Alrighty, pool mining it is!

Btw, thought of something else,i´m assuming the jalapeno is gonna be a USB connected device to my PC, since i have 2.0 USB interface on my laptop, is there gonna be any bandwidth limitations? with other words will i be able to use all the full 4.5GH/s power of the device?

And, how hard is it gonna be to configure it, if you look at previous devices? Does it have its own OS, or is just considered a external device u can select in the mining tool you use?

Be sure to let us know when you find out.
2930  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Curious - Why do regular miners still mine proportional pools? on: October 01, 2012, 09:59:42 AM
I really don't mind where people mine, I'm just curious if it is lack of knowledge, lack of care about income or just what Smiley

Easy to verify.
2931  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Questions about BFL - BitForce Jalapeno on: October 01, 2012, 12:05:42 AM
I´m just getting into the mining game, just preordered the jalapeno:)

Can anyone make a educated guess if the 4.5GH/s machine is gonna be enough for solomining, atleast for the first weeks/months it comes out?
Not expecting any big returns, just hope i can break even in a couple of months or so:P

Woundering if its gonna be "stackable" aswell?

Well, since it is a low power draw type of device, relatively speaking, you can afford to have it mine for years at a time without thinking about.  So one may as well solo mine.

Because it comes so natural, if I had to guess.

It probably contains 1.2g of unobtainium

If that were possible it would have to renamed to obtainium, and we all know that is worthless.

Still think that was a stupid cliche of a movie.

A good compression/archival program is not exactly a special piece of software.  If it is too difficult for you maybe you should just turn your computer off and take it back to Wal-Mart.

Seems pretty special to me, What use would a mining rig have for it otherwise? Installing it on your main pc is one thing. If your trying to convince me that installing a secondary program on numerous pc's, to save a 3mb download is a good deal. Give it a rest.

Why would you need to do that?  Can't download to the file server, extract it, then copy it to other machines on the LAN?

Resting,
Sam

Are you kidding me?

It makes sense because it creates an archive 1/3 the size of a .zip file.  Enough said.

It's about half the size, either way it's a one second download.

It's not as much about your download time as it is about the storage space that the author has to pay for.

2936  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: What is better Ozcoin or Eclipse on: September 29, 2012, 06:01:42 PM
i recently joined Ozcoin and left because of the 3% forced fee and joined eclipse because the fee is 0%

and they both use the same payout (DGM)

so can anyone tell me should i mine at Eclipse or go back to Ozcoin

Which pool gets you the best return?  Which one gives the best service to you?  There may be other things more important to you.  Anyway its your choice.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Installing a special compression software for no purpose, is a waste of time. While I appreciate your efforts, I don't owe you anything. If your looking for compensation put a remote access app in the app store or something. Jumping through hoops just to satisfy someones ego is not on my agenda. It might make sense, if you gained something by using it.

Are you talking about the SpinRite guy Steve Gibson?  I have heard him talking about Bitcoin on Security Now on the TWiT network.  I don't think he checks his e-mail though. I think he would be a good candidate to report on the status of BFL ASIC!

http://www.grc.com/stevegibson.htm

Yep, that's the one.  That BFL_Josh dude wanted someone reputable to visit the factory.  First I thought of myself, then reality set in, so I suggested Steve as he is the only reputable person I know of in the bitcoin community. Smiley
Sam

Edit: added smiley

He would probably do more bitcoin promoting again on TWiT if he went too. Get more people using it and drive the price up!

Leo wouldn't like that.  Would have to wait for him to go on vacation again.
2939  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Which Payment Method Is BEST? on: September 28, 2012, 10:11:54 AM
i have a 100MH card a 6670 so which payment method will give me the most amount of BTC?

At that low of a has rate I would recommend using PPS.

why PPS.

i am currently using DGM on Eclipse Pool.

first i joined Ozcoin and i left Ozcoin because of the 3% forced fee and joined Eclipse because they have a 0% and using the DGM payout.

anyone has a better pool.

With a low hash rate GPU your not as likely to get many shares in a short round.  With PPS you get a flat rate for every share.  But with DGM it tends to come out OK over time so as long as you mine consistently for a long period of time that should work out well too.

Sounds like you made your choice of payout method.
Have fun,
Sam

Any thoughts on why I would be crashing mining litecoin though trying to get the same hashrate? Its beyond me Smiley

-Ryan

Don't know nothing about lightcoin.  But I thought copycat coins hashed at different rates than bitcoin?

I would drop the memclock on your dedicated card to around 250-300Mhz for bitcoin.
