2921  Economy / Economics / Re: Dealing with tax and crypto ban on: February 17, 2022, 08:43:10 PM
But I heard that many people from that country are happy because they said that the tax is better than the ban. Because majority of them are either software developers or other freelancers and they do not invest from their own pocket. They do work for other and they get 70% for themselves and 30% is given to the government in tax. It is my Idea and if this is the case then I think they are still in benefit.

Making it legal is an advantage to holders but hell no, 30% is too much, maybe my environment is making me hard to digest and accept that figure because I can't pay $30,000 as a tax from $100,000 profits, that's too big.

I've read several tax recommendations and a particular one from coingecko[1] on how US citizen pay their crypto taxes, but I've yet to see someone who pays 30% tax from their crypto wages.
You will have to pay tax for investing in cryptocurrency when you sell them, and there are other ways to pay tax when you are involved in cryptos, such as selling free coins you receive via fork coins, defi, and staking, and receiving a gift in the form of crypto when it is greater than the sum of $15,000.

In my opinion something is fishy here, assuming he is using a popular e-mail provider like Google, it should be relatively easy to re-gain access to it if it is associated to a cell number, security key or Authy.

Do you mean the same Google where a single mobile phone number can routinely be used to create tens to hundreds of Gmail accounts? If the OP has joined his Gmail account with a phone number that is not his, the account is no longer will be hard to retrieve, and the chances of him having that account back is slim, my friend.

Quote
In the worst case it may take a couple of days and even deal with some Google costumer support, but still doable, I believe.

Account recovery without an original key or a cell phone number will be a waste of time and effort, and support will do nothing since they may believe it's an impostor, just like everyone else does right now.
2924  Other / Meta / Re: Undo Button on: February 17, 2022, 07:37:15 PM
I was thinking that if this forum lacks an Undo button. Sometimes we may delete the post by mistake and need to un-delete that post. As per my knowledge, there is no way that action can be reverted and the post could not be restored.

Don't we need something as a "undo" button for this scenario?

Good suggestion, but the possibility of getting that on the current software is slim, especially since the forum's new software is already in development. Maybe you can move or suggest the same thing in the >>New forum software<<. The suggestions here wouldn't solve the deleted post, using the alternative Archive feature of Ninjastic and Loycev to recover your comment would change everything about your post ID and other information.
2925  Economy / Economics / Re: Canada to freeze Freedom Convoy Protestors bank accounts... on: February 16, 2022, 11:28:18 PM
I'd have to say Bitcoin is to be thanked for putting an end to this type of restriction. Tallycoin collected the second funding for Canadian trucks, as I posted in my previous thread on Bitcoin a true censorship resistance, Tallycoin raised funds for Canadian trucks. I was following the updates and every goal raised funds that were smashed, but they kept increasing the goal, and at a point, I stopped updating the amount, but I believe they raised about 2,100,000,000 sats the last time I checked, but some small sats donations were still coming in.
I just checked the page where the funds were raised, but it was gone, I'm not sure why but Gofundme has lost not just its user base, but also the community's confidence, and it's only a matter of time before they are replaced.

The Protesters and donators have a right to sue Gofundme and the banks, similar thing happened in my country during the Endsars protest when some donations were made to support against killings of youth and the court ruled in their favor.
2926  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how to trade btc without kyc on: February 16, 2022, 10:54:22 PM
I've tried trading with Kucoin and so far, they don't ask for KYC but as for me, KYC shouldn't be a problem because most exchange as it for our own good as well. Most reputable and trusted exchanges these days are asking for KYC which is acceptable and reasonable. I guess the best thing that we should look for in exchange is their reputation and not those who don't ask for KYC.

I fear exchanges that are centralized because of this KYC, they may not ask you for identification at the start but what happens when the market favors you and you had a million in your exchange wallet? what do you think will happen when you want to withdraw out that big sum of stash, they will want to play the victim and hide and seek games, I don't trust any exchange with free KYC, sooner or later they will ask for it.

It depends on the country you are residing for KYC requirements. Maybe your country is not that strict in terms of online exchange regulation. Sooner or later everyone will be required to undergo KYC as it a must for an exchange to maintain there license and business permit. KYC serves as protection too in case someone hack your account so that you can recover it.

Yeah, Reputation is the most  important things to be considered when dealing on exchange but honestly most of the CEX especially those well known are less risky compared before.

Reputation is one thing and regulation is a different thing, US traders, for example, were forced to use Binance(dot)us but the same are freely trading on Kucoin without even KYC, by the time Kucoin get the recognition and volumes Binance has managed to hold for the years, they will be forced to KYC their customer or specifically open a US Kucoin and not just US alone, some other developed countries will want a regulation.

Every crime has a statute of limitations. And I think you can’t judge so harshly for the mistakes made 5 years ago. I admit my mistakes, but they were made not intentionally, but out of inexperience. I don’t deny my guilt. I will be very sorry to leave the forum on such a note legendary status. But alas .... Not all dreams come true.

Are you aware that you can go to jail for plagiarising content and using another person's material?

Quote
Most cases of plagiarism are considered misdemeanors, punishable by fines of anywhere between $100 and $50,000 — and up to one year in jail. Plagiarism can also be considered a felony under certain state and federal laws. For example, if a plagiarist copies and earns more than $2,500 from copyrighted material, he or she may face up to $250,000 in fines and up to ten years in jail.

Source: https://www.ithenticate.com/plagiarism-detection-blog/bid/52974/Plagiarism-Punishment

In some academic settings, you will get dropped out or suspended for plagiarising material, the rules are still the same to date, 5 years doesn't change the default rules for bitcointalk as well, and to say it's even a local language that you should have easily squiz together but you copy word by word.
2928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One Remarkable thing about Bitcoin on: February 16, 2022, 10:02:44 PM
Why should this be your concern
A new technology is launched and is creping into our financial institution gradually it might not necessarily replace the fiat currency but one this I am excited about is that on the long run it will spring up innovations to improve on the centralization issues and still give more edge to bitcoin adoption either as a technology, a currency, an asset or a network which ever way Bitcoin will get more adoption. cheers!!

If the government were satoshi, believe me when I say that they would have allowed the use of bitcoin and made it highly centralized for themselves and the wealthy, with the poor man as a weak vessel in search of a few satoshi. Who knows if every government from different countries would want to have their own coin (just like other failed shitcoins we've had) and have everything sum up as the world market cap.
We have improved mining machines technologically, with more power efficiency and lightning network, adoption has already scored in, and they are still denying the facts that bitcoin is a currency that does not discriminate between men and boys, it is expected that they wouldn't give up and admit, but I believe more widespread used is what is required to beat every centralized system.
2929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Central bank and it ignorance on Bitcoin on: February 16, 2022, 09:32:01 PM
Bitcoin as a digital decentralized currency have been widely criticized by many banks and other financial monolithic characters who have been on for front of global financial system, the latest being the call of central banks governors to the EU for the total ban of bitcoin mining and trading ,this also came a week after the Rusia central bank governor advised the President against cryptocurrency adoption.
when you are working so hard to appreciate your pay master, you will want to do anything to satisfy them including their ego so that the check will keep piling up and you wouldn't do anything that will affect their growth and system, they brought him (central governors) and he will want to properly(foolishly) satisfy them even when he is sight-seeing the truth in his head.

Quote
This have proven to a large extent the political undertone as regards to the central banks position on compartitors such as bitcoin having the capacity to transform the economy of a nation, state or region as a whole, what are the possibilities of central banks governors winning the war against the decentralized finances or will the central banks looses it relevancy when Bitcoin finally become a global currency.

War? Ironically right! I have never seen a bitcoiner wanting a war with the central bank, all we are asking is to let them allow us to use bitcoin as the true currency but I guess they are afraid because of the energy that surrounded Bitcoin, it will overtake them because they fear revolution.
2930  Economy / Economics / Re: Economics on: February 16, 2022, 09:11:57 PM
A lot of countries are releasing/ contemplating to release their own digital currencies. EU is contemplating digital euro, Jamaica is thinking of digital Jamaican dollar.. India has already launched digital rupee..
How these currencies will affect the bitcoin/crypto ecosystem?

There will be no impact on bitcoin, it will continue to serve the same purpose it has for the previous 60 years (decrease in purchasing power) with all the massive printing.
I was so determined to see how my country's digital currency (Enaira) would go when at the first launch, the download and ratings were low and was taken down but came back again and after some weeks, and today, it's one of the failed projects my country has launched last year. The low rating, review, and dissatisfaction were so much.
2931  Economy / Economics / Re: Dealing with tax and crypto ban on: February 16, 2022, 12:03:18 PM
I'm not sure if collecting taxes on bitcoin just because it encourages adoption and allows various nations to keep bitcoin, but in this case, I'd like my country to remain tax-neutral (not legal and not illegal but a choice) on this issue. I understand that paying taxes as a citizen of a country is usual, but why are they treating bonds and stocks differently when you cash out? A 30% tax on capital gain or loss is so large that you are practically paying back what you have made on an investment.

You're straining to get your bags to pump and the government is waiting to utilize your sweet tax to fund the national budget. I wouldn't mention the transaction fees.  Cry

I'm not sure if that address is valid, the maximum of 34 and 26 minimum in length I have seen.
Try and search it on any explorer and see for your self if it's valid

Uhuh! I thought OP was talking about an address.

I currently have the option to lock this account via the link the forum sent to my email. But I don't know how the next process will be because all the bitcoin addresses that I have used I can't access. Do you have a solution for me?

I doubt if that option will still work, the email and password have been successfully switched, that will be impossible to change now.

I've used several wallets, but now I can't access any of them because my phone has been broken for a long time. I only have the email I used when registering this account to the forum, this is probably the only option I have at the moment as I can't access the wallet.

From Ninjastic, you have used two bitcoin addresses, try and locate any of the keys and sign a message else your chances are slim.

It is example on the risk of using block explorers without Tor. They collect data and you will know what will happen with the block explorer company/ owner and what is sort of new feature they might integrate in the future.

I found this in their privacy policies.

Blockchair does not collect personal data or share it with third parties. We don't track you.

2936  Other / Beginners & Help / Blockchair explorer extension for tracking of Wallet addresses on any Website on: February 12, 2022, 10:08:45 PM
While I was surfing through [Guide] Using Blockchain Explorers I decided to explore some of the services of Blochair explorer. I installed their extension since it supports an anonymous tracking portfolio, and I must say that the explorer is very cool in the sense that it can easily detect 19 addresses of different blockchains on every web you are on, it can easily pop the blockchair Icon on every address, and a single click on any address opens a tab and searches for the content in that address.
It supports up to 19 different blockchains of major coins such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, BSC, Polkadot, Solana, and other popular blockchains.

You can manage the extension by enabling/disabling the change of all your data on websites. Depending on when you want it to detect addresses on the website and you could also enable just for bitcointalk website or enable the extension to work on all websites.

The view of every addresses that you see on bitcointalk after installing blockchair explorer extension.

Disclaimer: I don't know how safe the extension is since I couldn't verify whether it's open/closed source, use it at your own risk.
2937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: About USDT on: February 12, 2022, 06:59:22 PM
Certik is nothing more than a smart contract reviewer. Projects provide them with their source code of written smart contracts so that they can be reviewed for any vulnerabilities or future failures. This gives investors and the general public more confidence in their investments, but it shouldn't be used as investment advice because anything other than smart contract failure could occur, such as the team running off with the funds raised.

Usdt is a company that has been dragged for a long time, even before Certik was founded. They've been charged and investigated in the past for not being transparent with the equivalent pegged fiat deposit for each USDT and bitcoin price manipulation. With USDT as centralized stable coin, they can freeze your money any time especially when they don't find you transparent. (According to their ways)

As a newbie I kinda like investing in projects that are audited atleast so back to my question.

Just a friendly disclaimer, you should check.
2938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About Snooker Game on: February 12, 2022, 09:48:30 AM
I have hardly seen people discussed about Snooker unlike other games, mostly discussion about Football, Table tennis, poker much others.

my passion for Snooker all started when i was very little then, i follows my uncle to some joint where they plays over it but since i was very tender i never knew it was all for gambling. Anytime i sets eyes on snooker it keeps the memory awakes so gradually i picked interest about it. i can be liken to gamble over it.

please more discussion about snooker can be detailed here if you have any. i really want to gain more knowledge.

The memories never fade. I recall using my feeding money to bet because I wanted to hang out with the big boys. Snooker is a great way to spend time with friends and family. You can install a table in your home and play whenever they come over.
Snooker has not captured the attention of people as other sports have over the years, despite the prize of 500,000 Euro, which is a large sum to attract attention from all over the world.
I searched for the breakdown, and this is what I discovered for the Snooker Championship prize.

2939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion Thread || Current discussion: AFCON - Finals. on: February 12, 2022, 07:20:00 AM
Every game could be "luck", even if you have the greatest team in the entire world, some luck wouldn't hurt. Considering Nigeria didn't really play all that well, and Tunisia played their usual self, it was expected to have a result like this. The best version of Nigerian team could easily beat Tunisia, we have seen them be awesome many many times, but sometimes teams just do not their best.

This could be considered as a way to gain experience and sometimes even the best teams have bad games and this was one of them for Nigeria and nothing more. Obviously if they played 10 games, I would wager Nigeria to be winners 5+ times. Tunisia also played with the similar roster for a while now and this allowed them to be a lot better than expected, having the same tactics with the same players is not something national teams get to do too frequently.

The game wasn't fair and not in our favour when super eagles played 10 players against 11 player and ended the game with 0-1 isn't really bad.
Alex was one of the top player that Nigeria depended on as a midfielder but unintentionally got a red card in the first 6 minutes of the game and the whole player became off balanced. Thanks to Okoye, the Nigerian Basket goalkeeper Undecided is just a no no for me with his style of jumping and handling balls.
Give Nigeria another chance Tunisia, we will show them what eagles are capable of doing under no pressure.
2940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the most important features of an online crypto casino? on: February 11, 2022, 03:47:23 PM
So you take note - In the pool, you said we can choose up to 5, but the pool actually doesn't allow selection of more than 1 option.

We are limited to option selection, Op would have gotten a straightforward answer in %.

Quote
If the pool allowed selection of more than 1 options, ones I would have chosen are below -

1. Payout speed - this is very important for any genuine casino (not just a crypto casino)

I think speed is an element that depends on the user's network. If I initiate a withdrawal in Casino A using Bitcoin and the network becomes heavy in processing transactions, I have to wait or choose another payment method.

Quote
2. Withdrawal limits - this is also very important, a good casino will allow withdrawal of the smallest amount as long as its enough that  the withdrawal fees has been deducted, there is still something left to send to the user's wallet.
This may also depend on the type of network. If a casino make a minimum of $3 and you want it to be withdrawn in BTC, that may be impossible but maybe over in Ripple or Tron.

Quote
4. Variety of cryptocurrencies - this specific to crypto casinos, crypto casinos as the name implies should have different types of cryptocurrencies to which users can deposit to and withdraw from the platform with.

I will want to see Fiat deposit and withdrawal also.

Quote
5. Responsiveness to Complaints - alot of platforms, not just casinos are lacking in this aspect, and it is one of the most important, there are alot of newbies in this space and they all need help from time to time, how fast a casino responds to thier customers queries wil determine how ready and serious they are for and with their business.

Having support on social media will be helpful, they facilitate tickets to the person in charge when platform support is playing hard to help.

snip

Can you include No KYC, it is an important feature that shouldn't be ignored.
