Depending on the design choices of a given device, it may be possible to remove the purpose-built hashing core and replace it with a core tailored for an algorithm used in another purpose.

Actually no, at least with the BFL miners. Their choice of using a BGA package pretty much excludes being able to remove/replace the chip. At least at reasonable cost/reliability.

This is like worrying about people not recycling beer bottle tops.

As well they shouldn't. After all those will be the main currency after all out thermonuclear war.
2923  Economy / Goods / Re: NEW! BTC course widget for free on: March 17, 2013, 01:38:54 PM
Your use of "course" makes you sound suspiciously German.  Cheesy

You want to use "rate". "course" doesn't really work as a translation for "Kurs" in the context of markets.
2924  Economy / Lending / Re: Goodbye all on: March 17, 2013, 01:27:53 PM
Well, I told you before you're the best scammer detector on the forums.  Wink
This is funny, care to share what other investments you have made? Just kidding Wink

I'd actually prefer it if squall stayed on the forums, but instead of lending he would announce in a lending thread: "This is someone I'd consider lending to" and then we'd all know to tomatocage the guy asking for the loan.  Cheesy Cheesy

2928  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL releases pictures of their supposed ASIC chips on: March 17, 2013, 12:29:25 PM

I will not comment further here or speculate about what the obvious differences might mean.  I think those that have investments at play here ought to have some thoughts.  But I am done.

C'mon man out with it, don't be a CT!!!!  You've been hinting at something a couple of times now and I for one am curious and would like to hear your speculation, please.

Here's a hint. GIS for how NAND Flash Memory wafers look like.
2929  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Luke Jr. @ BFL on: March 17, 2013, 12:17:59 PM
You're slipping! You missed an opportunity to coin a new word. Care to play again?

Do I really have to state the obvious? Butt Full of Lies?

I think he was referring to Inaba-Ill-Ity

Where's the pc board diagram scheme?

You should probably read the thread instead of skimming it looking for PCB pics.

I read it, I can't start manufacturing process of pc boards using their new chips without a diagram.

You should probably read the thread.

If you are interested in partnering with us, contact me helveticoin at gmail dot com and please provide some information to help us judge your ability to integrate our chip in a consumer product. Large scale mining operations are also welcome to inquire, but do realize you will face non trivial technical challenges and costs to develop a functional miner,  and we will require minimum quantities. Technical and financial details will be provided under NDA only.

Please raise the bar for posting in Lending/Goods/Currency Exchange.

Maybe even prohibit exchange deals in Newbies.

Can we get rid of kijimo's confidence loans while we're at it? He and his poker friends are spamming the lending forum with their crapshoots. They're not even dealing in BTC.

Isn't Luke Jr. at BFL today?

And Luke entered the temple and drove out all those who were mining and crafting in the temple, and overturned the benches of the assemblers and the seats of those who were selling butterflies.

2940  Economy / Services / Re: How to extract Caffeine from TEA ect? on: March 15, 2013, 11:43:01 AM
Yeah, at this point the question is really what's your intention with that extraction. Because really you'd have to go ahead and get rid of tannin and other polyphenols and all that other phytopharmaceutical gunk in there to arrive at a few mgs of reasonably "pure" levels of caffeine for hours of work.

At the same time you can just go get yourself a kilogram bucket of pharmaceutical grade pure caffeine synthesized from urea for 40 bucks on ebay.
