2929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is CHINA CONTROLLING Bitcoin? on: March 26, 2017, 12:23:38 PM
If the Chinese miners were unified and collaborative in their approach, then they could theoretically gain control over the blockchain and thus Bitcoin.

However, in the real world what would probably happen is the core devs would code and release an update that would checkpoint the Chinese 'attack' and return control of the chain back to the economic majority (aka banks/coinbase/blockstream)

I don't quite understand what you mean by "economic majority"

Care to explain? Apart from that, we don't know how many Chinese miners the Chinese pools actually consist of. Some of them are obviously not mining pools but rather mining farms and those the Chinese government can indeed take control over. But if the pools are actually made up from many individual miners, these miners could potentially withdraw their mining resources from the pools, thereby essentially rendering them impotent. Personally, I'm more inclined to think that the rumors of the Chinese government preparing a 51% attack against Bitcoin network are just another round of FUD. At first, it was the Winklevoss FUD, then the BU FUD, and now the 51% attack FUD
Most of the Chinese bitcoin pools consist of companies who are establishing and dumping a lot of money into servers and mining farms and as it is proving to be very profitable since the kwh costs only 8 cents in china more and more companies regular people invest into it, so it I s not surprising to find that the Chinese dominate the bitcoin mining market and if anything happens to that concept like change in the electricity price than we will see effects on the bitcoin exchanges

Electricity costs are important but China is not the only country out there with cheap electricity tariffs

It looks more like their main advantage stems from their first-hand access to mining hardware. There have been rumors that behind some mining pools asic manufacturers are hiding, so it shouldn't surprise anyone they have such an edge. But they are said to be nearing a technological limit already, therefore this advantage is going to diminish soon. It is the same as with CPUs today, the frequencies of processors are no longer growing since it is impossible to overcome physical limits. The bottom line is that the competition between miners should increase once there will be no more growth in the hash rates per hardware unit
Why do not you consider the question that the Chinese government can be very interested in income using bitcoins and thus their farms are provided with free electricity. And if you take into account the increased interest in alternative energy sources, the process of mining bitcoin is even better.
yes that is right to say, China is the biggest support of bitcoin and the majority of bitcoin users are from China, i think their government is also taking interest in bitcoin .
Yes, China is biggest supporter of bitcoin but I don't the Chinese government are that much interested in bitcoin because they are interested in their own interest which is making the Yuan gain it value back and in other for them to achieve their goals they have to regulate bitcoin because they believe bitcoin had something to do with the Yuan loosing value.
2930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin overcome Paypal? on: March 26, 2017, 11:56:00 AM
It wouldnt overcome but it will hild a strong preferences in currency spending. People usually pay for btc with paypal at preev rate of 5-15% due to chargeback. Paypal is just having a really huge issue for the chargeback. Even the hard fork issue may came soon, yet i guess btc is still more realible to sent and receive as a payment
Hardfork is not an issue to be compared to the paypal process Tongue it is an update to the block size and if it is done carefully then there is no issue and there wont be a split in the block chain and everything will be smooth, paypal always had the charge back issue and paypal is not a currency but bitcoin is.
Yes,bitcoin is a currency while paypal is a means of making payment for goods and services online or transfering funds online. If check what the OP said he/she was talking about the total population of people which will use either paypal or bitcoin as terms of payment in the future.

2932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin overcome Paypal? on: March 25, 2017, 03:00:09 AM
Yes. Apart from the good features which the bitcoiners can gain from OpenBazaar, bitcoiners can gain more of good features from the https://paybis.com/ through their current offer which also give bitcoin a huge possibility to overcome paypal/ebay in the future. Nevertheless, something need to be done with this hike in transaction fees because it  maybe one of the only thing that could hinder that top spot of bitcoin in the future.

Yes. Bitcoin needs to lower its transaction fees, otherwise it would not become mainstream anytime soon. So far, Bitcoin has a lot to improve for it to become used for everyday payments, but I believe that as time goes by, the cryptocurrency will mature and rival traditional payment methods. Right now, the pioneer cryptocurrency has been facing with scalability issues, but once they're solved, it will pave the way towards massive increase in its price, as well as becoming a mainstream cryptocurrency.

As for Bitcoin's price, it has been declining massively, probably because of the fears of it being forked, among other things. But in the bright side, Bitcoin is becoming cheaper for others to invest into it for the long term.

Nevertheless, it would be hard to say if Bitcoin will overcome PayPal at all, as its future is uncertain. Just my opinion.  Smiley
That's correct and the drama happening concern the debate over scaling/blocksize,bitcoin hard fork and possible blockchain split need to be put in consideration in other to make bitcoin to the mainstream of online payment/ crypto currency.
2933  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can the price of bitcoin still skyrocket on: March 25, 2017, 02:42:31 AM
Depends on your definition of 'skyrocket.'  Grin

If it's like 1000% increase in the price then it's impossible.
What I'm trying to say is there's a lot of up and down in price of bitcoin this year and the prediction made last year was the price will reach $2100 level. Can we still achieve the price of $2100 per bitcoin due to the obstacles bitcoin is facing there and there.

The debate over scaling and blocksize have festered for too long. I expect they will be sorted out this year. Once the capacity of the BTC network improves, I think the price will skyrocket. $2100 looks achievable once the scaling debate/hard fork controversy dies down.  Smiley
Well, I think we ought to have achieve the $2100 per bitcoin by now and that is if the people planning to invest the retirement into bitcoin take the bold steps. To my own knowledge the main things that seriously depress them from doing the invest or adopt bitcoin was the issues of the bitcoin hard fork/blockchain split and the increase in transaction fees which causes a lot of panic sell going on lately.
2934  Economy / Economics / Re: Where did you first heard about Bitcoins? on: March 25, 2017, 02:06:44 AM
The every first time I heard about bitcoin was through a poster posted on the street tagged we sell bitcoin and that was back in the year 2012. How I wish I have more knowledge about bitcoin worth that time and I would have earn a lot through bitcoin comparing the price per bitcoin that time with the current price.
2935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In what situation would Bitcoin die? on: March 25, 2017, 01:55:48 AM
How and why would the end of bitcoin (and any other cryptocurrency) occur? Value decrease? Legality issues? Different technology/ideas to supersede it?
I think Bitcoin will dead if every country decides to ban Bitcoin permanently, then,no demand, no users, no transactions. This is the most direct reason.Of course, I don't want this day to come.

I really doubt that "every" country will decide to ban bitcoins permanently. There will always be a country that will choose to not follow the trend and decide by himself. Just think about it, if every single country has banned bitcoins except you, then all of the exchange sites will be based on your country. Thus, you will earn all of the tax that every country used to earn from exchange sites.

Let's say that hypothetically all countries decide to ban bitcoins. People will just do person-to-person trading and bitcoin will be seen as purely a black market. Seriously, tons of things are banned in this world but how come people are still doing it as if it's not against the law at all.
Yes, all counties can not ban bitcoin. I don't even see that happen, the cannabis merchant, hotel, cafe etc are now accepting bitcoin. Besides, a lot of people are thanking  bitcoin and only a heartless government will hurt the heart of common man which were earning some USD through bitcoin.
2936  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 25, 2017, 01:43:22 AM

Concerning the chart there a lot of panic sell going on and I think this is another chance to buy more bitcoin now because the price will rise back when it March 30 which happen to be the day of hearing the decision made by SEC concern Bats exchange petition for review of order disapproving of bitcoin ETFm

2938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin overcome Paypal? on: March 24, 2017, 05:16:46 PM
I don't think so, users bitcoin needs Paypal for buy bitcoin and convert fiat currency to digital currency,
bitcoin is long away become currency be used for payment transaction
bitcoin and Paypal will be good become best friends for making transaction.  Grin
I think the future will not be too dependent bitcoin with paypal. users can directly convert bitcoin bitcoin them without the help of paypal. for now I think bitcoin still not overcome paypal yet
Yes users of  bitcoin are not depend on Paypal at least those who doesn't use Paypal,
but the users of bitcoin who use Paypal they need exchange fiat money in Paypal to bitcoin
or bitcoin to fiat money in Paypal, so there is currency exchange section on bitcointalk
and today there is https://paybis.com/ for exchanging.
Yes. 2939  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell or wait? on: March 24, 2017, 11:55:41 AM
Just hold, don't sell unless it's necessary. With this wholew ETF story some people have begun to panic and sell but without reason. We have witnessed some minor dump or better to say correction but Bitcoin price is on the way up again so you will profit the most by holding coins.
That's the problem of bitcoin investors , most of them are scared when the price even drops 20$ thinking that bitcoin is over and the price is failing but they don't understand there will surely be dumps in an investment like this. Plus that freakin china is simply creating more tension among the investors.
Yes,I guess you're right about the Chinese government trying to make people panic sell and they are trying to make their believe in their Yuan because they believe bitcoin had something to do with Yuan loosing value and it good for we bitcoiners that we have a lot of new organisation, community, state etc. Believing in bitcoin but something must be done with the increase in bitcoin transaction fees.

In my opinion its better to sell a part of investment and hold another part. With the hard fork / segwit battle, its difficult to know what the price will do, i suppose that if we had a fork with two chains prices will go down. But on long time, i think that we will have higher prices in one or two years.

In the long run the price won't be much affected, but in the short term this potential fork can turn out to drive the price down to possibly sub $500 levels. In that regard, it wouldn't hurt to liquidate some of your Bitcoin holdings to have a good sum of fiat aside for when the price reaches such low levels. Traders always prepare themselves for every possible scenario, and this whole fork situation is definitely not an exception.

I think it is better to sell some bitcoin to buy the good altcoins. When things are settled, buy back the bitcoin.

Right now it is too late as most of the good coins have gone up and Bitcoin price is also below $1100 so it is better now to wait for some time till the hardfork is cleared.
Trading of altcoin is good and bad sometime just like doing business in the real world because most of the altcoin you see that gain some increase in price can loose their strength in a snap of fingers. But you still want to invest in altcoin will advice to invest in some altcoin which as exist for a long run.
2940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In what situation would Bitcoin die? on: March 23, 2017, 03:04:05 AM
If the transactions will be slower and slower and if that happens then it means that the miners are getting few and the foundation of the network will be weaker and weaker and that will be the start for bitcoin to die because there nothing who supports bitcoin and maybe bitcoin users will transfer to another and better coin.
Yeah. You're right but it not only if the transaction are slower could make bitcoin die. Electricity is the main thing that could quench bitcoin because almost every part of the crypto currency world base on electricity including the block chain either

Transaction and Electricity will not make bitcoin die. There are lots of problems about the transaction of bitcoin getting slower and slower thanks to the people who spam transactions.
Electricity? well it is correct, but I think there will be no electrical problems here. Bills will be a problem but electricity itself?  no.

Ok but the issue with the high transaction fees could be a treat/problem because this will not impress common man the adoption of bitcoin and if you check the price per bitcoin now is at $1029. I guess this is because of the transaction fees and coinbase were thinking of stopping the act of no transaction fee.
