2941  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project: Sewing machine BITCOIN on: February 14, 2023, 01:35:46 AM
Thanks, but I prefer Bitcoin ( no fiat money), because Bitcoin is the idea of absolute freedom!
No argument there. Still, you got to eat, pay your bills, and probably have mouths to feed. Those things can't wait. If you struggle to sell for crypto, you change and use a different strategy. If your goal is to increase your bitcoin stash, you can always buy it with whatever money is left after you have taken care of the essential expenses in life.

I agree, but everything in life I can do with Bitcoin! Wink

Is the forum the only place you have this donation posted? they are other bitcoin communities including this forum where people can throw funds to help you bounce back to your work. What matters is the samples you have provided and the proofs of owning and learning these fantastic arts. Hit up some influencers on twitter to share your work and aswell go for bitcoin reddit groups to boost visibility. Keep trying and stay active on the different communities things could change for good, and people will start helping out. Unless you want to stick only on bitcointalk then it's your decision, but don't underestimate other communities in times of trial.
2942  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Thinking of separating my holdings into two physical locations. on: February 14, 2023, 01:16:28 AM
If we apply it in crypto, we know that data in a hard wallet is important to access our holdings, so if the hard wallet is destroyed due to fire or food, that means we also lose our funds.
The device itself is just a means to get to your crypto. It's not that important. It's the seed backup that is the main worry. One piece of software or hardware can easily be exchanged for something similar but the lost seed words are irreplaceable (if no other backups exist).

So, how would you resist a $5 wrench attack? Willpower?
Completely removing the ability to give thieves a part of your bitcoin holdings isn't the smartest way to go about it. Would you rather die and have parts of your body chopped off, or give the thieves an already prepared amount of BTC that isn't passphrase-protected? You are not going to have much pleasure with your bitcoin if you are blind or deaf from the beating you took. Not to mention the guilt that could be eating at you if something happened to your family members because you didn't have what the robbers wanted.

Most of the things we worry about 99 percent of the times don't happen, OP and everyone else should take the necessary precautions of securing their bitcoin rather than worrying about getting beaten up by thieves. It's a weird thought and could lead to unnecessary panic even when nobody has the intention of attacking us. Separating his bitcoin in different locations can help in situations like emergency, offering his loved ones help when on vacation or traveled for something else they can be instructed to access the little amount of bitcoin kept in the room to solve a money related problem till he is back. Things like that can help ease the mind instead of worrying about fire and floods.
2943  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Logo imperfection on: February 14, 2023, 12:31:45 AM
Since it requires intense supervision to notice the mistake then it's not much a problem. People have been using the bitcoin logo without complaining, so the slight error is not enough to raise an alarm. Interesting how anything about bitcoin make it to the news blogs. Between I thought bitboy is same with the popular youtuber bitboy, but the article states otherwise.
2944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do casino and sports betting platform owners gamble as much as other people? on: February 13, 2023, 02:35:44 PM
Based on the story podcast on my local youtube with a former people who work in-casino (Thailand).

I don't think the top people who have some position like leader especially owner/ceo or other top position is gonna to gamble on their casino. But the one who are gambler to their casino is their employee.

It's common things, while people who working on casino are gambler as well. Sad to hear this, but casino/landbase should make some rules (All of the employee cannot betting to their casino, avoiding the payment check is back to them again).

Like "Ferarri" rules to their employee, they don't want the money they're pay are going back again to their company by buying the car.

I don't think this is right, those working in casino, not all know a thing about gambling. The croupiers are there to set things up or make arrangements for live games. Seeing them as gamblers can be wrong because most of them don't gamble and the CEO won't need such as it can ruin their business. The employees won't be serious with the business. Even in real casinos players always get disappointed with the void answers casino workers give to their questions, showing that they know nothing about how a machine works or the bonus a machine pays out. In addition, the few who gamble may not be allowed to play in the same casino where they work.

seem logical for casino to have rules like that. not allowing thier employees to gamble after all who knows best about gambling addiction but the casino's head office? they know this like the back of thier hands and they don't wanna handle these issues on thier employees.

but i bet they gamble secretly somewhere else or online at the competitor's casino. they got to spy on the competitor and hope to win.

Right the head office are in control of the programming section, how the machines should work. So, testing out and playing the machine is something they should know how to do, and they can easily get over their losses because they own the algorithm and maths involved in the casino. The employees on the other hand, are expected not to be addicted regardless of where they stake bets.
2945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Signs of compulsive gambling on: February 13, 2023, 01:49:34 PM
It is not always easy for the outside world to recognize certain signs. If you don't know if someone is involved in gambling, how do you make the link between signaling and gambling? In the winter, for example, many people don't go outside anyway and you hardly see each other. At work you see each other every day, but you don't want to interfere too much with other people and certainly not with their private lives. Addressing someone about gambling behavior can be confrontational and this can also lead to angry, irritated reactions from the gambler.
It may be difficult to know if our friend has a gambling addiction, especially if we are not close to that person. But there should be signs we can identify just from their movements or a feeling of anxiety often shown by that person. But if it is our co-worker, it won't be easy to recognize the signs because we can't see them as often as possible, especially when we've returned home. But at least if he's our close friend, we can tell the signs. But those addicted to gambling may not know or feel anything is wrong with it.
Gambling was so difficult even a few years ago but now that it is very easy. Earlier it was easy to detect a gambler but now it is very difficult to do so. There is no scope to identify. When they gamble online at home, there is no sign of it. Many times they lose but try to hide that fact from everyone. But it is visible from the face of those who are addicted to gambling. I have also seen many gamblers who cannot identify themselves as an addicted gambler after being addicted to gambling.

Indeed, talking to a colleague about his recent behavior that seems like he is addicted to gambling could be offensive, but helping out in a polite way won't sound so horrible to the victim. It takes a gambling conversation to convert a gambler to play responsibly and the person can then become friends with his colleague. What matters is saving the player from being convulsive; it could ruin his career because he won't provide the best services anymore. Secondly, I know a friend that was saved from gambling through his girlfriend. It works if the addicted player is married or in a relationship instead of meeting them to complain about their gambling habit, their spouse can handle vividly the task of advising, and counseling the victim to change their habit. The victim needs to hear it from someone they trust. It's more effective this way than causing more misunderstanding.
2946  Other / Meta / Re: Is the post and preview shortcuts working on your PC? on: February 13, 2023, 01:08:16 PM
I am using Firefox so maybe that explains why it doesn't work for me.
You are right. I just tested the shortcuts on Firefox and they didn't work. So, it seems that the behavior depends on the browser that is used.

Accardo, what browser you are using? Are you using firefox too?

Yes I'm using Firefox maybe it's the fault of the browser as I've gone through the answers here. Though I don't have chrome updated on my PC and like Rikafip said, it's not a trouble just wanted to confirm if I'm the only person that's experiecing the problem. I'd try with chrome once it's updated.
2947  Other / Meta / Is the post and preview shortcuts working on your PC? on: February 13, 2023, 08:10:44 AM
I've been trying for sometimes to know if the shortcuts alt+s for submit and alt+p to preview would work on my PC, but it seems useless and wouldn't make any changes. I think it's my Laptop's fault, and I'm not close to my desktop to confirm how true my instinct is about that. So, I thought about asking forum members if they have a means of achieving the shortcut key or it doesn't just work. Have you been using the shortcuts to post and preview your posts?
2948  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do scammers scale through on Bitcoin talk? on: February 13, 2023, 07:45:49 AM
As I new bie, how do I know someone is a scammer?

What should I do if I meet a scammer on Bitcointalk?

What should I do so I won't fall a victim of scam?
Please your contributions and advice will really appreciated.

Knowing someone is a scammer can be difficult but easier after they've scammed you. So, you'll have to be careful with high profit services, the forum helps to identify a scammer by adding a warning box untop of the person's service thread stating that lots of users have pointed the user as a scammer, but that doesn't solve most of the problem, because people still go on working with such persons even after reading the warning.

If you confirm someone is a scammer don't hesitate to drop a negative feedback on the person's account or open a thread on the reputation or scam accusation section reporting to the forum about the user with proves of chat and Bitcoin transaction hash.

To avoid scam you need to work with users that have got quality reviews on their service thread. And always confirm by asking for a review copy of their services before paying; for a user with lesser reputation.

Stay safe.
2949  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What do I need to know? on: February 13, 2023, 07:02:34 AM
Based on the way I am very despirate about crypto trading I have been scammed many times. I don't really know how I joined this forum but the way am seeing things, here this is were I can learn more about Bitcoin investment.
You just did joined. Thats the problem with such hurry, sometimes we are overwhelm by potential gains that we are seeing on other people. We dont know if thats true or just copied from other people or worse they are just shilling for their own bags. We cant really predict what will happen on those projects being shilled. So yes, better decision to focus on major coin like bitcoin at least theres no shilling needed since its proven for how many years its legit.

OP's desperation must have left him with no option than to choose BTC, which is a good take. I think from his motives he wants a starting point to begin his trading journey. Binance would be a good place for OP, as they offer trading tutorials for beginners and he could as well start with small funds. They're nice wallets recommended for him already, but some like electrum seem technical for a newbie like OP. What matters now is for him to try hot Android wallets for now then move on to open source wallet like electrum.

But, first, like you said Op needs to cool off and watch how the market works, he sounds hurried, like he wants a quick turn up from his investment. I hope he won't get in the hands of cheater again, if he sticks to the forum he would learn how to do it himself.
2950  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What most gamblers do. on: February 12, 2023, 09:35:42 PM
They are players that prepare all the funds they have for gambling and such people focus mainly on gambling than any other thing. They see gambling like a full time job, a source of income, so it's their business and not pleasure anymore. But, such a life is not recommendable for any gambler as it won't help them on the long run. They could lose out on every fund they've budgeted for gambling which could lead to depression. I think such people with little or no savings are not only addicted, but are worried about their losses and striving to hit a jack pot at all cost, which keeps them glued to playing games.
2951  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When looking for answers on the forum on: February 12, 2023, 06:24:24 PM
When seeking an answer anywhere, you're expected to know the right answer through the correspondence from people that give out merits or quote the answer to be correct, and if you are not satisfied with the responses here, keep asking more questions under the thread you created until the answers are simplified to your own understanding. Furthermore, it's always important to read the links that members provide on your thread, it'll better clarify you with what you are looking out for, however it's rare to get wrong answers from the forum that goes unnoticed. Members tend to point it out as a wrong answer, so it's necessary to read word for word the responses you get on your thread.
2952  Other / Off-topic / Re: SMS phishing attack (smishing) on: February 12, 2023, 06:04:34 PM
I've blocked the number and I'm hoping it would stop.

You said unknown number right? So how do you block an unknown number? Because from what I know you can't call or message an unknown number you can't even see the details of the number. Or am I missing it for private number? I have seen so many people talking about this but still yet I haven't experienced it and I'm also hoping I don't get to experience it.

Op, there's is still a probability that you're still going to get more messages from them even after block them (as you said) since they already have your number they can also send you more messages with another but the probability is quite small. But for now just be on your toe don't allow anyone use your phone for anything so that they don't accidentally download the file.

I think the sender has a number and his identity is unknown to the Op unlike the kind of unknown number you mean that has no identity or number, that can only happen for calls, I've not received an SMS from an unknown number without any ID. However, it's certain that Op would receive lots of these messages and the sender may not be targeting his crypto it could be some marketers using bulk SMS to market their app. But to be safe it's better not to download the file. Secondly, Op, shouldnt drop his numbers on public forums or social media where these people scrape numbers for bulk SMS.
2953  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: February 12, 2023, 04:21:39 PM
This is a good summary
We are talking about how free you are to move (movement) vs convenience and ease of work

On desktops work is usually faster to do and faster to organize
But for some things it’s no big deal to go mobile
of course using the desktop will be faster and free when gambling. it's all because the big screen makes it comfortable to look at and the desktop is supported by several devices that cellphones don't have. so that people will prefer a desktop when they are in the room and choose a cellphone when they are in a situation where it is not possible to bring our desktop.
the most important thing is that both have their own advantages and disadvantages and both are suitable for use in certain places according to the conditions at that time.

like I usually use a cellphone more to gamble but today I prefer to use a desktop when gambling. because I'm a little bored with the small screen and want to use a bigger screen.
This is right description but it is true for men 30+ years old. The young men used to use phone everywhere and it is normally for them to use phone for gambling. It is not so comfortable as desktop, not so fast, but they use phones for everything.
Even i sometimes fell myself to tired to move to the PC - and use the phone for gambling even if PC in the next room.

Me too, I easily get tired playing games on PC compared to phone, as I can lay on my bed while choosing the best bet to take. Though, it's always good to play on desktop looking at the size of the screen. I mean, that's why the both were created, to suit our preferences. I have noticed that some phones can't open casino sites like desktop with their user interface.  Since the both solve problems differently, I appreciate desktop and phone together.

They is a saying, "it's important to be kind than to be important", people had to get emotional about his post, and tried to help. That's what happened, so if it happened to be a begging thread which breaks the forum rule as the moderator said. considering that we are humans and easily moved by things we read especially one that refers to another person's bitter moments, that doesn't mean people shouldn't help a member even if he didn't ask for the help.
2956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People will choose bitcoins more if the number of cryptocurrency option is less. on: February 11, 2023, 08:06:18 AM
It's a totally different thing looking at the numerous amount of altcoins in the market, it proves that the market is decentralized and anybody can work on the network. So, if a person doesn't feel like adopting bitcoin they can hold on altcoin for their own risk. I don't think the altcoins are affecting bitcoin instead the failure of the altcoins are like a torn in the flesh of bitcoin. Therefore if those altcoins performs well in the market it won't be bad to have them. Take a look at Ethereum, Bch and ltc they've been around for longer times and not only that, they have led lots of investors to hold bitcoin. What we should expect is lots of quality altcoins example on netflix the movies they are all quality.

Your poll and what you're saying are confusing. Your poll is about earning merit and your post is about trading. But as your post about trading is also in the right section, we all came from being a newbie. These terminologies are just needed to be known by you and understand what they mean. If you see something new and you're not familiar with it, be quick in searching the meaning of it on Google and read the description, just be like that every time you see an unfamiliar word or term about trading.

Looking up strange words is one of the fastest means of learning, it boosts quickly the zeal to continue, but one disadvantage of it which Op should get hold of is lack of continuity. If he maps out 2hrs a day for trading tuition online and learning the meaning of the terminologies he'll achieve a lot before 30 days and his questions here would improve as well.
2959  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoiners are not friendly physical? on: February 08, 2023, 10:02:51 PM
Let's just think that they are introverted people or that they are very busy doing things. You should ask them why, because mostly their reasons are that they are shy or that it is an easier way to promote it online. Even if you asked me like that, I would say that I prefer it online since I do have things to do and don't have much time to have meetups. Though your purpose is good, but there are really introverted person or busy people, so you can't force them. Also, the audience in the online space is larger than in the physical one, as you need to approach them, and it also takes a lot of effort.

Most introvert person doesn't like to talk anything especially if they don't know the person so maybe others think that they are not friendly because they are not talking and people have misconceptions about it. But for sure if you know those people they can talk once they trust you that you don't want to do any harm to them. But even if not an introvert for sure they also aware about the risk talking crypto things in public so I guess many people remain silent about it and make all of this discussion done privately especially on online because we know many people know already about crypto and if they know the people has a lot of holdings especially if they use their phone as their wallets then maybe they will be in danger with that scene.

So understand each other is the key so that you will not create any problem to other bitcoin user since investments is confidential matter.

It's a nice point, but we are not expected to meet random persons. The both parties must have proven themselves to be close before moving forward to a scene. Like the introverts, they need to trust before he/she becomes an extrovert in their visitors presence. So, talking about Bitcoin meetings I don't think a well informed person would choose a dangerous venue for their meetings, so getting in trouble may not be on a high possibility. Like I said Depending on the kind of relationship they've built either in the forum or elsewhere.
2960  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Extremely Holding on: February 08, 2023, 09:19:02 PM
The Bitcoin market is making sellers look guilty of how they want to use their assets. It's not meant to be that way. Hodling helps the network, but we are in control of what to do with our assets that is why Bitcoin is better than the bank. The seller who made such a sell after holding for 11 years made more profits (one reason we are told not to sell) yet I don't see the difference between him and the person that sold after a year (instance). The end scene is that they sold. Let's predict he bought a new property with such a huge amount, that's his pleasure that made him to sell. That doesn't mean he can't sell the property tomorrow and buy Bitcoin at a cheaper or higher amount, at the end, it still helps the network. Then, let's back forward to the guy that sold 1 year after hodling, he may not have made so much profits, but the window is always open for them to buy more. In a nutshell, hodling as long as you can is necessary. Don't let the hodling pressure in the market create a self psychology in you that makes you feel unserious after selling your coin. If it matters to sell no problem. Holding is good too, but we have pleasures and problems in life to tackle.
