Over a month ago Canaan announced in the Forum that the AUC3 dongles are now sold separately. That is also clearly stated in the sales copy on all of their distributors websites. Bit of a PITA I agree but considering each dongle runs 5 miners it does make sense. I've been lucky and still had a few spare AUC's from buying my 721/741's last year.
What I *would* like to see included with each AUC is a USB-A to micro-USB data cable. A lot of times folks find that cables they have on-hand are actually charger/power cables that do not support data transfer. Ran into that last night when hooking up my new miners...
As for the controllers, aside from needing one per type (A721, 741, 821, 841) each controller will run up to 20 miners so is not that big of a deal when you have several miners...

The miners and PSU's can be on any side you want and also be packed together if desired. The fans are what do the cooling - not the exposed sides of the metal cases.
Personally, usually I never care about shut down but to prevent heat soak, just kill the pi or disconnect the data cable to the miner. It will go into idle mode with the fans running and you can then power down after they cool off.

NO. It will not even connect to a non-AB pool. I take it you have not even bothered to skim through the Halong thread much less have been following it? When the dev writing the driver forced it to connect to a non-AB pool he reported 75% of the results were invalid. The stench from Halongitosis and their ideas of marketing is rather overwhelming.

Sorry you and others got suckered by Halong into buying a miner that does not work on normal pools..... That is something they should have stated from day-1 of their going public last Nov. Until then, Kano has said several times he will NOT implement code changes needed for AB without proper thorough testing of it first - something Slush and 'other' pool operators are not known for.... A few folks here will be setting up access to their T1's for Kano to use.

they are showing alive. password is x, but when i go to the site and sign in, the GH/S rate in top right corner is 0, my userne is not showing up in the worker list, on the worker shift graph, shows no workers.
I configured the miner as per instructions, using my username. I just want to make sure work is being counted and I will be paid. I dont have all 50 on line yet, still waiting on the remainder to arrive. I just want to get the first ones running correctly.
For miner names are they all pointed to 1 user name or are they given suffix's as well to identify the miners? All one name works but just gives a total hash rate of them. example, I use: Fuzzy.Ant71s9b23 Fuzzy.A741_1 Fuzzy.A821_1 etc to see the stats for each miner. All payout to the 1 Fuzzy user name address.

@2112 This is both true and false. It is all true if you really believe that the particular chip really implements the AB. On the other hand is it possible to write a firmware that drives the regular non-AB mining chips in such a way that they appear to produce results that look like made with the AB. Interesting... Regarding BM's AB, everything I'd read is/was saying that it was a hardware implementation in the chips but able to be switched on/off. Considering it was never put to use, the ability to simulate (fake) AB by reprogramming the FPGA makes more sense as oppose to wasting die space on unused circuitry. Intel's patent application definitely is a hardware implementation probably destined to become a Foundry IP block for use by whoever wants to pay the royalty. As for Halong's 'open' version... A) To me it is a blatant attempt to hijack other mfgr's IP by saying, "Sure. You can use our 1 patent for 'free' -- provided you open access to all of your IP and lift all vendor NDA's as well. B) Their miners only work with a pool that implements the stratum AB switches. While writing/testing the T1's driver -ck has been emphatic on that. When he forced the firmware to connect to a non-AB pool only 1/4 of the hash's produced are valid. Now if they manage to convince most of the pools to support the new stratum code to use AB then yes the Halongitosis patent does become a rather large carrot to dangle even if it is a very malodorous one-- assuming the T1 miners eventually live up to their promised specs. So far the jury remains out on that point. C) My feeling is that not only Intel but also Bitmain, Canaan, Bitfury et al will all pursue their own implementation of overt AB. Hell, with Samsung getting into the ASIC miner chip biz it would even make sense for them to also come up with a Foundry IP block for AB to drop into whoever wants it in their chips.

Might want to add that when the AUC3 is not seen at all under Avalon Devices to be sure the USB-A to micro-USB cable between the RasPi and AUC is a data cable and not a charger/power cable. They are wired differently and many power/charger cables do not support data transfer. Just looked and that message usually means that the post or even entire thread thread was deleted by mods. It was probably in the Halong Dragon miner thread and the mods there have been rather free about removing disparaging posts and specifically any with the word 'Bitmain" in it....
Beyond that, both Biteme and Halonitosis's versions of AB rely on physical circuits inside of the ASIC chips. The chips themselves need to be changed. It is not just a change in firmware.

Good question and I don't think was ever answered. Remember part of the kerfuffle was Bitmain being granted a Chinese Patent on their rendition of AB. I do remember a lot of noise about just how that happened considering Timo's prior Patent on it. One possibly could be that the examiners used Timo's as Prior Art but only as what is refered to as a Basic Patent which only outlined the concept of AB. Don't think Timo ever worked with anyone to have it implemented into a chip. Bitmain could then be free to patent their hardware design to actually use AB. Another possibility could be that that because Timo did not register the Patent in China, at the time the Chinese examiners simply adhered to the letter of their law and ruled it was fair game for a Chinese company to claim as theirs. That particular point is why my company refuses to sell our equipment in China. Yes we did go through the process and have not only US but also EU and Chinese Patents but we are still not about to let them get their hands on actual systems for them to then dissect and copy. Or they just said screw Timo and stole it... Either way (barring theft) as Prior Art Timo nonetheless could/should enforce royalty payments if AB was ever actually activated by Bitmain.

However, MyRig clearly states on its ToS page that its name is "MyRig, Inc." -- not " マイリグ株式会社", and as far as I can tell, "MyRig, Inc." is not a valid entity. The actual name of the validly incorporated entity is マイリグ株式会社. MyRig should update its website's ToS to reflect that it is a Japanese corporation named マイリグ株式会社, not a Colorado corporation named "MyRig, Inc." These details are important for accountability purposes. As of the time of this posting, MyRig does not state on its web site that it is a Japanese corporation. It holds itself out as a Colorado corporation, choosing Colorado as the venue and jurisdiction for disputes and requiring the application of Colorado law, not Russian law and not even Japanese law. In addition, I am still unable to confirm that MyRig or マイリグ株式会社 is authorized to conduct business in Colorado, as it is required to register as a foreign corporation if it is operating there. Otherwise, it is operating in contravention of Colorado law. Considering Halong has a very warped idea of what normal internationally-recognized business practices are what do you expect? MyRig/Bitmain Warranty OTH -- until this kerfuffle who they are and where legally registered was never really an issue. Both provided great repair work. Them hooking up whole-hog with Halong Mining is why it becomes rather important in the event of the miners failing to meet spec or not being delivered leading people to seek legal recourse.

Also do be sure that the USBa-to-micro USB connecting between the RasPi and AUC is a data cable and not just a charger/power cable like typically found with phones/tablets... Been there, done that - they are wired with all 4 pins as power and don't work.

and ...snip.. Are you using the same controller (PI) The 841's have a different controller firmware that needs to be flashed onto the PI.
Also if you do have that set properly, did you try switching the cables around you are using to Daisy Chain them, it might be that the first one in the chain is defective. This was just a guess because I don't think the miner lights would be green if this was the case. EDIt: Got my colours switched up might be the cable since this is "idle"

So about a day into bitcoin. Im thinking about building a rig just for mining. I have a few questions.
1. Should I do a custom built rig? Buy a cheap computer and upgrade video card and power supply? or Buy a refub machine and upgrade video card and power supply? 2. What is a good pool to join?
If I go custom built, (I want to save the most power I can) can I use an Intel atom system that has PCIe x16 and use a decent video card?

Did you load the correct firmware onto the Pi-1? RasPi 1, 2, & 3B all use different firmware you can get from the Canaan site.

My problem is i only have a 4 or 5 inch hole in the celieng and i cant make any other holes or make this one bigger
Take out a window(s) and install exhaust fan(s) to fit the what should be a sizeable opening. No damage to building and when you move just have to replace the window.

The only thing I am happy about is that the patent does not follow the onerous Halong version that to me is strictly their attempt to get hold of other companies tech for free. Yes Intel will probably require a license/royalty fee but at least everybody can use it without giving away tech *they* developed.
Same applied to the original Timro's(?) AB patent until Bitmain stepped in with their version. That is when all hell broke loose.

Wonder how they are going to approach the Patent application from Intel filed today for a BTC hardware accelerator? Even though it makes my head hurt reading patent applications, it sure looks and feels like another variant of AB to me...
