Really shocking performance from Sottish team after having impressive win against team like Zimbabwe they have done big shit in this match against the Netherlands and now out of the world cup here I also completely blame the captaincy and his batting as well because he can do much better, and surely they can easily touch 300+ but due to poor performance now they lost this golden opportunity for having place into mega event of this year.

Bas de Leede was hero for the winning team with his all round performance, first he takes five wickets and then have very aggressive century which help his team for having spot into world cup while they lost 4 wickets I was feeling it's going to be easy win for the Scotland but suddenly poor captaincy and bowling give good chance to Dutch, and now they have flight for the world cup after thrashing Scottish in this last game for these both countries into this event.

Bas de Leede is just 23 years old and he has a bright future ahead of him. And furthermore, he is a home-grown player. He of Dutch origin and was born and brought up in the Netherlands. Netherlands played extremely well this time and they deserve to be in the world cup. Players like Bas de Leede, Logan van Beek and Scott Edwards put a lot of effort this time. Feels bad for Scotland, but it was due to the stupidity of their captain that they are out. Chris Sole was not given a second spell and that allowed the Dutch batsmen to score the required runs.

Indonesia has data on 30 players of descent and 10 people must have Indonesian passports. One of the most talked about is Welberlieskott de Halim Jardim, he's a Sao Paulo player and Gabriel Han Willhoft-King who plays at Tottenham Hotspurs' Under 18 years.
it would be interesting if the Host could deploy a squad that could compete with other strong teams. because we know that even though the competition is at a young age, Indonesia is not the favorite to win. they host, and not just make good hosts for a successful event. but if they come up with a good squad it will be even better value for the hosts.

It will be very difficult to predict the chances of Indonesia qualifying for the next round, since the schedule is not out yet. It won't be that difficult, as the top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stage. And also, competition at U-17 level can't be compared to that at the senior level. There is a good chance of upsets happening. The first match will be played in around 4 months from now, and therefore we can expect the announcement regarding FIFA on schedule and grouping of the teams very soon.

✂✂✂✂✂
This is his first International match after the last IPL match. His last test was against Pakistan in 2022, and his last ODI was against Bangladesh on Mar 03, 2023. So yeah, this is a good comeback from Mark Wood.

Mark Wood is someone who can bowl at speeds of up to 97 mph. And this makes him the fastest bowler in international cricket right now (Second would be Chris Sole of Scotland, who bowled at 94 mph during the world cup qualifiers). If England manages him well and keeps his workload at affordable levels, then for the next 2-3 years they can weaponize him to their own benefit. My main concern is with injury. Three months back he got injured and missed most of the IPL. If he gets injured again, then that would mean the end of his international career.

That is why the Republican party is afraid of Trump, indeed. He has a lot of influence over the red voters, which it could mean he has enough power to divide and destroy the GOP.

For example, I remember than some months ago, there was a rumor that in order to participate within the Republican debates, those nominees had to sign a document promising to accept and support whoever ended up being the chosen candidate. It may be a coincidence, but since then Trump has refused to debate publicly with other Republican runners and even refused to do so in Fox News.

LOL.. GOP has become a laughing stock. Before 2016, I would have considered the GOP as one of the most transparent and fair political parties in the globe. Now GOP has become a private enterprise that is owned and operated by Donald Trump. There is no room for independent opinion. If anyone speaks out against Trump, then the latter would destroy that individual in primary polls. The same people who complained about the Democrat primaries in 2016 (when Bernie Sanders was defeated by Billary with help from super-delegates) are silent in this case.
2945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: July 07, 2023, 03:38:27 AM
I have a different opinion that Elon Musk has a better chance of this actually happening.
From his body shape, I'm sure Elon musk has greater strength than Mark, even though Elon musk has never smoked, but for this match, not only health but physical strength is also very influential.
Another thing that I can predict if this match actually happens I think Mark will not be able to beat Elon musk with a smaller body.[/left]

Agreed on Elon.

This so called fight is never going to happen, but let's talk about the hypothetical possibilities. Elon is much taller and heavier when compared to Mark Zuckerberg. Age is the only domain where Mark gets the advantage. But IMO, Elon looks healthier than Mark, and both these individuals don't suffer from any serious health issues at this point. I really hate Mark Zuckerberg, because he is the same guy who stole the idea of cryptocurrency and then tried to replace Bitcoin with his nonsense Libra project. In the end he had to shelve his plans though.

I Guess the squad had a 15 players cap so it's tough for the selectors. Rinku did everything right and it's true for Tilak Varma as well. Both these guys were competing for the 5-6th number spot.

Unfortunately, he and Rutu missed out, at the same time no one can say that selected guys are dummies. It tells you competition is tough for every spot.

The BCCI is yet to announce the squad for Cricket competition in the Asian Games, where Shikhar Dhawan will be the captain for India. There is a good chance that some of these players will get an opportunity. Pakistan will also be participating in the Games, and I am sure that the organizers will try their best to get an India vs Pakistan match. Anyway, it is good to know that the BCCI is moving towards separate squads for limited overs and test cricket. Complete separation has not been done yet, but I hope that it will occur in the future.

BTW, has anyone looked in to the squad announced by the BCCI for the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup? Riyan Parag was selected and I don't know on what basis he was considered. WTF is going on with the team selection nowadays?
2947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: July 07, 2023, 03:18:21 AM
They used to be a bit better but they were never a team that had any chance to win euro cup to be fair. When was the last time you saw Norway as the top three team to win any euro or world cup ever? I do not remember that happening anytime in the past, maybe it has happened back before I was alive, that is a possibility but I do not think that they were ever that great. So, with Haaland now on the field, they are still not that great and can't really make that much difference.

I would guess they will win "some" games, but they are not going to win it all, I do not see even a semi-finals for them neither, the very best ever they could hope for is a good draw against weaker teams hopefully, otherwise maybe not even qualify for it as well.

I don't expect Norway to win major FIFA/UEFA competitions such as Euro cup. I don't even expect them to reach the semi-final stage of the Euro Cup. But the fact that they are struggling to even qualify for the main event is a concern for me. And it is so unfair to Erling Hĺland. But then, Norway is a small country of just 4 million people and they should be proud of whatever they have achieved so far. Anyway, for the current competition, the chances that Norway would be able to qualify are very slim. In all probability, it will be Spain and Scotland who will finish at no.1 and no.2 in Group A.
2948  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: July 07, 2023, 03:08:12 AM
First of all, I think at least 20 teams should have full membership of the ACC in total. And in every World Cup, these 20 teams should be able to compete without having to play any kind of qualifier. Then I think we can call it an actual World Cup. I know this will be a little tricky to do in the ODI World Cup. But this can easily be done in the T-20 World Cup for sure. And that's why I said that the ICC should concentrate on the T-20 format a lot more than they are doing right now. They associate nations really sure to be taken seriously by the ACC at this point.

IMO, there should not be two tiers - full membership and associate membership. All the ICC members should have the status of full member. Funding should be done on the basis of performance. If Scotland and Netherlands are performing better than West Indies and Ireland, then the former should get more funds when compared to the latter. There is no excuse in granting $16 million per year to the WICB, when they are consistently losing matches against associate nations. Merit should be taken in to account.

In fact, I was also hoping for opposite numbers after they revoked the measure that allowed expelling migrants without considering their asylum applications, as it would be easier to stay longer in the United States and thus the number of irregular people would increase, but that is not what happened.

Indeed, the United States experienced a peak of irregular migration during the Covid crisis, with poor people coming primarily from countries already experiencing acute humanitarian emergencies, such as Venezuela, Haiti and other regions dominated by criminal groups in Central America.

My opinion is that with the "improvement" in the global situation, the numbers of people migrating to the United States has decreased due to lack of interest, and not just because of measures that the United States has taken.

In any case, this has always been a sensitive issue in the discussions of presidential candidates.

Media wants to paint a picture of poor people migrating to the United States to escape from poverty. But that is not the case in realty. A large fraction of those who immigrate illegally are criminals and people with shady background. Here in India, most of the illegal immigrants to the US comes from two states - Punjab and Gujarat. Farmers in these states are filthy rich (thanks to the freebies from Indian government) and they spend anywhere from ₹2 million to ₹5 million in trying to migrate to the US (equivalent to $16,500 - $41,350).
2950  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: July 07, 2023, 02:48:06 AM
I just hope Robert Firmino deliver a good job in his new club, he would afterall he got lengthy experience in European football. Saudi Arabia is the final destination for any footballer looking to earn an excessive amount of money from clubs. Earning big bucks is the only option for Robert Firmino; he's one of Jurgen Klopp's excellent players who performed when given the chance. The Brazilian international's decision to become part of the Saudi Arabian team is completely understood; players that transfer to the Saudi league have little or no performance to provide, because it's all about competition.

I don't think that it has solely to do with money. Income tax in Saudi Arabia is quite low (20%, compared to 55% in France) and the quality of the national league is quite good (unlike the case with the European leagues). On top of that, Saudi Arabian clubs are know to respect and value their players, unlike some of the European clubs. Also, the managers in European clubs are very powerful and they decide whether a particular player gets an opportunity to start in the XI or not. I haven't noticed any such issues with the Saudi Professional League.

Regarding about the stadium that will be used in the final game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, here's the final detail.

Quote
The final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2026. The MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey is the intended stadium and host city for the final match of the 2026 FIFA men’s soccer World Cup in North America.
https://www.2026worldcupnorthamerica.com/fifa-football-final-world-cup-soccer-2026/#:~:text=The%20final%20of%20the%202026,World%20Cup%20in%20North%20America.

AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas has been on the list but because of the said reason above, FIFA has decided that it will be more compelling to the people around the world if they will hold it in the home of New York Jets and New York Giants. Also, MetLife has been chosen to host the final game because it can cater more audience.

In terms of capacity, there is not much difference between the AT&T stadium and the MetLife Stadium. IMO, the fact that weather at that time in Texas can be extremely hostile probably turned the tables for the MetLife stadium. And I haven't heard anything about the capacity in these stadiums getting increased. But there is plenty of time, as the next world cup is three years away. The Lusail stadium, which hosted the final between Argentina and France in the FIFA World Cup in 2022 also had a similar capacity (88,966).

Does anyone know when Mark Wood recovered from the injury he suffered during the IPL? He played his last match for the Lucknow Super Giants on 15th April and could not take part anymore in the IPL due to the injury. In the first 4 matches, he had picked up 11 wickets. And I guess he was injured at the time of the first two test matches. He is the best bowler for England at this point. But the fact that he gets injured so often should be a concern for them. Already they lost one of their best bowlers (Jofra Archer) to injury.

For those who are wondering what are the long-term implications of qualifying/not-qualifying to the world cup for both Netherlands and Scotland, I would provide some stats. Associate nations who qualified to the 2015 ODI World Cup received an additional funding of $1 million each. Netherlands is likely to receive this amount in 2023. Ever since Srinivasan/Pawar took over the ICC and BCCI two decades back, matches between associate nations and full members are almost inexistent. Netherlands will get a golden opportunity to play 9 matches against full members, since they have qualified. Scotland on the other hand have no ODIs scheduled against full members until 2027.
2954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 06, 2023, 02:58:17 PM
The reason Scotland lost was the fall of wickets in the power play which put the team under a lot of pressure. But even though Brandon of Scotland scored a century, the unique player could not score too many runs. Scotland's bowling Leask did very well with 42 runs and two wickets falling in just 8 overs which gave the team a huge advantage. But other bowling they only advanced Netherlands' run average, Scotland's bowling could not put pressure on Netherlands team. But on the other hand, if you compare the bowling of Scotland with the bowling of the Netherlands, the bowling of the Netherlands has definitely proved to be very strong. But the batting performance of Netherlands is very good enough to take the team to victory.

IMO, Scotland was the better team by a good distance. They lost only because of poor captaincy. First of all, they should have easily made 300 batting first. However in the last 6 overs they could make only 43 runs, at 7 runs per over. Tomas Mackintosh was scoring quick runs, but he got no support from the other end. If they had made another 20-25 runs (which they should have done), then Netherlands would have never qualified for the world cup. And while bowling, the retarded Richie Berrington refused to give a second spell to Chris Sole. If you make these sort of retarded decisions, then you don't deserve to qualify for the world cup.

England vs Australia
Today's 3rd Test match between the two teams has started. Australia now comes out to bat. Scored 147 runs in 38.1 overs. So far Australia has lost 4 strong wickets. Australia batsman David Warner is out for 4 runs off 5 balls. David Warner is batting.  Poor performance. Usman Khawaja is out for 13 runs in 37 balls. Marnus Labuschagne is out for 21 runs in 58 balls. Australia team's 4 strong batsmen are batting very poorly. Australia is under a lot of pressure in batting now. England bowling line is a lot.  Started performing well.

Australia was in trouble. At one point, they were 85/4. But now Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head are treating the England bowlers like the latter are from some fifth-tier associate nation. Mark Wood and Stuart Broad were so impressive earlier. But all of a sudden they lost their venom and started leaking runs. Ollie Robinson and Chris Woakes are being very ordinary. And the less we talk about Moeen Ali that better.

Edit: finally Chris Woakes managed to get the wicket of Mitchell Marsh.
2956  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: July 06, 2023, 02:38:59 PM
After the exceptional performance by Scotland and Netherlands during the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier, will the ICC consider full membership to these two teams? They certainly performed better than Ireland and gave the other full members (Zimbabwe, West Indies and Scotland) a run for their money. And the sad thing about Scotland is that despite performing so well, no matches against full members are scheduled until 2027 (when the next qualifier tournament will take place). It's a cruel world, especially for associate nations in cricket.
2957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 06, 2023, 02:28:50 PM
Netherlands have won the match against Scotland in style. De Leede's awesome innings scoring 123 runs from 92 balls made it happen. Netherlands have qualified for the 2023 World Cup. Netherlands lost its fifth wicket at 163 runs, the partnership between de Leede and Zulfiqar is just excellent and it is 100+ runs in less than 12 overs. Big disappointment for Scotland as it was like a winning moment for Scotland at some point. That was a real fight as Netherlands, Scotland and Zimbabwe have the same point and Netherlands gets qualified on Net runrate.

IMO, Scotland deserved to qualify, but then they got whatever shit that was warranted after bowling like schoolboys in the last 7-8 overs. Captaincy was extremely poor and Richie Berrington persisted with spinners (Mark Watt) despite Bas de Leede hitting him all over the park. And their best bowler was called in only when Netherlands needed just 2 runs to win. Chris Sole ended up bowling just 7 overs. This is retarded shit from the Scotland captain. He is the main reason why Scotland failed to qualify for the world cup. I just hope that Scotland will find someone who is in his right mental balance as the captain.

BTW, I was watching the match live in Hotstar. Peak viewership in Indian market was 92K, which is not bad for a match between two associate nations.

^^^ You assume that China has a deep love affair with US Dollar. Then why they are offloading a part of their reserves in US treasury bonds? Why they have given their approval for the common BRICS currency, which as CNY having the highest weightage? China is trying to move away from USD and there is no confusion related to this. But they are intelligent enough to understand that doing so takes a lot of time and it can't be done in a fortnight. And also, even for trade using CNY/RUR, values are first calculated in USD and then converted to the other currency.
2959  Economy / Economics / Re: UAE is the biggest gold buyer of Russia during this war on: July 06, 2023, 04:11:26 AM
A good leader will take advantage of opportunity like this, this war has made some prudent countries to get better by making the most of he cheap resources from Russia. The way some countries decided to make their citizens to suffer for a war that do not concern them, I am not surprised that countries like India, China and UAE are making the most of this war, buying cheap oil and Gold but the Europeans are paying through their nose for the fuel and they are suffering high inflation for these useless decisions by their leaders

The countries that are being mentioned here (India, United Arab Emirates and China) refused to take sides during the Russia vs NATO proxy war that is ongoing on Ukraine. European public elected warmongers like Green Party, and they deserve all the inflation and economic downturn that they are getting now. But why someone in India or China should suffer for this? Crude oil prices have rocketed up by 2x from the 2020 levels. And this has a lot to do with the ongoing wars and policies by Biden regime. Given this, NATO should not advise neutral parties when they try to secure cheaper commodities.

^^^ Currently Sadio Mané is earning €22 million per year from his contract with Bayern Munich. The offer from Al Ahli is surprisingly lower than what he currently receives. As per reports, Mané is being offered a salary of €20 million per year by the Saudis which is around 10% lower than what he is earning right now. But I guess he doesn't have too many option with him right now. Bayern Munich management is not happy with him, as a result of various on-field and off-field incidents and other available options for him are much less lucrative.
