2941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: July 23, 2013, 03:44:08 AM
Well maybe we should somehow/somewhere make it clearer then how much of what is already being done all aims toward eventually having all the parts in hand to be able to hopefully all together act as a massively multiplayer game or entire collection of multiplayer games all integrated one way or another so that overall they all function as parts in a larger metagame.

2942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: July 23, 2013, 03:36:06 AM
well now it can be merged mined with bytecoin aswell so that could be added to the list^

It was always able to be merged mined alongside Terracoin, Bytecoin, whatever other bitcoin clones came out that I didn't notice.

But one would have had to drop bitcoin from the merge to do that, which wasn't really an economical way to go.

Is bytecoin able now to function as a secondary chain though?

2943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: July 23, 2013, 03:25:55 AM
It is merged mined though so the cost of mining it is trivial once one is already mining some other SHA256 coin (such as bitcoin) anyway.

So maybe it will survive. It will be interesting to see. If miners cannot be relied upon to secure a chain even using merged mining I guess there won't be a lot of new business coming to the merged mining industry.

All those cool ideas that were thrown around back when merged mining came along will have to look for other ways to go if it turns out that the cost of even merged mining is insanely expensive. Which it could easily turn out to be since the cost of non-merged mining is so massively totally bat-shit crazy that even merging eight chains at once might not dilute  that basic horrendous expense enough to make even merged mining be practical at any reasonable price.

And LTC ? Why and LTC ? Better to stick to merged mining BTC, NMC, DVC, GRP, IXC, I0C, CLC and XGG.

That people stuck with a bunch of obsolete GPUs are too butthurt to upgrade to FPGA or ASIC doesn't really justify spawning endless streams of scams to suck money out of people who don't know any better.

If it were really about actually improving things Tenebrix and/or Fairbrix would have been improved/maintained-better instead of spawning yet another clone of the scrypt concept and calling it Litecoin.

Github has opened up the repo for use again?

Or are you pulling from some other repo now?

You do realize it has nothing to do with time-hours right?

That part seems either newly made up or something inconveniently left out of all his prior attempts at specifying what the heck he was actually wanting done.

By the way Vlad I hope you along with all the small miners you want so much to help raked in nice piles of Tenebrix and Fairbrix using just one CPU core while that opportunity existed, because it looks like the GPU miners have jumped on them now.

Also GRouPcoin has been jumped on, though I0Coin, CoiLedCoin and GeistGeld are still nice and easy.

-MarkM-

I tried but couldn't figure out now to mine them.  I knew it.  I just can't do a lot of the required software stuff but your advice was solid and I would have taken it snd I actually tried.

Like o said, accumulate any coins. This is not even the start of a bubble - the coming slt coin bubble will blow past the Internet tech bubble and in like 2-3 years not 7-10 years.

Well its pretty pathetic to run off pretending you are so awesome you can invent a whole new supercoin when you haven't even been able to figure out how to mine them.

How about learning something about the next field you decide you want to go into business in before trying to go into business in it?

Wow. That is hilarious. I guess its not spoiled yet afterall.

+1 to this...  I see what you mean  Shocked

Even Vlad does, hence why I mentioned how - comparatively - observant he is. That adds a lot to the hilarity.

I always wonder why the XPM block chain sometimes includes blocks out of order.

Bitcoin has a fairly wide window of accepted times, and it is +- and allows for this as well.  Only a few clones/forks have tightened this up much,  like i0coin did, and they but an ntpdate like routine into it.  I really think hosts that run coin programs should  run ntp and that being able to require better times would be a plus all around.

Oh is that why I0Coin dies about once a day or two trying to do a DNS lookup on an NTP host. Thank goodness that idea didn't catch on. Making NTP hosts another vector for Sibyl attacks is not really a great idea even if it didn't cause regular crashes.

Someone posted a link to a second nuggets clone earlier today.  Weird thread title like zzzzzzzzzzzzzxxxxxxxxx or some crazy stuff like that.

I checked the link and sure enough it was not spots thread and it looked like another Nuggets clone with ZERO Upgrades and changes.  Why?   Why this coin?  Doesn't anyone have like just one guess?

I don't think so. I think you took one glance at some thread of some ancient scamcoin from long ago and decided it was a clone of your coin.

2955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 23, 2013, 12:03:13 AM
Spots didn't clone Vlad's idea anyway, all they cloned was totally broken code that does not in fact implement Vlad's idea. Though they still don't seem to have noticed that.

Last I checked they still advertised on their first post Vlad's feature that they still had not actually implemented.

2956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 22, 2013, 11:39:19 PM
You keep saying your coin was cloned twice, spots being once then someone mentioned luckycoin and you started saying oh that is twice now this coin has been cloned.

If you didn't mean luckycoin which coin did you mean was the second clone of this coin?

It doesn't matter how much I like someone that isn't going to make me want them to spew out yet another coin.

There are far far more coins than we have the maintance staff to support, spewing out more work for the maintenance staff is not helpful.

The theory that people playing around at making pretend coins would lead to them being familiar with the code so becoming qualified to work on maintenance also seems to be falling apart, a look at the code shows they are crap coders and they don't care, they don't want to make good code they don't want to maintain anything they just want to keep screwing more people out of more money with these pathetic scams that really its amazing anyone is stupid enough to fall for buying the pretend coins but they do, which is really sad because when scams are that pathetically obvious it is usually poor old folk who get talked into them, people who can least afford to lose what little money they have.

It doesn't matter how much money you throw at making another similar scam, you aren't going to create some great new wonderful useful scam, at most you're just going to end up as just another victim. If you are so expert on building better scams you should just pick a bunch of the existing scams and help them be better, if you really are so determined that being a scammer is what God wants of you.

2957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 22, 2013, 10:56:58 PM
I guess Vlad does read an occassional word or phrase at random in his own thread since he seems to have seen someone mention that his coin was a clone of luckycoin but then somehow decided that luckycoin is a clone of his coin.

Must be all the timetravel eh, he was jaunting back in time and somehow slipped his idea to the luckycoin author?

Mine claims block number is 78429 now.

Yeah, it is definitely having some issues whether it is getting stuck or just slowing down.

I don't see it, i am at 78430 now.

And your coin was a Luckycoin clone, With "God's numbers" and the letter "V" added.  Oh and it didn't work.

FYPFY

If it's a clone genius if super and lucky blocks tell me why much better programmers than you like markM and twoBits haven't been able to get it to run.

You do know clone means cut and paste and click on run, right?

So obviously my coin has something original, something new and that's is the definition if innovation.  So much so the best here can't figure it out yet.

Is that complicated or do you think Mark can't cut and paste as good as your fraudulent waste of 10,000 posts?

Your coin had cut and pasted the supposedly broken code from luckycoin.

So most coins using lucky blocks are probably all using the same broken code.

Since there is no lack of clone coins with lucky blocks there is no hurry to launch any more of them, it seems more useful to wait until a good way of doing them has been decided upon, then maybe have them all set a block number at which to change to fixed code. If there is still any need to launch yet another clone by then, which i guess some idiot is going to claim there is, then the same better code could be used for that too.

Its not as if there is any hurry since there is no need. If some kind of consensus is reached as to what approach to use then doubtless someone will end up using it. It is not something I am in any hurry to do, why would I, yet another scamcoin is not something I actually want to see happen.

I ran some nodes just for the learning experience of figuring out what was going on in the blockchains, like which version people were running and why none were reporting any conflicts.

From the sound of it the spots people have not even noticed anything wrong yet, that is kind of amusing too. Why bother creating a fix for them, lets wait and see if they even notice the problem...
