I want to congratulate KLYE on his repayment methods. It really seems he's making an epic re-impression in a large way. He should be so pleased with his progress at this point. His discipline at this point is something that many here never thought he had in him. I applaud him for being a winner.
2962  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Watch – What We’re Looking At on: April 01, 2015, 03:18:09 AM
Two weeks ago it was that bitcoin was going to hit 230 then 200 and I disagreed, even with all the crap going down bitcoin has been surprisingly stable and if there isn't anymore hacks and dumps of coins this week expect a 250$ hit and then a bit more.

Bitcoin's price tends to remain stable in the short to medium term but unfortunately, this stability is punctuated by rapid falls in the BTC price which makes it very unstable in the medium to long term. Then it rises slightly and becomes stable again until a few weeks/months later when another dramatic fall occurs which results in the price breaking its previous low. It happened when the price dropped from the high 200's to the mid 100's near the beginning of this year (before rebounding to the mid 200's which is where it is currently at) and it has happened a couple of times in 2014 as well. If the pattern continues, then we might see the price drop to the 100's again or possibly even lower. Sad
So, pretty much the truth has manifested itself in a large way but all things are sitting well at this time for new folks to check out.

Could Another Democrat Beat Hillary Clinton? Strategists Offer a Blueprint

She has been called inevitable. The can’t-be-stopped candidate. Hillary Rodham Clinton is such an overwhelming favorite in presidential primary polls that most prominent Democrats are taking a pass on challenging her.

But politics can be an unpredictable business, and those of us covering the campaign have been wondering: Is there any way a Democratic challenger could beat Hillary Rodham Clinton?

We asked three of the smartest Democratic strategists we know to imagine this situation: You are running the campaign of a liberal Democrat against Mrs. Clinton. You have $50 million to spend. What is your message? How do you run against her?

The strategists agreed to sketch out a blueprint anonymously, so as not to anger Mrs. Clinton. Some common themes immediately emerged.

2964  Other / Politics & Society / Indiana law draws Republican White House hopefuls into the culture wars on: April 01, 2015, 03:11:07 AM
The national debate over an Indiana religious-liberties law seen as anti-gay has drawn the entire field of Republican presidential contenders into the divisive culture wars, which badly damaged Mitt Romney in 2012 and which GOP leaders eagerly sought to avoid in the 2016 race.

Most top Republican presidential hopefuls this week have moved in lock step, and without pause, to support Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R) and his Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which has prompted protests and national calls for boycotts by major corporations.

2965  Other / Politics & Society / OBAMA PLANS 'EXECUTIVE ORDER' FOR UN CLIMATE RULES on: April 01, 2015, 03:01:40 AM
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Obama administration's plan for U.N. climate change talks encountered swift opposition after its release Tuesday, with Republican leaders warning other countries to "proceed with caution" in negotiations with Washington because any deal could be later undone.

The White House is seeking to enshrine its pledge in a global climate agreement to be negotiated Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 in Paris. It calls for cutting greenhouse gas emissions by close to 28 percent from 2005 levels within a decade, using a host of existing laws and executive actions targeting power plants, vehicles, oil and gas production and buildings.

But Republican critics say the administration lacks the political and legal backing to commit the United States to an international agreement.

But when the Fed is creating money out of thin air like they have been, they can do plenty w/o generating more tax revenue to commit their wrongs on our behalf. Inflation thru QE is the status quo these days yet the prices on necessities are rising out of control.

Bitcoin hasn't become a worldwide currency nor a partial currency since back then but it has found its niche and found some value in the rest of the world which is only getting greater as time goes by. Last year's flush to normalcy was what was needed to come back to the ground floor.

These feds just went rogue and embraced the outsiders in this whole thing so they're in deep crap, esp since they diverted funds which is a nono. Can you imagine the conversations that they're having with their families right now? This is super serious, folks. I can't comprehend how this permeates the fed agent culture at the moment. My guess is many of them are thinking that bitcoin is something to behold since their brethren left the plantation over it.

Live by the fed sword, get rekt by it in the end when you think your expertise is too high.

I've got to say that I'm very surprised that these guys went rogue like this when they had such great jobs, thinking they could pull this move and get away with it. Unless, they were sold on the anonymity factor that really doesn't exist. I think hubris did them in and I feel for their families at this point.

2973  Other / Politics & Society / IRS chief to GOP: You can't abolish us on: April 01, 2015, 01:08:25 AM
The IRS commissioner on Tuesday brushed aside GOP proposals to abolish his agency, insisting the U.S. would have to have a tax collector one way or another.

“You can call them something other than the IRS if that made you feel better,” the agency’s chief, John Koskinen, said after a speech at the National Press Club.

Republicans have heaped even more criticism upon the agency than usual over the last 22 months because of its improper scrutiny of Tea Party groups.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) perhaps has made the most prominent calls to get rid of the IRS. While launching his presidential bid earlier in March, he floated the idea of “a simple flat tax that lets every American fill out his or her taxes on a postcard.”

Koskinen said Tuesday that, even under the simplest of tax codes, the federal government would need an agency to collect revenue and administer the tax code, something Cruz’s own aides have also admitted.

“Somebody has to collect the money, and then somebody also has to make sure when you fill in the small card, you’re putting in the right numbers,” Koskinen said.

But Koskinen also said he understands why politicians seek to tap into public anger at the IRS. Conservatives have become increasingly angry at the IRS because of the Tea Party controversy, but Koskinen insisted that an overly complicated tax code spurred much of the anger at his agency.

“I think that’s a lot of what’s behind, you know, ‘get rid of the IRS.’ It’s really ‘get rid of this complicated tax code.’ And to that extent, I think that’s a reasonable goal,” Koskinen said.

2974  Other / Politics & Society / Experts Admit Conspiracy Theorists Right About Rigged Stock Market on: April 01, 2015, 12:58:31 AM
The Dirty Secret is Out

Are there really secret manipulations of the economy going on in the shadows of Wall Street and Washington?

Do bears crap in the woods?

The NY Post’s controversial columnist John Crudele has thrown down the gauntlet, declaring that the market is rigged. And not only does everyone know it, but it is now being admitted.

The stock market is rigged.

When I started making that claim years ago — and provided solid evidence — people scoffed. Some called it a conspiracy theory, tinfoil hats and that sort of stuff. Most people just ignored me.

But that’s not happening anymore. The dirty secret is out.

Ed Yardeni, a longtime Wall Street guru who isn’t one of the clowns of the bunch, said flat out last week that the market was being propped up. “These markets are all rigged, and I don’t say that critically. I just say that factually,” he asserted on CNBC.

Yardeni’s claim is the most basic one: that the Federal Reserve won’t do anything that will upset Wall Street and, in fact, is doing all it can to help the stock market.

So the Federal Reserve is propping up Wall Street, and the economy by extension, not only by issuing free money through QE3, but buying up bonds and shares as well.

Why Rand Paul stands out

(CNN)Sen. Rand Paul, who is expected to announce on April 7 that he will be running for the presidency, is garnering a great deal of attention as he travels around the country promoting his brand of libertarian conservatism.

The Kentucky senator's widely publicized appearance this month at the South by Southwest festival at Austin, Texas, was one opportunity he used to appeal to a tech-savvy audience. His particular blend of ideas -- a combination of libertarianism and Republican conservatism -- stands out from the rest of the pack. Younger Republicans, the much-desired millennial vote, seem attracted by what they are hearing.

What accounts for his appeal? In an era when so many Americans seem frustrated with shallow, personality-based politics, there seems to be genuine interest in a candidate who is fighting for a set of ideas. For many disaffected younger Republicans, Paul offers a version of the conservative agenda that seems foreign to the modern GOP.

For almost half a century, "big government conservatism" has ruled the party. Although conservatism is theoretically about limited government, the historical reality has been much different. On national defense, the hawks of the GOP have been victorious. ..

Rand Paul finds way to champion Iowa ethanol

It looks like presidential hopeful Rand Paul has found a clever way to champion ethanol, with an issue that's in harmony with his keep-government-out-of-the-marketplace mentality.

Paul, a Republican U.S. senator from Kentucky, has teamed up with Iowa's popular U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, to introduce the Fuel Choice and Deregulation Act.

Ethanol industry backers say the bill would grant relief from a regulatory quirk that's thwarting free market sales of E15, fuel that's 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline.

CBS Poll: Rand moving up as a voting possibility among GOP voters

Quote
Texas Senator Ted Cruz has undergone the biggest change since last month (interviews were being conducted for the poll when he announced his candidacy): 37 percent of Republicans would now consider voting for him, last month only 23 percent said so. Senator Rand Paul has gained 9 points since last month; now, 39 percent would consider voting for him, up from 30 percent in February.

Just wait til Rand gets his announcement bump next week. We all need to "rally round the family" and never let down, folks. Bitcoin=Liberty=Thriving=Rand Paul. Time to get serious my legions! All the details of the poll...http://www.cbsnews.com/news/poll-who-would-americans-consider-voting-for-in-2016/

When it gets farther along and Rand is climbing in the polls then you will see the MSM lapdogs attack him and they will pull out all stops to discredit him. They want that lying bitch Billary in the White House. After what she did with her email server she should be in prison.
No doubt about it on the media tip. I'm sure his team will develop strategy for this and so far, they've been able to lay traps for other candidates to Rand's benefit in the aftermath. He's got some of the best people in the business working for him and these heavyweights cast large shadows. But let's face it, all of the candidates get scrutinized. I'm more optimistic in Rand as a candidate than his dad, all things considered. Ron was the professor that taught a growing classroom in this nation and now most of them have 'graduated' over the last 4-8 years while the nation and the GOP has been through certain transitions as well. Rand is trying to appeal to all which isn't easy to do and that will be his biggest hurdle. Appealing to establishment republicans and keeping your base fully intact is no small feat since libertarians are very fickle and always looking over their shoulders. For as smart as many of them think they are, they are poor at strategizing since not adhering totally to a certain lingo gets the sellout talk.

Marco Rubio's "supportive" Billionaire Buddy~

Braman, the billionaire philanthropist, history buff and civic activist who four years ago orchestrated the ouster of a Miami-Dade County mayor, plans to bet big on Rubio as the Republican senator prepares for a 2016 presidential run. Braman won't say how much he could donate to Rubio's likely campaign, but the number is said to be around $10 million.

This eye-popping investment could signal conservative groups, including the Club for Growth and uncommitted donors such as Las Vegas casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson, to keep open minds — and wallets — toward Rubio. Their support could give him the financial prowess to stay in the race for the long haul if, as expected, Rubio declares his candidacy next month.

"He knows the odds, and I know the odds, but when he comes in contact with individuals, he's impressive," Braman said in a recent interview at his office on the second floor of his Biscayne Boulevard car dealership. "I think he's catching fire already."

Rubio declined to be interviewed through spokeswoman Brooke Sammon, who said the senator has "known Braman for years, and he values their friendship and appreciates his support." Braman, through his charity foundation, also employs Rubio's wife, Jeanette.

Despite their age difference — Braman is 82 and Rubio is 43 — the two friends speak occasionally, either on the phone or by text messages, Braman said. He insisted he doesn't weigh in on policy matters, though Braman, who is Jewish, cares deeply about Israel, and Rubio, who is Catholic, has emerged as an outspoken Israel hawk.
