2965  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any usefulness for this CPUs on: June 11, 2022, 10:42:46 AM
8700K is a little outdated, but someone building a cheap gamer PC could buy, it's 6/12 and perform very well in games due to high frequency

11800 I suppose it's 11800h, a laptop cpu, and I don't think you can sell without selling whole laptop

It's good and strong CPUs, but not for mine anymore. Ryzen was / is better to mine Monero and Raptoreum for example, but now it's not anymore, there's no profits to make unless in rare cases you have solar energy or 1cent electricity  Cheesy

You can sell 8700K, and 11800h you can sell if you are not using your laptop anymore

I know it's tempting to mine with GPUs and CPUs to have maximum profits, but CPUs are only profitable in short periods of time, mostly in a bull run and at the lauch of the coin.

... I have to admit that Palmeiras did a great job against Deportivo Táchira, which has always been my team...

As we are saying, Palmeiras is one of 3 strongest teams in Brazil right now and probably the favorite of Libertadores

Take a look at Brasileiro table:

Palmeiras is leading again, in Brasileiro and Libertadores with the best campaign so far...

I lost my bet on Goias, I was sure it can beat Fortaleza, but the match was a draw, I lost 50 BRL hehehe, now I have to recover my loss, and I'm studying what to do
Probably I'll bet on Corinthians, the odd is 1.70

To recover my 50 loss, I need to bet more or less 80 BRL  Tongue
2967  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BEST MINING OPTION FOR 500W ? on: June 11, 2022, 12:10:47 AM
I don't know if you already have something to start, like a PC with free PCIe slots, but considering the moment of ETH POS, I suggest you to look for Nvidia cards.
You can mine ETH right now and them you will have a better option to mine another coins, Nvidias are better than AMD on another algos.

500w you can run 3x RTX 3070 for example, or 1x RTX 3080 and 1 RTX 3070, there's a lot of great combinations
Right now I don't think it's a good idea to go with AMDs

2968  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Won't be able to keep up on: June 10, 2022, 11:47:09 AM
What if we don't go lower? What if you will end up waiting for something that will never happen? If BTC bottoms at 28,000$ to 32,000$ then it's over, Ethereum won't dip much more than many expected, in this case what will you do?.

Maybe you're right, there's a chance we already are in the bottom of market (to be fair, the bottom of ETH until now, in this season is 1,724 USD for ETH and 26,782 USD for BTC), and a good plan should consider all possible scenarios, and this side market is one of them
What's hard to predict right now, harder than prices, is the merge / POS ETH, everything is going well until now, we can expect this year, but:

Something can go wrong, and can be postponed again, this is commom to ETH
Merge can happen this year and ETH dump instead of pump, due to unlock of staked coins
No one knows a future for miners without ETH, is there any coin there will be pumped and supported by miners?

2970  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Won't be able to keep up on: June 09, 2022, 08:58:15 PM
These video cards are very good for Ethereum mining, and while mining is possible, they should not be turned off, even if the profit is minimal. The price of Ethereum may rise. But then it might be better to sell these video cards.

Just a reminder, not all of these cards are able to mine ETH due to dag size

Here's a chart, interesting to see:

Source: https://minerstat.com/dag-size-calculator

So, 1060 3gb, RX 570 and 580 4Gb models are not able to mine eth anymore.
2971  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Won't be able to keep up on: June 09, 2022, 11:42:17 AM
1060 lauch date was 2016, and RX 580 and 570 was 2017
It's almost time to retire  Cheesy

I find hard to answer because you didn't post more details here

How about your electricty costs?
If you have cheap electricity, let's say 5 cents, you can continue to mining
If you are running with solar, no reason to shutdown...

And your situation?
Maybe you need money to invest in something else, maybe you want to have cash for a possible (even more) bear market to buy coins

But generally speaking, it's becoming hard to mine even with newer cards, you have a lot of options

Sell these cards (again, I don't know how many you have) and buy new cards, like 3070 or 3080 and continue to mine
Sell these cards to buy BTC doing DCA
You can put Nicehash and let the app decides what's to mine

I only think that shutdown and wait is not the best idea, because cards will lose value, even for gamers...

STEPN’s Action Plan for Game Economy

Fui olhar a loja e estava quase 6 sol.

2973  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Brasileirão 2022 - Brazilian Championship Serie A on: June 08, 2022, 06:19:45 PM
and some variables that not even Brazilians know hahaah I mean, there's a lot of randomness on the process, quite hard to predict correctly consistently without a crystal ball, if you ask me.

what do you think?

Sure, it's not a certain thing, even in a matches you are sure, nothing is 100% and there's always a probability.
The odds of gambling web sites are the closest we have for a match, the closest math method to predict correctly a game.

I don't know if I understand correct your thought, but the randomness you're saying, for me, are some variables like:

  • Human factor, the player is motivated enough that day? Is he/she feeling good?
  • Climate factor, maybe in some hot places younger players will have more stamina to play, or in a rainy day for example
  • For brazilian soccer, we have some peculiar things like players simulating foul all the time, we have rivalry that I doubt other place has, like Corinthians vs Palmeiras again, a player from Corinthians can't wear anything green, otherwise the fans will complain a lot about that player
  • South American have a word that I can't find a good similar in english: "catimba", and we brazilians can do this too, and how can predict these things?

Above I just said some surface stuff, there's much more to dig, if you want to discuss more I'll be happy to know other variables

2974  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What to do in a bear market on: June 08, 2022, 11:02:39 AM
Exchanges like binances and many others are the main ones that pump scamcoins to make people not see them as scamcoins, so people feel safe to invest in them and then they die but before that binance and other exchanges dump before the coin die, people lose money and then binance and other exchanges create a story about it and stays as it goes, 95% of all altcoins are scamcoins. I lost lot of money in mtgox 2014, almost lost money on btc-e, acted fast on other exchanges before they died, mtgox in 2014 bankruptcy taught me many things.

Also Binance CEO said he lost 1.4 bilion on luna but I'm sure before that he dumped so much luna, he had billions on it, sure he lost small amount of what he had but that he will not tell. One thing I have learned through these years is, exchanges by law are just legal thieves, only leave coins that you are willing to lose. I'm still trying to get my money from mtgox, it's been 8 years and still waiting.

Now I see clearly, I didn't know you are here since that time and that incident. You've been cautious since them, you're calling bear market soon enough to not maximize your gains, but soon enough to not get burned  Cheesy

I have 2 x 3080, I paid 800 usd for each in january 2021, I spent 100 usd to change thermal pads on them, I never bought them to mine, so I will not sell, yes I'm planning to buy 1 x 4090 for that new samsung monitor g8 1196 mini leds at 3840x2160 4k 240hz for gaming.

Can I ask why bought 2x high end cards, paying to change thermals but not to mine?
I'm just asking because SLI is not an option anymore so it doesn't make sense to buy more than 1 card  Cheesy
Confess, you're a miner and bought cards to mine  Grin

If power cost is equal to mining revenue, all the coins go to paying the power bill, and zero are left to HODL. On top of that, the video cards depreciate over time, especially during a bear market. A $380 RTX 3060 card can easily be worth just $200 if ETH went to $900 or ETH went to PoS.

That's why I'm selling half my video cards now, in the hope of building even more rigs if/when the real bear market starts. GPU prices are still above MSRP.

Are you really willing to buy cards in a crash, let's say like you "in the real bear"?
I ask that because I see a lot of people saying that will buy cards or coins when it's cheaper, but when the crash comes, only a few have courage to buy
For example, rx480, 470 were dumped a few years ago, pretty cheap, and I saw some guys buying to gaming pc, but I did not see someone buying to mine, because there were no profits to be made...
2975  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Brasileirão 2022 - Brazilian Championship Serie A on: June 08, 2022, 01:53:14 AM
But anyway... we will have at 8 pm the game between Botafogo x Goias (I believe Botafogo will win, it's just a presumption of my part  Roll Eyes)

Let's see how this game will be!

And Goias won 2 x 0, leaving the demoting zone.

for some games like when it's a favorite team with a really bad team it may be much easier to predict the results than with these classics like fla x flu or palmeiras x corinthians.
of course odds vary because of that too

I see the classic matches only a gamble to have fun, not a match to calculate the odds and bet heavily, because there's many many variables only we brazilians know hehe, a classic Corinthians vs Palmeiras is a fire match, with even some fight, literally fight  Roll Eyes

Unfortuntly i did not bet on flamengo since no one expected that outcome but i did expect corinthians to win since they played against a team with some bad results lately not to mention that corinthians are unbeatable lately plus the odds were really good, as for palmeiras and atletico mg i expected it would be a tough game and it ended with a draw althought palmeiras was a bit better, they both still are only two points away from the first position so this season seem to be a competitive one.

It's competive enough to not have any clue right now who's stronger, just 2 points separating the 1st place

I found a good match to bet (at least for me, not financial advise):

I'll bet on Goias, and these are the reasons why:

1 - Goias got a draw against Palmeiras, Atlético MG and Bragantino, 3 strong teams, with 2 favorites to win the championship
2 - Goias won against Santos and Botafogo, 2 another strong teams, so we can conclude Goias are playing in a good level, and the matches until now are hard, against stronger teams
3 - Now Goias will face Fortaleza, the last team on table, and the focus is Libertadores right now

So I think 6.25 is an incredible odd to take the risk

2976  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What to do in a bear market on: June 07, 2022, 08:39:39 PM
The thing is, most coins, I'd say 95%, are pump and dumps, most altcoins had a 20 or more times rise and then had the same 20 or more times dump, anyway dump is not over yet, will get a lot worse. For example ravencoin, prior bull market 2021, it was 0.007, now around $0.025, it got as high as $0.30 and soon ravencoin might crash to 0.007 again or even lower. This is pow coins, imagine pos coins which are true scam. Don't touch pos coins, if pow coins are bad imagine pos coins, aka luna, solana and other scamcoins.

Hehehe, you consider all altcoins equal?

I know it's pretty hard to keep altcoins in a long term portfolio, and many will end with a bag of coins
In 2017 - 2018 I had a lot of cards and I put 1 or 2 to only mine unknown coins to keep and sell after some time, expecting to be like ETH worthing a few dollars and them more than 100 USD at that time, and I ended with a bag of coins like I said above  Cheesy

BUT there are projects of coins, like BNB and SOLANA as you said as a scam coin, who are supported by exchanges, and in my opinion we can't put in the same category of another coins, because it's a coin people will use daily to pay fees on the exchange or to run a game, example of Solana, and Polygon is another coin. There's as incentive to use
Just my opinion, and I don't like POS coins

Raven coin is a project I thought would be dead right now, but even 4 years later people are still mining and supporting the project, ETC classic is another example for me, a coin holding some value even after some cycles.

2979  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nicehash for mining Bitcoin on: June 07, 2022, 06:24:27 PM
Nicehash, most of the time will reward you less than mining ETH directly

With Nicehash, you're renting your hashing power to another people, so it's normal to receive a bit less than mining directly
If you have 8x RTX 3080s for a year, I suggest you to try by yourself to change and mine ETH right now, I don't know why didn't you try  Cheesy

You can use Gminer, NBminer or PhoenixMiner, and for the pools you can use Ethermine or Flexpool.
If you are familiar with Polygon network, use Ethermine because it's quick to receive your payment, and you can compare with Nicehash
If you need some guidance, just ask

And another tip, you can adjust your overclock, because at least you can get 95Mhs without too much stress on your cards, but most people achieve 99 to 100Mhs  Grin

Well the Copa Libertadores is very good, the only thing is that sometimes I don't know for what reason when the intercontinental cup is going to be played the South American teams can't beat the UCL champion, I don't understand the reason, I only remember when Barcelona played against Neymar's Santos, that at that moment Santos surrendered very quickly, I did not see the magic that Neymar Jr had at that moment, I did not see all the strength that the entire team possessed, that if they had played with the same claw they had In the final the story would have been different.

Considering only the Fifa World Cup of clubs since 2000 (before it's Toyota Cup, and only 1 match), so the "official" is from 2000 until now

We have the south american champions:

  • 2000 - Corinthians (2nd place was Vasco da Gama)
  • 2005 - Sao Paulo (2nd place was Liverpool)
  • 2006 - Internacional (2nd place was Barcelona)
  • 2012 - Corinthians (2nd place was Chelsea)

After the Fifa layout since 2000, only a few teams of South American won against European teams and all of them are Brazilians

Santos with Neymar in 2011 only "watched" Barcelona, it was 4x0, distant from Santos from Libertadores who won with merits, with Neymar, Paulo Henrique Ganso and others, I want to credit que excelent year of the coach Muricy Ramalho.
It looks like Santos had so many players in young ages, and they are not experienced enough to control the anxiety and happiness to play the world cup against Barcelona
But don't forget Barcelona that year had Guardiola, V. Valdés, Piqué, D. Alves, Puyol, Iniesta, Messi and many others hahaha

In the recent years Flamengo and Palmeiras were the favorites to win again a world cup, but they didn't get
