The growth rate of the blockchain is fairly good, the Blockchain is approximately 11 weeks old at a combined rate of 60 mb which makes an estimated size of 275-300 mb a year.

Something you can look into in the future once you hit the 1-2 year mark is that you can load up a complete Blockchain for people to download to sync quickly so by that time it may take several days to sync a full node but if you can download a full copy of the Blockchain, it might only be about 30 minutes.

in 1-2 years internet speeds will have increased enough that a 600 mb download will not take "days". a 600 mb download right now only takes like an hour so i dont think this will actually be an issue.

No it isn't really an issue but download times are much slower when syncing than if you were to have the whole Blockchain available for download from a dedicated site, plus most of the real difference is improving how blocks are downloaded from peers.

275 MB over a year is a really good number (top 10%), Monero is about 3-4 GB a year. This means that there is plenty of time to make all kinds of improvements in efficiency.

I did a little experimenting with downloading from a dedicated site earlier this year and something that can be looked into. The way it would work is you would sync a full node with no balance, make a copy of everything in the roaming folder but the wallet.dat and load it up to a dedicated site. People can download the zip file and sync from where it left off, to sync fully using the wallet can take quite a while depending on the GUI speed but a dedicated host like megaupload can do 600 mb in 15 minutes.

I'm pretty sure working the Blockchain into a torrent would yield even better results.

On this moment we are working on 2 main things, that is In Wallet Trading and the Multicoin Support. How coins going to handle the growing blockchain is not a priority at the moment for any coin, not even for Bitcoin.

The in wallet trading is going nicly, the first tests on the first Exchange had some problems, but that is all resolved. The coding can start for the second exchange.

The Multicoin Support is also in the coding fase. The plan is to start with 2 coins in fase 1, if that all goes well then the expansion will take place to more coins. So in fase 1 from the Multicoin Support we can expect 1 wallet for 2 different coins and in fase 2  we plan to expand the number of coins supported by 1 wallet.

Ok, what about Nubits or Bitcoin as a trading pair? Nubits would be good since it's always pegged at 1 USD.

Have you thought about doing something like Blackhalo which offers smart contracts off-chain?

it would be an all day effort to go round up 30 examples and i have never reported you before.
it's time to just start reporting you guys.. your spamming this place with useless garbage.. ALL the time :/

I don't troll you Speotnik, you just post a lot and I like a lot of the same threads as you do. I don't think badly of you, you are just blunt and so many people here can't take it and start hate threads and it begins to feel like everyone is against you. I have respect for you, you don't take shit and this place needs people that can kick up a stir, otherwise it would to be so boring around here.

How Debates Used To (And Do) Work pt 2

Over 2,300 years ago (around 300-400 BC) Rome was at war with Carthage (in Africa). The way we usually think about history, we think that these two nations must have not really known each other and they must have been after resources. Not true.

Scipio (leader of the Roman forces) and Hannibal (leader of the Carthaginian forces) met to have a debate after the war. Remember, this is 2,300+ years ago, and these guys were able to do this.

They met somewhere in the middle and they literally debated. Scipio asked Hannibal, "Who is the greatest general in history". Hannibal said "Alexander of Macedonia" and Scipio agreed. Then Scipio asked who the second greatest was, Hannibal said "Pyyrhus of Epirus" because boldness is what qualified a general for Hannibal. Then Scipio asked Hannibal who he named third, and he named himself., because he crossed the Alps faster than anyone, surprised the Roman army and had killed a large portion of the Roman army before putting Italy under Martial Law where he was basically a Batman king, saving people and living in mansions.

Scipio asked where Hannibal would have ranked himself if he had not been beaten by Scipio, he said "In that case I should have put myself before Alexander". And Scipio felt good about that because he beat someone who claims to be the superior of Alexander.

I am not saying this is the best debate or the best outcome, but it's a real debate. An Atheists going in to "argue" with a Creationist, is not a debate. That is an Atheist arguing with a Creationist. You need a more specific topic, and usually a question. Then some form of demonstration, by hand or by words.

What is the difference between an atheist? an agnostic? and a creationist? sounds like all the same thing to me.

Oh i envision SpoetnikCoin as ground-breaking, A PHYSICAL BLOCKCHAIN!

Spoetnik thinks that is actually an intriguing idea !

I wonder though wouldn't you have to like try and Crazy Glue the pieces though ? see what i'm getting at ?
You would need way to make sure it's authentic like maybe have a heat stamp press a Penguin with AK into the plastic
centered right on the spot where the pieces match on different rotations or an official Spoetnik hologram sticker put on each lego piece ?

yup.. the future is almost here guys Wink

Yeah you could probably do that by using statistics to build a 3d model of the Blockchain and a robot builds the Blockchain out out Lego, the robot would be called "Spoetbot the Magical Blockchain Builder" and you could do a youtube video out of it.
2989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spoetnik Coin on: October 24, 2014, 05:00:59 PM
You should try experimenting with POS only with fees going to the holders, also it would be best for it to be fully premined over a short period and distributed mostly with trusted escrow, less with exchanges. If you premine the entire thing that also means you can use sha256 for it so you end up with a much slimmer blockchain and you don't have the tens of thousands of inputs that multipools create so you can effectively decrease the size of the blockchain by some 50-60% so with a 2 minute blocktime you might have a 200mb Blockchain after a year.

Multiple loadable wallet.dats so that you can section off your coins in separate wallets so you aren't spending your oldest coins or even have seperate accounts.

Anon that generates masking addresses when sending to other people.

Coin control

Option to send using minimal coinstake

Adjustable Stake thresholds so you can set which the point at which your blocks will split or combine.

Bitmessage for escrow and smart contracts

Statistics (generally all the stuff you see in getinfo)

Stake for Charity

Built in trade api to trusted exchanges

I see about IconicExpert then.. i have had nothing at all to do with DarkCoin so that explains why he is a huge nobody to me.
I take it then he is Wolong of Doge / Pandacoin infamy just on another coin.
And on the scene the user had done fuck all then basically.. showed up tried to pump a coin then left in shame.. so...

Many of us know Fontas.. and i considered him a couple times but was he really much into Altcoins and when late 2012 ? LOL

and thanks for the vote hhaha

Spoetnik, Wolong is a pimply boy who rode on the coattails of the Dogecoin Olympic bobsled promo and claimed credit for the resulting price spike. After proclaiming himself as some sort of a crypto savant, he released a badly-written trading ebook (it's only several pages - enovellette?) that some developers here, shockingly, took as gospel.
I remember the Uro dev reverently talking about the ebook in one of his hangouts. The phrase "weak hands" that is used by many wannabe-traders originated from that ebook.

Wolong was courted by several devs thereafter, but he joined forces with the UNO dev (not Uro) to release Panda after being promised a lucrative cut, including custody of a huge stash of premine and IPO proceeds. After telling everyone to hold, Wolong preceded to sell off the entire stash and crash the market to a few satoshis. He then accused everyone and everything including the kitchen sink of starting the sell off and rode of with a couple hundred BTCs in his pocket. I still don't know though if the UNO dev was part of the scam, or just another victim. Last I heard, a couple of Panda investors actually managed to track Wolong down via hardwarezone.com.sg and received a settlement. Can't confirm it though.

Despite this, people are still clamoring to work with Wolong. Hi-5 coin, anyone?

Re Fontas: He also works with Wolong. He and Molly suffered huge losses in the Panda scam, but I think Wolong covered his losses at least.

I agree, Tranz is a top developer for sure, and very devoted.

How is iGotSpots so "crypto-fabulous" if you don't mind me asking?  I am not all that familiar with a lot of people here on bitcointalk.

Doctors have pleaded for him to stop releasing new coins.
But like a crack addict, iGotSpots can't help it; he haz to release a newz coinz every so often.

How many coins do you think I actually released...? Posting in the thread or helping them when they needed it don't count

As of now, I see five of your coins listed at Cryptsy. There's a couple more that I am unsure of (just second-hand IRC info, so I can't verify if they are indeed yours).
The five though, it's yours. Would you like me to PM you the coin names?
I don't intend to drag the coins' names out in the open without cause, because you've never been a pump & dumper, so I have no reason to FUD over them, without cause.

Please don't say you created Dogecoin or Flappycoin.....

On a side note, what kind of stuff are you most proficient in when working with sourcecode, how good are you when working with fees and block signing?

I don't do gimmicky. Every project I launch has a point. Some are successful, some are not

Anything I can't personally do has someone in my rolodex that can. Fees are pretty straightforward unless you try to get fancy

Yeah just need a bit of help changing fees around so they are destroyed in POW mining but collected in POS and making sure that only POS blocks are being signed.

2996  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lucid Dreaming on: October 23, 2014, 11:24:38 PM

Isn't this thread getting a little off-topic? not sure how most of the chemistry is really relating to lucid dreaming since if you are using herbs/drugs to get the result you are only working within a defined window.

Lucid dreaming is really about concentration and it's been a while since I have done it but I found the best way was to lie on my back, hands folded on my hips or at my side, along with a pitch black room with as little audible stimulation as possible. You want to let yourself fully relax, so try to not move any muscles or tense up your body and try not to focus on your breathing too much. As you relax it will begin to feel as if your whole body begins to get numb/floaty until you start to get a type of ripping sensation in your chest which can feel strange or scary but if you relax and let that sensation increase it begins to feel as though you are ripping out of your body or even spinning and then you are standing in your dream with everything being dark or hard to see and begin to become brighter. It is like being in 2 places simultaneously, you are in a dream and can touch, taste, see, hear but you are still aware you are in your room and can hear things going on.

In the dream world you can do anything, Telekinesis, Jump/fly, energy balls etc. but it's a bit more of a skill, if you find yourself in a place you don't like then start spinning and the entire scene will change. Once you get more proficient you can also find people/places or visit far off worlds.

The key is letting go and staying relaxed, if you are trying to force yourself out, or to stay in the dream it will give you the opposite result.

i would love to live in australia, canada or England!

arent those places expensive?

I spent some time in Australia and New Zealand and I'm from Canada.

Australia is expensive but the pay is better but the drawback are poisonous animals which can make it a little sketchy to go for bushwalks. A plus is that it has the best surfing in the world as well as the great barrier reef, waterfalls, rainforests, sailing, dolphins etc. and flights are really cheap (about $150 to fly Sydney to Brisbane return)

New Zealand is like the adventure capital of the world, pay is pretty shitty compared to basic costs but there are no dangerous animals and soo many things to do like louging, zorbing, skydiving, bungee jumping, exploring underground caves and rivers, hobbiton, natural hot springs and mud baths, jet boating, skiing, glacier trekking. It's a bit weird that police don't carry guns but I guess when it's so hard to get guns and drugs into the country that's its a bit overkill for police to carry anything more than tasers. Also, cheap and super delicious lamb, mmm

Canada is great depending where you live, some places up north or in alberta/manitoba can get pretty cold during the winter but has decent pay, great dining and quality restaurants and probably the best skiing and snowboarding. BC is awesome during the summer, the lakes get quite warm, great of you want to go swimming at 1 am in the morning Tongue Canada is also very multicultural and accepting no matter the color of your skin or sexual orientation.

australia totally

Yup australia is really a nice place, too bad its really costly..

Did you know that Australia has 9 out of 10 of the most venomous snakes in the world? They also have spiders with flesh eating venom and spiders the size of your hand. Kangaroos are really the least of your concern, they are kinda annoying if you hit them on the road but Wombats and Drop Bears are more of a concern since they might attack you and if you hit them they are so solid that they mess up your undercarriage. Oh yeah, you also have a lot of wild dogs, Dingos are really only active on Fraser Island but peoples dogs are probably more dangerous. There are also lots of bats, and you definitely don't want to go swimming in the ocean up north during the wet season because there are a lot of jellyfish and probably not in the rivers either since there are crocodiles, and then there is also fly season.

No wonder they sent prisioners to Australia......

It should be obvious by now that the developers are serious about this coin. However I would advise you guys to be a little more cautious about saying you're holding x-million coins until it hits $1/coin.

It leads people to believe that as soon as a coin gets close to $1, you're going to dump, game over, thank you for playing. I think a better strategy would be to say "once the coin gets to $1, we will plan on phasing out our coin supply to further the developement of the coin, and even out the distrobution of wealth".

If satoshi nakamoto dumped his coins now, it would plummet the price of bitcoin, and possibly destroy the coin simply because it would be seen as "the creator doesn't have faith in the coin".

Just a thought,

-Pickle

If that is what people might think, then I can confirm from my side, that dumping is not the plan at all. We have our roadmap to follow, plans for after the are in place but we can't announce them yet, because it will take time to realize. Let us realize first the things on the roadmap.

What I can say, is that in the future the holders of MWC are going to be the shareholders of what we going to develop after the roadmap. Giving the holders of MWC, besides the 5% interest, a dividend that will be paid 4 times a year depending on the % of MWC that they hold.

This is the most important reason why I wouldn't dump my coins and also why I bought the coins.

An option that can be explored as well is that since fees go back into Staking that if you were to set a higher TX fee within the wallet (settxfee) that it will come back to whoever Stakes. Let's say you want to distribute 100k coins over 10k blocks at 10 coins a Block, you could just have a wallet automatically sending coins with a 10 coin fee back to itself every 2 minutes and just fill up the wallet when it runs low so that in the event that someone broke into the wallet, they would get very little coins.
