2981  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal allows users to withdraw Bitcoin to external wallets on: June 07, 2022, 03:59:01 PM
I hope this should be true, in regard to cryptocurrencies, I see paper worse than Coinbase and other custododial wallets before as you can buy and sell cryptocurrencies supported by PayPal using PayPal but you can neither receive or send cryptocurrencies, but if Paypal users are able to do that now, it is good to hear, although there are varieties of options before that can be used to access crypto and noncustodial wallet. Crypto gives the ability of self custody, I always wonder why people still prefer to use custododial ways to keep their cryptocurrencies in a way they can never have complete control of their coins.
2982  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Profitable are Gambling Bots? on: June 07, 2022, 11:05:23 AM
I am not very familiar with gambling bots, but they are not different from trading bots, trading signals and other things that promise automated process of becoming rich. Everyone knows that free cheese is only in mouse trap, yet people still ask silly questions and try to get rich by doing little or nothing. In my opinion, gambling bots will work until you hit internet lag or you gambling account gets banned. Webpage admin often monitor for automated actions and apply measures to stop it, also, arent such bots prohibited by ToS ?
Gambling bots and trading boths are bots, but trading bots are even better, although trading bots too are not advisable at all, it is better to learn how to trade and trade yourself than falling victim of loss because of trading bots. But gambling bots are much more worse, because it can automatically play for you continuously and you keep on losing money. I have heard about a person that have traded by himself successfully but later tried bot overnight but just woke up to noticed his thousand dollar has been used to gamble by bot and lose all. I will prefer to gamble myself than using bots.

That is why it is good to be wise enough. There are messages like that that do come strange people on Facebook, I usually ignore them and one day a girl chart me up on Facebook messenger, telling me he is a student from a particular university from my country. I know already she is not from my country but pretending to be from my country, she is able to answer my questions very well that I thought she would not be able to answer, but I knew it was a scam. Two days after, she demanded for money. I quite wasted her time, I knew she only wanted to scam, sending me fake nude pictures and videos. The scammers can even be a man, but doing all things possible to convince their victims in a way they can believe them and then demand for money.
2984  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto scam increasing on social media on: June 06, 2022, 11:04:23 AM
I'm going to sound cynical, but I don't care at all that the scammers managed to scam someone on social media.
You are right about all what you said and including this one too, but if exchanges and many other places are to forice their customers to do KYC why are social media not force their users to do KYC? Social media are full of scammers. Anyone on social media are their not to have privacy, requiring them to do KYC will be better if exchanges are to forced their customer to do it.

Information is important in life, people that have knowledge about scam can say people that are scammed on social media and dating sites are foolish, they are foolish but the government can try and reduce this through KYC document requirements.

Although it is truly foolish to intentionally send money to someone that you do not know and that you know he has nothing to lose if the person is gone with your money.

New analysis finds consumers reported losing more than $1 billion in #cryptocurrency to scams since 2021
Social media blamed for $1B in crypto scam losses in 2021

What has the government doing so far to regulate social media like they are regulating exchanges, despite that people that are using social media like Facebook, Instagram and many others do not have privacy, scammers and illicit actors still make use of the same social media to scam people. From just 2021 to 2022 first quarter, people have been scammed over $1 billion on social media. Federal Trade Commission (FCT) found that Instagram (32%), Facebook (26%), Whatsapp (9%), and Telegram (7%) were the top platforms used for crypto scams. Twitter, the social media platform widely adopted by the crypto-community, was not mentioned despite being littered with spam and scam bots touting fake crypto-giveaways.

The funniest to me is that scam is not new on social media, but it is becoming commoner and the scam on social media regard crypto is increasing, definitely all other scam are increasing on social media. When social media is not a place of privacy, why not require for ID documents for better KYC procedure than focusing most only on exchanges
2986  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: what is your favorite bitcoin dice site? on: June 06, 2022, 06:43:46 AM
I will recommend you Rollbit, Duelbit, Roobet and Stake. You can try any of those sites and enjoy playing with cryptocurrencies. You do not have to bother about KYC on many gambling sites you see on this forum on gambling board too.

KYC is a right, but if it becomes double protection for customers, especially from a welcome bonus, it's a form of appreciation from the company to you. Also it doesn't take too long for a KYC process.
The last KYC I did last was on bet365, that was 4 or 5 years ago, it was a long process for me, probably you are use to it. Some people prefer to have privacy than going for KYC. Since I have seen some gambling sites that requires no KYC on this forum, I have preferred to go for such gambling sites instead. Also they are accepting cryptocurrencies.
2987  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kenyan energy company entices Bitcoin miners with geothermal power on: June 04, 2022, 07:27:54 PM
I find it a little ironic that the country's main electricity producer is inviting Bitcoin miners to take advantage and purchase its excess power capacity when 30% of the population still doesn't have access to electricity.[1] Secondly, the producer is offering excess power which is generated from free underground heat and yet Kenya has expensive electricity cost. I don't know, I somehow find this invitation a little odd.

[1] https://tradingeconomics.com/kenya/access-to-electricity-percent-of-population-wb-data.html
From this it seems like they are only interested in making profits out of the miners by imposing taxes on them and earn through them with providing them electricity that they should be providing to the normal residents of the country. They are inviting miners which is good but this should not happen at the cost of people's need there as they are suffering without electricity. So they should focus on these matters also while adjusting mining capabilities.

Some people that do not access electricity in Kenya will be people that are villagers, Kenya is one of the countries in Africa with good electricity, when the largest electricity producer in Kenya knows that it will be profitable for them and profitable for miners, they came up with the good idea. United States has one of the most expensive electricity in the world and have the largest bitcoin miners, the PPP in US is higher than in Kenya, I think this will be good idea.

2988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US energy company opens mining facility in Middle East to use stranded natural.. on: June 04, 2022, 08:52:17 AM
I remember reading that Musk and Dorsey were planning green bitcoin mining together. Also, Tesla was supposed to start accepting bitcoin again when it starts using 50% clean energy so that would play into the narrative. They mine green bitcoin and accept bitcoin for their cars again.
Elon Musk is a clawn, how is Tesla so important that he did not want to accept bitcoin, bitcoin did not depend on a single person or a single country. Tesla do not have to accept bitcoin after Elon Musk propaganda to accept doge.

The number of these green mining plants is going to go up because it's "socially acceptable". They want to appease the dumb crowd who was told that Bitcoin is bad because it's not mined with solar power, but banks who don't use solar power are good and diesel engines are good to, because you have a bank account and your neighbor has a diesel truck, so you can't do anything about it, but hey, at least you can hate bitcoin! Cheesy
Yes, that is true, miners are going towards green energy, leaving the other industries to their carbon producing energies. Solar is not the only green energy. Energy derived from wind, nuclear and renewable energies like well constructed hydroelectric power plant are all green energy.
2989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! on: June 04, 2022, 08:38:58 AM
This didn't age well. A country like El Salvador that doesn't have the financial stability to take this type of decision shouldn't even think about it, look what's happening right now... It will only have a negative reaction due to how much and how constantly BTC changes. Bukele is out of its mind.
I hope people like you will not be among the people that will say that they are too late too know what bitcoin is and how it is an asset that get more value over time. The market do not all the time favour bitcoin, but a means for people that have not invested before to buy and means for people to buy more after selling some. There are times that the price of bitcoin will fall more than rise which is the period we are now. There are times that the bears will become the bulls and new people also fomo and join to invest, the time the rise will be more than the fall, the period of all-time-high. You like it or not, that bull time of all-time-high is coming, the time you will know that El Salvador decision is not a wrong chocie but a right decision.
2990  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best UI/UX Gambling Platform? on: June 04, 2022, 08:26:59 AM
You can check Rollbit and Stake, the sites have good UI/UX

Not clearly a UI/UX enthusiast when it comes to gambling platforms, I'm into more on the customer protection and the same stuff. I know we've been into these casino before that aren't that fancy but still we love to play on it, I guess the UI/UX are just the side dishes for me when it comes to playing in a casino.
Maybe you do not like in-play, I like UI when it comes to live matches. Also a gambling site that do not have a good UI may discourage people and move to the ones that provide good user experience, good interface is part of the good experience customers will see if using a gambling site or any other sites. There are gambling sites that are providing excellent UI/UX and very reputable, having the characteristics that can attract new users.
2991  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causing victim to scam his family on: June 04, 2022, 08:16:59 AM
If the gambler play and does not steal or do anything that might affect their family I guess it's alright but of course, playing gambling is not an easy thing it might cause emotional and mental damage to the player once they lose their assets unless it is just okay to them to let their wage. Still having a small talk and bonding with your friends and family is the best copy mechanism if you get a problem mostly in money involves.
There are different types of addicts if it comes to this, most of the addicts can latter be stealing their parents money, but the time some will start can be long and some will not start to steal but use his own money and properties to gamble. Some gamblers can be discipline to the extent they do not want to hurt any member of their family and will not consider stealing their parent's money as a means to gamble, but any money given them can be used to gamble which is also an addiction, some addicts will not steal for long time and some will not even steal but affected by gambling addiction. It all depends on the situation and the gambler's personality. While gambling should only be considered good when someone is not addicted at all but seeing and doing it as fun.
2992  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The digital ID for Gambling on: June 04, 2022, 08:08:54 AM
I do not think it is about taking kids out of it. I do not think governments are run by morality. The main reason will be what dothebeats said. Government wants to make sure no tax escapes. If government wants to keep kids out of gambling, there should be law on that and it should be enforced.
Probably there could be another way around that the government can follow that can help kids to abstain from gambling, but I do not think there can be a way the kids can abstain from gambling except the government make ways the kids can be know, a useful one is the digital ID, though it can deprive people from privacy, but the privacy that many of us do not even have before. Only few people, like less than 1% out of 100% are still having privacy. There are many sites that are requiring for ID documents and most people are just giving it out, there is no privacy before for many people.

As kids we had our little gambling games without going on the big stage or casinos. How is government going to control street and school gambling with that if not through enforced law at those centres and not some ID thing.
Wow! You reminded me of school gambling, I have just remembered my high school days, we even used solving questions to gamble, like able to solve certain number of questions and have certain number of questions answered correctly. We turn a lot to gambling. The government are not that strict to what is happening among kids so far they do not harm each other and this is not addicting.
2993  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto moving into world. Algo sponsor FIFA on: June 04, 2022, 07:59:09 AM
Dont think I'd call it positive unless the crypto company requires the advertising to gain customers then its justified.  If they spend without getting enough back then its a bit of a waste so Im not sure they will especially.
A company sponsor in a way to grow and develop, by so doing, more people will know more about the company. If Algo is sponsoring FiFA, definitely there will be ads also that would be advertised about the company, I do not see this as a waste of time at all but just a means people to know about Algo, but by so doing, people are also knowing about cryptocurrencies. I do not know the contract between FiFA and Algo yet, but it will most likely be the way I said it.
2994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causing victim to scam his family on: June 04, 2022, 07:52:48 AM
Maybe the gambler plays secretly or playing alone on their own room? That is why they hear nothing other than their own selves but if their family member sees them, they should be concerned at the gambler and one of the ways to know that the gambler is already addicted in gambling is when they stole money from them.
If a gambling addict stole money, you may not know what the gambling addict used the money to do, it could have be so much worse before knowing, like stealing money another time. Gambling addict is very difficult to control and the best to solve things out for themselves as an addict is to let his family know about it. You can even be living with an addict for months and you will never know if you are father or mother to them, just because of the means of accessing gambling sites that is now very easily accessible which can be through mobile phone.
2995  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Session That Lingers On Or Keep Staying On your Mind on: June 03, 2022, 08:18:18 AM
In my opinion, the most dangerous thing in gambling is winning, not losing.

A loss initially prompts a philosophical attitude towards gambling, but a win can cause an inadequate reaction.

Winning is a huge challenge for the psychological balance of the player.  The player needs to prepare in advance to philosophically perceive winnings in gambling.  He should not perceive winnings as his salary (which is known to be paid regularly).

Winning is random.  Fate and chaos are very scary opponents for a careless player.

A person that stake with low amount of money and win thousands of dollars at once, is that dangerous? A person that gamble and lose, win, lose again does that means the person can not become addicted to gambling? No mater how someone is gambling, the person would win and lose, those are normal to happen.

Because someone lost a bet the first time does not mean he will not gamble again.

Nothing change the fact that it is loss that causes depression and the reason for someone not to get addicted because addiction will offer more loss.
2996  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Kenyan energy company entices Bitcoin miners with geothermal power on: June 03, 2022, 08:07:27 AM
https://cointelegraph.com/news/kenyan-energy-company-entices-bitcoin-miners-with-geothermal-power

Quote
The country’s main electricity producer has issued a general invite for Bitcoin miners looking to take advantage of its renewable energy facility near the capital, Nairobi.

Kenyan energy company KenGen has put out a call to Bitcoin miners to move nearby and buy its excess renewable power capacity.

KenGen claims 86% of its energy is generated from renewable sources, mostly geothermal from pockets of ground source heat in the Great Rift Valley. Local news outlet The Standard reported that KenGen has space at its new industrial park in Olkaria, near its flagship geothermal power station, which could be rented to Bitcoin (BTC) miners.

The Acting Director of geothermal development at KenGen Peketsa Mwangi said that his company was willing and eager to have the miners call Kenya home.

Bitcoin is going more green, see a country electricity producer calling out for crypto miners to come to their country for crypto mining to mine with green energy, the electricity producer in Kenya, KenGen said 86% of their electricity generation are generated from renewable source. Bitcoin mining is becoming a business in the world that some organizations in a country see that they can make profit from. This will favour Kenya government in earning from bitcoin mining.
2997  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: June 03, 2022, 07:50:42 AM
Name the club that can fight Real Madrid in La Liga?  Roll Eyes Even if Real have some less effective striker instead of Benzema? I think that the next season will start with the fact that the bookmakers will quote the Real championship as 1.3-1.4.
The transfer windows is not close yet, some people can not just conclude about this and think Real Madrid will lead next season. For a good club like Real Madrid, it is normal that the odd against other clubs can be low, but this also goes to Barcelona and Atletico. The beginning of the season will be tough, the odds can only get lower when the team of each clubs have been known with their potential and the extent they are winning which will be used to determine the odd to use. Clubs like Barcelona and Atletico Madrid has always be Real Madrid competitor in La Liga.

If someone says Real Madrid defense is weak, then what is the most losing goals ever conceded to Real Madrid, Real Madrid have Courtois the greatest goalkeeper and even though they escape the Real Madrid defense but will not have a chance to score a goal from goalkeeper Courtois.
Because of what happened in Champions League final with Liverpool, that does not mean the goalkeeper can do it alone, the defenders also are very important, Courtois is a good goalkeeper but the strength of the defense is not about the goalkeeper only, also the defenders have great role to play, else, that will be difficult for the goalkeeper.

US energy company opens crypto mining facility in Middle East to use stranded natural gas

Some critics, especially bitcoin mining critics have always said that bitcoin PoW is not environmentally friendly, but over 50% of mining hashrates are generated from renewable energy and bitcoin miners are going more towards carbon-free environment, although people are concentrating on bitcoin and not facing what is happening in the real world, even if all bitcoin mining hashrates  are 100% generated from green energy, that does not change the global warming resulting from cutting of tress, shrinking of forests and the release of global warming gases from human activities.

Bitcoin miners are going more green and will be one of the industry that will likely go 100% of using green energy in the world.

On Wednesday, June 1 Bloomberg reported that Crusoe Energy, an operator repurposing wasted fuel energy to the computational power of crypto mining, would start its work in Oman, a nation that exports 21% of its gas production and seeks to zero gas flaring by 2030.

The American company will open an office in the capital city of Muscat, and install its equipment for capturing gas waste at well sites. It already held a workshop with the Omani largest energy producers, OQ SAOC and Petroleum Development Oman. The first pilot project will be launched by the end of this year or in early 2023, according to Crusoe’s CEO Chase Lochmiller.

Oman’s government interest in the partnership is driven by an aim to cut the country’s gas flaring — burning off the excessive flammable gas in the process of extraction. Together with Algeria, Iraq, Lybia, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Oman accounts for 90% of flaring in the Arab region, while the region itself accounts for 38% of global flaring. In 2018, by the UN’s Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia estimate, 10% of all the gas consumption in Oman went for flaring.

Instead of gas flaring, converting gases that suppose to be waste to electricity and use to mine bitcoin has been a great move miners are approaching.

Sorry, but I don't understand your point. What does this have to do with Google being a phishing lord?
That quote did not fully explain what I am saying, it is only just part of it. To put it into summary, I agree that google is a phishing lord and many people have been scammed just because of google ads, but without government discipline, this may not be alleviated because google do not that care unless something intervened. But this is not happening, it is better for people to just know how to avoid ad scam and avoid to click on ads.
3000  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The digital ID for Gambling on: June 02, 2022, 08:47:56 AM
For few reasons this is good.

  • Important one is the kids getting into gambling can be restricted.
  • Government is able to tax the gamblers.
  • Casinos have the advantage of solving issues, if someone have tried to cheat.
  • It is possible to easily keep track of gamblers getting into addiction. Measures can be taken by giving break to those users.
That is true that the new ID can help to restrict the kids and under 18+ from gambling and also make tax be more possible by the government but Casinos do not have any more advantage to solve issues or you can explain more about this.

Gambling platforms without with just verification can keep track record of their users, some have ways to limit their users from gambling with large amount of money but to limit their users from gambling is not effective and as I understand it, the gambling sites do not care about you, your property or anything about you, the best way is to not just get addicted because no other best way solves anything related to gambling addiction.
