I'd say something along the lines of that you are an aspiring porn star, and hope that they can help you advertise

I'm 77 in June, and I suspect that may not lead to a prosperous future. I was a HADLer, then I became a HUDLer, and now I'm more of a HEDLer, so I think my new career will have to be as a HODLer.

ps, I was going to say I'm a HIDLer, but I thought that could be misinterpreted.
2982  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Steemit. How to promote your account on: February 21, 2019, 05:54:44 PM
My account on Steemit is upr8 , and I've got a couple of hundred followers. Is it worth trying to revive it do you think?

Can I use the account to help you?
2983  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting started with Google Authenticator on: February 21, 2019, 05:20:31 PM
I use Google Auth to check my BAT wallet. It's pretty easy to use if you follow the instructions.
2984  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk is Dying? on: February 21, 2019, 12:51:19 PM
A healthy tree is not dying because you prune the dead wood.

To those of you who would like to see more healthy discussions, there is a simple solution - start quality discussion threads, and contribute to those that have already been started. I thought that my coffee lounge thread in the Ivory Tower might create some interesting opinions. In fact there have been some good replies, but it is pretty much ignored. Sometimes I start to think that members are only interested in pushing their signatures.
2985  Other / Serious discussion / Re: I've just received this scam email. on: February 21, 2019, 11:04:07 AM
The real interest for me is in the source of the email address harvesting. I registered the domain name to see how risky it really was to include email addresses in posts. I had a bit of initial activity, and then things died down as I forgot about the project. I should probably have tried to tie the mail to the source, but I didn't really have time. Anyway, I've deleted the account, and I'll put the name up for sale.

Anyway I'm keeping the McDonalds promo bean stuck over the camera lens. It reminds me that I drink too much coffee. Smiley

2986  Other / Politics & Society / Re: California attempts to solve student housing crisis with-- students in cars? on: February 21, 2019, 10:03:20 AM
You can't have capitalism without capital. and since the  1970s the City of London bankers have been removing capital, and taking control of assets all over the world. Fractional reserve banking, and the removal of debt restriction have caused massive inflation in asset values. The sale of government assets to the CoL trusts held in tax havens has made it harder for local authorities to continue to provide subsidised services.

I wouldn't fancy living in a car, but a custom modified large van does have a lot of appeal for me at the moment. It would be a better idea for students than the converted sea containers that are on the increase in many areas.
2987  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Steemit. How to promote your account on: February 21, 2019, 09:23:29 AM
My concern with Steemit was that business about paying to promote posts, nd that seemed to be their only source of revenue. This is why I started to think it was a sophisticated ponzi. I'd love it if someone could explain why this is incorrect, as I need some more platforms that pay for content.

I've been experimenting with the Brave browser, and they have just introduced paid advertising, and the ability to share the revenue with their supporters. I can understand that business model.
2988  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Steemit. How to promote your account on: February 21, 2019, 07:16:46 AM
When I first openened an account with Steemit, I created a clubroom for members to help each other with upranking, I called it Steem Rewards. I backed away from Steemit when I started to get request to pay $100+ amounts to promote my posts. I decided that it had the appearance of a ponzi as a result of this. That was a good few months ago, and maybe it has matured enough for me to revisit the project. It would be useful for me to find some more sites that reward content producers with crypto.
2989  Other / Meta / Re: How can we protect Newbies from getting scammed? on: February 21, 2019, 07:07:52 AM
Surely it isn't just the newbie account that include scammers. In fact, it's probably more likely that purchased senior accounts will be scammers.
2990  Other / Meta / Re: Prevent banned users from changing profile data on: February 21, 2019, 07:05:13 AM
Shouldn't banned users be banned from logging in, and not just banned from posting?
2991  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The mind of a HODLer on: February 21, 2019, 07:02:17 AM
They make trading incredibly complex, and I'm not sure that it is justified, given the quantity of wash trading and other manipulation. I backed away a bit from TA, and all I do is to trade EMA crosses, and I don't use gearing. It's starting to help me to build my Bitcoin wallet, but it's pretty slow, and I don't make spectacular profits.

I find it really interesting to watch the market activity, and it does help me to get a better understanding of the potential for crypto.

[COFFEE BREAK UPDATE]

We've just gone though a death cross on the 15 minute EMA, and I'm pleased that I have no open positions at the moment. Well maybe I have from a conceptual position. My account balance is solely in Sterling, so that means I am long in GBP, and short in Bitcoin. I'll wait for a golden cross, and I'll open a couple of buy positions.
2992  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Do you give panhandlers money? on: February 20, 2019, 08:43:55 AM
No I don't, and Trudeau is a panhandler. He is the public face of the rape of Canada, and is transferring assets to the banking elite. One of their activities is the promotion of drug abuse, as this reduces potential opposition, and creates social unrest and criminal action.
2993  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The mind of a HODLer on: February 20, 2019, 08:38:29 AM
But most people are capable of developing more than one skill. For example, one can be  good statistician, and a good gardener, and the knowledge gained in each discipline can help in the other. With fiat money, one can have a long term savings account which is kept for a specific project in the future, at the same rime one can have a current account that can be used for daily transactions.

I decided that using fiat savings for Bitcoin price speculation ( or another alt ) was a way to build my HODL wallet. My point is that the two disciplines can coexist, but one has to be strong willed enough to leave HODL deposits untouched, and not to use them for price speculation. You must follow this rule even if you are sure that Bitcoin is in a bear market.
2994  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The mind of a HODLer on: February 19, 2019, 04:45:38 PM
The HODL approach of price averaging is really a form of trading. I can understand your problem with spending Bitcoin, it's the reason that I can't bring myself to buy alts - most of the exchanges seem to require this.

The only way I can split between trading and HODLing is to have two accounts. I have my HODL accounts, which are controlled by Core nodes, and I don't ever withdraw from them. My trading account on CoinBase Pro is completely separate, and I have to block the thought that I am actually trading Bitcoin. I did have a temptation to move some Bitcoin over to CoinBase when I wanted to short, but I really need to  avoid doing that. I need to speculate with fiat, and not with real money like Bitcoin. I can, and do, log in using the Tor window in the Brave browser. Haven't had any problems so far.

Well I do my bit in trying to keep things going by posting in Serious Discussion and Ivory Tower. Have you guys considered that some people may think that you are only here for the sig spamming if you don't contribute to those boards?

Do the whales have emotions? I thought that they just had spears to harpoon the minnows.
2998  Other / Meta / Re: ⭐ Forum chronicle - UP Rank List - Congratulations! (BPIP Merit stat, Trust) ⭐ on: February 19, 2019, 01:51:05 PM
It isn't as simple as that. I started with 500 air dropped merits. Then you have to consider the Hero or other rank who has 1,000+ earned merits, but is light on activity.

Most of it is available as a plugin for SMF, but the recording may not be worth the server overhead.

This is the woodburner that I bought. I think it is called a pellet stove because of its size, and you are supposed to buy fuel pellets for it, but I haven't seen them for sale anywhere. It seems to work well with kindling and thick twigs. I liked the fact that the chimney outlet is at the rear, so you can use it for cooking.. One problem is that it requires an 80mm chimney, and most stoves use 120mm. I'm using a flexible truck exhaust pipe, as I haven't decided where to install it yet. In fact I haven't really decided on the internal layout for the van. That will depend on the primary function for its use. It could be for touring, getting rid of my old possession, an off-grid comms centre, or a base for vintage machinery shows.

ps. The CO tester was one of my first purchases, and I don't use propane for heating because of the exhaust risk, as well as the fuel cost.
