Hear! Hear!

Quote
Every year the American historian William Blum publishes his "updated summary of the record of US foreign policy" which shows that, since 1945, the US has tried to overthrow more than 50 governments, many of them democratically elected; grossly interfered in elections in 30 countries; bombed the civilian populations of 30 countries; used chemical and biological weapons; and attempted to assassinate foreign leaders.

In many cases Britain has been a collaborator.

I am compelled to add this here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A05s6GrztbQ

Kherson Governor Yury Odarchenko during a speech on the 9th of May, stated that Hitler tried to liberate Ukraine by invading it. One brave soul from the public comes forward and deprives him of the microphone.

This resonates with the first picture of the thread.

And another:

Ever heard about the Tank man from China?

Well.... here is an image from Mariupol, of a civilian trying to stop a Right Sector-controlled tank. No idea what happened to him afterwards.

Ukraine communist leader: Kiev labeled 7 mn people 'terrorists,' slaughtered civilians
http://rt.com/news/158744-ukraine-terrorists-civilians-killed/

Quote
The leader of Ukraine’s Communist Party says the Kiev regime killed peaceful civilians in the country's southeast, and is spreading lies about the real situation. The Ukrainian parliament is now seeking to expel communists and ban their activity.

Quote
“You declared seven million people living in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions as 'terrorists.' They went out yesterday [to vote in the referendum], stood in lines since 6 a.m. to vote against Kiev rule, against this regime, against your policy,” he said.

Quote
“At the Victory Day celebration, he says that Hitler did the right thing when he invaded our country to ‘liberate’ the people of Ukraine from communists. This was said by a person who is either an idiot or a thug,” Simonenko said.

Odarchenko responded by saying he will sue Simonenko.

“I am suing you for a bald-faced lie, for slander, for cowardly and shameful propaganda,” Odarchenko told the Communist Party leader.

Though Odarchenko says Simonenko's accusations are a lie, the moment when he said the statement about Hitler was caught on video.

This video needs to be seen, just to get a feeling of the people's reaction. Most were shouting their protest. One brave soule came forward to end this monstrosity.

One important reader comment to that video:

She went after the message.
Fascists go after the messenger.

Very important to note.

Should have probably started a new thread on this, but...

NATO sailors ‘behave like occupiers’, Latvian mayor complains
http://rt.com/news/158804-latvia-nato-occupiers-mayor/

Quote
Crewmembers of NATO warships deployed to the Latvian port city of Ventspils are behaving like occupying forces, who don’t consider local laws apply to them, the mayor of the city charged. This discredits the alliance in the eyes of Latvians, he added.

“NATO sailors in Ventspils were behaving like pigs, ignored Latvian laws and municipal rules,” Aivars Lembergs told LETA news agency. “Drunk, they urinated in public, right on shop windows, vomited, drank in public, which is not allowed. They picked flowers from flowerbeds and gave them to prostitutes.”

Lembergs, a vocal critic of Latvia’s cooperation with NATO, added that the foreign military personnel “behaved like occupiers, who do not recognize Latvia’s sovereignty.”

What were they expecting. This behaviour pattern is known from other places, like Japan, but there such image is heavily suppressed. At least Latvians are not pushing it under the rug.

Kiev military unit shoots at Russian journalists after fight near Kramatorsk
http://rt.com/news/158760-ukraine-military-russian-journalists/

Quote
“We saw that machines were gone and the shooting stopped like half-an-hour ago. We tried to enter the premises of the village to find out what happened to locals, if they needed help, and if there were wounded among them,” reporter Oleg Sidyakin told RT. “But as we got closer to the outskirts of the village, we ran into an armored troop carrier with a Ukrainian flag on it and armed people in black uniforms. We were going in a car with 'TV' stickers, indicating that were are press. We stuck hands out of windows, but first there came one shot and then machine gun fire.”

Those black uniforms... Reminds me of this article:

Fighting between Kiev’s army and local self-defense groups broke out in the afternoon near Oktyabrskoe.

“It was around noon. The Ukrainian army was taking ammunitions to the city of Kramatorsk,” local resident Vladimir told RT, citing his friend Aleksandr, who lives nearby. “There is the village of Oktyabrskoe, where there is a bridge [on the way]. Our self-defense blew up a vehicle with ammunition and set Kiev’s APC on fire,” he said.

2988  Other / Politics & Society / State Department buying massive cache of explosives, journalists claim on: May 13, 2014, 07:32:51 PM
Couldn't pass this by:
http://rt.com/usa/158700-state-dept-order-explosives/

Quote
The Department of State is shopping around for hundreds of pounds of plastic explosives and detonator devices, a new report reveals, raising concerns regarding an American agency that usually deals with foreign policy, not dynamite procurement.

Quote
“For what purpose is the department making these purchases? How – and where and by whom – will these explosives be used?” the reporter asked.

According to WND’s second report in two days on the matter, a State Dept. public affairs specialist laughed and said, “I’m not sure what you’re looking for.”

“WND is pressing the federal department to explain how the explosives fit with its mission to ‘shape and sustain a peaceful, prosperous, just, and democratic world and foster conditions for stability and progress for the benefit of the American people and people everywhere,’” Peacock wrote. So far, though, those attempts have proved to be unsuccessful.

Quote
Also among the items the State Dept. expressed an interest in buying are detonating chords “designed to maximize explosive efficiency [and] provide the operator with a variety of options for external and close quarter breaching,” and a “Water charge used to defeat inward and outward opening metal doors, rollup garage doors, dry walls, and hollow block walls.”

Any ideas what for..?

As soon as commercial space companies pick up steam the US should easily surpass Russia in terms of space technology. Frankly I think we are still ahead but it won't even be close. American private corporations will be far more effective than Russian government bodies that are rife with corruption and quality control issues (Those last two items are not my opinions, those are facts. Russia has a serious problem with corruption in military technology and development and they struggle with quality issues.)

Now, American government-funded programs do suffer from the same issues but American corporations suffer less than Russian ones do in that respect. Russian corps are far more interwoven with the government than their American counterparts are.

dogechode, I agree with your entire post, save for the last sentence. Smiley You could say that American corps are the government acting through a series of middlemen.

Personally, if they want independence, I have no issues with that, but I ca't imagine Putin allowing that to happen, and would guess that he would do everything he can (seeding unrest, propaganda, ballot stuffing) to add those regions to Russia. My concern is that those people would quickly find out that being a part of Russia is not as great as it sounds, but the difference is that, while they could easily protest and secede from Ukraine, doing that while being a part of Russia would quickly invite an overwhelming force, followed by long jail terms for whoever came up with the idea.

Can't see that on Putin's agenda now - too expensive both politically and economically. These two regions may end up acting as buffer states, that what Ukraine was expected to be.

Of course, if NATO sends its bombers and hardware to those two regions (they are already discussing the latter), then the game would change.

In the meantime, Russia is shaming EU Smiley

Lots of interesting quotes from political experts in that article... I'll indulge quoting one. Smiley

Quote
Sleboda stated that when examining Donetsk and Lugansk referendums, one must pay attention to three things. “One, the extremely large turnout, which is nearly impossible to deny. The overwhelming landslide victory – since the vote was essentially public with the glass ballot boxes and the Western journalists who served in place of international monitors, we could say, who clearly informally polled on the ground the strength of support for the independence vote.”

“And three, we have to remember that this did indeed happen under the barrel of a gun – but not the barrel of the gun of the self-defense forces, but under the barrel of the gun of this Kiev regime who was actually killing voters as they tried to vote against it on the referendum day,” he argued.
