301  Local / India / Re: Bitcoin declared illegal in India? on: March 24, 2017, 10:25:48 AM
Many things have been declared pretty much illegal according to indian law. However, given the state of corruption in all levels of the government and even among the locals. Add to the fact that a good bitcoin holder with the relevant knowledge would be pretty hard to find, how do you supposed it will even be enforced if it is banned? Haha
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin’s Final Obituary? on: March 24, 2017, 10:23:06 AM
Yet another "Will Bitcoin die again post" , haha

Simply put, bitcoin has proved to be the unkillable cryptocurrency. Fear of adoption has been lived through, fear of an alternative crypto taking over (like eth) is also not really possible given the state of ltc or eth. Bitcoin has pretty much outlived all bad market and investor sentiment to continue being a strong competitor to one day replace fiat currencies.

I am a core supporter, however I acknowledge the need for faster transactions. If only there was another way to solve the problem instead of being a battle between 2 Goliaths (Core or BU).

Like many others have mentioned, a soft fork might not be a good thing, if a hark fork really happens and the current core chain is still widely supported and get longer than BU, bitcoin still survives. If BU gets all miners to their side, bitcoin still survives, abeit not the way I hope it to happen.
303  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-03-24] Hyperledger Bond Trading Platform Goes Open Source on: March 24, 2017, 10:13:00 AM
A bond trading platform built on top of Hyperledger's Sawtooth Lake distributed ledger was made open source this week, alongside a release of a demo of the technology.

The project, first announced in September 2016, was designed to demonstrate how bond trading and settlement can be streamlined using distributed ledgers. Created in partnership with the R3 consortium and eight participating banks, the working proof-of-concept has now also been displayed as a public demo on Sawtooth's website.

The no-frills platform uses a blockchain to track and categorize transactions including holdings, receipts and settlements.

Also featured is a portfolio-tracking section that lists the name, coupon rate and principal values of bonds held on a user's individual account, and a search allowing users to look up bonds by CUSIP code, yield and price.

The open-source code for the proof of concept is also now listed on GitHub for anyone to use. However, the page states that the platform needs further investment before it can be taken into production.

304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC models on: March 24, 2017, 07:42:16 AM
I need Bitcoin models than explain the blockchain.
I want to use these models to explain how BTC blockchain operates to skepticals and newbies. Most people prefer visual constructions.

What is the most easy-to-understand yet legit model to explain BTC?

I will thank the very good replies in my research Wink

You mean u want a blockchain model that explains bitcoin.

Bitcoin uses a blockchain as its form of public ledger. A blockchain has more uses than simply being for bitcoins.

It would be much easier to explain the sending and receiving portions separately to the mining process.
305  Other / Off-topic / Re: Need 0.02 BTC loan, Repayment: 0.025-0.03 BTC on: March 24, 2017, 04:36:29 AM
A guy selling multiple money making methods and gambling site script that will make tons of money and now asking for a $20 dollar loan. Hmm fishy. This guy needs a red trust for scammy behaviour

Check his posts

I lend my 3.576 BTC for my cousin's wedding reception. Id be able to double $20 in gambling myself using my own strategy but it was too late. I need to rush the lend. The payment has been overdue already so. Yeah i have money making method and some gambling scripts for sale over the market, I dont want to be selfish , i shared my methods to people whom in want long term profit. I need 0.02 btc , will double it using my strategy, pay my phone bills, and pay the loan 0.025. I guess you want some sort of escrow arrangement? If so, then its fine as long as you will cover the fees if theres any.

Would love to see the TX for the 3.576btc. You are the one who wants the loan, but you want the borrower to pay for escrow? In other news, you account is really not worth even 0.01. "or 0.03 to be repaid when it gets due" is not collateral. Why don't you put your rig or your scripts for collateral, if they even work. Last thing, you have not added your reason for requesting the loan in your op.

Even than, I doubt anyone would loan you the amount you requested
306  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Buy over 45k ebooks $5 on: March 24, 2017, 03:55:57 AM
I have over 45k ebooks that I want to sell.
I will provide the links and you just click the get and you can download individual ebooks.
Purchase this deal and sell on the ebooks individually
Dont ask for a list as its too long to list.
All genres, all kinds of books including new releases.
Will offer 3 vouches for hero members or members with a very high post count.
No escrow $5 bitcoin only.
pm me for details. I am unsure of which autobuy everybody likes so I will hang on till I am a bit longer here.

If what you are offering are download links using some obscure sites instead of providing codes or links for the buyer to own the books permanently. Why should I not use other free book trackers or lib gen instead?

Using which way are you going to provide the courses? Using downloaded courses materials or by selling 100% off coupon codes for said courses? Any vouch copies you are willing to offer?
308  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] CS:GO, TF2, Dota2, Steam & Other Items on: March 23, 2017, 08:53:26 AM
Hi there Gregc1131, given that your prices are so damn low compared to other bots and sellers. Give us some reasons why we shouldnt sell our skins using OpSkins instead? They are trusted and have fees to pay but are still offering much more than you do?
309  Economy / Digital goods / Re: WTS website same btc-e.com on: March 23, 2017, 08:42:42 AM
Is there any use case for this other than to scam people? No.

Is this against the rules? Probably not. Undecided
What your mean?

The only reason why anyone would want to buy a site template literally modeled after btc-e is to use it for phishing. For example, send scam emails telling a user to reset his password but giving a link to btc--e.com maybe instead of the legit btc-e.com. If your script is that good like you claimed, there is no need to imitate btce to such an extent.

How are you planning to deal with illegal things?

The platform is for students , children and parents so illegal products / ads  would not be entertained .

And how would you go about doing that?
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]💎[MBIT]💎🔹💎MBITBOOKS💎🔹💎SHARING KNOWLEDGE FOR HUMANITY🔹💎📚📚📚[POW] on: March 23, 2017, 05:14:02 AM
Is there a reason why you have not been active or posting since 2015?

@op You know coming up with a good story doesnt cover up the fact that you did not mention how users are supposed to upload the books

1. How different is this from LBRY?
2. Launching a scrypt coin means you have not done research beforehand
3. I have a doubt as to why you are suddenly active after more than a year of hiatus

@albanes Do you actually read the full post that op created before sig spamming?

MBITBOOKS is using scrypt as a proof-of-work algorithm.

Code:
5 minute block targets
subsidy halves in 810K blocks (4 years)
81 million total coins
Premine percent 20% (Development + Marketing + Bounties)
40 coins per block
10 mins to retarget difficulty

312  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: This is a Picture of a Private Key on: March 22, 2017, 03:05:49 PM
It might seem like a problem to lawmakers but to layman users like my non tech savvy friends the hashes are simply wallet addresses or wallets. It would be a problem telling such people that it is their public key. The moment they hear that, I have to explain the whole process of pki  /cryptography / hashes every single time to convince them that it is near impossible to reverse (with current tech)

That is a very nice and concise example though
313  Economy / Reputation / Re: Quartx & Timelord2067 - are gossips and a liar on: March 22, 2017, 10:24:44 AM
Saying you're an alt of someone else doesn't necessarily mean you're doing something illegal or shady. It's just so the community is aware that they are (or in some cases could potentially be) alts. The reason this is done is that if one of these accounts scams they all get tagged right away and the scammer doesn't get off with much. It's not personal. It's to protect the community from nefarious people.
The fact of the matter is that their statements without arguments are not true!where is the proof?

If there is no proof or its not enough to show a strong connection it will be ignored in case of negative ratings. Timelord sometimes posts ideas and potential connections they cant proof.

Oh hello there shorena, since I am involved in cryptobank web of lies counter argument, lets list down a list of facts i found (or as cryptobank calls it gossip and lying rofl) (Sry, I just wanted to say hi although you probably no longer remember me)

1. What is the difference between stating facts vs "gossiping and a liar" , I guess everyone knows

cryptobank had the audacity to label information that I found simply using the information they provided like the kelli trading lp, nowi setlus corp, as gossiping and lying? Like any potential investor would, I merely searched on given information from "cryptobank", information like the kelli trading lp gave, like how one would research on brochures and company statistics when finding ETF options to invest.

2. While researching on ops alleged bank, I found out that his so called bank does not exist (no financial securities were registered or filed.)

3. I indeed found many vulnerabilities in cryptobanks website (which looks atrocious and not detailed enough if crytobank claimed to invest lots of effort into.) that I shall no disclose and let cryptobank perform a security audit on their own.

4. I accidentally found the exact same thread op had by a guy called partner who had a preclusion of an ico dated 14 MARCH

Cryptobank claimed as you can easily see in their still online thread that they merely showed the article to "partner" as he was guiding them on making banners, who "stole their thread" and posted without permission.

Later on, cryptobank ownself admitted in the user gather connected account thread that "partner" was actually "a skype friend" (yet another change of words), and that they had wanted an ico from the start (which also meant cryptobank actually has more premine holdings than they are publicly telling us about).

Note that cryptobank also had another thread created on 19 March which was deleted by mprep for incentivising his thread. Which lead to the last thread created on the 20 March

TLDR:
I merely listed out facts I found using information crytobank gave themselves for everyone to see. cryptobank has time and again spend days trying to proof that everyone who questioned him on the information I found were liars and gossipers, using nothing but effective slander. cryptobank himself on the other hand, have told us and admitted to numerous lies about his connection with persons and assets from the data collected, shunning all questions and refuting them by simply asking "whats the proof" and creating many such threads to waste valuable server space.

By listing out Kelli Trading LP in his own thread, he or them has already forfeited any accounts of privacy, yet when questioned on his own company, he has nothing to say but claim "it is not ours?" If he claims it is just an offshore company, would you purchase a real life investment property if you found out the investment personnel involved had a high chance of running away?

The verdict is out for everyone to see, and archived too. I have never accused anyone of things they are not for anyone that knows me, I merely state facts which have now turned against me as a liar (I am still laughing at this point)

EDIT: EVEN SHORTER TLDR:

Would you invest in something whose owners shun all your legal politically correct questions by asking for proof yet not showing how trustworthy he or she is, but rather wastes resources on trying to incite a riot trying to silence all question askers? Just leaving this fun fact here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1834796.msg18288560 http://archive.is/GkPju
314  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get own bitcoin wallet on: March 22, 2017, 03:18:58 AM
hello, can anyone tell me that how we can start own bitcoin windows wallet like:Coinbase, Unocoin and others.
And how much it cost to have own bitcoin wallet?
And having own bitcoin wallet is safe or not?
Thanks.  Smiley

By starting own bitcoin wallet what do you mean? Did you buy your account?

Coinbase is a web wallet/exchange, unocoin is also a web wallet. Coinbase does not have a desktop wallet, and it is usable not just on windows

Neither are desktop wallet. If you mean you want to start a new web wallet provider to scam people of their money, if you do not know how to calculate the cost of opening one, you should not open one.

Money does not fall from the sky, neither does getting rich by trying to scam people.

web wallets are never safe. Even desktop wallets arent exactly safe.

These are all things a full member should know Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: transaction doesn't show up on: March 22, 2017, 02:27:35 AM
i always check blockchain, and it shows up w/o confirmations. it usually says "unconfirmed"

this time there is just nothing there.

If your electrum is v 2.8.0 and above have your tried the fee bump option? Right click the tx in history and select fee bump, if it is available, bump up the fees to around 200 sats per byte, that should get confirmed the fastest
317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is anyone please able to confirm these transactions? Been stuck for almost 24 hr on: March 22, 2017, 02:02:24 AM
How can I reset this? When I sent the third transaction, it must have grabbed a small change from the unconfirmed FIRST transaction to me, and now the 40 bucks from the legitimate CONFIRMED payment I received are tied up and being unconfirmable as well?

How can I simply make this reset, drop out of the blockchain, so the sent btc is returned to whoever spent it in the first place ( those 40 bucks from the legitimate transaction will go back to my wallet, since it was confirmed )?

You still have not told us what wallet you were using, if it is blockchain.info wallet, please do not use it anymore, if you were using bitcoin core you should be able to use the zapwallettxes option. However if you are using the online wallet you might need to find support or someone else to help you. Double spending might help.

If you try to send the 0.03726477 btc from 1GGK3zYHYTjyrL1cxsZFYaDwnf36gcvZUH back to another address you own with a higher fee and it gets mined and confirmed by a miner your third unconfirmed tx should be voided. That is assuming you have control of 1GGK3zYHYTjyrL1cxsZFYaDwnf36gcvZUH

Yes, I am using Blockchain's web wallet. And yes, the address 1GGK3zYHYTjyrL1cxsZFYaDwnf36gcvZUH belongs to my wallet. But how can I resend it to another address - the funds are marked as gone, and I cannot reset them.

EDIT: Hold on, not sure if this is one of my addresses... Gotta check...

EDIT 2: Yes, this is indeed one of my own addresses.

Your only way now is to contact blockchain support, if they even exist or reply at all, please if you get your funds back, never ever use an online wallet ever again for anything whatsoever.

I understand. What about the 3rd transaction though? It was spent from an address that received a transaction that was indeed CONFIRMED. And it is still pending too.

Your third transaction had two input addresses, of which the first one https://blockchain.info/address/1QB6Dob23Y2uJme2H66TExwhRu5uG3zkSk

has more than 5 unconfirmed txs linking all the way back to the same tx as your first and second transactions, any more questions?
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is anyone please able to confirm these transactions? Been stuck for almost 24 hr on: March 21, 2017, 03:02:32 PM
Appreciate the speedy response. I had no idea I actually have to deal with setting the miner's fee by myself - never had an issue with Blockchain confirmations so far, always using the recommended fee ( thought that was calculated in real time, to accommodate network congestion ).

You being unable to find the transactions outside of Blockchain means they were never broadcasted, doesn't it? What can I possibly do to speed them up? If I had known I needed to set up the miner fee manually, I would have done so...

The initial transaction where you received https://blockchain.info/tx/883e646c1b988c3eae6872fc3dc947a158bef15a7126a7a71554b88a53a704e4 has not even been confirmed, you are trying to spend money which you do not have. And you are doing it for three txes each depending on the previous one.

Oh and fun fact, all transactions that you thing you had were never confirmed, all the way up quite some time, I followed the inputs up 2 levels, every single transaction were unconfirmed.

If you were promised some btcs from somewhere, call that person to fix his tx, because the initial transaction from someone wasnt confirmed, every single transaction onwards have been waiting for the first to complete, good luck

as iwantapony traced the last unconfirmed tx id to https://blockchain.info/tx/b78c05d752cf4b025b4bc165a20f8dec00e0e616b7f1816b4e71515264343927

I tried to send that tx using viabtc accelerator but the transaction wasnt found by viabtc or anywhere else. Seems like the inital tx wallet might have stopped broadcasting the transaction and it has falls out of the global transaction mempool (which might or might not have happened).

On a side note, with that 0.531 sat/B in fees for the traced tx, no miner would pick it up even in 10 years. There is a high chance it might have really been dropped of the global tx mempool
