301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinmarketcap's New Feature "Earn" on: August 14, 2020, 02:53:59 PM
I imagined that as soon as coinmarket was bought by binance they would implement many changes, but I did not imagine that in such a short time they would change many things which really shows that they have a lot of long-term vision and I think it is a good thing that they are doing because it will allow people to start trying to find out more about the projects they want to invest in

We see in practice how the investment made by Binance from the purchase of Coinmarketcap is processed. Such investments in novice traders are intended to attract them for permanent trading on the Binance exchange. And the first step to this is to create an account on the exchange.

Yeah but Binance is not a bad exchange to start with. Though exchange should never be recommended as wallets as they have an insanely high withdrawal fees. The fees on Binance are pretty decent and would be a useful exchange until it goes a scam or something. And I also like the way they are making people read about the projects, that would bring some technical knowledge about how modern coin works to a newbie.

Yeah they are introducing coins to the new users but not any good coin, only the ones they have invested on. The popularity is just going to bring them profit. The current promotion is asking users to register for coinmarketcap and subscribe them, make an account on binance as well learn and earn band token which is arguably their home token.
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good project Vitalik! on: August 14, 2020, 02:15:25 PM
I have personally sold some and placed others in sell order at different level max upto $500. I think the current price rise would soon come to a correction bringing the price down to $320ish which would be another window for me to increase the amount of my ETH holdings. The ETH 2.0 launch is still far but when it would come, the price would hit $600 again.
303  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM]Archive.is has stopped supporting Brave Browser on: August 13, 2020, 04:58:19 PM
They were found to be redirecting to their affiliate links on some exchanges and they did corrected it after being pointed out. The graphical illustration about token being frozen seems to be untrue as they explains and they have closed referral from russia which in not just for the user but all users. I'm not a brave fan but they are doing something new, maybe the similar approach to adblock plus but on browser level and with their own blockchain based token and rewarding the viewer as well.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Non DeFi projects starts going DeFi on: August 13, 2020, 11:16:49 AM
Be suspicious of any projects that just decide to implement DeFi all of a sudden when DeFi wasn't implemented in the project's features from the beginning, this is nothing but a way to take advantage of DeFi Hypes going on nowadays, if you are a deep crypto fan like myself you should be seeing few old projects that aren't DeFi from birth and start talking about implementing DeFi feature, I'm 100% against this act as it's unclean and dangerous
If you absolutely need to jump into defi craze just at least check their website and forum thread and when and how they were launched. Defi projects like Chainlink, Band and compound had started this trend but now every of the projects are calling themselves defi even that was not on their whitepaper. It would be risky to put money on any defi related coin at the moment as they are sure to correct large.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will you be the investor that made that fortune or not? on: August 12, 2020, 01:11:46 PM
I was late to jump in and now I guess it would be riskier to jump at the moment though all of the popular defi platforms like chainlink, tezos, maker, compound, aave, synthetic network and almost all of defi still seems to be rising, the market has gone stangnant for most of other coins. They are heading towards a sharp correction and it would be better to buy them after they correct if you are going to invest them for long term.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to get the name of ethereum wallet on: August 11, 2020, 05:19:20 AM
Is it possible to get user's ethereum wallets name from the address he is using?

Your question is still not clear. No, you can't know the name of the person by seeing his/her address. But the addresses can be tagged on popular block explorer by you or the wallet owner so that you would easily recognize who the wallet belongs to. Popular wallet from exchanges are officially tagged by the exchange reaching out to the block explorer.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trx or Eth ? on: August 11, 2020, 04:58:22 AM
I tried to make a dapp on Tron platform but I couldn't get enough of the documentation from the developers website of Tron. The website of tron IDE is unreachable and the Tron Studio in github is discontinued. The developer's website of Tron have dead links and many pages without any content. The only attractive thing on Tron right now is the fees otherwise it's a dead project.
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CMC: Top DeFi Tokens by Market Capitalization on: August 10, 2020, 07:03:56 PM
There were several genre to go with but coinmarketcap did make a separate ranking for Defi coins. It not only shows the increased craze for Defi coins but also the commercial expansion of coinmarketcap after the Binance Acquisition and a step further to dominating the crypto sphere for a capitalistic monopoly and power to manipulate the market.
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will You Trust a Project Announce BY A Legendary Member on: August 10, 2020, 03:50:32 PM
I agree that if a project will be launched by a high ranked member, it would most likely to look great. However, it is indeed true that being too trustful in crypto will put us in disadvantageous position. Observe extraordinary diligence, always.

It does not guarantee as such if launched by legendary it will be a successful and scam free. But yes, if the reputation on this forum is good and has being launching then impact of such project is better of getting it successful. But yes, at the end of the day one should take their own call by doing their homework and analysing everything what is right for them and how much risk exist in that project success.

We should not. But it's a natural response to have a bit bias on anything announced by a legendary member as we know they are either an early bitcoin and crypto adopter or are one of the most useful member of this community. They have hundreds of hours logged and it would not be a blind guess to think thy did a bit of research before accepting to announce the project even for a price. Professionally they don't but personally they do have their recognition on stake.
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Okay whales and market manipulators, I need you to crash the coin markets now. on: August 09, 2020, 03:28:52 PM
Well you shouldn't have cashed in all so early. You should have gone with a bullish grid than going out as current prices seems to be staying. It's not the bull run everyone are still eagerly waiting but the price seems to have adjusted between 11K and 12K for bitcoin for some time. There could be fluctuations and bet on the grid and you could even get a dip to 9K in coming months.
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Classic Second Attack $1.68M Out on: August 09, 2020, 02:58:02 PM
For the second attack ETC team need to take responsibility, how can second attack happens with almost the same attack tactics, the funny thing about it is the team employing legal team to look into it. This is my advice to all these small POW network, change to POS it is not a crime, safety first
It isn't the fault of the ETC team, the fault is of the low hashpower of the ETC network due to which the cost of an 51% attack is pretty low and that's the reason why ETC saw the 2nd attack in a span of 5 days. As you said ETC should upgrade their protocol to POS and then these 51% attacks could be solved but if the mining protocol still remains POW then we can see another attack in a few days again. This hurts the community and also the reputation of the coin if these attacks aren't stopped in the beginning by the team.

This explains why POW is not good for small or medium sized coin. And with so much with ETH, it would be better to let it go. There are quite a lot coins that could complement for ETC and the use of energy just for the sake of keeping a coin alive is unjustifiable. Even though it came out of it, we cant be sure the attack wont happen again. As the ETH changes to POS, a lot of miners and mining equipment would be free.
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is safer, USDT or Binance USD? on: August 08, 2020, 03:56:58 PM
There are risk on trading with every crypto. Even they are said to be fixed to a fiat, no one can guarantee they'll be able to deliver exact amount at any time. Of the two you mentioned, USDT is the most popular, most used and widely accepted yet the most controversial. The Tether team are trying to give reasons why they don't have the equal amount to back the token but their explanation is not going to pay user in case the entire crypto market goes to zero. People look for stable coin because they want to be safe even in the case of crypto catastrophe.
313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's get everyone up to speed with all the silliness with ELECTRONEUM on: August 08, 2020, 03:44:19 PM
Electroneum did got a large userbase by sharing a small number of coins. They could have done that with some airdrop or bounty but their initiative mining simulation app created curiosity on users and the referral bonus made users bring more users. Electroneum has now placed itself as a prominent coin among cryptonight and with the active team, they are getting more user base and use case.
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ICO WhitePaper Matter Most? on: August 07, 2020, 11:41:11 AM
White paper is just a beautiful legend, a fairy tale that, if it does come true, is either not as written, or does not live up to expectations, or does not come true at all. Choosing a project for investment taking into account only white paper is like marrying a bride only because of her beautiful appearance

Or maybe and most of the time it is using by this crook to lure and hype the investors to their scummy project. By the way a good project make their own way and attract people by the result of their project. For me ( not at all) WP is just only a tool that can be use good neither bad nowadays.

Whitepaper is a documentation of what and how the project wants to achieve. It'll let you now either their concept are new or an old one. You can also compare it and it's economics to the similar project you've known. And furthermore with the quality and uniqueness of text, you'd know how serious the team are about the project. Surely it's not the only way to decide for your investment but is the first place to look at.
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: best place to find new low cap projects? on: August 07, 2020, 11:18:16 AM
I know that every day there are a lot of new low-cap projects on uniswap, but be careful, according to my observations, 95% of such projects are scam.
There are a lot of scammer in Uniswap, I went there and saw a lot of fake projects and contract addresses. Be really careful when using Uniswap because you can be confused at any time

The exchanges that let users to manually enter the coin, many scammers puts on the ticker of a popular coin while placing a entirely different coin on sell order. New users just comes in and finds the ticker of coin they want to invest and buys it but gets a useless token. The best way to be safe here is to check the contract info of the coin. The contract info of coin in your wallet should be exactly same as the contract info of the listed token.
316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jon Prosser’s YouTube Channel Hacked on: August 06, 2020, 04:28:07 PM
The guy probably had all necessary security measures, but still was hacked due to sim swap attack. How can he be responsible for that (you say "Your own defense is the knowledge that you" , if the one to blame is a mobile operator probably and technology. What can this guy do to protect himself from sim swap?

Don't use SMS 2fa in the first place? Hacking through sim swap attacks are really nothing new and have been shared a lot on Twitter already(he's quite active on his Twitter account). It's highly unlikely that he haven't heard of sim swaps, also knowing that he's in the tech space. This is most likely just the case of having the "it wouldn't happen to me lul" excuse.

With the sim swapping racket, mobile sms has became less secure. Till a better option arrives, google authentictor would be a better option. Platforms like youtube also should monitor the password and name changes as well live videos actively. If I just opened my youtube now, the home screen would have at least a fake bitcoin giveaway.
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase explorations on: August 06, 2020, 12:48:02 PM
Coinbase had a slow approach to adding coins but the last two lots were large as they are growing into a full fledged crypto exchange. They might have their own metrics on qualifying the coins and they are also guided by SEC's regulations. Coinbase listing is a huge thing for the coin as it opens a large capital of traditional traders who use their banks to invest and trade on crypto.
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Beirut explosion - Lesson to learn from this. on: August 06, 2020, 05:08:11 AM
You should check for you anxiety if these events triggers your fear. Larger and smaller calamities takes place frequently around the world. You just need to be a bit concerned about the security of your coins but the security issue should not haunt your life. What's the use of your coins if you lost your own life and maybe the life of your loved ones.
319  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anti AntiVirus Bitcoin Core on: August 05, 2020, 03:08:05 AM
I just tested the bicoincore executive file with virus total and almost all of popular antivirus engine have no issue with it.
If the antivirus company is not listening to the users, we can also ditch the antivirus that flags the original core app which would clearly give them a message considering the size of bitcoin users.
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Covid crisis & evolving phases on: August 03, 2020, 04:45:45 PM
What is more visible is the current pandemic do boosted online shopping and use of virtual currency which were already taking their grounds. If 20% of people were ordering their food online, now 40% are doing so. If 20% of meetings were held through video conference, now 80% are done so.
The pandemic has decreased social gatherings. It's a dream came true for introverts. Ceremonies like wedding are happening with less expenditure and presence. And the virus is here to stay.
