301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it just luck on: February 21, 2022, 04:33:14 PM
Is it just luck that I made most of my money from shitcoins and meme coins? While people are hating I always make sure I got in early and I ended up smiling, if you bought shiba at few weeks of release you know what I'm talking about, I do get some big altcoins too but this so called shitcoins gives me the best profits.

It is not surprising that you made most of your money from shitcoins and you must also realize too that there are also a lot of people that lost money from other shitcoins too. Aside from Dogecoin and Shiba Inu that long-term Holder did make some profits from, the problem is that these shitcoins ain't really a good option for long-term investment. Many new meme coins didn't make it like do two did and many people have invested in them, so I would agree that you are one of the lucky ones.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banning Bitcoin is Like Banning the Internet, Says Russia’s Finance Minister on: February 21, 2022, 04:20:30 PM
It is generally known that the Russian Central Bank’s stance is to ban crypto-assets, cryptocurrencies, arguing that they creates risks, primarily for citizens, and financial institutions, banks, and create an obscure settlement market.

But, Anton Siluanov (Russia’s Financial Minister) believes that banning cryptocurrencies is like banning the internet. He argued that although the risks the Central Bank is raising are understandable, but he once again reiterated that banning the sector is considerably worse than regulating it.

There are still debates on this issue and President Putin have encouraged the two financial bodies to find a solution to the deadlock.

https://cryptopotato.com/banning-bitcoin-is-like-banning-the-internet-says-russias-finance-minister/
For them to even consider looking at the possibilities of Banning or not banning means a good thing because if it was not, they couldn't even consider it.  I think in the years to come even though I don't see most countries taking it as a legal tender but there will surely be more acceptance and regulations with Bitcoin because it is no longer undeniable.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: BTC smart watch NFT on: February 20, 2022, 07:44:01 AM
So I’ve created a smart watch NFT based upon BTC , and I would like all the crypto enthusiasts to check it out and give your precious opinion upon it.

https://opensea.io/assets/matic/0x2953399124f0cbb46d2cbacd8a89cf0599974963/86335083866091012949858256984810359302224087153488075188813608365312327024641

Would you be interested in buying it ?
And check my other NFTS as well !!!  Smiley

I don't mean to put down your work and I believe people have a different opinion on things but I just think that the price is too steep Shocked ETH0.25 ($667.76). Maybe it is because I still don't understand the idea behind most NFTs and now that many .Jpgs are just been thrown on site with $ value and I also believe that what investors complained about BSC with cryptocurrencies is what we might see with Polygon and NFTs.
304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have concluded that all governments together can't stop bitcoin on: February 20, 2022, 07:31:29 AM
I get to be thinking what about all the government of the world unite and decide to stop bitcoin and cryptocurrency ?  Grin

I have wondered if this is possible to happen despite bitcoin being decentralized. Within me, I don't think that is no more possible because bitcoin is now unstoppable. Just like water is to the fish, bitcoin is the light of the earth.

What do you say yourself ?
Not because of the way you put it, but for me, it is just that I don't believe that the whole government in the world would have the same consensus about Bitcoin at the same time regardless of whether we think the Government doesn't like Bitcoin.
You see, the world has existed before Bitcoin and will still exist without Bitcoin but the Fishes, well you know Smiley and sure Bitcoin has shone a new light on financial investment and I too don't see it stopping anytime soon.
305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not a safe haven for criminals on: February 19, 2022, 08:30:00 AM
It's great that criminals can't hide behind the network of decentralized computers. It's comforting to see that cyber criminals are getting caught and thrown inside prison. The cyber criminals must understand that they can't run forever and enforcement agencies have tools to track them down.

I would recommend to read this article to get better insight on how DOJ had tracked them down.
This is a really good way to prove it to critics who keeps lying about Bitcoin that everything that they have been saying is totally a lie. Some critics has always been saying that Bitcoin is being used by scammers, because it makes them anonymous and that they won’t be caught, and they’re always using this as an excuse as a way for them to push for the ban of Bitcoin. So, I believe that with news like this that it is crystal clear now that Bitcoin cannot be a tool for such thing. So, those of them carrying such news can now know that all they have been saying all this while is totally wrong.

It doesn't even make any sense for them to even pursue that narrative about Bitcoin in the first place. How many scams and money laundering and many other financial vises have been done with Fiat currency, why was there no rally of banning Fiat currency? Bitcoin was just been hated upon without any meaningful reason but this will fade with more positive news coming forth about the Bitcoin ecosystem that it is not as bad as what they believe.
306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally got paid for some work in bitcoin on: February 19, 2022, 07:48:50 AM
I write apps for a living.  Someone wanted a crypto one done and they paid me in bitcoin. Living the dream.
Congrats to you and sure feels good especially if you are a Bitcoin enthusiast cos you know you would hold on to it not just only as an asset with value but also as a souvenir because it was gotten as a payment from a development you did. I would take Bitcoin payment any day over fiat, enjoy.
307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pay for coffee with Bitcoin on: February 19, 2022, 07:40:56 AM
Very interesting to know how you can operate a coffee shop in a country where cryptocurrency is banned and will also want to know the location of this coffee shop too as that will give credibility to this story as other members have also requested may be a government paper or certificate of operation will clear the air on this and will help promote your new coffee business.

I don't think this will be a problem for the OP because as far as I know, all of such king of Businesses operating especially in places like FCT where the OP said will have to apply for a Government permit to operate so probably have one but I think since the issue would be that Crypto trading is restricted in Nigeria so how is the OP collecting payments and how popular is this news cos I know FCT is the seat of the Government and with a News like this, the Authorities will be on your AS$ ASAP for violation of the law.
308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin thief on Bitfinex exchange caught? on: February 17, 2022, 01:41:56 PM
I've been reading shady news about this exchange for years, that's why I don't use this exchange, at this point I don't need to worry about them, but what has been making me no sleep Is when they talk for a long time about them and start talking about tether so I start to get worried because I use tether to trade and I can't get used to other stablecoin

Yeah, sometimes we might say we don't believe that some of these exchanges are doing enough to keep investors or traders fund safe but I also believe that hackers are going all out to still have access to these exchanges so I don't think in this case it is a question of this particular exchange. See this List of Cryptocurrency Exchange Hacks and understand that it has been going on for a while now. Anyways, it was good news to know that they were eventually caught.
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to detect scam token on Binance Smart Chain on: February 17, 2022, 01:01:15 PM
"How to detect scam token on Binance Smart Chain"

If it's on Binance Smart Chain, it's a scam.
So are you trying to say that scam cryptocurrency projects started from the Binance smart chain? Grin Are you for real? we have been having scam projects in the space since before BSC was developed, if you ask a lot of people here to list the first scam coins or failed projects they still hold in their wallets today will definitely without a doubt be from Ethereum Network like most I have in my wallet from 2017, should I now conclude that projects on ETH network are scams?
310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The most reliable coin to invest in is Bitcoin. on: February 17, 2022, 12:28:25 PM
Hello.

I have been investing in Bitcoin as well as other coins for a long time. Some of these coins have disappointed me. After reviewing investments so far, I have found that investing in Bitcoin is the smartest thing. Although the price of Bitcoin has dropped a lot, this coin does not disappoint me because I have full confidence in this coin. I think and believe that the price of this currency will not decrease for a long time, it will one day exceed its maximum value. Which happened towards the end of 2021.

Even though I definitely agree with you when it comes to Investing in Bitcoin as it is mostly a guarantee that you will surely make a profit over time from your investments regardless of when you invested I believe that if we looked at some Alts too, though you didn't mention which ones failed you, you will find some good enough projects to invest in, I guess that's why you said some and not all.
311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is El Salvador in debt because of the bitcoin price drop? on: February 16, 2022, 12:49:16 PM
the media circulating, the impact of the decline in el salvador debt bonds swelled to become one of the worst performers, but strangely when crypto was destroyed, el salvador actually bought bitcoin, president tayib bukele dared to buy bitcoin, maybe tayib bukele believed that one day bitcoin would high again, and will make their economy better again.

All eyes are on them, especially those countries that are planning to do what they have done regarding bitcoins. In my opinion, they are doing exactly right buying in the dip and continue holding it until the price will recover again. since their debt has increased this year compared to last, I'm sure they considering other opportunities and ways to counter that problem and bitcoins will become one of their main solutions.

Only El Salvador citizens who invested in bitcoin following the adoption will suffer from debt because of the bitcoin price drop. Likely most of them don't know about how things work in the bitcoin system.
What i liked the most with El Salvador is that it adopted bitcoin over other altcoins like stable coins. It's a real investment for the future.
However, the country has to continue developping a whole infrastructure for a popular adotion. It's not an easy step imo for a third world country like El Salvador .
The same reason you like their decision is the same reason the El Salvadorian government chose Bitcoin over stable coins because they are stable. They needed something that will at least propel the country forward in terms of financial gains which is to be the outcome of an investment. the country has been in that financial problem and adopting stable coins wouldn't have made any impact except for Bitcoin Investment which will definitely make an impact on the economy if they keep on other infrastructural development around it.
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Suggest best 5 exchanges that you experienced on: February 16, 2022, 11:49:54 AM
It's known to all that, binance is world's largest crypto exchange, founded by Changpeng Zhao in 2017. Recently they compulsory kyc but still everyone talks much about binance than other exchange. But today i want to know those 5 best exchanges you trust after binance, where you got best trading experience, Suitable for trade and you want to suggest those to your friends and others people

Before Binance, my first traded exchange back in 2016 was Bittrex. I had most of my trades there but will also trade other exchanges if the tokens and coins I had were not traded or listed on the Bittrex exchange, but now it is mostly Binance exchange apart from some few listed I traded on before.
Kucoin
Huobi
Bitfinex

313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you know when to sell? on: February 16, 2022, 11:19:49 AM
Do you have any pattern that you see or watch in the market to determine time to sell your hodlings and take your profit ?

Do you regret not selling your coins at any point because you didn't know it will drop ?

Can you share your opinion

When your portfolio is showing you profits Grin When you are going into trading or Investment in cryptocurrencies you must have a target in mind that you wish to get whether as a daily trader or for investment but some don't seem to understand this, so you might be looking at a 2x daily trading profit or just decides to hodl for a longer time and take profit during the next bull circle.
314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin War on: February 15, 2022, 04:12:44 PM
Authoritarian governments would very certainly fight to maintain their use of money as a control device.

Do you anticipate a future in which there is a large-scale battle between pro-and anti-Bitcoin nations?

I don't believe that's a very likely scenario, but it's a concept I've had, and I'd want to hear your thoughts on it.

Thanks!
Grin Are you thinking that there might be a time when countries go to war because of Bitcoin Shocked Neh, that is not happening regardless of how wants to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender or not or even those that just accept to allow its trade as an asset even if not as a legal tender. I don't think Bitcoin is that type of asset that can lead to that and besides, how many percentage is left to mine anyways that they will want to fight over.
315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if crypto mining is outlawed ? on: February 15, 2022, 03:50:19 PM
China banned miners, the EU is thinking of doing the same and what if others will follow?

In a hypothetical scenario where China, US Canada, Russia, India and EU ban pow mining I doubt the smaller countries can sustain the current active miners. Hashrate would drop significantly and the network would be weaker.
Either there would be a massive investment in solar in many developing countries or we might see the first 51% on BTC (hope not).

Do you see this as a potential threat or did the fud get in my head?
I would rather have us not get ahead of ourselves in this assumption. I understand the fear of many but we have also seen cryptocurrencies adopted as a legal tender, well Bitcoin to be precise so if this is the case, maybe just that one country will be the haven for all miners peradventure what you are thinking happens which I doubt anyways will happen besides I believe other countries even if they have not adopted Bitcoin as a legal tender but they are not against it either, so I believe we are good.
316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Almost Lost Bitcoins Recovered - Forgotten Wallet Details on: February 15, 2022, 02:51:07 PM
Very risky handing over wallet details to a 3rd party. The only one I’ve ever seen mentioned as 100% trustworthy is Dave’s Wallet Recovery https://www.walletrecoveryservices.com/
He’s been featured in many articles, both mainstream & crypto related.
True but maybe she just wanted to take the risk and because the transaction was done over a video call as mentioned by OP could have given her another level of confidence that she could identify the people. Anyways, lucky her and also a good publication for the father and son.
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: should i invest in new project? on: February 14, 2022, 02:57:07 PM
there is nothing wrong with investing in new projects because usually new projects will provide huge profits but it must be understood that currently there are many scam projects or trash projects so if you want to invest in a new project you have to research the project well, don't let yourself be fooled .

This is just the bottom line for me too but even with you doing your research on some new projects does not mean that you are free of scams this is why it is important to understand that Crypto investment is you taking a risk and that anything can happen especially with new projects.
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Overthink Potential of Bitcoin on: February 14, 2022, 02:21:05 PM
I think you are way underestimating the potential of bitcoin.

The key for bitcoin is exist and be durable.
If everything works out, you have a monetary system that is independent of any regime in the world, and will outlast governments.

I believe that we are all for Bitcoin but as the topic states, "People Overthink Potential of Bitcoin" even in the medieval era, there has been some sought of government so stop thinking Bitcoin will outlast any government.

Even at this basic level, bitcoin is already ideal to just hodl till the end of time.
It's just a matter of what value it would be traded at.

You are right about that because we do read here in this forum how people are still hodling some coins/tokens with no value what so ever and Please this is not me equating Bitcoin to those but just stating that you can HODL your Bitcoin asset but what it will be traded at in the future is to our imagination.

Let's say USD as a world reserve currency has fallen and replaced by RMB, whos' to say RMB will last as long and won't make the entire global monetary system even more fragil.
At some point people would just want to hold something more durable.

Also I am a foreigner, I hold US stocks not only for the growth but also as a currency hedge. It makes perfect sense for me to hold bitcoin.

Even though I see that as an assumption, however, if it did fail what would your US stock amount to?

So my take in all of this is, let's just enjoy BTC as a hedge against inflation and not a replacement to the financial system

319  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull Run in Bitcoin on: February 13, 2022, 05:29:01 PM
I think the author of this thread forgot to mention that from 2020 to 2021 bitcoin made almost x20. Even now the price of bitcoin is 10 times higher than in 2020. People get used to good things too quickly. There is no such thing as forever growth, the market has different phases.
Exactly. I remember even most Altcoins too had a good uptrend during this time. I know cos I bought BNB at $40 and we all saw that BNB went up to $600+ in 2021 and so were other Altcoins too. There will always be corrections and if you can zoom out and look at the market trend you would realize we can say that we are still in the bull market cos as you said, Bitcoin is still 10x higher than the 2020 price.
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Risk in Crypto Assets Portfolio on: February 12, 2022, 01:19:46 PM
the risk that can be obtained of the three is the crypto market which goes down and makes the market chaotic. other than that someone who invests or trades shitcoin will certainly get the losses and will get nothing so before investing into crypto we must be more careful in choosing the coins. The coin that we choose will also have an impact on the profit we can get, invest and trade the coins that do have good prospects.
Why anticipating loss already by trading or investing those type of coins? There are investors and traders that are making a lot of money from trading those.
It's that it's not ideal for us because they're not our choice. But to them, they're making a lot of money from it when they get to ride the hype at the beginning of it.
For me, Cryptocurrency trading and Investments are mostly about knowledge and some level of luck. You might be right when you said, people are making money from investing in some type of cryptos, a lot of other traders have lost money from those too so it wasn't because they knew it was a better option but just took a higher Risk = Higher reward.
