301  Economy / Speculation / Re: What you just witnessed was a dead cat bounce... of government fiat on: November 20, 2013, 06:37:38 PM
wise words...I had friends who asked me "I'll give you money, you buy Bitcoin with it and come back to me with profit"

First off; it's not only about "profit" and second of all; I ain't touching that hot potato..
302  Economy / Speculation / Re: What you just witnessed was a dead cat bounce... of government fiat on: November 20, 2013, 06:28:53 PM
I get this asked a lot: "So you can cash out whenever you want?".. So I asked the guy who asked me this "What would you do if you had a lot of money? What would you do with it?" and guess what he answered - "I'd put it in a bank to earn interest on it."

So this is our common intelligence out there. I would have never thought that regular Joes are so stupid that they would hold their fiat in a bank as an investment or something Cheesy

But about the topic - it would be interesting to see a growth chart of pretty much everything on it. I'd like to see how gigantic is bitcoin compared to every other asset and what not out there.

Again Hyena; A lot of things you post sound like things I can REALLY agree with  Grin

But on-topic: I think it's the magnitude of Bitcoin that also scares away new adopters. I had a friend email me today: "Dude; you're into this Bitcoin thing, ain't you? If I would have known; I would have bought some as well...But now it's too late, opportunity is over" And then I start explaining that in reality, it's quite the contrary....

303  Economy / Speculation / Re: today is 20/11/13 - on 22-24 Bitcoin will start rising for approx 10-20 days on: November 20, 2013, 01:34:35 PM
OP might be right. We are not crashing, this was just a spike. I foresaw this spike in a dream a bit more than a week ago when price was just 300$ in gox. However, I was to scared to be wrong so I didn't make a topic for it but just mentioned it in another thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=328823.msg3529296#msg3529296).

I planned to temporarily cash out a bit in the range of 900 - 1000 but bitstamp fucked me with the verification lag and thus I didn't profit from the spike Cheesy

You know...I had the EXACT same thing happening to me! Good thing we'll be able to take advantage of OP's new opportunity then!
304  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling it: Peak of $1,600 by the end of the year on: November 19, 2013, 10:02:38 AM
Although 1600 $ begins to sound reasonable; I do think that 10000 $ is still a bridge too far (for now)..
305  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trade volume toay.. on: November 19, 2013, 09:57:32 AM
What is the name of the Chinese exchange that's doing all this volume?

I believe you mean BTCCHINA?

306  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GB]Terraminer IV, 0.4 BTC=67GH/s 24/30 shares on: November 19, 2013, 08:24:50 AM
Hi Soniq;

I'm considering buying shares in this GB, but I had a few questions (sorry if this has been answered already):

If I buy now, I'm part of the 5th TerraMiner, I believe. Will all miners be delivered/activated on day one? (cfr KNC GB?). I think they will be hosted as well?

Thanks in advance!
307  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats your crash-comming-panic-sell number? on: November 19, 2013, 07:53:18 AM
Keeping it at  720 USD...Might get there sooner than expected though...

Did you sell yet?  its hitting your number on gox now Cheesy

Unfortunately I was sleeping while this happened; so no selling has been done  Tongue
Did I say 720 USD? I meant 1720 USD... Grin

309  Economy / Speculation / Re: I think we'll see 800 by the end of the day??? on: November 18, 2013, 07:54:10 PM
Why isn't everyone crapping their pants right now like me?

I've crapped my pants daily ever since 200

I had to cash out to pay for all the diapers I have been needing since 250  Shocked
310  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm going to help pop this bubble on: November 18, 2013, 07:50:15 PM
I don't buy often. But when I do, I panic buy.

True Story Cheesy
But I think the panic buying still has to come...
311  Economy / Speculation / Re: I smell crash on: November 18, 2013, 07:44:28 PM
Don't feel to me like crash incoming *YET*
Divine spirits are telling me that it will happen @ +- 720 USD (MTGOX) & then correct down to 320 USD...
But hey, don't take my word for it Wink
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 09, 2013, 04:36:07 PM

Oh, another question. What is this open day report? People have lots of time on their hands I guess to read everything. Apparently I'm a working stiff that has to pay the bills.

Some people got the chance to go and visit KNC miner offices and bombard them with questions. There's a thread about that around here somewhere, or for +- summary:

313  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy]12 KNCminer Jupiter's 15 Sold [Closed] Jupiter Pool on: July 09, 2013, 04:31:37 PM
Update:
Soniq just sent out a new Bitmessage, regarding payment addresses and much more;)
314  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy]12 KNCminer Jupiter's 15 Sold [Closed] Jupiter Pool on: July 09, 2013, 04:26:37 PM
Any news from OP?

I must admit I haven't subsribed to BitMessage, because making the client work in OSX is difficult to say the least Sad

I have just received a satoshi payment, so there is some activity Wink

I would also like an update about the listing offer.

Cheers

Last update through Bitmessage was 24/06/2013...nothing since then. What's this all about Bitfunder? Is this an individual thing or a choice as a group?
315  Economy / Speculation / Re: falling prices on: June 16, 2013, 09:37:12 AM
may's low price for the month was $79 dollars..
April's low price for the month was $50 dollars..

so junes price still being well over May's low and sticking to the $100 price area means that the price is not really worth panicking over.

relax. and as mr Miagi says: danielson finance trading, like painting fense. it always Uppp Dowwwn uppp Dowwn.

now go paint all the fense untill you realise it always the same.

and as will smith more recently said "fear and panic is only in your mind. it isnt real"

Quotes to live by, good Sir!
316  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: Talking Price Down on: June 13, 2013, 05:35:31 PM
I guess it's nice to see everyone and their mother having a solid, will-come-true view on the price of Bitcoin, but in the end, I'll make up my own mind thank you Smiley
317  Economy / Speculation / Re: Flashcrash this month on: June 13, 2013, 05:33:02 PM
Haha, as usual, want to bet?  Grin

Alas, I have no coin. What would you consider worth my putting up against 1BTC? (grin)

Is the reason you have no coin also the reason for the flashcrash; i.e you're dumping 50K bitcoins or something tonight at 03:00 CET?
 Cool
318  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warning, Sell your bitcoins ASAP before we break the $5.00 wall on: June 12, 2013, 09:39:08 AM
Hi everyone. I'm BitcoinAshley from the future. The forum can't display future post dates, but a bitcoin-crowdfunded time machine was built and I am returning to this thread from June 11, 2014 to tell you the following has happened:

-BTC is $123,748 (Sorry, Rpietila)
-Bernanke and Krugman both admitted they were wrong on national TV
-Gold is $4,378/oz (Sorry, cypherdoc)
-The USD is inflating at a rate of 37% YoY at the moment, increasing every month. The EUR and JPY are already in shambles
-I am really, really rich
-So are all of you. Well, most of you. A few of you took long-term short positions, and still will, even after reading this (we used algorithms to determine that this post would not significantly affect the future. Turns out bears will be bears.)
-Your grandma can now use bitcoins to buy petrol and cigarettes at the ghandi mart. Congrats!
-Litecoins are accepted at Wal-Mart
-Satoshi Nakamoto's true identity has been discovered. But I'll make you wait for that one...

Ok, trade accordingly!  Grin Grin Grin

Awesome predictions, but aren't you forgetting the fact that Germany reinstated the Reichsmark as an alternative to the allmighty Bitcoin?  Wink
319  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy]12 KNCminer Jupiter's [Live] 9 Sold [8 Hours Left] on: June 10, 2013, 12:14:47 PM
I got Bit Message running on my Mac.
Since I didn't want to use the .dmg package as mentioned on https://bitmessage.org/forum/index.php/topic,1690.0.html, I went through a lot of steps to get it going.

Some hints: Download sqlite and Python 3 yourself.

Bit Message is now running and it spits out a lot of messages(to say it politely).

I wonder if we need this Bit Message.
Why not communicate here on the forum like we have been doing ?

Same applies to Google Docs, do we really need that ?
Google already knows way too much about us...
And besides that, I haven't been able to see the document yet, don't know how to open it since I have no link to it.

Sorry if you think I am too negative, but that's how I see it.

Not too negative, you raise an awful lot of good points!
