302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt and the rise to the top. on: June 04, 2015, 11:13:45 AM
@box0211: Thanks for sharing. i am wondering if the transfering of the  passphrase for transactions is save for such online clients?

that wallet is actually a modified version where you cannot login with your passphrase. is a spend from cold wallet type of solution.

first you create transaction then you sign it with your private key by using your phone to scan a qr code. the signing never broadcasts your private key across the internet. it just sends the encrypted version after signing.

its the closest thing to 2 factor authentication for a wallet setup. no other coin has this setup as of today.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ■■ Figuring out a short and simple explanation of NXT ??? ■■ on: June 04, 2015, 04:17:05 AM
it's hard to get ppl to install this as it's not exactly the easiest thing... to us it's easy.

Tell the new user to do a simple exercise.

Download and install Bitcoin and use it.

and

Download and install NXT and use it.

Notice any differences???

Then let the user decide what is easier/better.

304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top Cryptocurrencies (Based on Funding) with Charts. Do Your Research. Make Informed Decisions on: May 31, 2015, 03:40:20 PM
out of all those coins. it seems nxt had the least funding at 21 btc. why is it that certain coins even with alot of funding doesn't even come close to what nxt has so far? im really curious to why this is.... is it really not the funding that plays a factor? so what is it? i mean all those coins have talented devs too.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coins are best suited for decentralized apps? on: May 21, 2015, 12:13:20 AM
Nxt seems to be your best bet at the moment as they call it "plugins". nxtbubble.com is going to be one of the plugins within the wallet.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should Munero be censored on Bitcointalk? on: May 20, 2015, 05:59:27 PM

314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using the Bitcoin Color Coin Protocol to issue Gift Cards for a Business on: May 12, 2015, 03:17:16 PM
one other solution was to also send a few .0001 btc's to the user so they can send back out when needed. it would be good if there was a service that monitored a btc wallet to make sure there is at least .0001 at all times and if there wasnt it would fill that wallet. im not sure if u can even send btc to a colored coin address.
315  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / When is op_return scheduled to be 80 bytes? on: May 12, 2015, 02:47:00 AM
I read somewhere op_return is going to be upped to 80 bytes from its current 40. When is this scheduled to be changed?

And what are some interesting ideas that people have developed so far to take advantage of this increase?
316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Using the Bitcoin Color Coin Protocol to issue Gift Cards for a Business on: May 11, 2015, 11:52:27 PM
I was wondering if this was ever discussed.

I run a small repair shop and wanted to issue color coins as a way to manage store credit or technically gift cards. What are some pros/cons of using blockchain technology to do this? From my research the only viable options right now seem to be : coinprism / counterparty / nxt

coinprism - Sits on top of BTC blockchain. Has android wallet and site is mobile friendly for ios users. No built in exchange.

counterparty - Sits on top of BTC blockchain. no mobile app and only accessible via website. Has built in exchange.

nxt - Doesnt sit on top of BTC blockchain. Mobile app friendly for android and ios. Has built in exchange.

One issue i noticed with any of the 3 options above is: Even if you sent the colored coins to the users wallet, they have no way of sending it back or to someone else unless their wallet contains the native currency.

Thoughts?
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 09, 2015, 04:17:15 PM
y doesnt the mgw just have more people managing the servers to possibly make it have at least 5 signatures instead of 2-3.
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt and the rise to the top. on: May 09, 2015, 05:38:51 AM

319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What does the Ripple news mean for Premined, IPO, ICO coins? Did they follow KYC on: May 06, 2015, 12:53:03 AM
im curious to how does colored coins fall into this category?

say a local coffee shop issued a coffee coin that is redeemable only in their shop. how does that play out? in essence its just issuing store credit but its leveraging a crypto blockchain.
