Should the seed hash be all "0"'s when solo mining?

@Shift

Just getting home.

Which wallet on git is for Windows. I click on links but there is no download. get message saying file too big.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: September 01, 2015, 02:12:59 PM
sp  could you please put the http protocol back in the source code. I can't wallet mine. And djm lyra2v2 is the same. thx

I didn't remove it, not sure why it isn't working..

He's probably talking about wallet mining with GBT - coins are moving to newer BTC codebases, which have getwork removed.

What is weird though is other miners are working to solo mine in the wallet but current releases are not. Maybe from .60 to present.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: September 01, 2015, 12:38:51 AM
@sp_

Been having the craziest issue with all releases after 59. This is what I see when running the miner on just about any of the version and when trying to solo I always get rpc errors that I don't get with any other miner.

305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] First Ethereum fork. GUI wallet. No ICO/IPO. PoW, Bountys. on: August 30, 2015, 10:04:33 PM
We have a ethminer ready that supports cuda and opencl for windows. And ethminer for GNU/Linux..

But these are pretty untested. We have to make a decision here, either we release with untested ethminer and hope for the best or we have to postpone again.

We are very sorry.. but things like this must be done right, fair without trouble. What do you think, the community? We are worked 14 hours straight on this release now..

If you have cloned ethereum then everything is already there.

there is a cudaminer already existing.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] First Ethereum fork. GUI wallet. No ICO/IPO. PoW, Bountys. on: August 30, 2015, 09:32:29 PM
It is getting pretty hectic here. ethminer needs to be ported so it supports shifts rpc calls. These have changed so it will not work with the ethminer from ethereum. Second, the GUI wallet is shipped today for linux-amd64 only. The rest of the architectures are going to be compiled tomorrow. As for shift binary (geth) all is done, every arch is supported (almost Wink)

Regards

I suggest you delay launch until you have working windows wallets and miners to post, or it will be a fail.

The miner will be done today, no problem. The only thing that is not going to be done, is a GUI wallet for windows which you can create accounts and send transactions from. You can still use the command prompt though.

All I want to know is without a windows wallet, other than downloading your miner and mining to my I.P., I assume I need a windows wallet to listen and mine to it? Or are you providing a way to solo without a windows wallet? It is confusing, if there won't be pools till later, I think you should post a quick short windows solo mining guide here.

You will just solo mine as you have with Ethereum.

There is no Windows GUI but solo Shift like Eth.

looks like pos is not working on this coin

hey I am out of town and will not be home until tomorrow afternoon. I see the block explorer has some really odd sized blocks, I would think these are from POS? Maybe you did not have any mature coins?

I have not received any POS also and had wallet open the last 3 days. Also I did not set the config to non staking.
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: August 28, 2015, 12:16:22 PM
Can anyone tell me how to get a multi GPU rig mining Ethereum with the ethminer-cuda? I have all Nvidia maxwell cards and have tried everything I could to get it to work.  Any thoughts?  My machines run Windows 8.1 and my .bat file is ethminer -F http://eth2.suprnova.cc:3000/pokeytex.cgar/10 --mining-threads 5

thanks in advance. - pokeytex

CUDA SWITCH--

Where is the Cuda switch "-U"?  And, at a pool, you normally need your account number, not a user name.  You need to generate an account number with Geth, the text-only command line wallet.  Check the several CryptoMining Blog articles on how to set up and run Ethminer, several have been linked on recent pages in this thread.

If you are running Windows 8.1 and have 750ti cards, you will not get optimal results, only ~1Mh/s per card.  There is a known bug.

--scryptr

@Pokeytex : Have you tried Genoil ethminer? If yes, which one?

@Scryptr : Here's suprnova.cc command line for ethminer

Quote

CUDA SWITCH--

The "-U" switch specifies Cuda coding, the "-G" switch specifies OpenCl coding.  If he has nVidia cards, the "-U" switch is best.  And, I haven't tried to mine with Ethminer on Suprnova, so apologies if they have a different setup than the other Ether coin pools regarding user names.

That being said, there are several good tutorials out there for a miner to research.       --scryptr

Yep, that's a fact, I just copy suprnova's getting start line, I should had chane the -G for -U, my bad Wink

I was using -U but my shares dropped off SuprNova and then I was producing nothing.  I was messing with the settings.  My main problem is that i have (5) GPU's on the rig but only the 750ti shows up.  Does anyone know the command to get all GPU's to work?  I am using Genoil's fork of SP and Trupvot.

-U --gpu-devices 0 1 2 3 4

The spaces are required. With the --gpu-devices it works like ccminer in picking the devices
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AXIOM] AxiomMemHash and SHABAL-256 with Schnorr Signatures - POW / POS on: August 28, 2015, 11:17:40 AM

There's no way you can actually prove this coin was a scam from the beginning.  It's just as plausible that things unfolded exactly as AxiomCryptocurrency said.  That being said, I think I'm gonna go back to mining XMG (very strong CPU only coin).  I'll let my wallet keep staking instead of dumping, and we'll see how things are going after next big mining period.

No.

Well played, child.

Think what you want then.

Does not change the fact.

Again....it's not "fact".  It's conjecture.  I'm not saying this thing is going to the moon or anything, I'm just saying it might not be an actual scam, just a poorly executed project.

Not arguing with you but this will be my last post about this but you completely misunderstood my post "no".

I highlighted your "XMG, cpu only coin". That is what I meant "no" too. It is not cpu only and there is a gpu miner that is private and most likely will stay that way.

I only posted that so someone reading it won't think that and then go over there to mine to find out there is one and start some mess in the thread over there. No sense in that happening when it exists.

And no I do not have it.

Just had a bad wallet crash.

Opened wallet and it re-synced the blockchain but 0 coins. Tried repairwallet in console but says method not found.

Any other commands to try.

There is a backups folder for exactly this kind of situation. open your data dir and select one of the backups and replace wallet.dat with renamed backup.

 Cool

Thanks for that.

Forgot had to change it to just .bat
313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] Based on ethereum. Pre launch (2 days) community involvement. on: August 24, 2015, 07:37:29 PM
Yeah it seems you are going to have the first ether fork. Don't blow it and have it unfair at launch.

Make sure there are pools. If there are no pools, the the distribution will become lopsided and the majority will stay away, and for good reason.

Take as long and do whatever is necessary to have the fairest launch possible!!

If you drop the ball there, it will all be for nothing. It won't help anyone, not even those who end up mining a bunch, cause the coin will fizzle out.

I seen you mention anon.

This is a great idea!! There is another coin that was just released called darkether. It's not a real fork of Ethereum, so I think you got a leg up on them there. So they are nothing to worry about I don't think.

Can you explain the direction you are going to take when approaching anonymity? How will you accomplish this. People are usually worried about anon tech being too centralized is what I usually hear as complaints the most. So please elaborate on you plans when it comes to anonymous transactions. I'm super pumped about a true ether fork with anon tech!!!!

You are in a great position right now.

If you play your cards right, you will find that you have a winner because I think interest in the coin will be high.

I look forward to hearing your response, as I see you're the kind of dev that is active and follows up on everything.

This is another great sign.

Shift has all the potential in the world. Great name too. You've got me excited!!!

Since we aim to release Shift as fair as possible we would like to hear your thoughts about it. In your opinion, how do we make this release as fair as we possible can?

Regards

Easy. Pick a date and release it.

You will never satisfy everyone. Different time zones for all. People will complain about anything and everything.

It's best you pick the time and date and post it the OP and let those that follow the coin/thread mine. As others find out they will come.

Sorry but in a nutshell.

DIFFICULTY MULTIPLIER--

Have you been reading in the thread?  The difficulty multiplier "--diff 2" or "--diff 0.5" may need to be set, depending on precisely which version of ccminer you are using.

Basicially, there is a hard-coded difficulty value in the ccminer code.  If that value does not match the value set in the POOL's code, then the MINER needs to adjust his ccminer with the proper "-diff" value for agreement with hashing values at the pool, and locally.       --scryptr

I was under the impression that was fixed with rel_60  I must have gotten it confused with djm version sorry for getting so uptight..
sometimes this thead seems like its being hijacked and I am reading info for one ccminer and applying it to another. I seriously have dyslexia so it takes me some time to figure it out
sp_ submitted the fix yesterday (https://github.com/sp-hash/ccminer/commit/377a6c8dd0ec7b72b4c91babbaf12da4b5ec28e4) so if you compile from an up-to-date git pull, you do not need to use --diff 2 when using nicehash.  If you are using release 60, you will need to use --diff 2 in the command line if mining on nicehash.
The thread can certainly get confusing (by the way you can't mine ETH with sp_'s ccminer, given that recent thread jacking  Wink ).

Don't think of it as thread jacking. Instead think of it as an exchange. The more people talk about a coin and show interest then the more likely an exchange might add it.

Maybe sp_ was unaware of that other coin. If enough people show interest in that also maybe a dev might show interest and pick it up.

I am pretty sure they don't spend all day scouring the forums for new things that are out.

Wink

I just posted in your thread.

Ether trying to sync at leat 16hours.Is it normal or smthg wrong? Smiley)

If you used the genesis_block.json in the geth then it should only take 10-15 minutes.

Once synced it always scrolls so you might be synced but not realizing it.

Keep an eye on the geth for the block number and check an explorer to see if they match.

EDIT: I see scryptr already mentioned most of this.

Ethereum has no GUI wallet, little windows support, difficult configurations..
I think it's too early to call it a coin, but it seems to have some money support on the exchanges. (pump)
A waste of time.

(Is Ethereum a volunteer botnet?) Join us and we will give you some cash every day.

I am still new to Ethereum but I have read on separate occasions that somehow IBM and Samsung are tied to this.

Don't take that as 100% truth as I have not found anything personally to confirm it.

Any verdict on the newest wallet release?

Have not seen many post about how they are working.

I have it running with some small blocks and so far it's stable and found 2 pos blocks.

I won't be upgrading my other wallet as that stakes between 20 and 30 pos block a day anyway

Thanks for the info.

What sort of luck are you guys having with mining Ethereum? I've been mining for about 24 hours and haven't found a block. Everything is so glitchy and buggy I can't tell if it's working right even though it should be.

Since there is no pool it seems as though this might be sorta pointless too. Pools are there because mining alone doesn't net the same results, even though it's supposed to be averaged over time it usually doesn't work that way. I may switch back to VTC till this ends up a bit more mature.

There is a pool but unfortunately they are not accepting new miners.

I was lucky and got in before the cut off.

It has about 94Gh/s on it.
