Are you saying that GPUs are cheap? Most GPU farms are using high end GPUs that costs hundreds, I call that unfair too, only the guys with high end gear mine and about the others?
What's more expensive a decent GPU or a decent CPU? Have you even looked at the current prices on a decent i7 or entry level Xeon? GPUs are cheap by comparison. |

GPU's would be on that train pretty fast either way, because guess what? GPU's are better for this specific job than CPU's. Nope, almost 40. Delays are one thing, incompetence and poor project planning is something entirely different.
Dude, you're in the altcoin section. It could might as well be called the incompetence and poor project panning section. I'm not against GPU mining, I just think CPU miners should have a chance at the beginning, now that's gone I am exactly the opposite, I think CPU mining is unfair, as people use bot nets, rent expensive server power Amazon etc. and other tricks which make things unfair. With GPU mining most people interested in crypto mining are already set up for this. That's why for each CPU coin that comes out, you get dozens of GPU coins, GPU mining is more popular. |

What the devs should do, is mine the first block or two on an offline machine, then add the checkpoint for the block into the source code for the wallet, release the wallet to the public to let everyone get organized with their pools etc. Then at some predetermined time release the block to the Internet which will start the miners on the correct chain all at once.

Yeah well I have been sitting here for over 2hours, and the info from the devs on what's going on is virtually non-existent. A few sentences of Tweets, and nothing here, this thread was supposed to be the primary launch site! The devs havn't even done a one line tweet in almost an hour. That's because you are putting trust in the devs without any proof. Is it too difficult to assume that they are obfuscating? What if there is another problem and they are using the 502 as a convenient excuse? Sorry to be so cynical but in my opinion something else is going on and they are too embarrassed to admit it. I have found over the years if something can be explained by either conspiracy vs incompetence, then incompetence usually wins. I mean the devs haven't even got basic coin info on maxcoin.co.uk it just redirects to a signup page. |
