301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Revolution or Evolution ? on: July 10, 2020, 09:53:16 PM
Did Bitcoin just evolve to satisfy the masses or was the whole project hijacked by the Puppet masters from the traditional Fiat system to stop the revolution and the inevitable change of money as we know it?    Huh

Bitcoin is what its users choose it to be.

The majority of people don't care about its principles or don't understand them. Luckily there are enough people who keep those qualities alive because one day they might be vital.

People usually attempt to bend something new to fit in with what they're comfortable with already. It takes quite some time to get beyond that and let the underlying innovations flourish.

It's far too early to decide whether it's compromised or on its way. These have all been phases we're passing through.

That is the fact. just as we have in growth theory, there about 5-6 stages of growth. I believe that also apply to the growth in technology. It will take decades for us to understands if the bitcoin invention is actually revolutionary or not. But, the bitcoin value proposition snad ideologies are very strong game changers in the world of finance.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin halving real or just a theory?? on: July 09, 2020, 03:35:25 PM
According to coindex, https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-halving-explainer

Bitcoin halving is an antcipated event in the cryptocurrency world that takes place every 4 years. Basically halving the total amount of Bitcoin in circulation.

Is this real or just a theory? Taking into consideration that people are falling back to cryptocurrency during this hard time in the world.
Share your thoughts!

Bitcoin Halving is a practical principle of bitcoin cryptocurrency and its simply reducing the miners rewards by 1/2 in every four years.

We've had about three halving since the evolution of bitcoin.
1. Bitcoin Halving 2012 (50÷2=25)
2. Bitcoin Halving 2016 (25÷2=12.5)
3. Bitcoin Halving 2020 (12.5÷2=6.25)

This affect the supply side of bitcoin in circulation as scarcity raises it value...
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Etheruem Smart Contract Really Smart? on: July 09, 2020, 03:13:45 PM
secondary, a smart contract that is centralized makes it prone to manipulation and we can not term it smart in that case.
I never heard a smart contract being centralized. What you probably means is a third party handling the smart contract. If you are talking about ethereum network, or any other smart contract operator, once it is deployed its alrrady immutable and cannot be alter. Its just depend on how a certain party will disperse those token inside a smart contract.

If you dont want to termed it smart so be it. But its creator does not termed it like that without its purpose.

There are smart contract that can be executed independently of third parties while other still needs third parties. Third parties in a smart contract makes the purpose somewhat defeated because there should be elimination of TRUST on the system.

~~~
And also independent developers are working to develop such solutions on top of ethereum for example, in real estate sector you can study propy or atlant they are developing something that will answer you precisely.
I'm happy with your response as it clearly shows that smart contract is an evolving solution.
I read from an article that with blockchian and smart contract, you'll be able to eliminate all forms of corruption from a system, politically and business.
The reason while smart contract has some weakness is that it acts as law without the spirit of the law. What i means is this, smart contract can not make judgement and take decision that is outside the existing conditions of the code of the smart contract.
secondary, a smart contract that is centralized makes it prone to manipulation and we can not term it smart in that case.
That, did you think.
But the reality, there has some consensus who provided "proof of human" who still need human interactions and a node who acting to verified a document also there has some smart contract who verified all document too before saved it into the blockchain too. If the document already stored/saved to blockchain, mean they can't be manipulation anymore.
You can find it on google, I just forget a little bit since reading it a few months ago
This can work with blockchain invention to solve many problems in the economy.
In the future it'll be possible to identified the actual owner of a livestock being sold to you just by using blockcain application on it.
Its excites me.
Without a third party or someone on preventing all transaction by using smart contract cant really be manipulation, and edited for all transaction make more trust into the smart contract or blockchain.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Etheruem Smart Contract Really Smart? on: July 07, 2020, 04:55:38 PM
Well, to me contract is the crux of the judicial system because legal case always involves to or more parties.
Contract is an agreement between two parties. For example , Kelvin agree to sell a house to Lydia @ $1000. That is traditional contract which is validated by a written agreement.
Smart contract is a technology that seek to remove the middle man(lawyers) from contract construction and execution and make computer to perform the function.
The key feature of a smart contract is trustless execution. That means, both parties of a contract are not trusted until they fulfill certain conditions.
Here is how this thread will go...
1. Is Etheruem smart contract really smart in reality and not in theory?
2. Who handle the execution of the smart contract ?
3. How does Centralized system or decentralized system affects the key feature of smart contract which is 'TRUSTLESS EXECUTION'?
Didn't see this one shared in the random posts I scanned but WHO this week said that the worst could be yet to come: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-53227219
Global death toll passed half a million in the same week, and it's spiralling out of control in countries that have refused to move according to WHO guidance, so we could yet be forcing the virus to kick into gear.
Good thing we can build up immunity I guess, if I believe what I'm reading so at some point, no matter what governments do, we'll eventually be okay. Bad thing is, people at risk won't be.
This is what i have come to believe regarding the outbreak of this virus and its impact on businesses.
1. People have learnt ways to prevent the spread of this virus through the use of some measures such as wearing of mask and using alcolic sanitizers.
2. Government and other stakeholders of the economy have realized that digital technologies are the resort in times like this.
so, even if there is a spike of the virus again, people already have a way to tackle it. it just need to be strengthened.
<snip>
   Glowing10 this new rise of positive cases is a worst sign we could have. This is summer and experts said the virus will
gone with hot days, we now have the opposite situation, we have more cases now than in winter season. I don't know
what we can expect, but I don't see anything positive to happen in near future. Economy had a problem with the last
quarantine, now it looks like we will have even bigger problems.
well, there are many conspiracy theories surrounding the covid-19 pandemic. one of such theories is that the virus will go as a result of hot weather condition. How does hot weather correlate with the flattening of the covid-19 pandemic curve? in times like this we should listen to science and not myths.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm new here,what is altcoin on: July 02, 2020, 03:21:11 PM
I heard the knowledge of bitcoin (btc)and ETH since 2016 and i want to know the difference between altcoin and BTC and ETH.
and how influential is altcoin because beginners that ask question is really or interested to know which I am willing to know.
I know some people will react to this topic violently and some will respond with manner,
I am here to know what i don't know because I believe that knowledge is power and also the beginning of success.
Altcoins is a term that is used to refer to alternative cryptocurrency other than bitcoin. The bitcoin is the pioneer of cryptocurrency and its is usually grouped as indpendent while other form of coins such as litecoin, ethereum, Bitcoin cash, Stella etc are all grouped to be altcoins.
Congratulations, you got a good tech skills, with it you can influence things technically.
Here is my advice for you.
Be a crypto entrepreneur. Come up with an innovative ideas and build a business model that will be sustainable for it.
Then try testing the innovation to see if it will succeed. This will bring you fulfillment and fame if you succeed and if you didn't succeed, then you would have learned how not to fail.
309  Economy / Economics / Re: How Derivatives Work in Crytocurrency. on: July 02, 2020, 02:50:52 PM
<snip>
~snip~
can we called "swapping" another form of derivative in crypto?
But since Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoins aren't interest bearing securities, it is not possible to apply the exact concept of 'Swap Derivatives' in Crypto Market. However, I have seen some application of swaps in cryptocurrencies. But these are mostly a rip-off of Options. For example, suppose Ada and Marie entered into Swap Deal of 0.10 Bitcoin worth $1000 for 4 months. Ada has to pay $50 to Marie after 4 months while Marie has to pay as per the spot rate after 4 months. Now suppose after 4 months, Bitcoin price stands to be at $12,000 which means 0.10 BTC now worth $1200. Hence, Marie will pay Ada $200 while Ada will pay Marie $50. So Ada made a profit of $150 while Marie suffered the loss of $150. Inversely, if the price dropped to $8000 after 4 months, Ada will have to pay Marie $50 while Marie doesn't have to pay anything to Ada. So Marie will make the profit of $50 while Ada will suffer the loss of $50.
In short, Swaps are not viable option in case of cryptocurrencies. So in crypto, we primarily stick to Futures and Options.
A friend of mine has shared with me once how he uses swapping in crypto holdings. He said he will observe the fluctuation of coins of various trading platforms to know if there are differences. He will move some funds from the lower value coin exchange to the one that has high coin value in order to make profit. But, the fee must be greater than the difference between the two exchange coin value. Does this expslain how possibly we can use swapping in crypto?
Derivatives an agreement between two or more parties that is used for speculation. The price is determined or depends on the asset involved  shares or commodities Derivatives can be exchange-based futures and options or OTC CFDs.The first is traded through an organized exchange, but the rest is traded between two parties. Trading charts provide many benefits.
Grid trading
Chart
Chart design
Protection of funds
Price reduction
Forex Trading Strategies
Forex market
In the case of derivatives trading, besides these, there is more work to be done in binance but before that you have to learn about derivatives trading.
wow... the question that keeps coming to mind are in two folds. I have not traded derivative before; do we use the same trading platform for crypto trade and crypto derivative trading? Which of the two is more complex to gain mastery in? generally, derivatives as the name implies, they derive value from the base assets.
310  Economy / Economics / Re: How Derivatives Work in Crytocurrency. on: July 01, 2020, 02:08:23 PM
<snip>
Derivatives are primarily used for speculation in crypto world. I doubt if anyone uses these for hedging crypto deals at all. In crypto market, Futures and Options are two most popular derivatives. As I guess, you already have a sound knowledge on how both of these works and difference between the two so I will straight come to the point. In short, if you are in crypto trading world, don't try Futures. Prices of cryptocurrencies are very volatile. For example, if you are in long position with 100x leverage, just 1% fall in price will dilute your margin. Unlike stock market, as soon as margin is diluted in Crypto Market like on Bitmex, your position will be closed and your margin money will become your loss.
If you are new try studying crypto patterns and start with either low leverage (3-5x maximum) futures or with writing options (selling options). Don't start with high leverage futures or buying options. Else, you will lose your money pretty quickly.
This is a great and an elaborate explanation. Initially, i thought derivatives are primarily used to hedge investment against loss. Since they are used as trading instruments, that means derivatives in crypto could have high potentiality for profitabaility than that in stock and forex trading due to the volatality nature of bitcoin and other coins.
can we called "swapping" another form of derivative in crypto?
i would like to ask about this coin Bitcoin Vault . it has a high return of profit. is it a scam or not.
The best person to answer the question if its a scam or not is only you. We may only be able to provide you a guide. Here is what you need do to be safe:
1. Research about them on reputable sources.
2. Is their business model sustainable or ponzi.
3. Who is behind the project?
This will surely help to arrive on a decision.
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Cardano's business model? on: June 30, 2020, 01:39:01 PM
As per website, they're aiming to dominate and innovate the financial sector. Most of the financial services that they think isn't being well, they want to change it and be fair in all terms.
But just like any other established crypto project, they can adopt and get into several models for which their aim is applicable. And that's what we're seeing from most of the crypto projects out there.
I like this comment. There is a standard business models cum strategy that tech business runs on, its freemium model. Most businesses operates for sometime by offering free services before as they gain audience, they will start introducing some models that can be leveraged on.
I believe, that's what Cardano want to also do then later pivot into business models that'll work...
313  Economy / Economics / Re: How Derivatives Work in Crytocurrency. on: June 30, 2020, 01:31:49 PM
First I noticed were leveraged exchanges like bitmex and bybit which offer up to 100x leverage.
I've seen there are margin options up to 4x on binance too (so you can lend 4x more than your balance and releverage from there).
Bitmex and binance both offer btcup and btcdown contracts which apparently releverage as they go so they don't liquidate (I'm not entirely sure how they work so you might want to take a look at them yourself).
Beyond that there are standard exchanges in the forex and stocks realm offering more traditional versions for btc too...
Wow..its great to know that there some derivatives innovations already in cryptocurrency. From the look of things, I believe great opportunity abounds in this niche.
I expect to see these derivative innovation in the coming years...
314  Economy / Economics / How Derivatives Work in Crytocurrency. on: June 29, 2020, 01:43:58 PM
I have come to believe that the financial industry has impressive instruments and trading options. I have also seen how entrepreneurs and investors have developed innovation over time to solve certain problems in the financial market.
Imagine the risk that an investor that has a stock worth 2000,000 units @ $60/unit with an initial exchange rate of $1EUR: $567 face when the exchange rate of dollar depreciate to 1EUR: $600. That will be a very big loss to such an investor.
This is the general problem that derivatives solve in the financial market. They help to hedge and secure funds against fluctuation risk in the market.
In my research about this impressive instrument, I found a useful resource on Investopedia (https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/derivative.asp) that explains the various form of derivatives such as; futures, swap, options and forwards. They are all leverage-able financial instruments to investors and businesses.
Here is how I want this thread to go.
What are the various derivatives we have in cryptocurrency . How do they work that make them innovative in this disruptive space?
I know that the purpose signature campaign and bounty programs is marketing or to gain brand visibility for a particular brand.
The question I'm asking for your input which I believe will help tons of others is: How does brand visibility translates into real benefits for this brands. What are the KPI to determine effectiveness of a compiagn.
But I don't think if the virus will keep spreading, WHO had alternative treatments even if there are no vaccines yet. They called anti-bodies to fight the covid19 virus.
That will be very interesting if WHO has an alternate treatment to prevent the spread of covid-19. How does this antibody works? is there a credible resource that one can look up to know how this alternate treatment work?  is this already being used by WHO? kindly send to this thread.
well, if you don't like any of the above suggestions, why don't you look at one other alternative way, though quite different.
you can receive the payment directly as fiat, then when you get the funds to your paypal account, you can use it to buy coins and wait for it to appreciate before converting to fiat for your use.
I feel that should be another way.
318  Economy / Economics / Re: The Covid19 Curve is Flattening on: June 25, 2020, 02:57:45 PM
I read they are planning for a second wave by December this year. It will be termed Covid-20.
It remains to be seem if bitcoin will be affected by it again or not, since next year would be the bull year (if we follow the 4-year cycle theory).
Who are this group of people trying to start a second wave of covid-19 to be called covid20? who started the first wave? kindly provide a credible fact and not just conspiracy theories.
The halving-four years theory might not hold as used to be foretasted because the economic wave is not the same as is always in the previous ones..
so, expect a high uncertainty when it comes to bitcoin price rising by next year
Live: WHO reports largest 24-hour increase in coronavirus cases
<snip>
 Admittedly, the 1918 pandemic had a higher mortality rate, but states which kept NPIs (~non-pharmaceutical interventions, like social distancing and mask wearing) in place for longer experienced a quicker economic growth after the pandemic.
It is a sure fact that for the economy to experience real growth, people must be involved in economic activities. Without that, the growth that will be witnessed is a rise in price(inflation-caused growth). I feel the main reason why some countries are re-opening their business is to avoid the micro-economic and macro-economic impacts of the pandemic. People will die more from hunger than from covid-19, if the economy is not reopened for a long time.
Hence, there must be a trade-off.
 After all, human do know how to survive and become stronger
This is the best part of this response. the human spirit is sound and strong, which is needed for invention and innovation of solutions to emerging problems. We have seen how humans developed technologies that brought civilizations.
I have written couple of articles on the rise of remote working trend. The question had been which is more effective "workplace working or remote working?"
Remote working will save cost of operation to businesses, as this article put it:https://3srules.com/blog/beautiful-side-remote-working/
4. Invest in cybersecurity. It's one of the most expensive asset of a company.
And the best way to do so i to hire hackers to protect you from hacking.
They know where can be a leak in order to get advantage of it so they are the best people to give you the know how on how to protect your digital assets from getting attacked.
You see, hackers should not be seen as all evil as they are gifted people that know how well to manipulate some digital security network. so, we just need to use this people to do the right thing.
some companies employ hackers to do the job of securing their digital assets against hackers. I believe these guys can be found in the leading tech businesses.
