301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A time people have been waiting for bitcoin to drop on: May 20, 2022, 04:23:55 PM
Hello 👋
Okay, presently I want to ask why the sudden panicking around the media and forum here.
I could ones remembered when bitcoin was +$69k and everyone seems to be panicking for the price to get 32k or below. Today we have another chance to buy very low yet people still waiting for the price to drop even more lower.
I want to know when is the best time to buy or waiting more dip to buy and what if the price turns back to bull?
What do we do?

No one can answer those questions but yourself because this forum does not function as investment advice. Only you know what your goals, options, and possibilities are, and predicting accurately price fluctuations is completely impossible. SUre, we can throw around some educated guesses, but that's all they are, guesses that may or may not be correct.
302  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How effective is the covid vaccines ,Is it trustworthy enough on: May 20, 2022, 04:16:27 PM
There have been many assumed rumours about covid vaccines, how it isnt safe and a means of reducing the human populations, How a person who is vaccinated later  get infected with covid again even after collection of the vaccines ,many believe it too earlier and short for covid vaccines to be fully tested as effective enough,so it considered to be a trial process, while the world is assuring everyone of it safety and effectiveness,it even became mandated to access anything within a country.
Kindly feel free to drop your comment ,it will be gladly appreciated.

Many believe that the vaccines have been pumped out too quickly without enough time to get properly tested, but I wonder if that is calculated with old data, actually old conceptions on what the time frame for that is because so far in history there hasn't been so much incentive (monetary and social) backed by big tech developments until this point, so all of our predictions on what timeframe something can be developed can be thrown out the window. It's a whole new ballpark we are playing in and with that in mind, this just might be possible to achive.
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 40 high schools in Argentina to launch bitcoin in their curriculum. on: May 20, 2022, 07:54:45 AM
I think this is great, and not for the reasons people might think. I don't care about investment education that much, or rather, I don't think that should be the main focus of education on BTC and crypto. I do think monetary education, in general, is important, and investing comes along in that basket, but what is more important is what crypto can teach us on a technological and sociological level. We need to educate the new generations on it in order to have a better understanding and a better future for crypto be it BTC or something else and to avoid the pitfalls of monetary knowledge of the old.
304  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is going on??? on: May 19, 2022, 09:01:20 PM
When I purchased early on, the price for a btc was $11,000 . a few months ago, I can recall the price level
was $63,000 . I just knew that it was going to hit the $100,000 mark...Now as of today its $30,180

What is going on???  Also, can anyone predetermine if the btc will reach the $100,000 and is the btc
worth the investment...An educated guess, is acceptable!

There is no educated guess on this, to many factors come into play to even get close with a prediction. Sure, we can estimate how cycles will behave and where to put them aproximately, but that's how far the crystal ball will take you. Is it worth investing is really up to you and your goals.
305  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Russia isn't using it's full force in Ukraine ? tactically .. on: May 18, 2022, 01:13:34 PM
Why Russia isn't using it's full force in Ukraine ?

Why the russians are allowing the ukrainens to win ... they had Kiev in their hands and then they retreat ,it makes no sense, tactically it makes no sense ... as a general i would have bombed Kiev like Mariupol or worse ...

Russia has a lot of resources ...ammo never finishes for russians ...you had Kiev in your hands why would you give it back ? ...no sense ...

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/3/2/why-hasnt-russia-mobilised-its-vast-air-power-against-ukraine

Well, Russia definitely has a lot of resources, especially manpower, or in Russia's case cannon fodder. And in that lies the whole mystery. Times have changed and the situation is not the same as it was in the USSR, and mass mobilization is not an option anymore because it would signify a war, not a special operation, and mass mobilization without a direct threat is hard to push on the people without retaliation (and we know what happened to Russia when people were unsatisfied with their governments waging a war). So using the biggest asset the Russians always had was the manpower, not the technology or the sheer firepower, and when that main resource gets taken away...well, we get this.
306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 18, 2022, 08:37:50 AM
I don't know if you guys heard but Charles Oliveira asked Tony Ferguson to have be training partners, and he refused him saying now it's not the time for that.

Yeap, I've heard that Oliveira offered Tony help, but Tony is Tony. He will keep training alone his weird Kung Fu. I might even say that Tony has wasted his talent. He could have accepted assistance from one best fighting trainers, but he kept purposefully do everything by himself. I dont know how to explain this. Either he is crazy, or "knows himself his body better", or "watched to many movie and wants to be a champ after training based on books and VHS". Crazy guy.

Tony Ferguson really needs help, I really thought that fight with Michael Chandler will be his last but after that Knockout from Chandler he stand-up wanting for more and from an interview he kind of honest with what he is saying he enjoy the 1st round of the fight where he is smoking Michael Chandler on the standup and I got to admit I really think that tony will win that fight, but that unexpected kick from Chandler really has got him, and he got to admit that he doesn't have a chin anymore, so he likely need to move away from the strikes, and from that interview, I really like his mentality he wants to move forward, and continue what he wants and what he loves, and I really think his enjoyment is whats important here and he really wants to do did his own way,

I honestly don't think he can be helped anymore. At 38 years old in a division where the average age is around 30, 32 fights under his belt with a number of them at a high level, and a mentality that is completely chaotic, I am hard-pressed to believe he is able to acquire new skills (technical, strategical and mental) that would push him above his current status. He might be good for a money fight or two, but I doubt he can keep up with the likes of Oliveira, Makhachev, Dariush or Fiziev.
307  Economy / Economics / Re: If inflation is rising, why isn't crypto more valuable now? on: May 17, 2022, 11:38:25 AM
The US Dollar's inflation is on the rise as the pandemic coupled with the Russia-Ukraine crisis have damaged the global economy. Any negative effects on the US Dollar will surely affect other countries' economies, since it's the world's reserve currency. Considering that inflation has increased at a fast pace since the start of 2020, scarce assets/commodities like Gold and Bitcoin should've increased tenfold by now. Yet, Bitcoin is struggling to reach a new All-time-high in price while Gold's been unable to get past $1.9k. In the crypto market, Bitcoin is the one cryptocurrency that moves everything with it. So if Bitcoin goes down, so will the rest of the other coins being traded on the market.

My question is why isn't crypto rising in price if inflation on major Fiat currencies have soared like crazy? Am I missing something here? It's a shame since Bitcoin was long hailed to be a safe-haven asset like Gold. Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley

Crypto is inherently tied to FIAT and what's going on with the economy, it's not in its own bubble. In times of economic distress (inflation, food shortages, war, overblown housing prices et.) people tend to buckle down, and that means not investing in anything. And BTC is not even close to being a safe haven since it's volatility and its low utilisation in the real world is definitely something that will turn away people who want to escape the harsh economic situations. Nor is gold or anything for that matter. What most people are worried about is how they will pay their bills and food, and BTC can't really help with that (that much). So to sum it up, crypto rises when regular people start investing, but when the economic situation worsens, those people tend to stay on the sidelines and what crypto is left with are investors who have money for investing and are not worried about it having to be a solution for a specific economic problem they have. And as we see, those people are not enough.
308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Such News pisses me off! on: May 17, 2022, 10:52:39 AM
I got this notification from a telegram channel which I follow. It is a telegram channel of a Youtube influencer who talks about cryptocurrency in his regional language. When I checked the notification from that channel it stated
Quote
JUST IN: Goldman Sachs and Barclays have invested in Bitcoin and crypto trading platform Elwood Technologies.

I was curious to know that Barclays had invested in Bitcoin! Did a simple search and found the accurate story. If your read the complete article you will know that this investment has nothing to do with Bitcoin.

Unfortunately this is how influencers and media has been promoting their hidden objective, that is to earn money no matter what can be the consequences and what it may end up?

This is why you need to do a search before believing anything promoted.

And you did the right thing. You got some news (info) and decided to look into it further to determine what's going on. I don't blame the influencers, they are misguided half brains that shoot lasers from their eyes, it's a vicious circle. How you approached it is the way any new adopter should, but they usually don't. And then we get hearsay half true info that completely muddies out the really important conversations.

310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk won't save Doge or Bitcoin this time on: May 16, 2022, 09:13:13 PM
We are back to the 90s, the Fed raised the rates by 0.50% - nothing is going to stop the trend of further rate hikes - which in turn will keep on taking the air out of the balloon so called Crypto.

I don't think he ever saved Bitcoin. He's contribution to BTC is minor at best and people who think that his one tweet is making an overall diference. So we need to stop praising or vilifying him in case of crypto, there are so many factors at play here that we really don't need a scapegoat.
311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 44 countries will meet in El Salvador to discuss Bitcoin on: May 16, 2022, 12:14:54 PM
Here's what the President of El Salvador recently said:

Tomorrow, 32 central banks and 12 financial authorities (44 countries) will meet in El Salvador to discuss financial inclusion, digital economy, banking the unbanked, the #Bitcoin rollout and its benefits in our country.

In follow up tweets, he also named some of the actual institutions:

It won't be a surprise if one or two of the countries of this list end up having Bitcoin as a legal tender in the near future.

I would rather they discuss the underlying economic issues that the country has than bitcoin. BTC adoption means very little if the country does not address its economic and social issues, and it seems like El Salvador is ignoring all of that and jumping to a ''quick fix''. I am glad people whose local currency is worth less than a carrot, but that doesn't solve the issues, it only masks them.
312  Other / Politics & Society / Re: War is not necessarily carrying guns and missiles on: May 15, 2022, 09:48:59 PM
War is not necessarily carrying guns and missiles ,these days wars are been fought with wisdom not with bombs and riffles, there something we call economic war ,Ban and sanction like we experience all nations against russia not necessarily done violently but with wisdom to affect it economy ,once money is not in circulation again it will lead to protest by his people against his government for dissatisfaction.

I would disagree with a part of that. Economic warefare is nothing new, the Hundred Years' War (1337 - 1453) was more of an economic war than an all out battle. Naturally, economic wars were a bit diferent back then, but it's still the same concept. What I do agree is that it's nothing like the wars of the oast century as it implements more cyber warefare.
313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you knew the founder of Bitcoin, would you still use it? on: May 15, 2022, 09:44:12 PM
Honestly, I am very obsessed with this question. We don't know who is behind the bitcoin, at the moment Satoshi Nakamoto is just a made-up thing in our head. At the moment we think that he is a savior and helps us to gain financial freedom and protect our privacy but let's imagine some bad case scenarios for interesting discussion. At the moment, Satoshi has around 1 million bitcoin.

What if it was created by one of the worst person ever? What if he wants to make us dependent on bitcoin as much as possible and one day he comes, sells all his coins and causes financial catastrophe.
What if it was created by persons like Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, etc. These are the people who don't respect their customers' privacy.

What if there is one specific, concrete country behind the scenes? Bitcoin is a mixture of the cyber and financial worlds, this is the greatest power stack to own.

The inspiration for me to create this thread was this video.
P.S. I don't agree with Dan Pena, I would even say that if he knew who was behind the bitcoin, as he says, he couldn't sleep at night or could sleep forever.

Good moral dilemma. I guess that most people would be inclined to rethink their support for the project if the person who's behind it is not inline with their moral views, no mater if the project is good or not. But sometimes we tend to omit to ourselvs things we do not agree on if it makes us justfy our choice. I'll stand here and say it would make me rethink it, but who knows...
314  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Finland Officially announces its intention to join NATO on: May 15, 2022, 06:59:32 PM
“The president and the government’s foreign policy committee have agreed that after consulting parliament, Finland will apply for Nato membership,” president, Sauli Niinistö, told a press conference.
“Our decision is historic. The most important thing is the safety of Finland and our citizens. The decision strengthens security and cooperation between the Nordic countries,” Prime Minister Sanna Marin said. She also said that she expects the Finnish parliament to accept this decision.

Reminder:
The process of joining the US-led military bloc NATO requires the approval of the existing 30 member states. At the moment Erdogan says Turkey not supportive of Finland, Sweden joining NATO [Source: Reuters]

General source:
The Guardian
You can read this news on every major news website.

Erdogan's requests are are laughable. He says 'This is not populism', and it really is basically throwing this out just to be as neutral as much between Russia and NATO. Banning terorist organisations? A Turkish authoritarian pointing fingers? Also, havent PKK been off Europe's terorist organisation list since 2014?
315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever thought of doing your thesis on Gambling ? on: May 15, 2022, 04:29:35 PM
According to this article, the Dutch Gambling Authority have awarded 4000€ to students for two Gambling Related thesis.
Quote
Leonard Delank, a master’s student at the University of Groningen and Newcastle University, wrote a paper on loot boxes; items that feature in many video games and offer players a random reward.
In his thesis, Delank drew on the theories of 18th century German philosopher Immanuel Kant, who argued that people have a moral obligation to do the right thing.
Ultimately, he came to the conclusion that loot boxes are not ethical. For his paper, the KSA awarded Delank €2,500

I think in the paper there were few points that were really interesting, most of the times physicians do categorize the gambling addiction into mental disorder but some might accidentally compare it to the OCD. Whereas it claimed how the gamblers who are addicted are 'too uncertain' therefore should be treated seperate from the OCD patients. Apparently the mentality lied in being sensitive to rewards, overconfidence, overestimation as well.

I think it's a wise article and should be taken as a reference when any medical help is being provided to gamblers and at the same time gamblers should also take a note and understand the psychology better.

Would you ever consider doing your research in Gambling? https://www.gamblinginsider.com/news/16389/ksa-awards-4000-to-students-for-gambling-theses

I am sure people have done quite a number of reserch papers on the topic, from a socio perspective, a psychology perspective, math...there are so many angles to approach this, this is a great topic and would be great for anyone that wants to do a deeper dive. Actually, it would be even interesting to read all those papers.
316  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is lying now part of human nature? on: May 15, 2022, 12:35:33 PM
Telling a fib today is considered harmless and most people seem to lie so quickly and are very good at it too. We all know lying isn't good anyway it's being looked at but we all indulge in it and very frequently too. And today, it is considered harmless and a little white lie; almost innocent lol.
Can we as humans ever stop telling lies?

Lying has always been an integral part of social interactions, not just for humans, but for animals as well (from butterfly larva pretending to be of ant origin just so they could take care of it, to wolves learning how to move their eybrows and become dogs to play on humans emotions for food). So no, we can't stop telling lies because it is an integral part if social interactions as well as a defence mechanism (facial expressions that are diferent from ones true feelings). I have to dissagre with Kant when he says that there are no conceivable circumstances in which lying is morally acceptable.
317  Economy / Economics / Re: Is TERRA/Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: May 15, 2022, 11:52:47 AM

On the same interview another very interesting point, the one I was actually thinking about, was raised to the attention: WHAT is Terra? Can we think as a stable coin only? Or being backed, or if not properly backed, at least "assisted" by a BTC treasury, is in reality something different?

It is obviously something different from LN: which is a layer 2 solution allowing users to transact off chain having some BTC " pegged" to their channel.
Here, the concept is quite similar, as UST, if not properly "backed" by BTC is maybe "assisted" by BTC reserves.
The difference is of course in the monetary policy of the two systems: while LN is tied 1:1 with Bitcoin, being essentially LN a "representation " of a (future) state of the blockchain, the UST is tied to the USD, and thus, being stable to the USD, inherits the USD monetary policy.
We could think of mix situation, where a coin is tied not to BTC (deflationary monetary policy), not to the USD (inflationary monetary policy), but to the real purchasing power of the USD (and BTC)

Well, it being tied to something that is stable (and so far the dollar, euro, pound etc have been stable curencies) is what makes it stable. But maybe we should redifine what the name implies. Assisted might not be enough for us to think of it as stable, rather it maybe having some security more than others, but that's it. But then again, being backed to the fullest maybe not ehat crypto was intended to be in the first place so there is a lot to unpack here...
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is everyone that got in late last year in the red now ? How bad is it ? on: May 15, 2022, 11:25:51 AM
I'm still in the green...more than double my initial investment. But then I got in nearly 2 years ago.

Maybe some are at the moment (actually I am sure many are), but as always it's best to look at where they will be in the long term.  It depends one ones goals, bzt it seems to me that so far the best strategy is to buckle down and forget about crypto in times like this (as in hodl what you got).

Take a look on that knee injury https://youtube.com/shorts/jSnoBtLX6xo?feature=share

I dont know how it feels, when you knee cracks like that, but I know from skiing what is cruciate ligament rupture is. That is an afwul pain, it takes 2-4 to recover before you could start walk normally and a fear of falling again on that knee appears.

That day I was tearing apart between Eurovision song contest (actually I had to share TV with other family members lol, while being a head of a family), Worlds Ice Hockey Championship games and UFC Cheesy If you watch UFC filler event like that, they arent that bad after all.

10 years ago I saw in person a guy who tore his  MCL on a grqppling turnament and he was screaming in pain until the medics came and took him away. There is no denying injurys like that hurt and cause a lot if issues for the fighters as they now have to take the time to heal and overcome the mental side of returning to the ring after something like that.
320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 15, 2022, 06:58:23 AM
The full results are as follows:

Gonna say it, I hate when fighters get such injuries in a fight. Why do I have the feeling that leg injuries have been happening more and more in the last couple of years? I know that calf kicks have been more common in the last 4 years and that causes significant damage, but it's interesting that the majority of leg injuries do not come from direct pressure applied to the leg like you would in a heel hook, kneebar, toe hold or any other version of a leg attack, but rather happen due to kicks or result from kicks and are attributed to an accident.

Nice guillotine by Spann.

Angela Hill is gonna get cut after this.

Michael Johnson just avoided getting cut.
