301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On what sport/team should Bitcoin sponsor? on: September 03, 2014, 10:39:22 AM
Bitcoin is not a company. Who will be the sponsor? Foundation?

Maybe someone with a lot of money and a big believer in bitcoin could do it. Would be pretty cool to see the bitcoin logo on a shirt.
302  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-09-03] Will Bitcoin Continue the Slide Despite Positive Data? on: September 03, 2014, 09:38:47 AM
Yes, its really hard to say what moves the price now. It is totally possible for it to decline to $300 level.

I really can't see it dropping that far down without a really good reason and potential problem with bitcoin. I would think there'd be too many buyers trying to get in should it go to that low price which will ultimately keep the price at a reasonable level. People also don't really want to sell their coins for peanuts.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has reached the tipping point on: September 03, 2014, 09:37:12 AM
But it's not the tipping point after which it grows exponentially, no. It's the tipping point where people start fleeing it en masse to other technologies and undervalued cryptos. After all, why would you buy Bitcoin if you can buy something cheaper, which does the same, or even better - if you can buy something cheaper which does the same and then a few other things. Bitcoin was the bootstrapping crypto, now is the time for other technologies to take its place. It won't happen overnight, but the process has begun.

Why would you buy something else when it offers nothing at all? There's a reason why most alts are worth very little because there's just no demand for them. In fact, the only people who seem to want them are those who think they might get rich off them like they missed the chnace with bitcoin.
304  Other / Off-topic / Re: Movies with bitcoin wallet on on: September 03, 2014, 09:35:22 AM
What do you mean? Like they've explicitly mentioned having a bitcoin wallet? There's a few mentions on some TV shows like House of Cards and The Good Wife. Not sure about any films yet but I'm sure there will be soon enough.
305  Other / Off-topic / Re: Celeb Nudes leaked (sold for bitcoin?) on: September 03, 2014, 09:31:40 AM
I dont understand why they take naked picture..
+1,I also don't understand....

Why do you not understand? Do you not like to look at naked pictures of your partner?
306  Other / Off-topic / Re: $1.23M raised on Kickstarter to develop paper airplane. (only wanted $50K) on: September 03, 2014, 09:20:14 AM
That actually looks like a pretty cool little idea/invention. I could see them in stores and I bet they'd be pretty cheap, especially compared to actually buying a remote control plane which are very pricey.
307  Other / Off-topic / Re: General Football Discussion - New Poll, Italy! on: September 03, 2014, 09:13:49 AM
Rooney can drop back into midfield. He doesnt have to be a striker. I think they'd be silly to bench him. Man U should hopefully get their first win this weekend, but if they don't then it's really not looking optimistic for them for the rest of the season.

ManUtd won't win this weekend, I'm 1,000,000 % sure!

Welbeck to Arsenal, good to see ManUtd got some money back. Arsenal overpaid quite a bit to get him. Obviously not their first choise as they bought him in the last day. Panic buy.

What makes you so sure of that? Manchester can't keep on losing forever and QPR arent exactly a great side even though man u have been on pretty poor form.
308  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Vs. Paypal on: September 03, 2014, 09:09:25 AM
Well, while reading at it. Bitcoin had been a challenger to paypal. Which is more useful and highly digitalized currency now? What do you think or which do you prefer?  Grin Grin Grin Huh

The tx fee is much higher for Paypal than bitcoin.

Is it? You can send and recive payments for free on Paypal and I often do,

You can easily lose your Paypal balance in a chargeback, and the dispute resolution is very bad IMO.

True, but there's also the flipside with bitcoin. If you lose your balance due to fraud or hacking those coins are gone forever and you're not going to get them back so swings and roundabouts really.
309  Other / Politics & Society / Re: American Health care: $10,169 for a blood test? on: September 03, 2014, 09:07:25 AM
American healthcare is a joke. Healthcare should be fundamental human right and free for everyone. Nobody should be paying for healthcare in a civilizied society.
310  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Driving Stoned? States Prep for Marijuana DUI on: September 03, 2014, 09:04:58 AM
Thought consuming Marijuana is illegal in most states.

DUI is a bit redundancy if it is already illegal to consume.

Many have legalized its use for medicinal purposes and some even for recreational.

You definintly shouldbt be able to drive whilst high as it definitly alters your reaction time. There's no way I'd even want to drive whilst high.
311  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there any reliable working Bitcoin marketplace like Bitmit/coingig? on: September 03, 2014, 09:00:53 AM
Yes, cryptothrift. It's probably the best ebay-like market out there at the moment. https://cryptothrift.com/
312  Economy / Digital goods / Re: $105 Starbucks Cards for $30! Trusted! Accepting BTC, LTC, Paypal, and Venmo! on: August 20, 2014, 03:05:59 PM
Do you still have these available at $30?

They should last until you spend all the balance.
313  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-20] Why the Bitcoin Price Is Falling – and Why It's Not a Crisis on: August 20, 2014, 03:04:17 PM
Quote
Virtually all investors know that the worst stock market crash in history, the crash of 1929, was in large part caused by people buying on margin - borrowing money to buy stock.

As stock prices fell, such investors needed to dump their holdings quickly, as they were losing money they didn't really have. The panic selling triggered even more panic selling.

Always bloody panic sellers whatever the industry.

PS The face on that gif needs to be upset/angry on the way down  Cheesy.
314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It says decentralized on the box! on: August 13, 2014, 03:09:08 PM
But we have to get the code from someone, isnt that by definition a centralized source?

Just because somebody created it doesn't make it a centralised system. IF you look at the code you will see it is not.
315  Other / Meta / Re: How many astroturfers are here? on: August 12, 2014, 03:57:29 PM
I never actually thought about there being paid agents here, but I guess it's very possible, but is bitcoin something they'd want to be spreading fud about at the moment? Maybe in the future it will become a problem to them.

The first HUGE wave of negative trolls came in June 2011, so when you see "Hero Member" there is no guarantee they are here for positive reasons.

Surely they didn't stick around and make a post every fortnight to become a Hero member. It's rare that you see a Troll Hero member as well.

Op, have you got any bitcoins at all? Maybe if you have or can get some hold them for a few years and you never know you might be able to recoup your money back. Good luck whatever happens.

Well, you can try to post your story here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=723463.0

You might be lucky enough and be chosen as the winner of 100 BTC

1. That 100 BTC giveaway is clearly too good to be true.
2. That guy hasn't proved he has the bitcoin. He only posted an address, but didn't sign a message with it to prove he has the private key.

In short, don't waste your time on that fake giveaway.

It is quite clearly a scam by a troll. Look at his feedback.
318  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-11] Bitcoin: Baffling or brilliant? on: August 12, 2014, 03:20:18 PM
I enjoyed the article. Some good points, but why can't it be both baffling and brilliant? I guess it can be baffling at first or to the uneducated, but I know it is definitely brilliant that's for sure. A truly genius idea.

Call me a sceptic but I just can't see these clowns being big supporters of such a technology.
