301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Quiz] Answer the Bitcoin question and earn merits! #2 on: March 20, 2024, 11:30:27 AM
Since a  block is mined every 10 minutes the probability of mining 3 blocks in 10 minutes will be
Number of possible blocks -->1
Number of required block --> 3
 Keeping time constant (10minutes)
P=1/3
P=0.33
Or 33.33%

nice job JJG 10,000 merits look good on you Grin
Congratulations JayJuanGee you are now officially a member with the five digit merit count. I guess I will definitely wait for Your next milestone hmmm I'm probably guessing a binary combo of 11111.

did not forget you mia you now have 410
Thanks for the shoot phil  Cheesy

The way you people go about that thread is like anybody who post there will definitely get merit, it only takes those recognized members to give and get merit over there. That place is for those who matters (like I said before) and pinning it is like stopping the fun of the bigger boys and they can't help but do their thing over there. Let's say getting that thread to be pinned is successful don't you think that they can open another thread and maybe name if WO_Version1.2 and it will stand so whatever goes on there stays there and you can't  kill the fun elders of the Forum are having, after all they're not violating any of the rules, the merit is theirs to give out to whoever.
This was my point exactly in my first reply. For a user to send merits, he definitely must have earned some so he has the right to send it in what ever way as long as he is no breaking any rule like account farming. Except of course you are a merit source and besides most merit sources are nice contributors with nice merit history. I've visited the Wall observer thread a couple of times I I noticed it's not a merit spree thread like most people emphasize it is. However everyone is free to their opinions plus everyone has a different standard to determining a merit worthy post.

My main point like I said before is the Wall observer is such an epic thread on this forum that it deserves to be pinned even if it usually appears at the top.
304  Other / Meta / Re: [REQUEST] the wall observer thread should be pinned. on: March 19, 2024, 08:30:39 PM
It seems a lot of persons here don't support the idea of pinning based of nice reasons they have mentioned.
The Fact is a topic of that mass must definitely have some off topic discussions and posts but that doesn't make the thread ineligible for merit distribution. Even at that if you look closely you will definitely still find a couple of posts worth meriting.
However though a lot of users have made their points, my reason for the creation of this thread was simply based on the reputation of the Wall observer thread here on Bitcoin talk and not because of merits so let's try to keep the discussions on point with the topic.
305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Indexing new node has slowed to a crawl on: March 19, 2024, 08:17:02 PM
What you are experiencing is normal.
Firstly you don't download the node rather the computer you are using runs as the node. You are actually downloading all of Bitcoin's block chain data and it's actually over 500Gb except you are trying to run a prune node by download some data and omitting some from a particular time frame.
Depending on the computation power of your computer and network speed, downloading the Blockchain data from the Genesis block till date and also syncing, could take a couple of days. The faster you computational power and network strength, the faster the syncing process.

Make sure you have a storage of up to 1tb preferably SSD to prevent issues due to space as it syncs and also when you attempt running it.
306  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trying to get into a Signature campaign... on: March 19, 2024, 09:00:48 AM
A newbie with zero merits concerned about joining a campaign?
Can't really get the post now but a member here once wrote "signature campaigns is a privilege not a right." Which simply means just because your registered as a member of Bitcointalk doesn't mean or guarantee you must be in a campaign. From your write up, it is rational to conclude that you registered here obviously for the gains from signature campaigns.

Signature campaigns have certain general rules and requirements and if you had gone through the pinned threads in the main boards of the forum you would have discovered that the newbie rank was stripped the ability to carry signatures and post images because of the amount of spam . You aim now should be to understand as well as contribute to the forum better.
307  Economy / Reputation / Re: Anonymity of Bitcointalk forum members on: March 19, 2024, 08:43:07 AM
To start with, if you are talking about Bitcoin transactions, you obviously don't need to meet or know the person before you can carry out a transaction. All you need is a safe medium of communication which in this case is  Bitcoin talk.
For a more clear example, when you do p2p transactions on an exchange you don't have to know the seller or buyer personally. The idea of making yourself totally anonymous on this forum is smart move however it is not a command  as you can still share some of those info. The more you surf the forum you will definitely come across members with profiles updated with the data you made mention of above.

310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Quiz] Answer the Bitcoin question and earn merits! #1 on: March 16, 2024, 09:48:14 PM
Question: The dominant mining pool, at the time of writing this, turns evil and uses its hash-power to reorg the chain. A customer of yours sends you a transaction. If you wait for 10 confirmations, what is the chance that the dominant mining pool successfully double-spends / reverses your transaction?

The chance depends on the fee rate used by your customer. Since the mining pool is dominating, if the fee is nice enough for them to add a single confirmation, others will have almost no choice than to confirm the transactions also as they proceed mining the block. The chance of being able to double spend the transaction reduces as the number of confirmation increases until it eventually becomes  zero at exactly 6 confirmations when the transaction has been validated successfully.
311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could supermarkets use local servers to accept Bitcoin in a banking failure? on: March 16, 2024, 02:37:11 PM
Yes it is but the major setback is transaction fees.
Bitcoin currently has a high value and the things people frequently shop individually from the supermarket is usually just a few $100 and it would seem uneconomical to send $100 with $2.6 for a normal fee that would be confirmed on time.
Plus even if you were to setup a lightning network only very few people know how to make use of it compared to people that could easily carry out a Blockchain transaction.
Using Bitcoin as payment option is gradually declining because it is now seen as a form of investment instead of P2P currency. It would only be economical to use Bitcoin in cases where the amount is huge.

313  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: March 16, 2024, 06:24:07 AM
Gambling is supposed to be a fun based activity not a job nor a career. This is part of the things that lead to gambling addiction. The more seriously a person tends to take gambling the more time and money they would definitely invest into it and boom they end up spending way too much time and even money on gambling activities and stakes. As a responsible gambler, your idea and the way you view gambling matters a lot as it is what will determine how much time and money you invest into gambling activities.
If someone is a worker at a casino probably a traditional casino or an online one it is a different case but as a customer spending that much time would definitely lead to addiction.
314  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: March 16, 2024, 06:18:11 AM
Gambling is supposed to be a fun activity. However when a person takes gambling as a source of income there is no doubt that addiction will definitely kick in it could only be a Matter of time. Logically everyone takes their source of income seriously this is because it is the source of their supply of funds they use to carry out different activities that require financial attention.. similarly, when a person makes gambling his primary source of income, he would Begin to spend more time gambling and spend more on his stakes just to increase his wins and winning chances. Overtime he gets addicted to gambling too frequently.
315  Other / Meta / Re: Seasons of be inactive on: March 15, 2024, 05:17:31 PM
Signature campaigns keep the forum traffic high no doubt. however how sure are you that those users became inactive  because of signature campaigns?
Many of the forum old user didn't leave because of signature campaigns but rather because of different factors like losing their login details or they were simply busy with other things off the forum. Many members here are still not interested in signature campaigns some have never even worn  one a majority of the likes of such users are in the wall observer thread go see for your self.
Or they could even be whales chilling somewhere on a beach.
316  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium showing zero USDT balance, importing seed word fals to recognise wallet on: March 15, 2024, 04:02:04 PM
Firstly it was smart of you to have not  mentioned the amount for the safety of your funds.
All you have to do is make sure the wallet is syncing with the block chain if not your balance won't display you can fix this by making sure your internet connection is working properly, as well as if you have enabled the USDT tokens on the wallet so it can sync with the Ethereum block chain to display your balance.
Also you can simply look for another HD wallet that support the other altcoins you mentioned in my experience you can make use of unstoppable wallet.
The reason your wallet didn't display full balance is because trust wallet doesn't support HD wallets so it will only access the primary wallet and ditch the other private keys.
Another alternative solution is to try importing the secondary wallet that contains the coins via the secondary private key. If it was all about Bitcoin the whole process would have been a lot easier since only a few altcoin supporting wallets have the HD function.
Make sure to Delete the private keys and seed info from the previous app before proceeding.

Don't forget to keep your keys safe mate
317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: March 15, 2024, 03:12:46 PM
In my opinion making cash from gambling is not a good option and the statistical probability that you will win every game at every casino is very low. I think winning or losing every game is completely in your head, so your individual tricks are not there. However, we all have some kind of luck so we should strive for what is possible for us.

A great deal of gambling activities require a certain level of luck. Now this percentage of luck needed to win is determined by the kind of game or activity in question as some activities require a great deal of it especially In cases where the odd are very much against you , while some others require very little or almost none. As a gambler you are not expected to place your odds of winning totally on luck. Instead you are expected to make the odd fall more in your favor and you can do this by making careful analysis and possibly calculation that would help increase your odds of winning.
In some cases, experience is also required to help soothing the odds to your favor even more. However the more you play over time you get to understand things better and hence improve your level of experience.
318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you prefer betting your own predictions or from prediction site on: March 15, 2024, 03:03:52 PM
I will prefer going by my own betting predictions, i can't rely on what others are giving, if they had been effective, every other gambler would have been depending on that only, nevertheless, i can still make use of their own suggestions in other to have an idea more on what am about to take on my own betting and not in the situation whereby i have no idea on anything than to depend on their prediction even when it's not right.

This exactly should be the case. predictions are just more of hypothesis of what could happen meaning the predictions could be right and it could also be wrong. The ability of a gambler or a person to carry out gambling predictions depends on the level of some of their qualities like experience and their ability to calculate and analyse. As a true gambler, you should be able to carry out these things independently instead of relying on the predictions made by other people.
It is also important for you as a gambler to be able to make predictions on your own so you can be responsible for both your wins and losses otherwise , your probability of winning and losing would now solely depend on the predictions made by others which isn't supposed to be so.

320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you stake on a potential(obvious) loosing team just for love? on: March 15, 2024, 10:07:57 AM
I think it's bullshit and personally I would never do such a thing in my life. Your individual bet doesn't influence the performance of your team, it doesn't make it better or worse. If anything it's the other way around, if your team was better, you'd bet on it winning more often. In other words, it is the performance of your team that influences your bets, not the other way around.

Definitely it is normal to have a team you like soo much because of maybe personal reasons or because of their performance. This however does not mean you should stake in support of them when you know that they are going to lose . It is more like chasing a lost cause which is irrational if you ask me.
Yes we often comment that gambling is a fun based game but still winning is an added benefit and of course no one finds fun in losing. As a responsible gambler even if you have a team you love so much it doesn't stand as an excuse for you to staking in a lost cause its more  like just tossing your money into a ditch and I bet a gambling hater will classify such a person as an addict.
