301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 40,000 stolen Bitcoin suspect Zhou Tong's co-founder is currently doing an AMA on: November 09, 2015, 03:12:47 PM
This was before my time... guy has nerve...

Same, I don't know who this guy is. Back then I wasn't paying attention to Bitcoin. I got told to invest when it was 30 dollars by someone I know and I ignored it. Oh well.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use cases. What do you actually use Bitcoin for? on: November 09, 2015, 02:59:23 PM
I use Bitcoin for online shopping.

Also I buy Bitcoin and wait untill it grows up.

Spending and buying bitcoin are good way of getting ourselves engaged with bitcoin ecosystem. If we believe with bitcoin future then we must buy and hold bitcoin for some long time. then we can see ourselves richer soon.

Wow a bitcoin holder . Very nice and very patient of you if you can hold it even if it fall just dont sell even if it goes down. You dont know what might happen.

I envy those who can also hold their bitcoins. From rise and fall they dont get anxious that their money might be lost or something might happen. Lets be real here. Bitcoin is not that progressed yet.

I know a guy that bought at the 30 dollar bubble, watched it crash to 2 dollars, for months he was just holding and saying to me I was an idiot by not getting in. He holded through all the bubbles and still holds it all, needless to say he was right.
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Ransom paid using Bitcoin on: November 09, 2015, 02:57:41 PM
Someone should make statistics. How many ransoms were paid in US dollars, how many in Russian rubles, Swiss francs, Euros?
I doubt BTC is the most widely used currency for this activity. When you pay taxes, which is some kind of a ransom for the right to keep on living the way you do, BTC isn't accepted yet.

lets say that 1million people USE bitcoin regularly
lets say that 10,000 people get paid a regular and proper wage in bitcoin..

with many media items saying that mtgox has stolen from thousands of users people. or trendon shavers stole from thousands of users. or the ransomware cryptolock has affected millions of non-users. or the bitcoin ponzi schemes, bad investments. and the closures of mintpal, cryptorush, bitcoinica, and many other exchanges..

the victim rate far exceeds the user rate. and the amount of people receiving a wage and fully living on bitcoin (without pre conversion to fiat) is so low that the positives do not white out the negatives.

for all those that want to defend bitcoin. you probably also defend your home, or country to that same honour and respect no matter what is said..
so..

bitcoin is not the greatest currency in the world... but it can be!!
atleast be honest, that way it can be fixed

The protocol works, if you can't be your own bank because you can't keep your computer and or paper wallet secure, then just go to Xapo and let them manage your Bitcoins for you on their vaults. It's not Bitcoin's fault people are computer illiterates.
304  Economy / Economics / Re: Thousands of expat Americans renouncing citizenship to avoid new tax laws on: November 07, 2015, 06:22:45 PM
Now we only need them to learn Bitcoin and store their wealth there before US collapses and banks all over the place start bailing out money from people's hard earned savings.
305  Economy / Economics / Re: Look at that 24hr volume on Bitstamp on: November 07, 2015, 05:44:19 PM
The Ponzi owners are cashing out! I seriously believe the 'Gambling' section of this forum has driven this bubble in large part - a subforum of that section!

It's impossible that a subsection of this forum has managed to move billions of dollars in the last days which is what we've seen (look at the marketcap, it went from to 4 to 7 billion dollars when the price was peaking at 500 USD. Not possible. People want Bitcoin and FOMO can set in fast.
306  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin goes up very high should i buy a house? on: November 07, 2015, 05:41:03 PM
I'd say do whatever you have to do to own a house, living on rent/mortgage is just a huge burden and if price becomes higher and you have a chance to sell your holdings in exchange for a self owned home, then I'd say go for it. And the money you save in future from no mortgage/rent on your head you can start to buy it back slowly.

Yeah, owning a house is definitely a good peace of mind... I don't like this idea of renting forever. If you can, just live with your parents and inherit whatever house you can, meanwhile just keep on stacking Bitcoin. Unfortunately we poor fellas are stuck in mom's basement unless we want to pay rent and lose the possibility of savings.
307  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it a good long term investment to buy 1 BTC today? on: November 07, 2015, 05:33:46 PM
Buying 1btc is a pretty safe investment imo if you plan on holding for a long period of time, although if you only buy 1 you might not make much. If btc is at 5000 in like 4 years you only made like 4600 if you buy more you'll make way more
bitcoin's price is stucked at 380 and fluctuate around it I think the best it can get is 600 so 5000? pretty impossible to me. However the price of bitcoin usually change every second so we do not know whether it is safe in my opinion

Long term is really safe, there's no way around this. At this point the network has been proven to be very solid for 7 years and counting. Volatility long term is expect, so is a massive price surge long term.
308  Economy / Speculation / Re: $395 HOLD just HOLD on: November 07, 2015, 05:31:21 PM
Both scenarios are perfectly ok with me, as a long term holder.
1) We go down: Im okay with it, it just means there will be easier to get BTC again
2) We go up: My stack of BTC appreciates in value.
309  Economy / Speculation / Re: Five digits on: November 07, 2015, 05:26:21 PM
We should think about what the resistance point is gonna be before speculating it's rise to five digits. It couldn't even hold at $400 for a full day. Currently trading st 388.

My vision is more about medium term, not daily fluctuations.

The rally has started, before 2016 we'll see if it gets momentum or not.

The vibe in the air is very bullish, all the doubters will get obliterated in the midst of the next halving because all of them will get sucked in by FOMO once the rally starts for real.
310  Economy / Speculation / Re: MMM ponzi effects? on: November 07, 2015, 05:25:15 PM
Cheesy So many trolls and shills trying to convince potential investors that bitcoin is only going up because of a ponzi scheme  Cheesy

I've noticed tons of strange new accounts that make a single reply and have the MMM thing as signatures. Did anyone see this as well?
311  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2013 brought us the Megaquake. Are we about to see the 2015 Gigaquake? (SECRET) on: November 06, 2015, 11:02:47 PM
Underneat the trolling there is a really sound argument here. I think a lot of people don't believe in 6 figures a Bitcoin because they have been conditioned to think that is out of reach, when if you do the math, it only takes a couple of whales moving their wealth inside the ecosystem to skyrocket it. Billions are nothing in the grand scheme of things, they can come fast.
312  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: November 06, 2015, 10:47:16 PM
If bitcoin is still around in 20 years, I agree that 1-2 BTC will be sufficient for average living expenses for your retirement. However, medical expenses will be expensive and I guess 10-20 BTC should be able to do that.

So you are saying 11-22 BTC we will need?  I highly think that is wrong.  You think the average price of Bitcoin in 20 years will be 227,000 dollars per coin?  ha.

Perfectly possible, only a small amount of fiat needs to enter the market. Look at this video called "is a $100.000 Bitcoin possible?"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2nXgK34HIM

So yeah, with 100K a Bitcoin and 22 BTC you would have more than 2 million dollars, enough to retire in a non expensive place and live off interests. Of course, anyone selling 100% of their Bitcoins for fiat is insane. So when you plan to retire just sell 50% and save the rest.
313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in a Music Video: Chairlift - Ch-Ching on: November 06, 2015, 10:44:33 PM
Never heard of this before, was a cool sound for a pop song, also I like the idea of more and more mainstream artists starting to use Bitcoin as a cool thing, this can help tremendously reaching mainstream adoption.
314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: XBT vs BTC, what is the story? on: November 06, 2015, 10:32:24 PM
So it seems it's all because in order to comply with that international ISO it needs to be X as the first letter because Bitcoin is not from any country, I get it. XBT sounds cool to be honest, but I dont like the idea of noobs mistaking it for Bitcoin XT.
315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia Proposes Jail Sentence for Bitcoin Activities on: November 06, 2015, 10:26:57 PM
Personally I am very tired of hearing of all these people and places that want to do away with bitcoin because they claim its used to fund terrorisim, drugs, prostitution, etc.. Yes it definitly is used for these things BUT it is also used for many other thing s as well like investments, saving, purchasing legitamite goods and/or services. To just get rid of it and start trying to imprison people for using it is not fair at all. If they are so worried about bitcoin being used for terrible things and want to ban because of that then I think they need to start banning all for of currencies, meaning they will have to make everything in life free. No like they always say nothing in life is free right? Well actually you can get Bitcoin for free, imagine that. I think that's the real reason so many people are so against bitcoin. It give people a way to sit in front of a computer and make money without having to answer to a boss or corporation. It allows people that are not able to get to jobs because of lack of transportation or something else like a criminal background to still make money and survive int he world today. For example I was laid off about a year ago. Since then I have had some minor run ins with the law and ended up with a criminal background I am not proud of, but over the last year I have completely turned my life around and am no longer the same person I used to be. That doesn't matter though because whn I apply for a job they just see my criminal past and don't look any further. Bitcoin has giving me a way to at least stay afloat and get by. Meaning I can put a roof over my head most of the time and food n my stomach. Without the oppertunity to get these free bitcoins myself and many others wouldnt be able to survive. SO to ban it because SOME people use it for bad is bullshi*!

You are right. The US dollar is the most widely used drug money, but it is not banned. Because most US dollars are used for legitimate purpose.

Everything can be used for a legitimate or for an evil purpose. From a knife (you can use it for food or to stab someone) to weapons to money. I mean it's 2015, whoever is still trying to stop Bitcoin is missing the boat and being an idiot at once.
316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best investment? on: November 06, 2015, 10:22:10 PM
Bitcoins, everything else is pretty much and attached directly to the fiat scam system. Everything is prone to crash in the next decades and Bitcoin will be the ultimate edge to protect against this crash. Whoever still doesn't see this will not make it.
317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't HODL!!! on: November 06, 2015, 10:20:10 PM
This is nonsense. Bitcoin was designed to be used however the fuck you want to use it. Want to use it as a regular currency to buy stuff? cool. Want to hold for 10 years and retire? cool. Everything is a legitimate use, no one can tell you what to do with your money.
318  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kimdotcom sold, heading back to $200 on: November 05, 2015, 07:53:50 PM
He didn't sold, he hold and doubled his money and so I did. We are still at 410 and holding. The panic selling correction is over. Tomorrow we'll be at 430 ish stable with some ups and down. It depends on whales if they want to continue pumping or not.
319  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are your plans for YOUR BTC if the price rockets in the future? on: November 05, 2015, 07:50:10 PM
Buy a house, and take care of family
If you guys plan on buying a house, take into account the tax. You'll need to tax the BTC you use to buy them, so you need to make gains that are + the house price + whatever tax needed to be applied. So yeah it sucks because you may have 500K in BTC, but as soon as you want to buy a house you get taxed and I have no idea how much that that tax it but I assume it's a lot.
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spoke with Steve Wozniak on: November 05, 2015, 07:47:01 PM
he said he has a large amount of Bitcoins but would not disclose the amount and says he has a hard time spending them.

After I explained GYFT and how you can go inside StarBucks and transfer BTC-->Gyft card then use that at the point of sale his eyes blew up like he saw a ghost

Shocked to see that he has never heard of GYFT before Sad
Never heard of Gyft myself before. How come do you know Steve Wozniak? isn't he like a celeb pretty much these days? I knew this guy would be on Bitcoin. All the clever geeks are on Bitcoin and own a decent stack, otherwise you would be an idiot at this point.
