I think it is reasonable to presume that a group of well financed people (including the person(s) dubbed the manipulator) want to make sure that miners do not make any return on their investment or lose money.
That it, they purchase lots of mining power and sell earning outright ? No, they make sure miners only make a small fraction of what they invested in hardware and the market price they unload at.

I believe the "killer app" for bitcoin would be a payment processing service. Making smallish payments across borders is very troublesome and expensive, and I think various third parties could easily compete directly against credit card companies and Paypal.
This is what I have in mind:
A US-based company that can make bank transfers (write checks or make direct deposits) to US banks. The company holds a largish amount of BTC and USD in an exchange and hedges itself against fluctuations in BTC value. The recipients provide their identification to the company so that the payment processing company can cooperate with law enforcement and comply with money laundering laws. The money senders just send BTC (and remain anonymous if they so wish), the processing company covers its costs (+profit) with fees and then just sends the USD to the recipients. Everything is perfectly legal, I think. And even if the fees might initially be higher than even Paypal, I believe there could be demand for this service.

Bitcoin ATMs are the killer app for bitcoin.
This is 100% wrong. ATM's are going to go the way of the pay phone much sooner and much faster then most people realize. Think smartphones, not ATM's.

really guys? I run reputable bitcoin businesses you could of sent your bitcoins to but you chose to send money to people you don't know and have no way of getting compensated for?
People like you are why so many people are getting scammed here.
So what is this business that is so reputable? You website is under construction and no, I wont get involved in anyone related to gambling. I fixed the profile url's if that is what you are referring to and no they are not under construction a couple are in beta but code complete. It is helpful that your link now works. Can you point to a thread where people have used this and have commented on it? Should not be hard to do if it is reputable. Also I don't see how this would have helped us. You would have sent him the money before he shipped it to me right? I am I missing something? I am not inclined to do so, feel free to use the search function. And I was implying to only do trades with reputable members.

Hey, I've got one: BitOrgans! Pay for organs using BTC! Irreversible, just like these organ transplants will be! Real effort post here!
What is the pain you are solving? Who has it? The pain of needing organs. The disabled, heavy drinkers, Eugene Victor Tooms. Product idea must in someway support people's well-being. Living is more well than not living, so sure. Product must be intended for commercial market. Well, we don't intend to do this for free. What will it allow our customer to do that couldn't be done before. Being able to see, being able to drink to destroy another kidney/liver. Why are they going to pay for a solution to their pain? Because otherwise they'll die. Cost saving? Efficiencies? You don't have to wait on a donor list for years. Time is money, friend! Increased market share/sales? Oh, you're getting the entire market here. Not just a piece of the steak and kidney pie, but the whole thing! How are we going to make money? 10% cut. Of the BTC. Not the organs. Who are the ideal target customers? The desperate terminally ill, Eugene Victor Tooms. Competitive landscape. How would we be different? Why us vs. others? We guarantee anonymity because of the stigma of paying for organs from political prisoners/desperate families in third-world countries. What is our advantage? Our secret is that we don't actually sell the organs, we just take the money. 5 year revenue plan 1) Collect money for organs. 2) Don't deliver product. Hurray for irreversibility! Employees required 1 Timeline Tomorrow: We make a website and post pictures of the "donors" Day after tomorrow: Collect money Never: Provide service
Man this is EPIC. Sometimes I think these forums should not be free. They should have a comedy tax. It's like comedy central in here almost every day ! Nice job man !!! +1 for the funnies
