301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Can't access my 'free' Bitcoin Cash after August split on: December 26, 2017, 02:02:11 PM
does BitGo wallet own your address? or how do they generate addressses in your wallet?
if you have seed or can extract your private keys, it would be possible to claim BCH by yourself.
but if you have only deposit address on BitGo wallet, then less likely you can get your BCH share.
what's the site for the wallet? I'll take a look into it.

Thanks Thirdspace,

What do you mean by 'the site of the wallet'? The receive address?

I still have my original keys from before I put them in Bitgo, so would that be enough?

Alternatively, if I took my BTC out of my BitGo wallet and into a Ledger Nano, would that help anything at this point?

Did you just import the address without sweeping or did you send your Bitcoins to a new BitGo address? I have never heard of BitGo, but it sounds like one of these web-wallets that don't allow you to access your keys (seed). In case of that, it's not possible to claim your Bitcoin Cash yourself.

Edit: Did you have your Bitcoins in your Bitgo wallet on the moment the fork?
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TOP 100 RICHEST BITCOIN WALLET ADDRESSES on: December 25, 2017, 11:36:37 PM
im the owner of 99 Bitcoin WALLET ADDRESSE
What does you, owning 99 Bitcoin addresses have to do with the top 100 richest Bitcoin addresses?
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TOP 100 RICHEST BITCOIN WALLET ADDRESSES on: December 25, 2017, 11:29:42 PM
At the 0-seat is Satoshi Nakamoto with 1.000.000 BTC ^^
Satoshi Nakamoto has not stored all his Bitcoins on just one address, he has them spread out over multiple addresses with each 50 BTC.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Interest in litecoins on: December 25, 2017, 11:23:28 PM
Litecoin is a good alternative for Bitcoin till the lighting network is released, it basically works the same but the fees and confirmation times are reasonable. I prefer to use Litecoin over Bitcoin when both are accepted, just because micro-payments are possible using Litecoin. But Litecoin is not the answer to the problems Bitcoin has, as in technology. If they would substitute Bitcoin and therefore get the same traffic then it would also struggle with scalability problems.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All Bitcoin Forks in 2017 on: December 25, 2017, 11:14:20 PM
Bitcoin Diamond forked at block 495866, you can add this one to your list. But I'm not sure if the network is already open for public.
306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Offline Wallets Vs Online Wallets on: December 25, 2017, 11:10:32 PM
There is one big difference, with an offline wallet you can't send transactions to the miners. With an online wallet this is possible, you can view the blockchain and send a signed transaction to the miners, they will add it to the blockchain. But some offline wallets allow you to sign transactions being offline, then you can send that transaction with an online wallet or a webpage to the miners. So you're basically doing the whole process then on you're offline wallet.
307  Economy / Economics / Re: Why people says gold is better? on: December 25, 2017, 10:46:13 PM
Some people think gold is better because it's actually used in products, like jewelry. But for a payment method like Bitcoin is, it isn't better at all. If you would use gold as a means of payment you would have to weigh and break it to the right mass to actually pay exact amounts directly, without converting. You don't have to convert your Bitcoin to fiat to pay for goods or services, as many suppliers accept Bitcoin.
308  Other / Archival / Re: transaction unconfirmed on: December 19, 2017, 07:30:44 PM
One thread it enough, you don't have to post the exact same thread six times. But do I understand it correctly that you sent your Bitcoins to the wrong address? Then you should just hope that a miner doesn't add your transaction to a block. The mempool should dismiss your transaction after about 72 hours, which means you get your Bitcoins back in your wallet.
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin newbie - Needs assistance on: December 19, 2017, 07:21:18 PM
I'm not really a fan of wallets that support multiple coins, most of the time these are wallets that are either cloud or don't support open-source. You better just get two separate wallets for these coins. For Litecoin I can recommend Electrum LTC or if you want to run a full node Litecoin Core. To answer your second question, LTC mining is not profitable using GPUs, as the mining is quite dominated by the ASICs
For me! I also don't like of fan of wallet support multiple coins! I only buy all coin I want to invest via exchange and hold its on core wallet. It's have a little difficult to used but safety and private '
You described the best the technique for buying and holding your cryptocurrencies. I try to this technique every time I invest in crypto, but sometimes I'm just a little too lazy to move small amounts of coins out of my exchange account. Luckily I never lost anything because of that.
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New alt coin says it can beat Bitcoin on: December 19, 2017, 07:16:34 PM
That what all altcoins say, but I've never seen something that could really dominate Bitcoin based on it's technology. Some altcoin like Monero have something functional to add but I don't think that it could really substitute Bitcoin, as it still has the biggest community, age and trust.

312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin for Regular Transactions on: December 19, 2017, 06:52:14 PM
Looking at your profile I can see you have been around here for quite some time, so I guess you're familiair with Bitcoin? Then Litecoin is the perfect altcoin for you, it's quite identical to Bitcoin but not overpopulated. Sending them works exactly the same as Bitcoin, only difference is the the address prefix you're sending your coins to. Litecoin's transactions time are very fast, never got any problems like Bitcoin does and the fees are negligible.

313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Bitcoin Cash Wallet is best? on: December 19, 2017, 06:46:46 PM
I'm thinking about to store coins in C-cex. I hope that is old and trusted site.
Why would you give the responsibility of your coins to some random people while you could easily do it yourself? If you really own a significant amount of Bitcoin, then you could easily store them on some old laptop or an android phone.
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN vs ETH ? Your thoughts? on: December 19, 2017, 06:43:18 PM
Bitcoin is in my opinion much more valuable than Ethereum, as it got a bigger community and also has much more age than Ethereum. The Bitcoin Core open source project has the best developers in the world, they have been running Bitcoin smoothly for over 8 years. Although there are problems right now, they have been working already on a fix.
315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost private key. on: December 19, 2017, 06:34:25 PM
If you only lost your copy but you're still able to manage your Bitcoin, then it's not really a problem. Because you still have the ability to make either a transaction to a different wallet of yours or export the private key again. But if you're copy is lost and it is not included in the wallet then your funds are gone forever. So make sure you don't lose them.
316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Bitcoin Cash Wallet is best? on: December 19, 2017, 06:07:50 PM
I use Exodus and Bitcoin.com wallet.. They are both very good. Exodus has a great interface but has high unadjustable fees. Bitcoin.com doesnt have shapeshift yet but the wallet has low fees that can be adjusted. I dont know freewallet. I have never used it.

I use blockchain for storing large amounts but freewallets.org is offering multiple wallets at a time in their website and also exchanges.
Isn't blockchain.info capable of this too? But to answer your main question, I don't recommend storing high amounts of Bitcoin on a web-wallet, especially not when you're going to store them on your phone. You would be much safer if you just installed a desktop wallet, preferably offline. Armory, Electrum and Core are good choices.
317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Received incomplete transaction on: December 19, 2017, 05:52:30 PM
Thanks a lot!

So, as I understand, I have paid 0.002BTC for 20 transactions. The need time I sign a transaction from my multi sign Electrum wallet, I will just pay 0.0001 BTC/tx, right?
That's a bad idea if you want you'rre transaction to be picked up by miners. The average fee at the moment ia very high so if you would send a fee of 0.0001 BTC your transaction would stay in the mempool till they release it, because miners can profit more from users that send higher fees.
319  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: welke files gebruiken voor reset Multibit clasic 0.5.16 on: December 19, 2017, 02:51:39 PM
320  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: So hard to find a good wallet. need help on: December 19, 2017, 02:34:10 PM
Thanks BitMaxz
In short
there is no good segwit wallet exist.
Not with all your requirements.

Elecrum is by far the best wallet that has support for Segwit at the moment. But like you said, there is currently no iOS version available.

GreenAdress does have cross platform and support for Segwit. But it is a multisig wallet, which means that (AFAIK) you don't have access to all the private-keys.
Armory is way more secure if you know how to use it, it's less user-friendly than Electrum. It has SegWit implemented, allows you to manage your keys and does support sweeping. For android, I assume you use it as a portable device, you don't need to have an advanced wallet like Armory, just use it to store small amounts of Bitcoin for doing micro transactions. Every web-wallet that allows you to see your private would be fine for that.
